[Q] screen view issues - T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am frustrated with several sites I visit, including Samsungs own site. The page comes up and it is larger than my screen and I can't scroll left or right, only up and down. It is very aggravating. Is there a setting that I can change to allow me to navigate these pages properly? Thanks

Have you tried using Desktop View to see it helps or solves?

Reading e-mail: starts in middle of message

When I read e-mail, the cursor automatically goes to the middle of the message instead of starting at the top. I can't find another comment on this.
I have the stock AT&T ROM (I know, lame), Kaiser Tweaks, and standard e-mail application.
Any ideas?

Had same problem myself.
Check out this thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=351296
Maybe similar to your problem?
I am sure this never happened to mine before either.
EDIT: Just to test I backed up my phone and did a hard reset. Lo and behold it was fine without Kaiser Tweaks! Will let the guys know on their thread.
This is a side effect in the nav pad tweak that allows better scrolling in IE. Normally IE jumps from link to link and the tweak was created to allow right press to page down. The side effect is that messages open at the end instead of the beginning. So it depends on which function is most useful to you as to enable this tweak or not.

This is the solution! I disabled the nav pad scrolling in IE in the Kaiser Tweaks and soft reset. I use Opera Mini as my internet browser so I am not sure why I enabled it in the first place.
Thank you very much. I really appreciate it.

Have you noticed that Ebay isnt displaying completely on the Kaiser

When i visit ebay.com.au, the pages never completely display.
I dont recall having this problem with the P3600i i had a couple months back.
Can you please check yours and report back here.
Thanks
Loads fine on my Tilt. Loaded via HSDPA in about 4-6 seconds.
Are you saving your temp Internet files to your storeage card?
thanks for the reply,
I will elaborate more and post a url for you to try.
ok, on my Kaiser, whe i go to ebay.com.au and search an item, you will see the title and image and sellers details.
Then when you scroll down you see in the Listing and Payemtn Details 'HIDE SHOW' and nothing below that. You can click either hide or show, but nothing changes for me.
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/MEDIUM-CAR-storm-hail-cover-AUTOTECHNICA-PICK-UP-ONLY_W0QQitemZ140198687959
or just search storm hail cover.
thanks, awaiting your feedback
I wasn't sure where your screen stopped, so I shot a video. Here is the file:
http://rapidshare.com/files/84510288/ebay.zip.html
thanks ,
downloading now.
will be back in a min
yep, you got it all, but are you using pocket IE, or an enhanced browser?
Yes, Pocket IE with the Pocket IE PLUS
not sure why mine stops just after the first pic and the auction end time, and before all the details. I havent modded my PIE at all.
Are you storing your IE files on your memory card?
no, i didnt think there was an option to store your cache on your flash card.
ps. i tried refreshing the page using both my 3G and home wifi connection. Same on both accounts.
strangley enough it corrected itslef, then did the same things.
This is odd.
Can you log into ebay using your Kaiser.
I can see the whole page if i am not logged in as an ebay member but once i log into ebay as a member, the bottom part of the ebay.com.au page doesnt display.
Why would this only happen when i am logged in as an Ebay member?

Changing TouchFLO 'Launch Browser' Default Page?

Hey guys,
This is my first post, which could be a disaster if this is all down to my stupidity, but I swear I've done a lot of searching and come up with nothing. That out of the way...
When I go to the TouchFLO internet page on my XDA Ignito the default site if you hit 'launch browser' is m.yahoo.com, is there any way to change this at all? I'd much prefer it to launch with about:blank for responsiveness, and so my GPRS doesn't auto-connect when I want to do something with Opera.
Thanks in advance for any help, I'm really glad there's a community like this for users of HTC devices. I've already used this forum as a lurker for a lot of information (including upgrading my old Hermes to Winmobile 6), you guys are superb.
Sincerely,
Ulfhedjinn.
Launch Opera.
Tap the Options icon in the bottom right hand corner of the screen (it's a black box with horizontal lines in it with a similar smaller white box partially in top of it) and this'll pop up a list of options.
Select the Settings option.
Tap the Start Page bar and it'll drop down various options to do with the default page.
Select the 'User-defined' option and enter about:blank in the text box.
I had a bit of trouble getting Opera to 'remember' my change when I was doing exactly that so if this doesn't take effect then do a soft reset (after making sure everything is still as you want it in Opera) to get the option to 'stick'.
Hello Medulla,
Thanks a lot for the advice, I appreciate it. Unfortunately I'd already tried setting the homepage in Opera to about:blank or Google UK, and got them to stick in the browser (which can be a pain at times as you mentioned), but the internet page in TouchFLO still says "Launch Browser" with "m.yahoo.com" under it.
I tried setting my homepage and then doing a soft reset, just to see if it would work, but unfortunately I still get m.yahoo.com as my homepage unless I manually start Opera from programs or by pressing "Browser" at the bottom of the internet menu instead of "Launch Browser" at the top.
I was wondering if the m.yahoo.com default was tied in to the registry or firmware.
Thanks again for the reply.
Using file manager..
Go to:
\Application Data\Manila\
rename the file InternetPortal-en-AU.xml to something else (or delete).
Alternatively, you could change the home URL inside that xml file, that should fix your problem. It's a read only file, you would need to use something like total-commander to modify the attribute. G luck ..
Hello techdave,
You, sir, are my bloody hero. Renaming that file worked a treat.
I can't thank you enough.
very useful tip. thx a lot
Yes, that was driving me crazy too! Thanks for this tip
My first post on the forum after using many of the excellent tips etc..
This is a great tip, its been bugging me since getting my diamond, I've managed to change the default page in the xml file to Google UK, also got rid of the MySpace and You Tube links by modifying the same file (using Total Commander).
I would also like to my put my own links and icons (similar to the MySpace and You Tube ones) on the main Opera Touch Flo screen, I've changed the link but have no idea how to change the image, the xml file refers to .qtc files for the images.
What are .qtc files and how can I create them to put my own icons in?
EDIT - found the answers after some deep searching
also used this tip to get rid of something which has been bugging me since I first got the phone, thanks
I'd been searching everywhere for this. Thanks so much!

Thanks oodles! I was trying to get Opera mini to handle RSS but:
a) it didn't allow me to group them so I could separate them by content (text vs audio) and frequency (I keep a list of ~40 RSS feeds and have annotated them by their update frequency)
b) I couldn't edit the names
c) it didn't work on the BBC Newspod feed
RSS Hub solves all of those and the interface is elegant. Thanks again!
RSS hub help with scrolling
Hello, I was wondering if anyone using RSS hub has found it annoying to scroll while in an open feed.
Usually, I open a feed to an article I wish to read. The short blurb doesn't cut it so I wish to scroll done to, "Read More Online...". But when I attempt to scroll to the bottom, it doesn't scroll, rather it highlights the words.
Is there a way to smart scroll within the feed that is still open by RSS hub?
Thanks for reading guys.

well, are you only lightly pressing, cause that is the exact thing that happens. you really have to push it down for the flick scrolling to kick in. otherwise you will highlight...
or try yomomedia which is actually a lot nicer
nope not light touch
@ Vader165
Nope, not light touch, regardless if I press hard or not, when the feed is open with RSS Hub, it just highlights. Any solutions?
@ Kwill
Yomomedia is actually quite nice interface. As much as it is aesthetically pleasing, it takes a while to load. However, I think I will have to use this, if I am not able to smart scroll in RSS Hub.

I’m guessing your running a WM 6.5 ROM? If so this is normal behavior and cannot be fixed. The kinetic scrolling of 6.5 breaks the touchflo in certain apps and the RSS Hub happens to be one of them. I always just have to use the side scroll bars to scroll through an article. I enlarge the width of my vertical scroll bars using Advanced config and it makes it a lot easier.
Great tip

Great tip. I went on and employed this and it makes using the RSS Hub under 6.5 a lot better.
One more question, if you don't mind Climber, is there a way to move the scroll bar to the left, for lefties like me?
Thanks for the tip again!

Sorry but as far as I know this is not possible. You would think that Microsoft would have added this option considering that not everyone is right handed.
you could use the new version of Rss hub, newsbreak. i have it and i love it because it actually does podcasts. and well.
SPB Online
I just downloaded SPB Online, which contains an RSS reader and the "touchflo" scrolling works in article view. As a matter of fact, this is the best RSS reader I have ever used. It's not free, but if you access your RSS reader as often as I do it's well worth the money.

Using normal google search (not mobile) from Opera

Hey guys,
When I use the search bar from the main Internet screen (or search from within Opera), it does a Google mobile search.
I find this pretty annoying, since clicking the results gets them reformatted by Google...but the TD2's screen is a high enough resolution to display most sites normally.
EDIT: Fixed! This was actually a setting in iGoogle. At the bottom of a search page, click "Settings", then set "Reformat pages for your mobile" to "No"
