What ROM you are running?
Many JB kernels have In-Call Volume options in Advanced settings.
You can't increase the volume above build-in amplifier/speaker limits.

If music plays fine, then your speaker is good. You have 3 more things to check:
- What is notification and ringtones volume settings level? Set all sliders to max.
(you probably did)
- Is Ascending Ringtone (in Interface > Sound) enabled? Check Ringing Start Volume and Increase Interval settings.
(set about 40-50% volume for Ringing Start and 2sec for Increase Interval)
- What files you use for notification and ringtone? Some mp3 files are just recorded with low volume level.
(your problem most likely, try with default sounds and find something louder and high pitched)
Is anybodu also using Faux Sound control?
Up to now I did not have problems with it but now I try to use it for
changing the left-right balance on the headphone speakers.
When using VLC or the built-in music player ypu do not seem to
have control over the balance, I know some other aps like Poweramp
do have this control but I do not like to add another app.
So then I remembered I'm already using the Faux sound control app.
Up to now I was using it for setting up a silent, loud or quality profile.
But with the custom profile you can change all the settings yourself.
So first of all I tried to change the analog g ain controls because I'm using the headphones with the audio jack but this did not help.
So then I changed the Digital gain controls, but when lowering the left or the right channel the result was that both of them went to the lowest volume.
In the sound control app they had a separate setting but in real life they took the lowest of both volumes.
I know I should ask this on Paul Reioux the creator of the app but I cannot find his email or support for his apps.
Is there any way to manually just the equalizer settings in Sounds > Audio Effects? You can only select from the presets and grabbing the bars to move them doesn't work.
Unfortunately, no way to adjust them - only able to use the presets. You would need to use something custom, like PowerAmp in order to set the sound.
I am a little confused about fauxsound. These "gains" and "amplifier control" simply just adjust the audio volume right? and the right ratio or something will reduce background noise? All these settings don't really affect the music quality right? What is the difference between the digital, analog/poweramp, and the moto x-specific amplifer gain settings? thank you very much. some suggested settings would be nice
I'm getting very noticeable fluctuations in audio levels while recording video of myself playing music using the native camera app. Anybody have any idea how to fix this? I don't see any options in the settings to set record levels or turn off the automatic gain control. Thanks.
