I'm sorry for the possible noob question. I'm not a rookie to ROMing but just picked up a SM-G900A with 4.4.4 installed on the OA1 baseband. I was hoping a kind soul would answer a few questions for me. I have got it rooted with Towelroot
1. Can CM12 or 12.1 be installed on this device? If so, is it using TWRP or is SafeStrap still being used?
2. Does CM12 or 12.1 work well on this device? Should I bother?
3. If CM12 or 12.1 works and works well, has anyone been able to install the stock camera app on it. I'm sure the stock camera app is far superior to what come with CM.
thanks!

Thanks for the fast reply. So I think I saw lollipop based ROMS floating out there that are pre-rooted. Did I see that right or are all the TW based ROMS out there still 4.4 based?

Also do not take the L OTA. There is no root for it and won't be able to downgrade!

Hi everyone,
I'm on 4.2.2 Camera OTA, and I know I can root. I also want to try out KitKat, but how can I move between the three options?
For example:
I like stock. I think I will root, but I may want to try KitKat too. And once on KitKat, I will probably want to go back to 4.2.2 stock, or maybe rooted.
How do I upgrade while rooted, or downgrade from KitKat?
Any help would be great, I hard bricked my last Moto X while trying to get back to 4.2.2 stock..
Why would you want to be on 4.2.2? 4.4 is official.... It is stock. And it is basically better in every way

Not sure if I like the new white theme and some other stuff..and rooting is much easier on 4.2.2!
Just want to be able to move between them easily..
Is anyone else missing the button to do a manual OTA update? I have searched and searched all over in my phone's settings and have not found it anywhere. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks

I did. It isn't there. Could this be due to the fact it is rooted and running a custom rom?

After rebooting my phone I checked again and it is there, but now when I press on it to check it nothing happens. Not sure what is going on. I am running the Dynamic Rom 2.0 if that makes any difference

well for one thing you dont need system update with a custom rom if you are trying to get a update from your carrier it is best to be completly stock

I am pretty sure I did use Kingo to root. Not too sure about the rest. I use safestrap to run the custom roms.
So, if I have this correct, unroot with kingo, delete safestrap, and then factory reset?
Thanks again for all of your help
Make sure that you wipe and restore your stock backup in safestrap recovery first

i am not sure but i think they figured out away to unlock bootloader on earlier firmware versions on the s4
Still incorrect... they do not have flashable kernels on the AT&T S4 post MDL.
Kexec is required.

Also, there is still no unlocked bootloader on the earlier firmwares. Only a workaround known as LokiDoki. That was patched in MF3 and later versions.

While I would love some kernels. I'm fine with stock for now. Amazing battery with it lol so for now it's not as dire.

I wouldnt mind some hacking for some AOSP love. I remember the 2nd init days and I had an s4 so was accustomed to loki.
While I love AOSP/AOKP, I personally feel like it wouldn't be all that great on this device. Way too many features would be gone.

Rooting the AT&T Galaxy Note 3. I assume there isn't a way to root this device with stock OTA 4.4.2? Considering I haven't been able to find anything on it, I assume I am correct on this.
Am I also correct that the only way to root and have a custom ROM will be to root from MJ5 and flash a 4.4 ROM that way? I am interested in running SlimROM.
Thanks.
That's correct

is it ok to flash straight to 4.4.2 Malladus 2.0.3?
No. Read Xdabbeb's rom op for instructions on how to do it correctly.

Or, revert to stock, take the ota to kk, then you're good. Either way works!

Yes, actually that will work fine assuming you follow my directions outlined in my Malladus ROM thread. Please let me know if you need any help with it.
