Does anyone know if the international S6 Edge G925F work on AT&T?
i'm debating if i should buy the international unlocked version so i get updates faster and less bloat, but i want to make sure the international model supports AT&T's LTE!

Yes, G925F will work great. Both devices support the same LTE bands, though the AT&T version also supports bands 29 & 30. This is not a huge deal as AT&T is not yet utilizing these. When they do, it will only be in heavily congested areas like big cities.
Somewhat related questions. 1. Where is a good place to buy the international version? 2. What options are there for insurance? I'm assuming that the AT&T insurance won't cover the international phone.
Does an international version also include an unlocked bootloader? I too am interested in what options there are for insurance. I am on AT&T as well.
What about the 925I what is the difference between the F and the I?
Guys,
I have the SM-G925F Gold 64GB and it doesn't work well with AT&T or T-Mobile. The reception is very bad compared to the AT&T model I have sitting next to it. The firmware must be tuned differently than what is needed for the US frequency bands. I can barely pick up LTE on either AT&T or T-Mobile when I have a great LTE signal on the AT&T variant SM-G925A sitting next to it. I would advise against purchasing the 925F.

Hi y2jdmbfan, could you use your dialer and enter *#0011# for both phones and let us know what band they are using? Also from this post, a user had to call AT&T to get the unlocked phone's IMEI registered on the AT&T network so it would be recognized as an LTE device. Thanks.

Here is the AT&T SM-G925A
Here is the International SM-G925F
I can post the LTE Discovery screenshots as well, which shows some craziness. The other part of this is that you can't get VoLTE or HDVoice with the International Version either...

Here are the screen shots, the 925F seems to be picking up LTE this morning down on my first floor where my PC is. There is definitely something screwy with the radio though on it. See below.

Thanks for redoing the pictures. You know you should call AT&T and just verify that your sm-g925f is a recognized LTE device on its network. They'll easily verify your IMEI. It wouldn't hurt to try before sending it back.
As per paperWastage post:
paperWastage said:
AT&T only gives you access to the LTE network if you have a LTE-capable device. AT&T detects this by checking the IMEI, or by someone manually flagging the account/IMEI
Since they don't sell the international version, they don't have your IMEI flagged as a LTE device. Therefore, you get only 3G/HSPA.
You need to "register" a AT&T phone on your device by calling in and telling them the IMEI (use your older ATT phone, or a display model at a store). Then, swap the SIM to your new phone
AT&T may still have your old AT&T phone tied to your account, and given you LTE access even though you switched to this new phone

I'm using the IMEI for the AT&T branded White Galaxy S6 Edge I have sitting here on both lines, so that is not the issue. Thanks though.
Just so I understand correctly. Each phone has its own dedicated IMEI that can not be changed. When you put your AT&T SIM in the SM-G925F you are connecting to their network with the dedicated IMEI of the SM-G925F. From paperWastage explanation, how does AT&T know the IMEI for the SM-G925F which is an international phone know its a recognizable LTE device for its network? From his explanation you have to call them so they can add the SM-G925F to the network as a LTE device. The reason I'm trying to clarify is BC I'll be receiving my SM-G925F sometime this week and if it really does not work like you're finding I may not even open it and send it back. It'll save me on the restocking fee if I do not open it. But like I said I'm trying to understand how this all works. Thanks again.

Basically each phone has it's own IMEI, but all that matters is what features / phone is provisioned to your SIM card. There is not way that you can call AT&T and get them to add the SM-G925F as a recognized LTE device, it won't happen. You can tie any IMEI number to your account / SIM card in order to get your line / SIM setup for a proper LTE plan. One method is to just go in the store and get the IMEI off another Galaxy S6 Edge that is AT&T branded and log into your AT&T account and change your device to that IMEI.
Got it! Thank you kindly for clarifying. So it looks like I'll have to go with an unlocked SM-G925A.

It doesn't need to be unlocked if you are using it with AT&T...the SM-G925A is an AT&T version.
G9250
I am on AT&T and I am thinking about getting a SM-G9250 which unlocked from Hong Kong. It radio frequencies support is superior to all other variants and it even has CMDA support. At same price, it seems better choice than I or F model ( I have G920I now and I am happy with connectivity). I will not be flashing roms and will stick to stock rom. But I'm worried about things like Samsung Pay. Do you guys think samsung will enable pay for specific models? Are there any other concerns about getting the 9250 instead of F or I?
Here are the bands supported by G9250:
LTE B1, B2, B3, B4(AWS), B5, B7, B8, B12, B17, B18, B19, B20, B25, B26, B28, B29
TD-LTE B38, B41, B40, B39
2G bands GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
CDMA 800
3G bands HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100
3G CDMA BC0(800)
3G TD-CDMA B34(2010), B39(1880)
Hey
where did you get the info on the bands for the different Models? i want to compare the models before i get it and i didnt know the G9250 actually supported the most bands..
Thanks !

From different Samsung regional websites. Go to TECH SPECS of each of these pages:
SM-G9250
SM-G925F

G9250
So has anyone tried the other versions? G9250 seems interesting, anyone tried it yet? can more G925F owners confirm the slow connectivity issue with AT&T?
thanks !

I am living in Canada, and all galaxy tab available in this country is P1000 which has the frequency band of HSDPA 900 / 1900 / 2100.
But I am in Mobilicity which uses AWS(1700/2100) network like T-Mobile. Therefore, I can't use galaxy tab with my provider.
Is there any possible way I can change the frequency of galaxy tab P1000 to 1700 / 2100 ???
Please~~ anybody has an idea? if it is a software issue, at least I can try~
p.s
if it is impossible, anyone knows a shopping website sells a used t-mobile galaxy tab with shipping at Canada???
I have a very similar issue. I bought a T-mobile tab in California with the promise that it would work in Mexico. What that promise was the truth it wasn't the whole truth.
Mexico's 3g system is in a frequency of 850/1900 mhz. The T-Mobile device is on 1700 mhz. I realize that frequencies are a function of physical antenna length but they can also be tuned (as a radio receiver) which is what a cell phone really is.
Is there a way to tune the receiver part to correctly function on a different frequency?
You two should trade tabs.
T-mobile uses 2100/1700 aws and cannot be changed to other data frequencies. So the best you get is EDGE.
Also, T-mobile tabs have to use both frequencies, so they don't get 3g in places that use only 2100.
At&t uses 1900/850 and cannot be changed either. There are tabs that use 1900/900.
The only quad band tab is the unlocked no carrier version.

Thank you for your response. In my case I cheaped out and bought T-mobile due to its price and the promise of receiving an unlock code. I was ignorant of the frequency issue until now...too late.
So now another question arrises. Since these devices are basically radios, wouldn't it be possible to write a piece of software that is essentially an antena tuner? Remembering my boyhood electonics (ham studies) it seems to me that any size radio antena can be "tuned" to the correct frequency with the right equipment. Or perhaps an after market hardware that utilizes the USB input port?
Just "spitballing" here but it seems to be an idea worth some money considering all of us who want more out of our devices. Any thoughts?
Yeah, buy the device with the right hardware for your carrier.
It's a hardware limitation. No piece of software will ever be capable of fixing it on earth. The hardware is not physically capable of those frequencies.
These devices are digital. When you went to school the radio technology was analog, and you could tune anntenas, but with digital, the wave is fixed only to the built in values, so no tuning possible.
Trading is easier.
@gspajon:
I use a Telcel Amigo sim in a t-mobile tab and a month to month data plan, 3 gigs of data and unlimited voice, for $30, and I can pay the bill through a website, or at any OXXO. The Telcel EDGE is pretty fast for surfing and navigating, and sending/receiving attachments. I can live with it.
Hey ranger I have the same deal and I too am able to find the edge network. However here in Progreso, Yucatan it is painfully slow. I'm sure that is a result of my distance from the main provider signal in Mérida. I am able to access the net and surf at speeds closed to dial-up. It's frustrating considering my tab is capable of so much more.
Botom line is I thought I hade reasearched this BEFORE I bought. The frequency issue never came up untill now...AFTER I spent the money. Oh well...my wife has an iPhone that I bought her here and I can link in to her with the router capability and my tab's wifi.
Thank you for your kind assistance...where in Mexico do you travel? You are welcome to visit here anytime...my house ison the beach and the weather here is almost always lovely.

Many people wish this was true, but the at&t tab has a different radio from t-mobile, and no modem can change that.

It is too bad about the tabs. I mistakenly bought a t-mobile tab too. I use it as a wifi tab most of the time.
I am a teacher in the US, but weekends and summers I am in Tijuana-Tecate building homes for poor families. We give away 250 homes a year, God willing.
My partner in Mexico grew up in the Yucatan - it is my wish to visit there some day!

Two homes student from my school built last month.
There is hope
I recently found a new device that allows me to use my tab here in mexico as is. This solution may not work for every one but it is working great for me. I recently purchased a mobile wifi router that works on Mexico's 3g system. Its the Huawei E5.
Its about the size of a small cell phone and I can connect to it using wifi. It is portable so I can just put it in my pocket and off I go. Now I didn't have to worry with unlocking the tab. I just leave the original T-Mobile chip in and use wifi here in Mexico.
I am quite certain this little device is available in Canada as well. That way you (I) can move freey between two nations without the "blah-blah" of this system vs that one and how I "should've bought" differently.
The cost was reasonable and I have stll paid less than an iPad. Not to mention I can also use my laptop here the same way as in the US. The service is very reasonable and is actually less costly than t-moble.
Hi, if I were to get an unlocked Galaxy Note GSM, would I have to do anything fancy to get HSPA+ (4G) to work on it?

I don't want LTE. I want T-Mobile HSPA+. Will it work by putting a sim card in it?
then you'll need to wait until T-Mobile repurposes their 1900MHz band for HSPA+. I don't know if they're doing it for the whole country, but it has started to happen in some areas already
But it is as simply as popping in my sim card?

Sorry but don't count on anything more the edge on TMobile, unless you are really lucky and you are in a 1900 Mhz area. If you want TMobile buy an AT&T Note and you will have to do some hacking to get the radio working on TMobile.

So there's no such hack for the international note? I don't understand how an internationally unlocked phone doesn't support USA GSM highspeed. My T-Mobile G1 supports HSPA+.

To be honest, I'm actually happy with me my broadband sim on AT&T. I just had the LTE code added to my account and I got a little boost in speed on HSPA+. I'm seeing 8Mbps down and the speed seems more stable then before. It does seem to be ramping up to max speed a little slower and I have a firm upload cap at about 1Mbps, before I occasionally would hit 1.5 Mbps. HSPA+ does seem to do Skype and Google Voice pretty well, I've been managing to use a a data sim as a phone quite successfully.

The international Note gets HSPA+ on the AT&T no problem. I'm currently enjoying my H+ icon with my Red Pocket sim card.
The International and American Notes have entirely different hardware inside. The American Note has a pentaband radio that can be reflashed for either AT&T or T-Mobile frequencies. The International note does not.

Wrong. The International Note has a pentaband radio. It's the same modem as the Galaxy Nexus GSM.
It just so happens that the AT&T Note shares the almost the same hardware with the T-Mobile S2 which makes it easier in terms of getting the modem from the T-Mobile S2 to work on the AT&T Note. This is why how they got the hack working on the AT&T Note.
This DOES NOT WORK on the Int Galaxy Note as we are running an Exynos/Infineon chip/baseband.
Okay. Instead of arguing with each other about who can spout-off the N7000's and i717's specs most accurately, why don't we just give the OP a simple, comprehensive answer?
Okay. To answer your question, the N7000 (International Note) will work perfectly fine on T-Mobile US. Phone calls, SMS messages, and data will all work perfectly. The issue, however, is not with the services you can get, but the quality of the services you can get. Even though the N7000 is an "international" GSM device, T-Mobile uses irregular frequencies for it's HSPA+ network. Specifically, instead of supporting HSPA+ on a single frequency, T-Mobile's HSPA+ service is divided between 1700MHz and 2100MHz in what is referred to as 1700/2100 AWS (Advanced Wireless Spectrum). Because AWS is a rare and unusual implementation of HSPA+, almost no "international" phone models support it. In most cases, only phones meant specifically for North America support it. What this means, simply, is that the N7000 will never be capable of using T-Mobile's HSPA+ network (unless you have the rare privelege of being in a 1900MHz HSPA+ area).
Now, just because the N7000 won't let you use T-Mobile's AWS HSPA+, it doesn't mean you can't have your cake and eat it too. Granted, it is a small concession, but the i717 is a "more than adequate" smartphone and will (with some minor modification) make neat work of connecting to T-Mobile's AWS HSPA+ network. Preliminary speed tests even suggest that the i717 is faster on T-Mobile's HSPA+ network than the N7000 is on AT&T's HSPA+ network. So, if you're willing to sacrifice the added speed and power the Exynos SoC offers, you could gain T-Mobile 3G compatibility and NFC to boot just by opting for the i717; which, I might add, is only $649.99 off-contract at AT&T.
If I can help clarify any confusion or answer any questions, please feel free to ask. I know there are a lot of people out there who feel very strongly about which version of the Note is superior. However, it's my opinion that when you come across someone who's undecided, you should simply give them the facts and allow them to make their own decision. Passionately mixing facts with opinion only serves to further confuse things.

Is there any other place in the U.S.A that sells the N9005 unlocked version?

I'd buy what you're looking for in a heartbeat - if it existed. So far it doesn't. At least not ln any of the N3's for the UK, EU, or Latin America that have been announced. The Korean S-800 SGS4 supports AT&T's bands so their N3 probably will also. But the Korean phones have funky TV h/w and a funky MMS system that's different than Western versions. Rogers' (Canada) version will be compatible with AT&T LTE and may be closer to "virgin" than AT&T's version. The challenge is warranty service both because you'd have to send it to Canada for repair (assuming Rogers' services a phone for a non-subscriber) and because Knox prevents resetting the warranty status if a non-standard ROM's been flashed. Speaking of which, you'd probably only be able to flash Rogers' ROMs via Odin unless their N3 was a "pure" i9505 capable of using international ROMs.
And as someone above mentioned there's some question as to what "unlocked" means with the N3 as there are now regional limitations on top of carrier's locking phones to their networks.
If I find a true international N3 that works on AT&T's LTE that's not regionally SIM locked I'll let you know. Until then I'm sticking with AT&T's version and hoping they haven't molested it too badly.
Thread cleaned.
Lets knock off the keyboard hero stuff and get back on topic.
The N9005 doesn't work on AT&T LTE, it is missing bands 700/1700

Will the N9005 work on the Rogers network in Canada? I have no idea what these bands and frequencies mean, I just know that I need LTE to work.

You can't just say "N9005" and expect to get an answer. "N9005" refers to generic Snapdragon 800 LTE capable version of GN3, but each country and carrier in the world has different LTE bands enabled in that Snapdragon's SoC radio. Find your Rogers here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks
It operates on bands 4 and 7 - none of the Euro countries' carriers work on band 4, as you can see from the list. AT&T USA, T-Mobile USA and Rogers CA should be LTE cross compatible in most coverage areas, but not all.
If you buy N9005 version with unlocked bootloader - later, when someone makes Odin compatible with GN3 you will be able to flash Roger's LTE modem firmware to your N9005, no matter which country it is from and what LTE bands it currently has enabled
]
Okay well I was looking to buy an unlocked N9005 from the UK. Since none of the euro countries work on band 4, what about band 7? Do both bands need to be working in order to get LTE? The problem with buying this in my country is that there wont be a 64gb option available.

Some carriers, which operate on dual band LTE use one band for upstream, and the other for downstream. If that is the case with Rogers you will have to have a phone with both bands enabled, to get LTE service from Rogers. However, even if that is not the case and both bands 4 and 7 are independent - Rogers has towers all over Canada, and in some regions those towers will operate on band 4, in other regions it will be band 7 and in some places towers will support both. By getting a phone that supports only band 7 you will greatly reduce your LTE coverage area. What percentage of Rogers' network uses what band - those details are publicly available, so you can either Google it or just call Rogers and ask. I would recommend against getting a phone, that supports only band 7, unless you plan on flashing Roger's modem to it later.
This not quite correct. A band, by definition includes both the up and downstream frequencies. Only one band is used at a time. Rogers happens to use band 4 and band 7. One is not reliant on the other. If you are in an area with band 7 coverage (most of Rogers LTE coverage has both) you will be able to use a N9005.

you're correct by claiming each band is self contained and and can carry both, upstream and downstream. However, each carrier owns only a small portion of the spectrum in the bands they operate on, and some carriers do practice using a single band for one way traffic only, in an effort to ease the network congestion and load balancing. I'm not saying it's Rogers - I have no information on that particular carrier, but some carriers do do that. I'm just saying for carriers, who use such practice, in order to get LTE service your phone's modem must have both bands enabled, otherwise it won't register with the network and you won't get LTE service at all.

The OP needs to take into consideration that If he buys from an online retailer an international unit, this unit will need to be activated in its intended region before he can use it in the states.

I've never heard of that. Seems like a problematic setup since the RF properties of bands can vary so much. Seems like you would get in a situation where you have up but not downstream or vice versa.
Yes, you would need a N9005 from Asia, not Europe as those are region locked.

that is a valuable information, which a lot of people, watching this thread could use, not just me. I don't think it will be considered as advertising. People in this thread are looking to buy international GN3, which will work on AT&T in US. If the phone is region locked then it won't work. Therefore, listing the countries, where there is no region lock would be very much relevant to this topic.

N9005 from HK or Singapore (perhaps others too) will work.
The South American N9000 are region locked to South American, North American, carribean etc. SIM cards (western hemisphere).

Greetings!
I see that there are many different threads asking about what bands are on each model. I have made a basic spreadsheet that has the various bands by model type. I have noted the resource that I have used for this. I'm still missing the SM920c model. If there are any mistakes or additional items please let me know and I will adjust accordingly.
http://1drv.ms/1L0LImY
I hope this is helpful for those importing and ordering for their specific needs.
Thanks for the time and effort
Nice job! This is what i've been looking for. I can't believe these devices are so different.
You are welcome! If someone has the SM-920C model and send me a picture from the back of the box this would be helpful!
I have a SM-N920C but unfortunately nothing is mentioned on the box about supported bands.
Will see next week if European bands are supported by this model
Check *#2263# under Band Selection
Already checked that and it looks promising. Though not sure if all those bands are supported...

Hi, thank you for your efforts on this.
Unfortunately, I'm not a tech person at all and don't really understand how to determine an answer to my question. I'm wondering if you can answer this for me:
I have a Note 5 that's the n920w8 model. It works with my Canadian carrier, Wind, which is AWS 1700/2100 to which they say, "20 megahertz AWS-1" (whatever that means). But they don't offer LTE yet (though they're working on it).
However, it's only 32gb. I've been looking to importing an international version that's unlocked and has dual sim. Its model number is N9208. However, I can't find a definite answer online of whether the imported version will work with my provider and I can't afford that $1000 gamble.
If I'm reading your chart correctly, the difference between the two is that the W model has 1700 and 2100 but the 920 only has the 2100. You've noted on the right that Wind uses that 1700. Since you didn't note on it, is the 2100 in your chart also Wind?
In short, should I import this phone?
Thank you very much.
Thanks for your work on that
No GN5 is compatible with 2600mhz 4G?
Best choice to import in France is choosing a N9208 ?
I can already confirm band 20 is supported by the SM-N920C.
And band 3 as well.
Can someone please confirm... According to this spreadsheet. The hongkong version N9200 and the N9208 will get LTE on the Canadian Rogers network?
I picked up a Silver Titanium Duo Sim version and it definitely works with Fido's LTE.
I am using n9208 on Rogers with lte
Sent from my SM-N9208 using XDA Free mobile app
Has anyone got the N9200 (dual sim) in the UK? I have seen it being advertised as supporting bands 20/26 for LTE.
@aez and @Deliximus, can I ask where you guys got your phones? And are either of you able to confirm they work on Wind? Is there a Wind shop near you you could pop into and check by having the drop a sim in? I'd really appreciate it. Thank you.
Hmmm. I'm a bit confused as my T-Mobile Note has many more bands than what is on the website... See attachment. I wondering if the *#2263# is actually accurate?

Hello,
I live in the US but purchased the Hong Kong model S21 Ultra, model SM-G9980. This model is using the Snapdragon chip set, and supports dual physical SIM. It supports LTE bands 2,4,12 yet it has not been aggregating any of the LTE bands in areas which I know a US model would.
As far as I'm aware, there is no access to a hidden network menu that will allow you to toggle carrier aggregation options.
I wanted to attempt installing the T-Mobile USA CSC, but Sammobile doesn't have any US model S21 Ultra firmware yet.
Does anyone know of a way I can enable carrier aggregation?
Update: I found the T-Mobile S21 Ultra firmware. Using a cracked version of ODIN I tried to install just the HOME_CSC for the T-Mobile variant. It immediately failed and now my phone won't even allow me into download mode again without showing "error while downloading."
I was able to bypass that and this time I filled in all the Taiwan G9980 but used the US XAA Home_CSC. This appeared to be working until the very end of the installation process when it finally said FAIL!
Update 2: I downloaded the Taiwan version of the firmware. Still not aggregating LTE. I also have a feeling 5G is not working because the phone won't aggregate the LTE anchor associated with N41 5G in my area. Really hoping to figure this out sooner than later!
Update 3: On a forum discussing the G9880 found HERE someone noted that 5G only worked in the "SIM 2" slot on that model. I switched my SIM to SIM2 and now the 5G icon is appearing, although I have checked *#0011# and noticed that it does not show any NR band connected, only Band 2 LTE. Note the photo below...

Samsung requires all binaries to match a signature for that specific firmware so you cannot flash US Home_CSC or other files on Taiwanese S21 even though it is Snapdragon.
So far only one person has figured out how to get CA and enable US bands on Asian Snapdragon model Galaxy series phone.
Their username is Mdyche82. Check their post here, sadly he lost the SSD before he could post a howto.
eSIM?
So, I've read in several places the US N20U has eSIM. I see the eSIM control app is in stalled. But that's all I see of it. Even an article here on XDA says all N20Us have eSIM except Japan, Korea and China. Can anyone confirm? And if so, how...

Hi @teedawgg! I work with website called cacombos.com where I have listed over 300 different devices and supported Carrier Aggregation combinations. I don't have any details from your device yet (you can contribute log to cacombos.com/contribute if you like) but I think your device doesn't have US CA combinations defined to modem firmware. Even switching firmware's doesn't change hardware combinations.
Seems second SIM slot activate 5G-support but it requires your device support 5G combinations (EN_DC) and I think HK model doesn't.
But please share QMDL log from your device to cacombos.com/contribute so then we know more what combinations your device modem support. I don't recommend buy device from other regions because this could be issue. Free to browse other devices on my site to learn more about Carrier Aggregation and Dual Connectivity supports.

Hello ! I am in Canada and I am still not convinced if I change my device for this one. But if i take one is will be the same model like you the SM-G9980. Because you can have it cheaper than directly than the company with a dual sim , another big advantage is the unlocked bootloader.
So I know that this model is directly without doing anything compatible with the carriers from the USA and Canada too for the 3G and 4G. I know that 5G is not yet compatible with. I know that the 5g bands in canada is n66 (1700) i don't know which one is for USA?
I'm curious if you have found something that works for unlocking bands network? And also if you can flash a firmware from another country? With your message it does not seem like it is possible? and what does it really bring more finally to use the SIM2? And honestly I don't care about 5G, not a lot of zones available, consuming a lot on the battery and more.. the 4G is still a lot faster.. I'm just curious about this.
Where you able to load a US firmware?

Hello guys,
I might be able to help you guys out. I had this same issue with my S21 ultra bought from samsung us store but was able to find a work around. Not sure If this would work for you guys but you might as well give it a try. You will need to download QPST, QXDM and have samsung and qualcomm drivers installed.
1. Make sure to have usb debugging on
2. Connect phone to usb and open dialer type *#0808# and select RMNET+DM+MODEM+ADPL(MDM) and leave it there
3. Open QPST and add new port. ( you should see the phone showing up in one of the COM ports ) add this port.
4. Launch EFS Explorer (Start Clients menu)
5. Select phone port that shows an ESN. ( the one added before ) it should take a moment to load
6. Navigate to / nv / Item_files / modem / lte / rrc / cap folder
7. Backup the "prune_ca_combos" file to our computer
8. Delete this file from the phone and reboot.
You should be getting LTE+ after reboot. Let me know if this helped you guys out. @moksjm @FearLesS007 @teedawgg @Max128

The SM-G9980 Hong Kong variant is a unique model. It's not possible to flash most firmware to this device, the only alternatives are CHC (China) and BRI (Taiwan). At this time regardless of the firmware you flash your device isn't capable of enabling CA or 5G services. If it were me I would flash the original CSC (TGY) as it much more user friendly than the Taiwan or China firmware.
