I have Moto g 2nd Gen Indian edition phone
I have been experiencing a strange issue with my phone from past week, when I lock down my phone via power button or closing the cover of magnetic flip-shell or whether it locks it down itself after 'screen time out' automatically the display just shut downs.
The phone is actually working in background as I can see LED notification sometimes. And when I connect my phone to PC via USB it even shows the Internal storage folder. I can even feel vibration on Powering off the device.
When I try to reboot the device, it boots up normally with Motorola logo animation and everything works fine until device gets lock down and this scenario continues as I reboot it again.
Sometime I can feel the bottom speaker grill getting hotter until I 'Power Off' the device forcefully.
So far I have tried fast booting the phone it boots up normally but issue is still there.
I even tried to run the phone in the safe mode but the issue persist even in safe mode.
I even wiped cache partition and also performed 'Factory Reset' via hard reset and soft reset but nothing is working.
I want to clarify that my phone isn't under warranty and also I have not even tempered my phone's software it is completely stock with android version 5.0.2 (recently updated via OTA).
I'm not allowed to post the image as a new user that's why I have written some software specific detail as below.
System version: 22.56.3.titan_retaildsds.retaildsdsall.en.03 retin
Build No: LXB22.99-16.3
Base band version: MSM8626BP_1032.3112.96.00R EMEA_DSDS_CUST
Kernel version: 3.4.42-g0bea67a

I don't think the 'Power Button' can be faulty as it's working as intended properly and almost all the time I use the official Motorola 'Magnetic flip-shells' so I rarely use the power button.
I suspect that this issue may have been caused by some virus or malware as I had visited some torrent hosting and too much ad hosting sites before the issue started.
I contacted Motorola support via chat session and they asked me to get it to the service center, but I have read very bad reviews about service center near my location and I'm afraid to go there.
Although I'm a software developer but in the area of 'Android development' I'm totally noob so joined the XDA to solve the issue with the help of experts.
Can I have some suggestion, solution on this issue? Any help of yours is appreciated.
Also I want to know that if 'Hard reset' can't solve the issue, does that mean the software of device has corrupted?
Try a hard reset first
If not solved use an easy installer

Well Hello sir thanks for the prompt reply, as I said earlier:
So far I have tried fast booting the phone it boots up normally but issue is still there.
I even tried to run the phone in the safe mode but the issue persist even in safe mode.
I even wiped cache partition and also performed 'Factory Reset' via hard reset and soft reset but nothing is working.
So hard reset is not working for me which I have performed 2-3 times, I guess I have to go through your another suggestion.
Ok, so by 'easy installer' did you mean this method described in below link?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/general/official-stock-firmware-5-0-2-lxb22-46-t3019612
I think method in #Post 1 is for my phone.
Does anyone have other solution or advise? Your guidance will be appreciated.

Thank you,
The Easy installer method requires 'USB debugging enabled and RSA key Allowed', so I have enabled 'USB debugging' but I never get the 'RSA key allowed' dialogue.
I tried to attach cable to the different USB ports but I never get the 'RSA Key allowed' dialogue, How can I overcome this issue?
Thats not a pblm get in just fastboot mode click installer and select option for locked boot loader

but as suggested by @reefuge in post #13 and #post16 in link below
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/general/official-stock-firmware-5-0-2-lxb22-46-t3019612/page2
that 'Phone must have USB debugging enabled and RSA key Allowed, Usb cable plugged in and in normal use mode'
1. I have USB debugging enabled. If I plug in my Moto G a icon appears in the Notification-Center which says "USB debugging activated please click to disable"
2. if I go into the Device Manager I can see Android Device
3. I changed my USB-Setting to PTP
but nothing works.

no it does NOT require USB debugging anymore (that was version 1) You must be able to put phone manually into AP FASTBOOT mode by correct key combo
read instruction in zip file and attached here

Thank you @reefuge sir for the reply.
Does that mean I don't need Phone with 'USB debugging with RSA key allowed'?
All I have to do is to run the 'Magical batch file' of yours and watch the magic show in PC?
Ok one more question, I don't want to irritate you but I'm helpless and confused,
I wanted to ask you that after following this step in sequence:
1] ALL needed files are in the zip file you downloaded TO PC (not phone) including stock ROM files
2] Install Motorola device manager 2.5.4.exe for correct Usb drivers (choose repair if already installed) and install minimal ADB /fastboot v 1.31.exe
3] plug in Usb cable and PUT phone into AP Fastboot Flash mode
4] by holding power and volume down ( - ) until phone powers off to blank screen (may vibrate)
5] still holding both buttons count 1,2,3,4,5 and release both same time
6] Hopefully you should be in AP Fastboot Flash mode with USb cable plugged in?
7] if No go back to step [3] if YES continue
8] do not select anything on phone or press any more phone buttons - All done via pc no
9] Now run the EASY INSTALLER.bat file and watch both pc screen and phone screen
I assume that your program will show me following different menu options:
1)Flash stock ROM --- will flash stock rom / Logo / boot & recovery.img / modem files and bootloader -- this DOES NOT wipe phone so can upgrade / dirty flash keeping settings
2)Lock bootloader --- as above but locks boot loader --- tbh always better to use option 1)
3)Flash Fixed Logo -- Fixes the unlocked Boot Loader Warning EVEN if unlocked still
4)Reboot Phone -- Reboots phone --
5)Factory Reset --- wipes DATA and CACHE --- IF phone hangs at BOOT LOGO, do this Action. ALWAYS use if DOWNGRADING or Coming from A CUSTOM ROM
6)Exit --- Closes command prompt window and exits
from above 6 menu options, which options do I have to follow(related to my phone's condition) in sequence to revive my phone?
I have moto g which is unrooted, stock and with locked bootloader.
You valuable reply is appreciated

Thank you @reefuge sir for the prompt reply and for your guidance, which actually makes the task easier for me many thanks to you sir.
I will try step '[1], [5] and [4] to FULLY wipe and reset phone as new' as mentioned, and pray to god that my days of misery gets over, to revive my phone.
Do I have to place the 'extracted folder' in my PC's root folder(which is C: drive) or I can place that 'extracted folder' anywhere on PC and execute the 'eastinstaller.bat' from there?

Hi, I have P10 VTRL09 .. A couple days ago i did relock bootloader and now i can not enter my phone.it stuck at Error mode.
I tried almost every method but it always comes back to error mode. I discharge the batterry and charge, if I am lucky, sometimes it will boot into the system but it will black out. I can not do anything except turn off, but while it was in this stage, i could connect to pc and get detected. pc try to install MTP driver but it also failed. I tried command in adb, it also failed (waiting for devices) ....
Issues :
1.boot loader locked
2.no recovery ( can not be load )
3.can not enter fastboot
4.can not force update
5.PC not detect
Question : Is there a way to make my phone go to fastboot ? so i can relock bootloader with adb and flash new firmware.
i appreciate all the help...please help me.
I have exactly the same issue. With identical error codes. Still trying to work out a solution.
on the Huawei website, the had a bootloader.img installer for older models but none for the p10/ p10 plus
Any advice would be appreciated
Let phone completely discharge even it power off automatically. Then put the phone on the charging it will boot up to system then go to settings >advanced settings>back up&reset> reset all settings
when it boot i cant see anything except black . i can only turn off or volume.
Connect with pc and press power and vol-
It should boot into fastboot. You got the error cause wrong or broken recovery.

Hi, I was having the same problem. Mate 8 EMUI 8.
After looking everywhere and trying all the options available, I wasnt able to resolve.
Finally, I tried FunkyHuawei and got my system back through eRecovery.
Gave them the readings like version no. , build no...etc through fastboot. The required info is on their site. They then reverted with a link of the firmware which I flashed through their FuHunbrick tool. It force updates the entire full last version.
After flashing and booting, the system didnt boot but was able to go to eRecovery and restored my previous version.
If you or anyone else stuck at this error, they can try at their own risk as they dont guarantee anything.
Edit: you should and will be able to boot into fastboot once the battery is totally down and phone shuts off completely. Just press volume down button and insert usb. Try again and again if it doesnt work first time.
Thanks.
Help
First sorry for my English
I have a similar issue:
Huawei P10 Lite
I managed to install TWRP, but when I did that I lost the OTA upgrades, then I tried to install the stock recovery and then the phone doesn't start. It just stay on the first screen (the one with the Huawei logo) and it gets hot as hell. The combination of keys doesn't work, the power key just reboot and gets back to the logo screen. I need your help guys, the phone is 3 month old. Thanks

Hi, let the phone battery dry out totally first. Totally. It should not vibrate at all when you press power button. Leave for a couple of hours more.
Then recharge to 50℅ or more and restart and see if you get to eRecovery or other options.
Are you getting any error screen after logo?
You will definitely get to fastboot by pressing volume down button and inserting usb. Try again n again.

Hi. I did the battery part and the part of the pressing the vol - is and connecting to pc. It started but didn't got into fastboot or bootloader, just turned on normally and then I ran the adb command "adb reboot recovery" and I had to do the battery part again. I am afraid to run "adb reboot bootloader" because the risks of the draining out the battery. I mean my phone does not enter into recovery.
Another help me post so please understand this is my last breath asking for guidance and advice, here goes.
I have a huawei p9 thats gotten an unlocked bootloader. in the past i added twrp and flashed a custom rom. somewhere down the line my its gotten really bad. i cannot select twrp recoverey mode nor can i manualy boot into twrp because my custom rom closes dev options in my settings. as i click it instantly closes. this happens to magisk and twrp app on the phone. so since i cannot enable oem unlock or usb debugging i cannot use my pc to harbour my device, adb shell wont recognise the device when opened in the adb directory using serveral guides.
here is a list of what i cannot do,
fastboot&rescue mode is it's only reboot function apart from loading custom firmware.
cannot access twrp thats on the device (used it to flash a firmware, also tried the .apk)
windows adb wont recognise the device neither will hisuite (huawei's windows device manager)
cannot load dev options even though i have it unlocked through clicking build 7-10 times. (opens and closes simultaneously)
i cannot enable usb debugging via dev options (custom firmware wont load it even though it's unlocked)
once phone reboot's into recovery mode it says android reason reboot; cold boot N/A (phone unlocked/FRP unlocked) no options to navigate from there.

i have found it, thank you.
I've ran into the following problem:
came home and try to open my phone, code doesn't work to unlock screen. Unless I'm going insane was sure the code was correct twice.
Restart phone, stuck on enjoy.now for a long time, goes to alcatel logo, then goes into an Android Recovery message saying "can't load Android system. Your data may be corrupt."
Then 2 options: try again or Factory data reset.
I've managed to find the following possible solution: https://glebovdev.medium.com/how-to-fix-cant-load-android-system-issue-8a5b0ead5a15
..but I can't even get to recovery screen with more than 2 options. It would be a huge pain if I have to factory reset.. should it be possible to get to recovery mode on my phone as well?
Is there any possible way to get the data off the phone (mainly Google Authenticator to which I'm not sure I have the codes anymore)?
Thanks

It could be that your device is trying to boot to the inactive slot, verify in fastboot mode which slot is marked as active and try to boot either in A and/or in B slot.
Idk if I'm doing something wrong but holding volume up or down as it restarts, the only boot screen I get is:
Android Recovery
TCL/5003d_EEEA/Curie
8.1.0/OPM2.171019.012/5003d_ALWE_EEA_V3
user/release-keys
(aforementioned error)
Try again
Factory data reset
fastboot mode should show other options right?

Well, fastboot is to interact through fastboot commands and you can check from there the slot that is active with
Code:
fastboot getvar all
and you see something like slot_active xx
When I run adb devices in powershell it does not show any devices connected (although the device does show as connected in Windows device management).
In device management it does show as "MTP USB device".
Is this likely to be a driver issue?

It's technically powered on but yes still does nothing but bootloop and try again/factory reset screen. There's no possible other way to get to Android recovery mode when the volume down+power option doesn't seem to be working?

Device has to be strongly and consistently on so adb commands can work, they can't work while in bootloop so forget it this way.
What you can try is tipically pwr + vol. up and pwr + vol. dwn, one of them will take you to fastboot mode where you can give it a try to what I pointed out in previous outputs.
OK some progress.. apparently you have to let go of power button and volume up right as the alcatel logo appears, the timing seems to matter. I'm now able to see Android recovery with more options at least so will try from there.
Thanks again for taking time to reply.
I've tried
Code:
fastboot getvar all
this results in <waiting for any device>
adb devices still shows no list of devices even though in Device Manager it shows as "Fastboot gadget" under other devices
I've downloaded drivers from Alcatel website in case it's a driver issue but on the list of model numbers during setup mine (5003D_EEA according to recovery screen) doesn't show.
I do see a bunch of websites allegedly offering these specific drivers but assume it's risky to download from anywhere other than Alcatel official site.

It seems to be a reliable site https://www.androidusbdrivers.com/alcatel-1-usb-drivers/ it offers the 4 different drivers needed covering all the modes that your device can enter to.
I would recommend mainly two things:
- Uninstall/remove firstly all the drivers that you don't use, it could be something for an old android/tablet that you don't use anymore.
- Don't swap the cable data from/for other device, any of them have its own type of connection, use the same proper cable data for only one device.
From there the typical first step in fastboot is just typing
Code:
fastboot devices
], if the message is "waiting for device" then it's not working.
hi im having the exact same problem, but cant get out of this. Could somebody maybe help me? How did you eventually fixed it? kindregards
Hi guys,
I have a Microsoft Lumia 820 where the display is broken. That was the reason why I tried to backup my phone - especially the several hundred of contacts. I used for this the WPinternals tool (version 2.9.2) to switch to mass storage mode and save the whole system. Unfortunately something must going wrong, because now the phone is in flash mode and no matter what I`m doing the red screen (flash mode) (photo 1) is always there. If I try a soft reset the same issue occur. I tried also to boot to normal mode, but it doesn`t work. WPinternals shows me the message: "Error: Phone is in an unexpected mode." (photo 2). The same occur when I try to unlock or restore the bootloader. I don`t want to flash the phone because of the contacts on the phone which I really need. Is there anybody out there which can help me in that case?
I`ve tried also the thor2 tool from the Windows Device Recovery Tool to change the state to normal boot via emergency mode, but the same issue occur. As you can see on the attached photo (photo 3) it is "not possible to boot to emergency mode with this version of phone SW." Are there other commands or tools where I can bring my phone back?
Thank you for your help! For me it is really necessary to get all the data from the phone, so every hint is welcome! If you need further information on this case please let me know!
