Hi!
I just update to lollipop 23.1.A.0.726 using pc suite, now i want to have root access but i can get in to recovery, the led indicator never turns on, the phone works with no problems so the led indicator, what should i do?
cheers!
Recovery mode/Hard reset option
I have same problem. I don't have custom recovery but what Im trying to do is hard reset.
I am waiting for the LED to appear before pressing volume UP. After several attempts I gave up waiting for the LED and pressed (many times) the up button soon as I feel the vibration after pressing power on.
no luck. I don't get the option to do hard reset
Any ideas? How do I do a hard reset?
well after search all over the forum i end up with 2 solutions
1-the first was to flash the kernel using this post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/general/tutorial-how-to-boot-to-recovery-lp-690-t3069984
but in a very stupid way i could not do it ( i was using wrong dir ), but im not shure if this method would work.
2- the one i use, i just downgrade fw to 23.0.A.2.93
http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/general/how-to-root-backup-drm-keys-t3013343
after getting recovery i flash 23.1.A.0.726 Lollipop 5.02, Odexed, Pre-Rooted 2.46, XDualRecovery 2.8.14
http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-...03-lollipop-5-02-odexed-pre-rooted-2-t3090505
and done!
I backup all because I erase all

Please read the whole thing before replying - there's a lot of detailed information here:
I stock flashed using Sony PC Companion, which updated me to 757. Full stock, no root or anything, and flashed over my custom recoveries and what not. I did this so I could get to a pure stock device and try downgrading and rooting all over again, thinking I messed up somewhere along the way.
After installation was successful of 757, I used v.9.15 Flashtool to downgrade to 534, and then used vRoot to root the device. I installed the 121-BETA of the Z1 XZDR directly from NUT's page, and it was successful. No errors in the output or anything. First boot into recovery was also fine. I rebooted the device, and it asked me if I wanted to disable the default flash recovery, to which I said YES (it said it was recommended). Phone booted fine at this point into 534.
I powered off the device and waiting about a minute before proceeding, in an attempt to get back into recovery (to confirm everything was fine), so I could flash the 757 root package also from NUT. Volume Up + PWR or Volume Down + PWR, to get into CWM or TWRP (respectively), none worked. Just continued on its merry way into 534.
I don't know what's gone on. I've had significant difficulties since this 757 update, as I was on 681 prior and all was working well. Volume buttons let me enter recovery, nothing was funky. As soon as I installed the 757 update with the 121-BETA of the dual recoveries, everything went wonky.
How do I fix this? I need access to recoveries so I can install the 757 update and stripped package.
Device Info
Device is currently rooted on 534
It's the 6906 variant
Only stock programs are installed/updated
I've removed any bloatware I could with the system uninstall app (not TiBu'ed or Frozen or anything).

I don't know you but I don't boot into recovery like you explained. Volume Up + PWR will shot down your phone and Volume Down + PWR do not work.
I telling you how I do; Shotdown my Phone, Power Button, 1 vibration, leave the phone alone, it will appear the SONY logo, then a Green led will show up and in that moment I use Push Volume Down to enter in TWRP or Volume UP to enter in Philz.
It working without any issues.
Wait for the led coloursv and the double vibrate before pressing the volume keys. It seems you are using the wrong key combination to enter recovery

Wow, that worked.. Any idea when that was changed?
I used to be able to hold the button down during power press and it booted into recovery..
It has never changed, not in all the years I have been doing it....

I tried that many times and couldn't repeat that combo (power + down) probably because it's combo, it's not one button.
Especially if you tried to get into recovery using power + vol up - it'll just hard reboot, nothing else...
And yeah...I'm quite sure you hade to select "no" in recovery question...

So I was about to move from CrystalPA back to the latest FXP CM11 build, i backed things up, went into clockworkmod, did all the needed wipes and was about to flash when I realized I downloaded the honami version instead. So I was downloading the right version but the download took about an hour, i left my phone in CWM while the download was going and by the time it was finished, my phone died. Now I left it on charge overnight so it should have been fully charged but I dont think it did much charging. I got to being able to switch it on and seeing the sony logo but because I'd already done all the wipes (system, data, cache, dalvik) it couldnt boot. I then used the button on the back to switch off and tried to enter recovery by holding vol + when i switched on, then i tried vol -, then i tried the camera button. Nothing happened, just sony logo then a black screen. After a few attempts, the phone is now flashing red when I try to turn it on, and when I plug it into charge, its just a constant red light (brighter than normal charge light).
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to revive my phone?
Thanks
Did you try to push vol -/+ buttons a few times instead of holding them?

I didnt, and i cant now because its just doing red lights only, Ive managed to get it into flashmode so im going to just restore it back to full factory with flashtool and just start again. Hope it works, the flashtool log is saying "device: unknown"
Edit: So the flashing worked, got back to 254 firmware with the old FTF file I still had, I then had to make my own 205 firmware FTF with XperiaFirm and Flashtool, I then flashed the new 205 firmware because Sony PC Companion wouldn't update my phone as its unlocked (i think?). Now all I have to do is install CWM, root and then get CM reinstalled.
I warn everyone - do not leave your phone in recovery when its running low on battery! youll have to start from square 1 if it dies!
Don't need to reflash ftf, just extract boot.img from cm zip and flash on flashtool, then just enter recovery and install cm
Use Lucas's method in the future.
Flashing a recovery-ready kernel is easier you know Anyhow, glad to know your SP worked again.
Hey there,
I followed the guide on XDA to root my Xperia SP with the Towelroot app. The guide is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2783885
I then rebooted my phone into recovery, and flashed the latest build.
I rebooted the phone and downloaded the latest Cynagonenmod 12.1 nightly build for the Xperia SP. Once downloaded I wiped my phone and installed the ROM using the TWRP recovery that I'd installed before. At that point I powered off the phone whilst I downloaded the Gapps package on my PC.
When I returned to my phone to try and turn it on nothing happens. It won't turn on or even load the splash screen when I press the power button.
When I hold the power button , the phone vibrates and nothing more! The reset button on the back of the phone does nothing either unless the phone is plugged into a PC. Even then, the phone vibrates 3 times but still won't turn on properly.
I have gone through the Flashroot tutorials over the last 3 hours trying to solve this problem but I've had no success.
I have found that if I hold the volume key down and connect the phone to the PC then the green light appears on the bottom bar of the phone for a period of about 40 seconds before turning off again. It then turns back on and repeats the process.
I am unsure what to do next. Sorry for the long post.
Any help is much appreciated!!
Flashtool progresss
Sorry for the bump but if this helps anyone that could potentially help me. Here is what happens when I try to use Flashtools to flash a stock ROM onto the Xperia SP.
EDIT: Don't worry I solved the problem. I instead used the PC Companion tool to recover my phone and it worked a charm!
I realised the mistake I made. I tried to install Cyanogen Mod 12.1 without an unlocked bootloader which is what likely caused the brick.
Hellow everybody,
Last days I updated my phone to 5.1.1 official, to check nnew state. This update erase my root status, and I had to begin all the root process, and I did:
1) kingroot
2) SuperSU
3) Install dualrecovery (PhilZ touch)
4) Wipe davil, memory, erase internal memory and sdcard
5) Store Download: cm-12.1-20151223-NIGHTLY-honami.zip (292.74 MB) in sdcard
6) Install zip (rom)
7) Reboot phone
And here it's the problem, my phone doesn't reboot.
Without USB connected:
Normal starte: red led blink
If I press power button, power button + volume up, power button + volume down; nothing happen
USB pulgged:
Normal state: nothing happen
Power button pressed: nothing happen
Power + volume up: red led, blue led, any led, and the cycle is repeated
Power + volume down: red led, green led, any led, and the cycle is repeated
Any idea? How can I do?
It seems too bad.... I think a new movil is coming...
Thank you and regards...
Is the boot-loader unlocked? if not then you have to unlock it to install source based ROM like CM .
To restore your phone and unlock the boot-loader :
1. Flash the phone with a stock ROM using flash-tool to restore it.
2. Backup your TA partition in case you want to re-lock it again ( and to restore DRM keys ).
3. Unlock the boot-loader using Sony method (this will wipe all your phone so make sure to backup what you want).
now you have to repeat the steps you did before or flash a kernel that have a recovery builtin and jump to step 5.
I guess bootloader is still alive then.
Power off by keep pressing pw button by few seconds.
(* If it doesn't work, open the usim tray slot and press reset pin for few sec)
And.. enter the flashmode and just flash a stock firmware using flashtool.
I made a foolish mistake before- wiped system partition and reboot without flashing any firmware. However even there's no OS installed, flashmode was worked.
Thank you so much!!!!! I will try today, your news sound great! Anyway, I will post my progress (or not).
Thanks again and regards!
Edit: As Abdu99andy and PielunA says, it was solved using flashtool.
Just add a thing, it was not neccesary to flash a new rom. My device works with the previous rom flashed (CM 12.1).
Thanks!

You must unlock bootloader before installing CM.
Also, Philztouch sometimes cracks the rom. Use TWRP.
Hello all,
I've "inherited" my brother's Xperia SP. I've rooted it before, so now that I "own" it I've decided to flash a custom rom on it. When I flashed the rom and gapps, tried to restart, now it won't boot. I flashed using TWRP. Not bootloader is not unlocked, and neither can it be unlocked.
It doesn't even want to charge, I plug it in, but it is not reacting at all.
When I press the off button at the back, and the press the power button, I get a soft quick vibrate and then nothing happens. I go press and hold on the off button again, and try power + vol down. I get the middle notification light to flash green quick and then disappears. Nothing happens.
Help? I followed and read up instructions to install the ROM. I was on the 4.3 stock before flashing.
How I flashed: went to TWRP, factory reset, wipe system, install rom, install gapps, restart. Did I screw up somewhere? I feel like I might have, but I didn't think it would get bricked when I have a locked bootloader. Any insight to what might have happened, at least? Thanks.

I don't remember the thread, but the file name is this one: Slim-huashan-5.1.1.beta.0.12-UNOFFICIAL-20151119-1622.zip
Now that I go through the stuff, I see what you mean that witha locked bootloader I can only flash a limited selection of roms... What bugs me is that the phone isn't even starting up. Not charging. PC can't see it either.
When I turn on, just a soft vibrate and then nothing. I press the off button at the back, and then press and hold vol down + power, the middle green led flashes once, and then nothing. If I connect to charger and hold the off button, it vibrates three times and then nothing. I try again, it vibrates two times. I don't get it. :S
I feel like I screwed up big time. (won't be the first time) but I'm curious is this is really dead or is there something I can still do about it.
It's a softbrick. You need to find an official firmware for your SP and flash it flashtool. You can look on the forum for guides for this.

It seems you have soft bricked your phone by flashing that ROM.
For installing official firmware, this video tutorial can help you.
