Charged my phone and overnight night I got a 15% drain. I feel like that is a pretty high drain. 2% every hour at idle. Awake time shows about the same time i was sleeping. Any suggestions?

I turned of Enhanced LTE (Voice over LTE) under network settings. From around 11pm to 7am I went from 100% to 97%. Give that a try. It was reported that Cell Stand-By was bugging and draining battery.
Will give it a try! Thanks!

This did not work for me but I might be seeing a different issue. The one I'm experiencing and have read elsewhere is the Cell Standby drain. Enhanced LTE is disabled yet I'm still getting this constant drain. I've even done the other suggestions: clear cache from recovery, factory reset, calibrate the battery. This was all fairly random too; there were times when Cell Standby would not show up at all and my battery drain would be normal. Wasn't there an issue on Android 5.0.x with battery drain which is why they pushed out 5.1 so quickly?

Yesterday, my cell standby was 1st on the battery usage listing. No issues with it today. Only thing I think I did was disable the enhanced LTE. Haven't even restarted.
The samsung push app update was suppose to improve battery consumption not sure if it will but fingers are crossed.

I was hoping the same thing but apparently, for me, it is not. What's odd is that I'm still averaging about 6h sot with normal use. I don't consider 6h sot bad at all so maybe this is just "normal" now?
My secret is to disable LTE and WiFi if I'm not using the phone, and only use WiFi if Im on lunch or break from work.it sucks but my battery life is now awesome.try it out

Try to also delete the cache from the recovery boot menu (PWR+ VOLUME UP+ HOME BUTTON). That with the enhanced LTE turned off worked for me.
it's just the settings and the apps processed.

I've got a doubt about battery discharging in my phone. When it normally discharges from 100 to 35% everything is in normal, with similar drops every hour for ex. 2 days. But (even in standby) when battery is on app 35% I see very fast drop to 25-20% in couple mins. At the beggining I thought it is maybe broken cell in battery but I notice that around camera surface is warm, not hot. So it is probably matter of software. What drains my battery so fast and always at app 35-30%? Do you have similar issues? I made factory wipe few charging cycles ago but it did not make any changes.
Do you use any of the power management settings like stamina more or....
What apps do you have installed?
Sent from my C6603 using xda premium
Yes, I always use stamina, I switched it off just before taking picture. I use dropbox, GO backup, Network Singal Info, netmonitor, Gmail and one additional mailbox. I have Google backup - off, Hangouty - logged off, google now - off.
Well, I don't use stamina mode anymore. I too had these sudden drops when stamina mode was on.
Try switching off stamina for a couple of cycles.
If you find that there are no drops, then you have your culprit.
So you mean not use stamina at all or switch it off at around app. 50%?
Try without stamina mode.

Get root access, charge to 100%,delete battery stats(or use battery calibration app),drain battery to 0%,charge again to 100%, now see if still the same problem...

I've tried once without stamina but I got visible faster discharging so now after update to 4.2.2 I am testing with stamina ON.

Deleting battery stats does nothing. I post this every time I see someone recommend it, but I feel that the point needs driving home until people realise that it is a placebo at best.

Sorry, it will not improve your battery, just if you have wrong indicated battery %,it maybe solve that. I solved a problem like that.my battery went from 50% down to 18 in a cuple of min.after deleting the stats and a few charges it was O.

No. The batterystats.bin file has no relation to the percentage displayed in the notification bar. It is used to calculate the usage statistics displayed in the battery usage section of settings. Nothing more. The file is deleted every time the battery is fully or nearly fully charged anyway.
The G+ post I linked to was written by an Android framework engineer, so I think they know their stuff

I am sure that I hadn't wrong percentages but period of strange drain battery (when % suddenly drops) because I felt warm temperature around camera. So I suspect any strange thread/wakelock/trigger.
What type of drain are people getting while phone is not in use?
Last night I dropped from 64% to 54% in 9 hours, despite the fact that better battery stats showed 97% deep sleep for the time period. Seems bad to me. On lots of other phones, overnight drain is in the 2 - 5% range.
Yes, active notifications are disabled while I sleep. I don't even have touchless control set up yet, so it can't be that. I have the same few location services turned on that I always do, and like I said, I usually see 2-5% overnight on other phones, not 10%.
Anybody else?
PS for those of you who want to say who cares, I did this test because I was noticing faster than usual idle drain during the day, too, but sleeping is the best time to get a long chuck of idle time.
Edit: could it be because the phone always has those sensors on waiting to to see if the phone moves to light up the time? Or the double twist for camera sensor always being on?

Get "Better battery stats" or a similar app to see what is running during idle. But to be fair that is just over 1% an hour.....that is not awful whatsoever. The only way you could get any better would be to disable any wifi/data, and those location services.....OR just turn the phone off completely. I've had phones that have had way higher drain on idle than 1.5%.

According to the Battery thread in this forum, some people experience a high overnight battery drain, and some get a low one.
I am currently a member of the high club. For battery testing, I have most things turned off, like location services and google now. Last night overnight drain (8 hours) took the battery from 76% to 58%... 18%. On my previous phone, the HTC One, the overnight drain would be around 6%.
I am curious about the people who are getting low (~5%) overnight drains. Do they all have Wifi off? What is their secret?! Do tell.

Install better battery stats to monitor what's going on. I think the one night I left it off charge over night I lost maybe 6-8% but I slept for like 10+ hours. This is with google now on, gps on, wifi on.
What i'm testing now that I think will actually improve batt life is having wifi turn off when display is off (unless plugged in). I think I noticed less idle drain at home when I did this but it was temporary. Giving it a shot over a few days now.
I leave wifi on and I get less than 5% drain. Nothing syncs when my screen is off except notification weather pro every two hours and Yahoo weather

Personally I think the X and new droids have idle drain issues. Even when better battery stats shows nearly 100% deep sleep overnight, I still lose 8-10%. In comparison, on my HTC One mini, which is setup EXACTLY the same as my X in terms of installed apps, syncing accounts, running services, etc., I lose only 2-3% overnight. The number of people complaining about the issue seems to confirm it is more widespread than on other recent phones, as do the countless screenshots showing unusually high android OS usage in battery stats.

I honestly believe it will be patched with the Camera.
I'm having the same issue. People are reporting crazy battery stats with like 20+ hours of use 2+ hours of screen on and like 20% battery left. I get MAYBE 12 hours of use and 2 hours of screen on and 20-25% left. My mediaserver is keeping the phone awake for almost an hour+ each day, and without root I can't figure out how to stop it. I always have GPS/Google Now/Bluetooth off, too.
I thought the drain was related to Wifi. But last night WiFi was turned off for the night and I still got 18% battery drain in about 8 hours.
Wifi at home and overnight. I get about 5% drain... however, the wifi at work kills my phones battery with the wlan wakelock.
Maybe there is something going on with the X and certain wifi networks?

Interesting theory but my overnight idle drain was approximately the same on both LTE and WiFi. 10-15%.

How about turning off all radios (flight mode) and observe battery drain at night. Then turning wifi while on flight mode the next night and see the battery drain and so on until you can pin point what causes the most drain.

You probably have a rogue app polling for a radio signal and putting it in airplane mode is making it worse.
The same wakelock doubled my battery drain last night. I had it in airplane mode overnight. Going to leave the signal on tonight and see what happens. I was getting between 3-7% but it was 15% last night.
Tested it again last night. Unplugged at 4pm yesterday and used 5% battery overnight. I just hit 24 hours with light/medium use today and battery is at 75%. I know others have shared this but battery life has certainly improved with time. The wakelock is certainly reduced leaving data connected overnight. Hope this helps.

GSam battery monitor has an option at the bottom that looks like a vacuum. Its called app sucker. Once that screen opens there is a drop down menu at the top that allows you to see the kernel wakelocks. Then you can select each wakelock and the next screen has a button there to google it. Hope this helps.

Looks like it's a big problem for alot more phones. I have the same wake lock also. I get about 1% per hour by leaving it overnight. Is that normal?

I think it is. But alot depends on your settings and the strength of the cell connection. Actually the cell connection is about the biggest battery drain that I have. I use Tasker on my phone. It disconnects my cell connection when the screen times out and limits anything running in the background. Calls and texts still come through. When the screen wakes up everything reconnects. Some would say the settings I use are extreme but I get good battery life from it. Tasker can be difficult to start at first but there are some good youtube how-to videos. Im hoping the new battery saving feature in lollipop will make it unnecessary to regulate any settings. I guess we will see.

This. I use tasker to turn off data and auto sync when I go to sleep (because its literally a waste of battery) and I got 0% to 2% drainage overnight (total, not hourly) but that was with a custom rom. I expect 0.5% to less than 1% per hour with this phone because at idle with 4g on I drain about 1%/hr
I have not rooted my phone, running 5.1.1.
My phone is draining like 10-15% per hour with very minimal screen on time or idle. more than that when I'm using my phone. Last time I checked, using Gsam, I was 4 hours off charger, an hour 30 of screen on time (most all of that was twitter and and using groupme) and i was at 34% battery. according to Gsam: screen used 29%, wifi used 30%, and app usage was at 33%. of all my apps, android system and kernel were the only ones above like 5%, so no rogue app according to gsam. That whole 4 hours I have been at my house with a stable wifi and cell signal.
I will get a screen shot if needed. But how can I figure out what is causing the huge wifi drain? "turning off wifi" is not a valid fix either. wifi should not use more battery than the screen and basically the same as all my apps.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Mine is acting pretty similarly. Usually I cannot break 2 hours of SOT in around 6 hours of being off a charger - pretty bad. I hear the Facebook app causes quite a bit of drain, so I'll first be getting rid of that to see what happens. If that doesn't work, I'll probably go the route of a factory reset. Maybe these might work for you too?
I'd also check and see what your location settings might be. High accuracy seems to be a killer. Same goes for HD voice or whatever it is for calls, which can be turned off in the settings.
Good luck!
I have hd voice disabled, i just disabled facebook (since its factory installed and they wont let you uninstall it, i hate that). i also turned off google fit, i'll see if that helps.
did anything help?
