[Q] M7 mod for Ethernet & USB Wimax dongle? - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Device
HTC ONE M7 AT 4G
Modded to M7 ULL
Firmware : Latest 702192 or similar
ROM: Element X 20.1
Sense 6 with M9 Sense 7 ported upgrade
Current kernel + personal mod allows xbox / ps controllers
and full NTFS support using USB OTG + Flash drive or Card Reader
Required:
1. OTG to Ether adapter
Lot of cheap Chinese dupes found some of which were detected
But i've not been able to set up the actual Eth01 config.
Fairly confident that it is possible but I don't wanna buy tons of Ether adapter without being sure, and my Linux scripting sh is a bit weak. Hence not risking.
2. OTG to Wimax dongle
Device detects something in host mode but need help setting up drivers and then the login info. The dongle used is by a Bangladesh provider called BanglaLion using Brcm chipset.
I was able to gather drivers for these in Ubuntu as the same chipset
is used by Smith Clear (maybe an American is?)
However because there's no Front end UI to config this, I've not been able to. Correctly verify device, frequency and login info.
Any help from senior mod maniacs?

Generic USB devices on HD2?

Assuming USB hub functionality is present on the HD2, does anyone know if standard USB devices (e.g.generic keyboards or standard USB memory sticks) could be used on HD2 without having to install special drivers?
I'd like to know this to!
And like the G02, can I use a gamepad on this baby?
Given that USB host isn't supported how do you expect the device to have the drivers for it?
According to various reviews I've seen, USB host is supported.
sent them a mail
hello, just a quick question regarding the new HTC HD2,
does is "support" USB host, i.e can I plug in ,say, a USB memory stick (Generic devices)?
best regards

lets see how fun the answer will be...
Well, there are no drivers for peripherals in the leaked ROMs, no official information, nothing that would really indicate USB host support. It may be enabled somehow via hacks, but that would certainly mean that drivers need to be installed separately.
got a reply from HTC today;
"It doesn't support"
thats a shame really, hoped it would have... no TV out and no usb host, that sucked
how would it work to extract the host drivers from another device?
Could they be used on the HD?
(I think not after what I have read, but it just might work)
may be you can try thoses drivers :

and some proper cabe because you may have to add a input power cable and see if it works and tell us

USB Ethernet adapter and driver for Note

Hi,
i would really need a USB Ethernet adapter for my Galaxy Note. I searched forums and all i found was for tablets. I also noticed several times that people were talking that you can build the driver for specific device from official driver. If i understand right i could buy some USB Ethernet adapter and then build it's driver for galaxy note? Or not? Or is there maybe some "universal" driver already made?
I would be really thankful if someone explained this a little more.
Tnx

The drivers are included in the linux kernel of android, so the driver support is directly linked to the version of the kernel used on your device.
A small search gave me a result: look for USB to RJ45 Ethernet Adapter on amazon (you'll need a USB - micro usb adaptater tho.

So if i understand there are drivers already in kernel? Because i'm almost sure i red before that there are no drivers in kernel so this doesn't work out of the box.
I have OTG adapter so this is not problem. I'll try and buy some adapter and we will see if this will work. I have hydra-core kernel on stock rom.

Sadly you'll have to try by yourself, but apparently, the one i found on amazon (around 16£) works on android 3.1+ devices.

Aham Do you maybe have Name and model of that device?

Ebay Adapter
Hi,
here is my unhelpful comment:
I have one of the little buggers (see attached image) boght on eBay:
Search for "USB to LAN RJ45 Network"
It works under Linux and identifies itself as:
"Davicom DM9601 USB Ethernet" and uses the Linux-Kernel-Module dm9601 (as it seems).
(NOTE: One strange thing: The newly bought device uses a MAC address, that was registered to an colleague on our network here. So it spoofs the address?!?!)
Combined with the Host-USB-Adater (OTG) it can be connected to the N7000 - BUT:
A) The LED lights up and blinks to show the trafic on the line
B) Nothing happens on the screen
C) In Elixir it shows up as
Name: /dev/bus/usb/002/002
ID: 2002
Product-ID: 38656
Vendor-ID: 4070
I Get no Menu to configure the wired connection.
So I guess there is no Driver.
I Used Hydracore v7 and Thor Kernel 0.26. (which is WAAAY slower then hydracore)
are there other things I could try?
This looks an interesting idea, wonder is its possible to to have PoE as well, disconnecting network access just to charge would be pretty annoying otherwise.

[Q] Connecting HTC One to LAN port

I would like to connect the HTC One to a LAN port via a usb-ethernet adapter, for wired internet access.
I know some phones such as Nexus 5, and tablets like nexus 7, 9, 10 have the functionality.
Does the CM on HTC One have this functionality? Can it be loaded?
Thank you.

Very much so.. I've done it myself using a USB otg to ether adapter.
With a off and root with the rom of your choice (revolution, coin etc) - install the kernel from flar.
Elemental × version 14/20 depending on whether you're phone is Google edition, sense 6 or 7.
The kernel allows all sorts of capabilities. I have even played games using xbox gamepad. This kennel recognises way too many things to list.
Long as your ether adapter is compatible with an average win 7 or Ubuntu then it should auto install drivers on phone. Certain Chinese cheaper accessories aren't recognised as their chips are probably incompatible.
Any search should get you to the download link. Read it, understand it thoroughly before flashing kernel. Nothing should happen if common sense is used. I'm not aware of your experience in this so just letting you know not to yell at me if something is installed incorrectly. ?
Here
Thank you for the reply and information. It is great to know such a possibility exists.
Unfortunately I am totally new to this, and have no clue how to install kernels or change settings at that level!
If you would know of a tutorial on the web that is geared for novices like me do let me know.
Also, are there kernels to enable using the ppp2 widget with a usb modem for phones?
Thanks again,
Babak

Could you recommed a usb ethernet adapter which you know works?
For the LAN connectivity, is your connection stable?
How is the Elemental root, stable?
Thanks again!

HTC Desire 626s OTG (specifically audio OTG)

Device is an HTC Deisre 626s with Virgin Mobile. Android 5.1, rooted following directions from the thread here (Thanks guys!).
I looked through the forums and didn't find much information on OTG. Previous threads mentioned that there seems to be only OTG capabilities if the source is providing the power, not the phone. I have a FiiO E18 which does provide power, but my phone does not seem to recognize anything being connected. USB Host Diagnostics says that Android API has Claims support and Classes found, but No Device deteced, Kernel has No Claims Support, and verdict is No OS support and No 3rd party apps. Does that mean there's just no audio OTG capability with this phone?
I'm a noob so let me know if I'm missing anything

Enable AX88772 CHIP SET on Android 7.0

Hello,
I am not a developer but hope to get some support here as samsung has not been a big help so far.
Before updating Android versions my Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 SM-T713 would connect to Ethernet via the plugable USB 2.0 OTG Micro-B adapter.
It seems that the specific chipset used by the adapter is no longer enabled on this specific device, while I am told it is still included in all Android version 4 and up.
So my question is how can I enable the AX88772 CHIP SET in order to regain ethernet connectivity.
I tried going into dev mode and selecting "RNDIS Ethernet" in the USB configuration but that did not do anything.
Another issue possibly related is that when connecting the tablet to a Win 10 laptop it is not recognized. Here I tried many solutions including installing the media pack and other options available. No success. If this is an unrelated problem then I will post this secondary issue in another post.
Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Is there a reason why you need Ethernet rather than wifi?

Yes, we live in a house without wifi on purpose. My wife get's immediate headaches and body pains when she is exposed to a direct signal. After having been removed from it for several years in our house I feel the same way when it is on. Our house is wired and we use both ethernet over power or ethernet over coax depending on what room we are in. The last one works beautifully.
