[Q] Cannot update Xperia Z1 to Android 5.0 Lollipop - Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I cannot update my Xperia Z1 (C6902) from Andoid 4.4.2 to Android 5.0. The update was available for me since day before yesterday. I have downloaded the OTA 3 times. When I try to install it, the phone restarts and I can see the Android logo and a loading bar. However, after 15 seconds or so, the installation fails and the mobile phone restarts to the Android 4.4.2. On restarts, it says that the update failed and please download again. I also tried updating my phone via PC (I am using Windows 7 64-bit) using Sony Companion. Still, no luck. Sony companion detects the phone, tells me that there is an update available. I selected the option to update my phone. It asked me to disconnect the phone. I dissconnected the phone. It connects to the Internet and downloads something, probably Sony Update Engine. However, if I remember correctly, when it downloads the update package, it shows the size and time remaining. It did not show the time or the size. That means that it did not download the update package. After downloading the Sony Update Engine, it says that it is preparing my PC for the update (there is no more download going on). After preparing the PC, the Update Application is terminated. How do I solve this problem?

[Q] Firmware Update Failed!

Hello Guys,
I had rooted my SGN before & restored to stock ROM DXKL2. However whenever i tried to update the firware from Software Update, it always says "Failed to update firmware. Try again using PC software (Kies) or Visit Samsung Service Center".
The update download & installation seemed to run well accordingly, but after reboot with "Uploading Media Files" display, the screen simply goes off half way for reboot again, and once SIM PIN gets input, the above display shows up.
May i know how is this happening? Thanks in advance.

What was the Firmware version when you bought the Phone?? If it is different than KL2, Try restoring firmware which was ter when u bought it. Then Update via Phone or Kies.
Thanks for the tips, Mr Ranjan.Alva. It really worked when i flashed it back to its out of the box stock ROM DXKJ3 Gingerbread 2.3.5.
It could simply download, install & reboot perfectly to latest ROM DXLA1 now

[Q] Xperia X1 - Stock ROM

I have an Xperia X1a, which is locked to Rogers.
I've tried several times to update it from the R2A ROM up to R3A through the official Sony update software, but it refuses to detect my phone. I've gone through all kinds of troubleshooting to get it to work accross multiple PCs with no success.
I've given up on the official method and decided to download the stock R3A firmware and flash it manually. However, links to the firmware images are all dead.
Would anyone out there happen to have a copy of the Rogers R3A firmware, or the generic North American R3A firmware?
While I'm at it, does anyone also have the Windows Live panel? Something else that has disappeared from the Internet.
I downloaded and installed the latest Update Service from Sony's website, installed it, etc.
The update manager won't go past the screen asking me to put remove my battery, hold down the power and volume down buttons, than connect my phone to my PC.
The Xperia X1 starts in the colored stripe-mode, but the update manager simply won't detect that it's been connected. Windows detects the Xperia and installs the "Microsoft USB Sync" driver without a hitch. The Xperia is using the stock 0.72 spl.
I've gone through countless hours of troubleshooting, both online and by contacting Sony directly (I even brought my phone and laptop in to the local Sony store and they just can't get it to work).
I've given up on the update manager, which is why I want the stock R3A .nbh file to bypass the need for Sony's buggy updater.

you have to download sony update service from Sony site, then choose your mobile model and it will be updated to latest firmware.
Thats only notification. When you "click" it will say that you have to make this via PC Companion.
So download PC Companion from SONY site and do an update, or... Just connect your phone to computer and choose PC Companion. Software will be installed on your comp.

If you want to customise the Rom ie with honami. Apps and framework , strip it out of bloatware , make it run faster,
Thend flash 2.254 FW, root it, flash fem and then a custom Rom.
Otherwise just go through the official download with Sony.

Sony Xperia Z Bootloop At Optimizing App.. Android Is Starting

Haven't had any similar issue so far in two years. Just restarted today as I always do every other week to get into this mess. No new apps installed/updated within the past three days. Last thing I was doing was USB Tethering. No custom ROMs, running on the latest official updates, i.e. Android 5.1.1
What I have already tried is vol up&power, then vol down&power button, which did turn the phone off, but when turned on again, same thing started, and I can't get the Companion recognize it to be able to do a wipe/repair either.
Flash stock rom via flashtool
That's what I wanted to avoid.. Anyway not to lose the data? Also, where can I find version 0.9.13? I'm asking because there's this under the official Flashtool thread:
WARNING : Since Xperia Z, sony added a new set of files I called bootbundle. Those files can be bundled from 0.9.13 and can be flashed from 0.9.13 only. To all those flashing devices from Z edition to all after Z, it is highly advised to use 0.9.13 and to be sure FTF you flash contain the bootbundle set. I've been reported of hard bricks because of missing such set of files from bundles.

Software interrupted Note 5 SM-N920A

I am running Android 7.0. I noticed that there has not been a security patch since 2017. I check for software update and there is one available that's almost half of a gig. I go through the steps to update. During restart, the progress indicator stops at 35% and phone starts up with the message that the update failed as it was interrupted. I have tried several times with same result even after factory reset. Also tried in Safe mode. Also connected to PC and SmartSwitch and says software is up to date. Phone works fine but it should be able to take the update. Any help would be appreciated. Considered a root but apparently AT&T version can't be rooted.
