let's talk chargers

so i need to get a new charger for my office....and with quick charge 2.0 coming out...are there any compatible chargers out there yet for sale? obviously its not yet supported on the phone, but would rather buy 1 charger now, versus one now, one later.
if not, can anyone recommend a good charger that will hit the stock values? i think its 1.5?
I believe it is supported already by the phone. It's about hardware not software I believe...

Yes, the M8 supports it, but HTC did not include a charger in the box for it, though they are coming out with it later.
I think, if I read the spec sheet correctly, that Quick Charge 2.0 supports 4A and higher? A 5 second search on Amazon only shows a 2.4A charger, but yeah I haven't seen too many above 2.1A.

phone comes with a 1.5a , 2.0 is 1.67a
However HTC's bundled charger, a 1.5A unit, only supports Quick Charge 1.0. So it'll still be pretty fast — significantly faster than what you're used to if you're coming from last year's HTC One (M7). But for the full Quick Charge 2.0 experience you'll need to wait for a charger accessory HTC plans to release later this year, which will support 1.67A as well as the latest Quick Charge standard.

I believe that quote from AC is meaning that HTC's charger will be 1.67A, which really isn't going to be much of a difference from the 1.5A block included. QC 2.0 should support much greater than that, at least according to Qualcomm. A 2.1A or 2.4A charger is probably your best bet for now until higher output chargers come out =\

What's different about the M8 Charger?

I've been out of town and only bought a couple chargers with me. I'm finding some weirdness as I do some tests with these and some other device I borrowed while here.
Basically, the M8 Charger seems to only work to charge the M8. It doesn't work to charge a Galaxy S5 or an iPhone.
I have successfully used the following to charge all 3 phones:
- Computer USB (0.5 - 1.0 A)
- iPhone Charger (1A)
- iPad Charger (2.1A)
- RAV power brick (2.1A)
However the M8 charger will ONLY charge the M8.
It clearly isn't an amperage issue since the M8 charger is only 1.5A.
So what is it?
Since all the other adapters I tried seemingly work on the M8, but the M8 adapter only works on the M8, I'm wondering why I don't just throw the M8 charger into the "bin of forgotten things" ?

Yeah I think they are but you will get a better answer from the m8 users
I think the question you need to ask is, why your M8 charger isn't charging other devices, yet my one does!?

I've used my M8 charger for a Note II, an iPod and an iPad with no issues. Something's wonky with yours, imo.
I don't know, but something is off about mine. The stock ROM throws a fit about it not being the OEM charger and that it's in slow charge mode. It's the stock OEM charger I took out of the box one week ago. Lol. 1.5A and all.
It does still charge though, and it charged my HTC Droid Incredible, iPod 5G and Classic, along with my BlackBerry Z10. No issue there. Just the opposite.
I'll assume it's ok though, I just plug it in for the night. And I'm now on the GPe ROM so it doesn't pop up slow charging info, and I don't miss it.
I'm wondering if it just can't match the 1.5A it's supposed to have, maybe falling short? I'd try a 2A charger, but I haven't got any since I sold my iPad. And my Z10, Dinc, and iPhone/iPod chargers are all 1.0A. But since I only charge it at night, it doesn't make a difference anyway.
I'd love to know what's up with yours though. Something about HTC chargers seem to be odd. The one from my 2010 Incredible works, but makes a terrible whine so I can't even use it. It started maybe a year in and I switched to another brick that's been fine since.
Maybe you should try charge to BlackBerry playbook?

What's the fastest way to charge the M7 ?

Dear all, As you can see from the title I want to know what's currently the fastest way to charge the HTC One M7, The supplied HTC charger which comes when you purchase the phone charges the phone way too slow, takes almost 3 full hours to charge from 0 - 100% and when you are using your phone at the same time it tends to charge even slower hence extending the 3 hour time required for a full charge. I know that HTC has released some sort of new charger that is meant to charge up the device a lot more quickly but I am not sure whether that one is compatible with the M7 or only with the newer HTC devices.
Also, if that charger is not compatible then are there any other 3rd party chargers compared to the HTC's own charger that will charge up the device more quickly ? The HTC's own charger is 1A whereas some on the market are 2.4A etc
Please any suggestions as to what charger is faster and more effective also please send links where I can purchase it.
Thanks.
You want a 2.0amp charger and a 24/28awg USB cable. That will shorten the time to about less two hours . you won't get quick charging ability but it will be an improvement.
Dear @eosman
Many thanks for your reply, can I kindly ask you to provide me with any links that you may have about the 2amp chargers which are good in your viewpoint for the M7. Also im not quite sure what cable you are talking about so if you can send me a link to for example eBay or Amazon where sellers may be selling these cables. As I might want to buy.
Thank you!
HTC Rapid Charger for M7. U can find em on HTC.com or Amazon. It states that it will charge this phone up to 40% faster than stock oem charger.. and it actually does..
@ bdizzle 1686,
Thanks for your reply.
Yes I have heard about the HTC Rapid Charger 2.0 however, I have seen some other chargers also that are much higher in Amp than this one so question is will that charge the device even faster?
This HTC Rapid Charger is only 1.65A/ 1.25A in output whereas there are some chargers that go up to 2.4A so are those an even better choice or should you avoid them because there is a chance they can harm the device ?
Please let me know.

The rapid charger will be a big improvement compared to the 1.0amp stock charger. Going from 1.65amps to 2.0 amps will get you a 'little' bit more but the HTC M7 will only charge so quickly. Anything over 2.0 is useless for the M7. HTC only allows the M7 to be charged at a certain amperage to prevent the battery from being damaged/ overheating.
@eosman,
Can I please ask you to send me links to Amazon or eBay website whereby I can get this rapid charger 2.0. I have found many but they aren't HTC original product they are just third party chargers.
So if you find any decent priced and its original htc product then please send me a link.
Thanks for the information regarding the charging, I also kinda realized that anything over 2A would be useless as i tried a charger which was 2.4A and there wasn't much improvement in charge time as compared to 2.1A maybe. Also the rapid charges supports Qualcomm Quick Charge which is again a plus point to use with smartphones which use in-built Qualcomm processor chips.

Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 or 3.0 will work best. 3.0 will automatically downgrade to what you need. Our devices were made for 2.0, but 3.0 is backwards compatible.
I gave some links for good prices here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=69628621&postcount=3
Less than $10 with free shipping for inside the U.S. Less than $4 with free shipping if you are willing to wait 2 - 4 weeks.
I dont Live in US,so Such chargers are not available IN country Pakistan so need suggestion which i can buy.Can i buy tronsmart 3.0 charger?

The 2-4 week shipping - FOR LESS THAN $4 U.S. (about 400 Pakistan rupees, compared to the current 1,350 Pakistan rupees for the charger you mention) are international dealers from Asia (China, Malaysia, Philippines). If you can't use those, sorry, but beside answering your question I also gave more options -- VERY CHEAP OPTIONS --just like you asked.
You just don't bother to read.

I don't think any of the Anker, Aukey, Ravpower etc (even ones that are 50W, 65W or more) can charge this phone at max speed due to difference in protocols. I'd love If I can find a third party charger to charge phone at full speed.
However, some people suggested this:
https://www.ebay.fr/itm/202868041821
It's a little expensive, but it should be a genuine charger.
However if you didn't have that in mind and wanted something different, any charger you use that has a PD or QC 3.0 standard will charge the phone at 18W.
Thank you for the reply! I have several 18w chargers & I found a 30w wrap charger that comes withe the one plus 8 I matter of fact I don't have the possibility to buy online only at local stores unfortunately, but thank very much for your advice and have a nice day.
