Hi guys,
I've rooted my S4 active couple of month ago. Now i recognised, that the new Lolipop was available and I wanted to flash it with ODIN.
Guess what happened to a dumb'ss like me??? Exactly, it didn't worked.
Description:
- Could start the phone, but always got notifications that the NFC-Service was disabled (again and again). Also some other notifications where on the screen, working with the phone was impossible.
- So i flashed the stock recovery: I9505XXUAMDE
- Then I flashend the stock kernel: I9505XXUBMEA
Now i wanted to go back to 4.4.2 - but when I wanted to flash I9505XXUFNB8 - ODIN said I had no permission and on the Download-Modus-Screen of my S4 there was error: START [224, 1440]
Do you have any recommondadions for me? Although I was flashing my samsungs very often in the past, now I'm bit of confused why it didn't work anymore.
Please help, because I don't want to buy another phone :-/
S4 Active model number is either GT-I9295 or i537.
None of them is known to accept firmware, recovery or kernel made for I9505.
I537 has locked bootloader =difficult to customize. I9295 has stock lolipop and root advice in dedicated thread General section.
Slow down and start to identify your phone model and select corresponding stock TW ROM.
Problem solved
Hi guys,
thanks for the advice. That was a huge mistake of mine. Sorry for the confusion. For better solving the problem and if somebody comes across this thread, I want to post the solution:
- I flashed a stock recovery.
- Then I flashed a Stock Firmware found on sammobile.
There you go. Thanks guys

Hi everyone,
I have since a week a Samsung Galaxy S (I9000) and I find it a bit different from my previous device (HTC Desire GSM), so I am having some question and doubts concerning what I have done so far on the phone after reading many threads in this great forum.
First of all, when I got the phone, it had an operator layer, so I wanted it to have a completely stock rom. Hence, I flashed using Odin the phone using those files:
CODE_I9000XXJVU_CL851880_REV03_user_low_ship.tar.md5
MODEM_I9000XXJVU_REV_00_CL1092175.tar
GT-I9000-CSC-MULTI-OXAJVU.tar
The android version I have now is the 2.3.6, but I find it a bit (a lot) laggy, so I was wondering if this ROM is actually a stable ROM or a development ROM, perhaps can you help me choosing a more stable stock firmware?
Also, I am also having some concerns with rooting the phone. In fact, when I had my HTC Desire, there was mostly one method to root the phone (the most common method let's say) using unRevoked. But now I got really lost with the Galaxy S as the methods for rooting seem not only to be numerous, but to depend on the firmware I actually have on the phone. So I flashed a file in my phone that rooted the phone, but it seems to have a moded kernel with it. The file I used is the following:
CF-Root-XX_OXA_JVU_2.3.6-v4.3-CWM3RFS

So I am wondering if there is actually another method to root the phone that does not involve flashing a custom firmware?
Also, I might go back to a MIUI ROM, but I wonder if by flashing another ROM with ClockWorkMod recovery, it will replace my actual kernel (which would be great) ?
I'd like to use the phone for a while using a rooted stock rom, with no alterations nor modifications; and then I will go back to using a MIUI ROM. So can you please help me with my doubts; I really don't like no knowing what I am really putting into my phone so I don't want to spend a week doing trial and error
Thank you all in advance and please forgive my noobism
If you flash a new ROM the kernel should be replaced but I don`t know for sure if it`s he same on Samsung like on HTC. I rooted my i9000 with unlockroot( just google for it) and the phone is stock rooted and I flashed speedmod kernel with heimdall in order to have CWM so I don`t have stock kernel either.
Thank you for your answer !
What android version do you have on your galaxy ? 2.3.6 ? Is it smooth ?
Perhaps I will try MIUI to check how it works on this device (it worked great on my HTC Desire with lower tech specs )
Hello guys. A very short and simple question:
I am now on android 4.3, Galaxy S3 I9305 German DBT firmware with KNOX bootloader. I have a problem with 4.3 - my phone restarts or freezes after or minute or so being turned on and I can not do anything about it. I have tried different FWs with Odin, different Custom ROMs, a lot of wiping with no success, but this problem newer happened when it was on 4.1.1 and I want to go back to 4.1.1. I have found a three part fw http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2023527. It's not my first try to downgrade and flash a ROM so I know how stuff works but it is my first time with KNOX bootloader, so that is why I am asking. Will I be able to get it working or it will brick my phone?
Thank you!
Forgive me I am a noob. I recently rooted my AT&T S5 cause was waiting for the 5.0 update to come out. I decided to go back to stock and upgrade and removed the root all except the bootloader still appears with custom when starting phone and is only trace of root is all can seem to find but is keeping me from installing new 5.0 as it gets to 28% and restarts says unable to install instillation interrupted. How can I replace bootloader with stock one and where may I find one? Any and all help appreciated. I am running 4.4.4 android and is a SM-G900 AT&T S5 with kernel G900AUCU2AOA1.

Install Samsung Kies on your PC/MAC, and try flashing a new firmware with Kies. Follow the on screen instructions
I have tried that and tell me that my software is up to date have also tried a few different stock roms which were supposed to work with my phone with Odin and they all fail.
Flash the file in this thread.

Thank you very much for the help and sorry has taken so long to get back and let you know it worked great. Thank you so much
(RESOLVED)
Alright so in order to not bore you all, ill get to the point. I messed up trying to do impossible things with my I537 because I didn't read any forums before trying... stupid I know. That being said I now have a "soft bricked" phone stuck in download mode. I have been looking around (I assume not hard enough) for the right file to flash with ODIN to get me back up and running so I can actually do my research this time before playing with different stock roms.
Can anyone point me in the right direction to get the right files to unbrick this thing?
First things first: this forum is for the SGH-I537 AT&T Galaxy S4 Active, not the I527 Galaxy Mega. I just want to make sure you have the right device. If you have the Mega (I527), you want this forum, and ignore the rest of this post.
If you do in fact have the Galaxy S4 Active (I537), then check out this thread, it has all the official firmware files that have been released for this device. I would recommend using the firmware files for NE3 (KitKat) to flash in Odin. The NE3 build is the easiest to root, and you can always use the keep-root method to upgrade to lollipop if you so desire.
Oh yes sorry that was a mistype. I did indeed mean to type I537. Ok Ill give this a shot and update on how it goes.
Ok so Im currently downloading the Full Odin package, but I have already rooted the phone with towelroot. Is that going to be an issue?
Nah it won't be a problem. Flashing firmware files with Odin will unroot your phone (it resets everything to original factory settings). You can always reroot with towel root again
Ok new problem though, I was able to get everything flashed through ODIN, it restarts; then I get the Samsung boot screen, att boot screen and then it just goes black. I put it back into download mode and tried to re-flash it a couple times but it keeps doing the same thing. Thoughts? This Is the section I got the file from;
I537UCUCNE3 (4.4.2) Released 2014-06-06 - OFFICIAL
Issue has been solved, I just had a battery issue but after changing that and letting the phone charge up it started up great. Thanks for all your help "thisisapoorusernamechoice"
Hi Everyone,
I am kind of lost in the upgrade process.
6 months ago, my Samsung Note 3 (USA AT&T) phone was working perfectly fine, but just with OLD firmware. ,then due to urge on upgrading, i searched so many sites and found a link somewhere on droidviews.com (as my firmware was NJ1 or something, website said i need to upgrade to NC2, and then to OC1), this process messed up my phone call receiving & making capabilities.
Most of the time callers see me unreachable and I am unable to call them as i get "emergency calls only"....I still don't have a way out from this issue. Some places I read i need to install right CSC / modem etc, I even tried this thread by reflashing using ODIN & N900AUCUEOC1_N900AATTEOC1_N900AUCUEOC1_HOME.tar. Even after this, i still have calls related issues same as above.
Can someone guide me to right direct (or) did i totally messed up with this? BTW, i am now in INDIA, using Airtel services...
I believe nj1 firmware is newer than nc2.
The Odin files came from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/note-3-att/general/100-stock-lollipop-5-0-n900aucueoc1-t3069609 ?

Thanks. I tried flashing to OC1, still same problem. my calls are mostly not working. Is there a way i can go back to original 4.3 stock rom that came with Note3 AT&T? or is there a way i can get current AT&T rom (latest) to try with?
Good part is, i can go between 4.4.3 and 5.0 as i have original stock roms downloaded. But bad part is, my calls still failing...
appreciate any clue/help.
Where did you get the stock ROM? AT&T never released full firmware for the 900a.
There is no way to go back fully to 4.3 since the phone bootloader can be downgraded to 4.3.

Hi, i downloaded NC2 & OC1 stock firmwares from XDA only. they are loading up fine (using ODIN). But my calling problem remains same.
So, Yesterday, i tried rooting the phone and installed AllianceROM. then i went into series of issues like "unfortunately NFC has stopped", "unfortunately settings has stopped" etc... then followed the instruction to wipe/factory reset, 3 to 4 times and disabled NFC services etc. As of now, phone works fine, but still need to check the calling function for a week...
thanks for your time.

Are we SOL with 900a? I was in the wrong forum earlier and was ready to use update to 7...until I realized it wasn't for me.
Dying on Lollipop (where I landed after the 7 fallout)
I re-read my post and noticed that I made an error: the bootloader on an n900a CANNOT be downgraded.
You cannot flash any ROM to the phone using TWRP, you must use flashfire. Only ROMs based on the stock Samsung ROM can be flashed to the n900a.
