[Q] root "doesn't" work - Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Some days ago I installed a signed-flashable-prerooted zip to upgrade to Lollipop (14.5.A.0.242). I completely followed the steps, I wiped the cache, the Dalvik/ART cache and data. All went fine during the installation and so on.
Afterwards I installed Titanium Backup to remove the bloatware, but instead of completely removing the selected apps they seem to be unaffected, but when clicked on them they started and closed in a matter of seconds. The ES File Explorer doesn't seem to properly as well. For example, I can't delete the bootanimation.zip to replace it with my own.
Might there be any fix to it?

Don't think it'll work on our device. And if it did work for the fascinate you would prolly need to be on a touch wiz rom as well.

What Chopper said could be true. At any rate try this:
Long press on your file
Hit extract
Go to the extracted folder
Long press on your extracted file
Hit move or copy
Navigate to system /app folder
Hit the system rw if necessary
Paste the file
Re boot
tsm res1.2, TKSGB 11-14, lag fix

I have a different app but same problem. I have ES File Explorer I can copy the file but when I get to system/app I have not been able to figure out how to paste the file. Anyplace I do the long press in system/app there is an app that it thinks I'm wanting to do something with and I don't get the paste option. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Okay so I figured out how to paste it and it wasn't allowed. No I can't find the apk at all. I have even cleared cache and tried to re-download and I get the Ballero-2.apk actually I am up to Ballero-5.apk and can find none of those either.
un-rooted, microSD card, Go Launcher, ES File Explorer, HomeCatcher
Thanks again for your help.

Es file explorer is not as consistent when it comes to giving you root access, which is what you need to paste in system, app. Imo, root explorer is a must.
Edit; although I read that you can obtain that permission somewhere in the es file explorer settings

safestrap problems

Having a problem with safestrap. I am on stock 4.1.2 on my bionic. I am rooted and trying to put safestrap on the phone. When I go to es file explorer and try to install, it doesn't give me that option. when I click on the safestrap icon it just opens it and shows whats in it. Any help would be appreciated.

Try androzip, root explorer. Make sure the safestrap is an apk file otherwise u will neex to extract it
I had this problem as well. When I downloaded the file, it automatically put a .zip extension on the file. Try selecting "all files" and typing .apk after the file name.
I reccomend getting a dropbox. Put all your APKs on there in a folder, and just install from there. I use it all the time and its the first app i install when getting a new phone or restoring to stock, etc.

TWRP recovery copy issue

Friends....I have two TWRP backup on my HTC ONE. I want to transfer them on my PC so hat i can save 4 GB of disk space but for some reason i cannot copy the main file which is around 1.5 gb and is named 'system.ext4.win'. I tried copy/cut both but of no use. When i copy and paste in same location it gives error that cannot copy 'system.ext4.win'. Plz help :crying::crying:. Just for added info I can copy all other things like Titanium backup
Older versions of TWRP incorrectly set the permissions. Use root explorer or ES File Explorer to set the permissions properly.

[Q] MTP Application 1.0 APK

Hey guys! So I successfully managed to root my Galaxy S Advance running stock 4.1.2 Jellybean (Italian firmware I9070XXLQL) and installed SuperSU and TitaniumBackup. I was uninstalling unnecessary bloatware using a couple of lists made by other forum members. One of the apps I deleted was called MTP Application 1.0 (I think?) because it is only required for connecting to a computer via Kies and I don't use that anymore (Android File Transfer all the way!) But now my phone does not get recognised by AFT at all. Unfortunately I'm a klutz and forgot to make a backup of the application before deleting so now it cannot be recovered. Can someone possibly provide me with the APK? It is a system application and I have granted root access to ES File Explorer. Just need the application itself. Thanks!
Edit: I've already searched online and can't find the APK anywhere on the Internet.
Here you go. I attached the file. I use xxlql deodexed and pulled this from the preload partition. I think you must put this apk in the app folder on preload partition and give it permissions. Good Luck.

Hey thanks! I downloaded the APK, moved it to the appropriate folder and changed the permissions. Now my phone is getting recognised by AFT. Thanks once again for the speedy response!

Hi. Can you give instructions on how to install the APK? Like which folder to put it in and how to give permission?
Thanks so much!

You must be rooted. Once you are done rooting your device you must install root explorer or es file explorer. Then grant root permissions to that app. Now move the apk file to preload/app folder in root of the device. Then choose properties of the apk file and set permissions. You can youtube the procedure. Good luck.
