I copied Noto Sinhala font (noto-sans-sinhala) to my rooted HTC one with Lollipop (Stock Rom) , it works as soon as i copied the files but when i reboot the phone (simply switch of and on) changes disappear from /system/fonts folder. By changes i meant the copied files.
Please let me know if you have any suggestion.
I'm just a newbie on the android stuff.
Boot loader unlocked using HTC Dev guide
Rooted with SuperSu using CWM touch (recovery-clockwork-touch-6.0.4.6-m7ul.img)
Fonts copied using root browser app
Related
I've installed the Superuser app and can access /system/fonts. With my old Vibrant, I could copy DroidSans.ttf, Clockopia.ttf and DroidSans-Bold.ttf from another font like Comforta to /system/fonts and that would work.
If I try to copy those same files to the Nexus S's system/fonts the phone gets stuck in the Nexus boot animation and I have restore my nandroid backup to get the phone to boot up.
Has anyone been able to change the font on their phone?
I changed the font using the app font installer...

Just make a flashable zip and flash it through recovery
I flashed a zip in recovery and that worked fine. I'm not sure why I couldn't copy the *.ttf files like before on my Vibrant but it works via recovery.
ok i have a problem i installed the custom boot android bios and i want a new one but it wont flash the new one i downloaded i tried manually installing but didnt work but i noticed the directories where different one was data/local while the new one was system/media can anyone tell me how to remove my old one ty in advanced
i copied the new "bootanimation.zip" to both directories. In data/local, i had to delete the original "bootanimation.zip". in system/media, i just copied my "bootanimation.zip"
I got the instructions from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=696193
I didn't use ADB though. I mounted my phone to my comp, copied the files, then used root explorer.
i was using this rom perfectly, till i tried to change the font.
i read on the web, saying that what you need to do is to change DroidSans.ttf DroidSans-Bold.ttf DroidSansFallback.ttf ( i am a chinese user) these three fonts and their permission, and reboot, everything will be done. but when i do that, my phone stuck on the HTC ONE logo screen. so i had to recover it.i took a close look at the /system/fonts, and i realize DFHEIA7A.ttf DFHEIA5A.ttf and DroidSansFallback.ttf are all chinese fonts file. so, at this point i am not sure what should i do. Anyone ever tried to change fonts with this rom?share ur experience plzz

Hello guys,
I tried to port different ROMs to my beloved s plus but none of them booted.
I can install them successfully but when I reboot system it stuck at the boot animation and then doesn't boot.....
What's the problem.
Here is the procedure I'm using to port ROM:
Copy any other file or folder present in the root of the ROM except system,META-INF, and boot.img from port to base
Delete :
Apps
Framework
Fonts
Media
Priv-app folders from base ROM and then copy:
Apps
Framework
Fonts
Media
Priv-apps from port to base ROM.
I go to ../Base ROM/system/etc/permissions/ and delete all files except handled_******** and platform then copy all other files except handled_******** and platform from ../Port ROM/system/etc/permissions to base's permissions folder.
I go to /Base ROM/system/etc/init.d and delete all files except 00banner or 99banner don't know for sure the name of the banner file.
Change the name of the ROM in build.prop with notepad++.
Make archive of the ROM (.zip)
Copy the ROM in the internal storage of s plus.
And then flash it on to my s plus.
I tried to port 4.4.4 and 4.4.2 ROMs from s2 and s4 but without success
I'm using TWRP 2.7.1.0 .
Is there anything I'm forgetting to do?

This is exactly what i did before the stuck came.
Rooted my Phone using Towelroot
Installed SuperSU and RootChecker
No Custom Rom whatsoever
I was looking for a way to edit the Dock background for the icons where the app drawer is then found that it is called "home_stage_bg.png" looked for it using ES file explorer then found it in /system/ui/app/Home.apk I then coppied the Home.apk then placed it in SD Card incase something happens  then I downloaded a transparent version of the home_stage_bg.png and also downloaded the Apk Editor on Google Playstore opened it and chose Select an Apk file i chose the Home.apk from the SD Card then replaced the stock home_stage_bg.png with the tranparent one then Clicked save. Went to the folder of Apk Editor where the edited Home.apk was then replaced the Home.apk in /system/app/ then suddenly it went black and rebooted then stuck on Android is Upgrading Starting Applications. Any solution for this?
Thanks XDA.
You can fix this by installing a new launcher.
Use Aroma File Manager to move your Home backup back to system/app. Remember to mount system in recovery before entering aroma file manager.
Done.

If you know how to use ADB (or you can use the Aroma File Manager as suggested above), you can copy another launcher, or the same (original) launcher, to the /system/app folder. Make sure permissions are correct (owner/group = root, permissions = 0644, or rw-r-r--), then reboot. Most likely, the only reason it's not starting up is because you ruined the launcher and there is nothing to start up to.
I don't know if that method of editing an APK is correct, and if you try to replace an APK that is currently being used, such as the "home.apk" or "framework-res.apk" you'll get an automatic reboot.
Safest is to do it on a computer using 7zip.
