Hi All
I have Moto x 2013 ( XT1052 16GB Kitkat 4.4.4 from India) .. It working fine from the day i bought no issues
2 days back, when i woke up in the morning, it said Storage low when i check almost all of the available 11 GB was full,,
I tried deleting some apps, uninstall also failed,, so i reset the phone and restored all my apps from google play. I had close to 7 GB free
It was fine for 1 day,, but again today morning.. Same issue
I went into recovery and tried wiping cache/partition, it went on few minutes and automatically rebooted.. Still the memory was full
I have did a factory reset from recovery which was successful and again did a wipe cache/partition.. it again rebooted after some time (Shouldn't it stay in recovery after completion?)
Now i don't have any apps and i have 11GB free,, but not sure i will be getting this issue again if download my apps
Am travelling out of country tomorrow night for a month , i don't even have the time to go the service center
Please help

There is probably a rogue app causing the issue.
Could you please reproduce the issue and check the storage section in settings?
Post screenshot if possible

Wait for sometime for it to calculate.
You could use datasize Explorer from play store to analyze what is using your space

For about one year I use Sabmobile on my Note. Ir worked fine. Since two weeks I upgraded from 4.0.3 to 4.1.2. Since a few weeks some problems with Sabmobile occured. My Note won't get awake. I have to reboot by holding the on/off button for a longer time. The icon Sabmobile does not work. It becomes a standard Android icon and when I use it, I get the message "not installed".
I restored my phone a few time, but the problem stays.
Is this a known problem?
What is the solution?
try moving it to internal SD card if on external SD
uninstall and reinstall it from play store

I uninstalled en reinstalled it a few times. I even resetted my phone twice. I had to install all apps again.
It does not help so far.
Just read the overview of this app on playstore maybe you can find a fix there.. Or comments for the same device to know that it's happening with everyone or you are the only one

The problem is solved. The external SD card was defective.
I replaced it with a new one.
All is working fine now.
Hello i have found some guides that explain how to deal with this but i could not solve the problem
1st) I cant find 0byte files on my internal sd
2nd) there is no way that i factory reset the phone
3rd) the app that used to work like magic on 4.3 now wont work (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.addz.mediascannerroot)
4th) An app that i found in a post caused some problems (like phone locking up and having to reset the phone so i can unlock it)
I attached some photos of my battery drain so you can get an image of the problem
(it may not seem as a drain but when i used the "Rescan Media ROOT" app on 4.1.2 i used to get a MUCH greater battery life.
My phones status
UBT
Rooted
Running on 4.4.2 Aopk Rom
Doomkernel v04
Thank you and i am sorry for my endless questions i try to contribute to the forum as much as i can.

if you dont wanna try another rom wipe cache and dalvik cache
I have tried 2 roms existenz and aopk kitkat same problem i formated the internal card yesterday in case this did not work I'll have to format my external.

All day long.I use poweramp but i think the principal is the same.
Also i found out that the total wipe of my internal SD i did earlier did not help at all.
But using BetterBatteryStats i found that:
AudioMix has been running for 2 hours and 3 minutes in total. (partial wakelock)
PowerManagerService.Wakelocks has been running for 2 hours total (kernel wakelock)
Whats all this stuff ?Are these 2 system related ? and last but not least can i stop them from running ?
Well playing music drains the battery pretty quick. This is also due to mediaservice.. We cant do a thing about it.

Turn off all syncing activities and also use odexed roms because the deodexed roms have this issues usually, random battery drain amd such. Kernel might also be the problem so you can try that.
For us to better solve your issue, please download better battery stats here and send screenshots of 1hour of battery usage: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809

No one explained this so far, this is common in all the android 5.1 rom for android one worldwide, normally in smartphones everyone keeps the data on all the time, whenever u turn on the data will see that the exclamation icons r gone, this implies that our android one phones want the data to be on all the time so when the data is off it tells u to turn on the data.
Check my attachment in both the data on as well as off condition...

Do one thing,i have seen that ur using aircel, try data from aircel, and change the apn while data turned on.
Maybe Synchronization issue?
Perform a fresh restore process by wiping cache, dalvik cache, user media, boot, system, data.
Go to custom restore an select only boot and system and then restore the backup....
See if its working or not.....
Otherwise there is a flashable zip of android 5.1,link is below.Dont know whether its indian or Philippines, ask the op of that thread...

Charge your phone till 100% calibrate it by battery calibration app from play store and wipe battery stats by CWM recovery. Reducing battery drinking activities like playing games, youtubing etc for some days can extend your battery life and also keep in mind that battery will drop faster from 100% to around 89% but below 89% it will behave fine.

The exclamation mark appears when you are not properly connected to the internet. If you are having a proper connection, meaning if your google apps can communicate with the google servers, then the exclamation mark goes away.

Hello everyone,
I have the strangest problem: every now and then after a reboot my phone displays the first time wizard and my phone is empy !
All apps, datas, etc... are gone like it's the first time I turned on my phone. The weird thing is that when I check into storage I can see that 25Gb are occupied (my datas).
Does anyone now how I can get my data back ?

It occurs when the rom has not been properly installed, wipe everything and install your rom freshly, it will resolve the problem.
However there are some bugs in 7.1.1 custom roms, when you update or backup your datas, you will lose some of your apps without data.

Ok, I'm back to stock for now, I'll wait a little to try again LOS.
Anyway thanks for the help !
TL : DR - My phone won't boot because of low disk space, how can I free up memory?
Greetings,
Project FI purchased Moto X4 running BONE STOCK and absolutely ZERO CUSTOMIZATION. If I can get access to my pics taken via the camera I'm ok with wiping the phone and starting over. Screenshots folder access would be cool too but not life necessary... Wait there has to be a way to make a dump of all this data somehow, somewhere right?
Last night I was on 15% or less battery life and less than 100mb's of disk space left. (i know, i know, i'm a dummy head)
I heard about PLEX running no problem on mobile Browser and decided to test it out and sure enough it worked fine. Was test streaming a few movies out when my PHONE DIED. I thought, oh man, thats probably not the best since it died and it was low on space but yeah I threw it on the charger and went to bed....
This morning, I confirmed it was charged 100% but when I turn it on, the phone will not boot past the AndroidOne screen. Left it there for 40mins and no change, AndroidOne displays and the rainbow colored bars at bottom are frozen(don't scroll) and screen flashes off/on every 30 secs to that same AndroidOne screen.
However I can boot into Bootloader with no issues, and into Recovery mode as well, but there is not a WIPE CACHE option on this device... Obviously the Wipe data/factory reset option is there...
BUT BEFORE WE GET TO THAT POINT, WHaT GIVES? Anyone have any ideas?
few ?'s
#1 - In the Bootloader menu, What is this RESTART BOOTLOADER option for, what does it do?
#2 - Is there any way I can free up some space from Bootloader/Recovery as I'm pretty sure thats the cause of this problem I'm having. I was intending to do that today actually, was going to dump all my pics from the phone to a computer. ..
#3 - Is there any way I can see if my pic's backed up somewhere? New to the Google ecosystem...
#4 - Is there any way I can read or access the phones data via a computer, then perhaps I can delete a few pics to free up memory or better yet, wipe app caches to clear up memory instantly? PERHAPS even command line ????
Any and all other inputs and suggestions greatly appreciated before I take that step of wiping the device(which assumes I can start over with a working phone by doing that but not a guarantee).
Please ADVISE
much appreciated!

Go to photos.google.com with the account you signed into your phone to see if they were backed-up.

Thanks for the reply, so Google says I have backup turned off but my photos are in the timeline.. SO I just manually downloaded them all as a backup/pre-caution.
any other suggestions before I attempt the WIPE data/factory reset option from Bootloader > Recovery?
I can boot up fine into Bootloader and Recovery.
I can access the logs via . Bootloader > Recovery > View Recovery Logs
last line states the following: I:[libfs_mgr]fs_mgr_read_fstab_dt(): failed to read fstab from dt
please advise,

the internet failed, I found nothing on this issue and since I got 90% of my photos recovered via Google photos..
long story short, from Bootloader/Recovery I did the WIPE data/factory reset and i'm good to go now.
even updated my phone to all the latest android and moto updates, feels and seems like a totally new phone.. at a cost of 15gbs!! 15/32gbs used jus for the AndroidONE o/s, am I missing something?

Not missing anything the OS takes up a lot of space. I am using a Pie ROM right now and system takes up 12GB.
