Install Update - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
the main reason why I started this thread is because I'm overwhelmed by all the information.
My problem:
I've rooted my HTC One M7 a couple of month ago, now I want to install an update to the latest version of android.
I don't know where to start, so help me pls.
If you recommend a custom ROM which improves the battery runtime I will use this ROM.
Android-Version:
4.4.3
HTC Sense
6.0
Software-Nbr
6.09.401.10
HTC SDK API Level
6.25

You could simply backup all your important files, relock your bootloader and flash the latest RUU (7.19.401.11).
You only need to relock the bootloader if your phone is s-on btw.

S-On Firmware

Hi all,
I just got a question I want to clear up regarding firmware on my phone, it came with 4.2.2 and HBOOT 1.54 so am aware that it cannot S-OFF currently, I have unlocked the bootloader via HTC dev, installed custom recovery TWRP, rooted and installed ARHD.
Everything is running fine so no problems there, I've read that ROMs do not flash firmware and with my phone currently being S-On still it's not even possible unless its an official signed update. If I remember correctly my firmware was originally 2.17.401.1.
After flashing ARHD 20.1 in settings my Build number is showing up as 3.09.401.1 CL235216 release-keys.
This is what i'm a little confused about, is the Baseband version or Build number that indicates the firmware?

Bootloader shows your firmware version, which is 2.24. The info on your phone in the Settings, About section shows your rom build information, so you are on a Sense 4.3 rom (build 3.09). You're all good sir, given that you are S-on, no worries.
Cool, Thank you.

Can somebody please tell me how to root a htc one international with the model number 001. When i updated the phone to 4.3 my root was wiped and i tried a custom recovery such as clockwork mod recovery but it failed to root and I can't find a post that explains how to root a htc one running 4.3. Does anybody mind telling me how to do it or linking me to a tutorial?

[Q] Stock Recovery for CID: SPCS_004

Hello, I have been searching for about 2 months trying to fix my issue and I have finally decided to give in and seek some assistance from this wonderful site.
Current Setup: HTC One m8 Harman Kardon, S-On, Unlocked Bootloader, CM11, TWRP 2.7.0.2 (Sprint)
End Game: S-Off, Running GPE Lollipop.
I believe I need to return my phone to stock in order to use Sunshine to S-Off and update my firmware so that GPE Radios will work. I have installed the stock Sense 6 ROM 4.4.4 (Wireless not working) but now am trying to install an OTA software update. (Currently on 3.30.654.2) From what I understand I need to install the stock HTC Recovery, however My CID is SPCS_004 and I can not find a recovery for that. Also, what is the process that I should follow when flashing stock recovery, Do I flash recovery and then install the OTA? Will I need to lock my bootloader? I am so turned around in this process that I don't really know what Direction to go in, any help is greatly appreciated.
tl;dr: I need a stock recovery for HTC One m8 Harman Kardon (CID SPCS_004) and can't find it anywhere.
I have finally figured it out!
For others having this issue that may stumble upon similar issues. I focused on returning my phone to stock.
Flash stock HTC Sense 6 4.4.4
Flashed stock recovery 4.16.401.10
I then locked my bootloader
Ran RUU 4.20.654.10
HTC then accepted and Ran the OTA
I am now on Sense 6 running 5.0.1 with stock recovery and a locked bootloader.
I will be making a back up (saving it to my google drive to avoid this issue in the future) and flashing GPE.
This can be closed if need be.

[Q] Firmware update & S-OFF

Hi everyone, I currently have an HTC One M7 running Android 4.4.3 on ViperOne 7. H-BOOT is 1.54 and phone is S-OFF. I have a couple of questions regarding firmware update and latest Android versions:
1) Is there an official update from HTC to Marshmallow? I was thinking of unrooting the device and updating to Marshmallow if that is the case. From what I've read the Marshmallow ROMs on xda are not very stable. What's the latest official update for unlocked M7? On the HTC website (http://www.htc.com/us/go/htc-software-updates/#device-content) it says it's Marshmallow.
2) Can I get S-OFF and update my firmware using a Mac? I could not find a guide specifically for this. I think I am currently on 2.24.401.1.
Thanks!

The latest official version is Android Lollipop 5.0.2 with HTC Sense 6
If your phone is already S-OFF then it will stay S-OFF forever, unless you turn it back S-ON manually using the appropriate fastboot command. Upadting the firmware on a mac isn't a problem but flashing the latest RUU (if you want to update firmware and software) will requires a Windows PC since it must be done using htc_fastboot.exe (not the regular fastboot) which is, afaik, only available in .exe for Windows.

How to Upgrade HTC ONE M7 SENSE 6 (Un-rooted, SuperCID) to Lollipop?

Hey! guys, I think I may need your help because I'm a little bit confused and I don't want to take any step further, that's why I'm asking here to insure that nothing goes wrong.
so recently, I've bought an HTC One M7 from a user that has used it for only one month, I've checked the device for any root operations made to the device with Root Check App from Google Play, but I didn't find any, means it's un-rooted.
this is the software information of the device:
Android Version: 4.4.3
HTC Sense Version: 6.0
Software Number: 6.09.401.5
HTC SDK API Level: 6.25
basic information when I'm in the boot Menu (by Holding both Volume & and Power Buttons):
-Locked
-S-OFF
-CID: 1111111 [I guess it's commonly known as SuperCID (whatever that means)]
here's my problem: I've had headaches for 2 days searching and digging about how to Upgrade my HTC M7 to Lollipop, since I heared that it has released Officially for M7.
The OTA update isn't providing me any of any Software Update messages but this:
Software Update: 6.09.401.10 (197.42 MB).

I downloaded it and Installed it via OTA, but during the installation (when the device is on shutdown mode) there seem to be a loading cycle (similar to the sync icon) loading a progress bar, and suddenly! at the middle of the progression a Red Triangle appears, Indicating that the Update proccess is aported for some reason.
and there's no way I could make sure what to do, please, help me because I'm getting confused.

Your OS isn't 100% stock, thats why you are getting the error message saying that the update aborted. Updates can't be installed if the OS (/system partition) was modified. Your phone is S-OFF so someone did unlocked and tampered with it at some point and did not restored it back to stock properly.
At least it will be easy to fix. All you'll need is to flash the latest RUU for your phone which will bring it back to stock and update it at the same time. The version you need is 7.19.401.51. File and instructions in this thread (read post 1, 7.19.401.51 file at post #2)

Hey @alray ! thank you very much! atleast I know where to begin now.
I'm downloading now the RUU: 7.19.401.51 decrypted (s-off only) you've mentioned from the Post #2 of the Thread you gave me; there are two links actually with the same build number: one that is (s-off only), and the other is (signed). so, I've downloaded (s-off only).
since I'm a newbie to flashing, how to flash this RUU to my device properly?
-- Thanks Again.

The signed version would be better since it's the official one.
