I own Two Lumia 535s, 1 Lumia running WP 7.8, 1 HTC Surround running WP7.5, an android and a laptop running Win 8.1.
Now the phones running WP 8.1 are DEAD SLOW and i am not exaggerating. FB and Messenger apps are just impossible to use with this speed. This wifi network is of my landlord for which I pay a certain amount for sharing his internet. I have already restarted his router several times after changing bandwidth and channel etc settings without telling him. I am just so fed up of these two phones now.
Internet and all apps run fine on WP 7.8, 7.5, android and laptop. The only issue i face is with lumia 535 running WP8.1. If any of you guyz would be kind enough to tell me what is the problem here and guide me towards the solution, I would be much grateful
And i would like to add that when i use virtual router from my laptop, the two 535s connect and run fine.
Regards

I got you have problems oly on 8.1 and I think uou are experiencing no internet issue on lumia cyan
Try to download a denim firmware on pc and flash all your devices
Also so you can try to get windows phone 8.1 update using preview for developers
I have updated the phone to the latest version

eeeemmmmmmmm , I don't know .
maybe your ADSL or Wifi Router modem configuration is not OK , but you say it has no problem on android or wp7 so I have to suggest you post your question in answers.microsoft.com or wait for others to answer you .
Have you try your Lumia on an other Wifi Network ?

I am scheduled to Deploy to Iraq later this fall and will be taking my trusty N1.
In Iraq you pay an incredible amount of money for the internet it is something like $75 for 96k. One on the down falls is you link up via cat5. I had my HTC Touch Pro last time and I was able to update data etc surf the internet using active sync via miniusb while it was plugged in to my laptop. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
Not sure if this will work on the N1 (do any custom ROMs support ad-hoc WiFi?), but worth a shot: http://modmymobile.com/forums/491-jailbreak-root-access/544146-connect-g1-ad-hoc-network-solved.html (skip to "Step 3" for instructions on changing the tiwlan.ini file).
P.S. Needs root for obvious reasons.
If you run Windows 7 check out www.connectify.me It will turn your current connection into a wifi access point on through your computer's wireless device

Thanks for that link, I'll have to try it out!
[Edit]
Unfortunately Connectify's Access Point mode is only supported on a limited number of WiFi cards, as seen here. My fairly new (1 year old) Lenovo X61 Tablet can only do Ad-Hoc, which still requires modding the wpa-supplicant on the N1. At that point Connectify becomes useless, since you can enable ICS in Windows on your own.
sweet and thanks. i am using this in-flight on gogo so i have access to two devices and only pay for one.
Sorry you are having issues, but yea not all cards are supported. Luckily, both my desktop and laptop have been compatible. My laptop initially had issues because I was not on the newest drivers for the wireless card. If your card isn't directly listed on the unsupported list, it might be worth it to try and upgrade drivers and test one more time.
Unfortunately I am running Xp on my laptop.

The first link is a guide for setting up an ad-hoc connection on Windows XP, the second is a link to a change to the Android source code that's been abandoned 2 months ago.
The good news is that according to the comments on the 2nd link Google is working on implementing Ad-Hoc support. The bad news is that it's not in FroYo, so we might have to wait for Gingerbread to see it. Of course, there's nothing preventing CyanogenMod team from implementing this change into CM6, so they would be the best people to ask about it.
In the network settings on my mac you can 'broadcast' your connection. The tutorial I read showing me how to do that said windows has a similar feature.
You can use travel router and setup internet sharing...
Source: you have to right-click the connection source->properties->advanced and setup the internet sharing.
Destination: If you have a spare ethernet jack, GOOD! Use it.
I know some Ralink-based wifi cards support virtual AP mode (the best bet are Hawking and Asus and I have both).

so no WiFi for me??until I get my router?
Well, since it's quite unusual for a home router to not be using DHCP, I'd be a little surprised if that's the problem (though it could be). The other possibility is that the phone's firmware just needs an update; if you get a pre-GD2 phone then update should come soon.
What error do you get after entering the password?

I had a defective Chromecast that finally got replaced. That old one used to be recognized by my laptop and the mobile devices (iPad, Galaxy Note 2). My new one arrived and I performed the setup from my phone vs. from my laptop. Now, I can only see the Chromecast from my mobile devices and NOT from my laptop. Help is worthless, and Google Support is just about as useless... Has anyone experienced this? The only thing I can think of is that the first time, I set up my Chromecast from my laptop and then it was viewable from all devices. This time, I set it up from my mobile device and now it's only viewable from my mobile devices... Any suggestions?

I'll give it a shot and it will likely do the trick, but why should that make any difference? Know what I mean? It's on my network, can be seen by other devices, it shouldn't matter which device set it up as long as it's properly connected to my local network and visible.
I'm having the same problem here.
I live in Austria so no official support right now but anyway...
Chromecast can be set up with Notebook and Android Phone without any problem.
It was always working with Android + google music, youtube and netflix (with dns hack)
It was never working with Notebook and Google Chrome Browser and plugin. Chromecast isn't listed in the Chrome Browser but I can find the device with the windows configuration app. Very strange and clearly a bug and no network problem.
Right now, no support from Google... -_-
PS: hard-reset and reconfigure over notebook is useless. Still not working and I guess and expect it makes no difference to configure over Android or Windows...
PPS: Windows 8.1 was used...
I had the same problem, solved by uninstalling vmware, it does not support virtual networks

Hey,
On GDR3, my phone doesn't get any connection at all when I try to connect to my Fiddler proxy to install Nokia Camera on my 820. Is this an error on my side or did Microsoft change something concerning wifi connections? It's not that it doesn't let me download apps for other devices, it doesn't have any network connection. I hope this is the right forum, since it is a question.. Thanks in advance!

I've tested it (with GDR3 on my Ativ S) and it works like a charm.
Are you sure you enabled other devices connecting to fiddler in the fiddler options? you could check your firewall settings too...or disable it simply

Weird.. I don't even have a firewall, I only use Windows for my phone And the other devices thing is activated. Just to check it, is the following everything or did i forget something?
-same wifi
-"allow other devices to connect" checked
-replaced my phone code with the 1020 one
-port 8888
that's everything I did, I also tried to turn on https decrypting, but it doesn't even load the certificate from ip:8888/FiddlerRoot.cer, it says connection timed out..
EDIT: Okay, it was the firewall. Looks like on stock windows, it's turned on, sorry.. However it still won't work with region set to USA and replacing my 820 code with "RM-877_nam_att_205", a USA 1020. Any tips? I'm trying to install Nokia Camera.

I forgot to say that I only tried other Nokia apps like Panorama or Creative Studio... the Nokia Camera App also didn't worked for me yet.
It's an almost known method now and it's possible that Nokia somehow tries to prevent other "non-authorized users" from downloading this app.
You can also try to use this phone code "RM-892_eu_euro2_200" it's from the 925, which is also authorized as I know.
I've also tried the fiddler method on a 520 and got some issues with downloading other Nokia apps, but I didn't spent a lot of time with that so I don't know whats the important string that needs to be replaced with fiddler

EDIT: Finally it worked! Thanks for the 925 code!! It took a few tries, but then it started the install and I now have the app

glad to read that, it worked for me too, but i had to use fiddler to cloak my OS Version to the GDR2 one...now the app is installed, but doesn't really work...I think it's due to Nokia drivers...

yep! had to do that too, just tried out faking every value to one of a device I know it works on do you have a Samsung? In a german forum they report it works on HTC devices..
Yes, got the Ativ S and sometimes a L520 here, which runs the Nokia Camera App now
Yeah, I've seen that article too while I was searching for a solution to install it on my device...but I'm also active in that forum cause I'm from Germany

On my Ativ is closing itself...
Don't worry 'bout that, it's even not working on mine. There's only the introduction and after that it's closing itself. I meant it's only working here on the L520...

Samsung seems to be missing some drivers every other OEM includes, ProShot has issues too with the Ativ S and the dev can do nothing about it.. so it's not some kind of check by nokia.
I have Nokia Camera on my Ativ S GDR3 but it doesn't work
Hello.
I have a Problem with a VPN L2TP/IPSec Connection.
As far as i know there were/are problems with the Z series and the VPN.
Are these Problems still around or should they have gotten fixed?
It must be the Phone, since its working on Windows and Windows Phone (No iOS device around to try it out)

not sure if is the same thing but i'm using openVPN without problem
On my Z3c, I use a commercial VPN (probably shouldn't name it here) with zero problems.
