Does anyone know where I can download 4.4.4 KitKat for my SM-G900A? I upgraded to Lollipop and I'm not very fond of it. All I can find is 4.4.2 Firmware downloads. Link me to the site or thread. AT&T just stopped releasing firmware after 4.4.2 i guess.

If you upgraded to L using official OTA, then you are stuck with L. No way to downgrade to KitKat. Also no Root for now.

4.4.4 is very broken, that said, you can't downgrade to either of them(4.4.4 or 4.4.2), i think its possible might be possible if you upgraded using flashfire, but im not 100% certain, and if i remember correctly the posts i saw about it said to only do so to recover a backup to 5.0

I upgraded with FlashFire using the rooted Lollipop firmware from another thread. I did a backup but it got lost during the upgrade. It's been so buggy, I have reset it many times in the last week but the same bugs keep popping up. I think if someone uploaded their backup from flashfire with system, boot, (everything except data and cache pretty much) that would be usable.

I would suggest reading and following this post as well. I suggest then either looking for muniz_ri's 4.4.4 root thread if you must have 4.4.4 but I'd say 4.4.2 would be better to wait on. What are the bugs you're experiencing? Some may be caused by things you restored in Titanium Backup

There were just a lot of app incompatabilities, some minor system bugs like lag every now and then.
I tried muniz_ri's 4.4.2 But Google play won't download any apps or update them. I did an OTA update which fixed all the problems without going to 4.4.4. I am going to just stay on 4.4.2 for awhile. Thanks guys!!!!

Glad to hear you got it working. I was on rooted 4.4.2/NG3 for the longest time. Very stable and fast. 4.4.4 was horrible! I have been on rooted L for a while and it very stable fast and smooth. I miss all the Xposed stuff tho!

I think i will go back to Lollipop later on, maybe the next update or when stuff like Xposed catches up with it.

So I had Jelly Bean on my N7 from factory. I decided to root it, and I used the toolkit to root it.
It reverted it to 4.1 and deleted everything (basically a stock flash) which was irritating, but I got it all set back up.
Just got a pop up to update it to 4.2.
What should I do?
If 4.1 is better, how do I make the pop up to update go away.
If 4.2 is better, will I maintain root through the update? If no, how can I, or reroot.
If 4.1 is better is kind of personal choice, most like the 4.2 update, some hate.
Technically it's better because it comes with new features but it also nixes a few like tablet UI and some of the new functions are still a bit buggy (esp. multiuser related things).
Not sure you can get rid of the update dialog permanentely.
If you just let the update go it's course you'll loose root - but that's not a problem, as you can simply re-root after the update.

HI all, this thread answered most of the questions i had but one,
when i unlocked/rooted 4.1 i installed twrp then updated twrp with goomanager app ....now seeing as im on the newest twrp recovery i wont have any bootloops or anything when i click up update right?
anyone?
bump*
Bootloops have nothing to do with the recovery, they are usually caused by incompatible system data from a different ROM.
Since you'll be updating the "same ROM" to a newer version (stock 4.1.x to 4.2, if I go you right) everything should be fine.

This is what I know. Correct me if I'm wrong.
The N7 gets a reset when you unlock the bootloader, not by rooting (flashing su.zip) or flashing a custom recovery.. This is supposed to be a "security feature" by Google.
The S3 comes with an already open bootloader. Furthermore other vendors might not have included this "security feature" in their phones/tablets.
I did the OTA update to 4.2 and did not lose root. Prior to update I was on stock 4.1 with Trinity kernel and rooted using nexus toolkit and CWMR. Only thing I had to do was flash back to stock 4.1 kernel as the OTA failed with Trinity, then using CWMR installed the update that was sat in the cache. At the end of flashing the update CWMR warned me that the ROM I was installing wanted to use its own recovery, click no to keep CWMR, then it warned that root may be lost, click yes to keep root.
No other apps needed and I'm now on stock 4.2 with root access. Only thing in have lost is my tablet interface from build prop tweaks. Once I find a way round that happy days!

Yes you can root the N900A. I recommend using Kingo.
You are correct in that once you go 4.4.2, you can't go back to 4.3. There may or may not be issues with kit kat builds. You have to do the research yourself and see. What might be an issue for me, might not be for you. Look here for available roms. Read the instructions for each rom COMPLETELY!! Read the posts for any bugs that might pertain, or that have been fixed.

I've been on 4.4.2 for about a week. So far no major issue's. 2 days after I loaded kitkat my contacts app forced closed but it didn't happen again and 1 reboot. I use it as my daily driver and haven't had any issue's but the couple I just mentioned. It's a pretty solid build. Can't wait for the official release. ?

hello everyone! today I just got my Note 3 N900a. with 4.4.2 KK today.I would like to root but I don't really know where to start as I don't want to brick this device. my G Pro is rooted and custom flashed but this is my first time dealing with Knox. so I have a few questions before I dive in:
1. Will Kingo root my Note 3 and not trip knox or UVDLV work better?..what about CF-Autoroot?.I heard sammy caught on so it might not work..but I saw that it will work but still trip knox? i'm rather confused here.. My AP is N900AUCUCNC2.
2. IF I DO GET ROOT PRIVILEGES. I know that I can't flash a custom recovery and there is an ongoing bounty to unlock the bootloader. So is it safe to use safetrap and will it affect knox? Or will safestrap remove my Recovery? (On my old S4 I did the mistake of Goomanagering a recovery and wiped my stock recovery but It still worked fine haha..just couldn't update or it would go into ODIN loop..which I could get out of) I will probably want to flash a custom de-bloated KK TW ROM if I do get the chance. I used safestrap on my old Razr M but is it different now? I sound like a total idiot right now but before the Note 3 I pretty much am a confident android power user but what scares me is that while I was using my G Pro, my friend from work had a Note 3 and he bricked it and now he's stuck using his Note 2. I don't want to make a critical mistake. If a more experienced user could guide me and show me what my options are or what I have to work with I would love you forever! XD

well this is a turn of events..my wife's white note 3 was 4.3 and the black one is 4.4.2. She knows that i'm a frequent rooter and that she was also debating getting the black one at the store. Plus she liked the B&W statusbar colors. So instead so I took her white one. She has the non-rootable 4.4.2 phone (she's not that much of a power user)...so now I have 4.3 to use...is THIS exploitable? my N900a Note 3's AP ends in MJ5.

cool, I remember I had to do that on my S3 when I used EZ-Unlocker. Now in regards to this ROM (which is the one i'm looking at)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2714601
It requires 4.4.2 and rooted. I'm on 4.3 and rooted. If 4.4.2 is unrootable right now..how would I do it?..how would I go from 4.3 rooted to 4.4.3 and not be tied down?
I know the leaked non-official KK doesn't lock you down to KK and the AT&T version permanently does.

You should have installed this using custom Recovery.
Just flash this

it should give you KK back that too with root.
see this is why I suggest people not to rush for lollipop, it's full of bugs at this moment. that's why it's not coming to Android One devices.

Dude... I've seen you on many posts telling people not to root or unlock bootloader... or not to flash stuff etc etc... Why would you come to xda if you dont want any of that? use your phone normally and wait for OTAs if you are so scared... yes flashing things like a moron will lead to soft bricks and bootloops. but those are basics of debugging any device... if one doesnt know how to recover from a soft brick then he/she shouldn't flash things to their device. Yes nowadays playing (and messing) with our devices is really easy, so noobs tend to make mistakes... I have too in the past. But if you stay scared then you dont belong on XDA

As for your problem, if you have root on 5.1 right now... go to playstore and download TWRP manager... (this is because TWRP is more stable, and supports all ROMs from 4.4.4 to 5.1, unlike philz touch or CWM) otherwise you can manually download the .img file and flash it via cmd prompt on PC. (If you dont know how to do that just let me know... I'll guide you through the process)
then download the flashable zip of your choice (I suggest official CyanogenMod11 ... I use it as my daily driver and confirm that it is stable with everything working)
Here is the link
http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=sprout
additionally you need to download GAPPS from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2397942
Copy the two downloaded files to your external sd card (remember the path)
then boot into recovery and flash (install) them... then reboot to system and voila!! you are back on 4.4.4 !!
PS. I advise against going back to stock 4.4.4 because there are some added precautions you must take, otherwise you risk losing your imei , and wont be able to make calls/sms/mobile internet. Switching to CM is much safer and easier... plus gauranteed official (and faster than google) updates thanks to our beloved dev Varun Chitre

Download the factory image of 4.4.4 and place it in ADB folder ( if u have not setup adb, search in Google ), now take a backup of your current os via recovery ( just in case ), next wipe cache partition, factory reset. Now connect to PC, flash the factory image through ADB. [emoji2]

Easiest way to downgrade is to flash cwm backup of kitkat stock rom via custom recovery. If you had made clockworkmod backup of your rom before upgrading then just restore it from recovery after wiping data, system, boot and cache partition, there is no need for pc and Sp flash tool. If you have no backup then try to look for it on xda,and flash, it works without any issue.

No. CyanogenMod is a different organisation altogether. They have those Jenkins(server) which builds for officially supported devices daily and uploads them (which will be downloaded later by the users as OTA)

Well... Google doesn't make cyanogenmod ... And official support for CM11 is dropped.... Use CM12, or the last CM11 NIGHTLY... Or choose an AOSP based Rom
Can someone help me? I have a nexus 5 running marshmallow and want to get back to kick at 4.4.4......any advice.....I already have twrp recovery installed...and it is a rooted device.
Thanks

You should have installed this using custom Recovery.
Just flash this

it should give you KK back that too with root.

is this working for galaxy e5 sm-e500h????
Nope, this is only for Android One devices.
Rumors, facts, plans whatever discuss it here.
Do you think we could see a Android 5.1 update? I really would hope so for as slowly as they've been rolling it out, or what do you think the possibilities of (after LP Update is released) seeing a 5.1 rom is?
5.1 looks a lot better to me than 5.0.1/5.0.2 minor small improvements and what not.
This phone will never see lollipop as long as it exists
As long as this phone exists? Or as long as lollipop exists?

I thought they were gunna release an official lp (5.0.1) later this year for it.
I spoke with Samsung last night (chat) and they said it's coming but there is still no date.
Samsung Note 4 lollipop was released.

Got to reflash the official odin firmware latest probably then don't root just check for updates and take it.
Also yes after getting lollipop you can just reroot with towelroot and debloat your rom.

Negative ghost rider, towelroot doesn't work on anything passed 4.4.2. It doesn't even work on any flavor of 4.4.4, such as NL1. The only way to root from stock LP is to downgrade via Odin to a firmware supported by TR (4.4.2) and root from there, install safe strap, blah, blah, and flash a pre-rooted LP ROM, then reflash the LP kernel, modem, etc.

Odd it worked for my rom in my sig and it's 4.4.4 based, what about framaroot then I wonder?
Ohh well if what ya say is true we should be seeing the LP rom's coming soon in the next week.
Is there an external download source for the Lollipop ROM to install via ODIN yet? I'm on X Note and just want to wipe and flash through odin rather than flash to stock, downgrade and OTA etc....
