I don't think he was talking about the AT&T Drivemode app. Car mode is a completely separate app from Samsung.

Car mode is already on the phone, it is built to automatically detect when you place the phone in a car dock and it will launch car mode, which is similar to easy mode. I am not sure if any car docks other that the Samsung branded car docks will activate the mode though. It is done through the USB connection.

Hey all,
This is my first post after getting my captivate yesterday. I am running on the new Jh7 firmware with SRE 1.3c and ext 2 lag fix. My phone is blazing fast with a 2400 quadrant score. All of this thanks to a wonderful community. Just wanted to give a quick thanks to everyone on here as everyone is great.
Now for my question, my buddy has an evo4g and on his phone he's got a car mode or car dock app that brings up just the essential things needed while driving. I cannot seem to find this app anywhere.
If someone can provide an apk or lead me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it.

Search for Captivate in the Market and it should bring up the Samsung apps for Desk and Car mode as well as some other goodies.

Do a market search for captivate, you'll find one for home and car. Though for home I suggest buying klaxon from clockwork. Good app that supports an awesome dev.

They are still around, I found them just fine.
Just type in "Car Home" in the market search and it will bring up several alternatives.
;-p My "Car Mode" is my pocket. I don't txt/call while driving.
But Car Home is the one you want. If anything might be able to find just the .apk here on the forums somewhere.
You might not be able to access it with eclair, or at least if you run cognition 2.2 and it declares itself as eclair

Pretty sure it's a froyo app, at least I never saw it on the market until I got Cogs froyo.
Got it on stock 2.1 kernal and rom here, still on my market.

You might want to check out the google car home app. It can be configured to startup when you connect to a bluetooth headset.
hrm that's wierd couldn't find it using cog 2.1.5.. will update to froyo and check it out

Google Car home is only for Froyo.
Captivate Car home works with 2.1.

Is there a way to make your phone go into the desk mode (clock.app) when its plugged into power/computer/cheap dock or something specific?
It already does this when plugged into a genuine dock, but there problem is its expensive and im poor, therefore dont have a genuine dock.
There is a way to add an option to your desktop in other launchers, but I'd rather it be automatic.

You already have it. Open your stock Clock app and there is a Desk Clock tab. You can run it full screen too.

Just an fyi, docking is a sure fire way of wearing out your amoled pixels. Why would you want to deliberately destroy your screen?

You can use Tasker to create a profile to do this. And you can use Tasker to do so many other things too.
There is also on{X} which a fairy new app that allows you to make your phone do certain things based on conditions you set it to do

get some NFC tags, you can have tasker turn on bluetooth and launch whatever, you can then differentiate between car charging and home charging
I noticed this app in the Samsung store under entertainment, it works brilliant to control your TV from your gear. Your phone needs to be near by of course. Just thought I would share.

Good good. Don't use IR remotes anymore. But this is definitely a brilliant way to use the Gear (or any smartwatch).
My hope is that Logitech will do something similar for their harmony app for the harmony smart or harmony ultimate. (or published a sdk for it). A big big advantage of the Logitech solution is that the remote app communicates via Wifi with a wifi hub which in turn translates the commands in IR code. Especially for a Smartwatch setup this works great. You don't need to point the phone because everything is send via Wifi instead of Infrared.

If it were available to me in the store I wouldn't have asked for the .apk but thank you none the less.

A trick, i'm not sure if it will work.
Access the Samsung Apps via the Gear Manager. I did and live in Venezuela and no problems, downloaded the remote from peel.

Its working for me, but it always acts like a DVR and I can't get it to show me channel change, just volume and dvr controls. My cable box is also a dvr.
Am I missing something or was the "Car Mode" option removed in the Note 5?
I used this when docked in the car on the Note 4 using a NFC tag.
I just got mine today and I see Car Mode listed in the "Galaxy Apps" as a download.

It's not a flashable ZIP, just a few APKs that I zipped to upload as one file.
I have seen it in samsung app store. Also going in application list i see car mode apk still present. I have Note 5 with Verizon!

Would someone be willing to extract the samsung car mode apk and post it online so that I can install on my AT&T Note 5. Apparently AT&T made a deal with Samsung to not allow this particular app in the Galaxy app store. I guess they see it as competition with AT&T's drive mode app. Thanks in advance!

Was able to download and install but the app will not start, and force closes. Not sure why, but I'm certain it's at&t's fault.

Do you have Car Mode Stub installed?
I'm not sure what you are asking and don't see anything on a search but I am interested and will be searching more. If you could elaborate it would be much appreciated
Car Mode Stub is an APK and you would find it under all applications if it is installed on your phone. I believe you have to have that APK installed as well as the Car Mode app.
Do you guys have the latest car mode for galaxy with mirrorlink? I think its version 3 and its only available on note 5 thru Galaxy Apps store.
