[Q] Apps can't update or download.... - Xperia Z3 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all,
I'm having a bit of an issue where I can't download or update anything from play store or anywhere else really. Things start downloading and then when they near completion and get to about 98%, they get stuck there and eventually give an error that they cant download. It's only happening on my new Lollipop install. I flashed the 23.1.A.0.726 ftf file on an unlocked bootloader and i am running it on Androplus advanced stock kernel v2.
I've not has this issue on a similar version of kitkat that I currently have a back up of on the same phone. \I'm just bouncing between the two when i get some time to try and fault find the lollipop version. Obviously I want to move to the lollipop version permanently but i will only do that when I've sorted out this issue.
I cant seem to find anyone having the same issue. I've tried the following methods but they didn't work....
First.
Quick toggle pull down
Settings
Apps
Swipe left to the "all" catagory
Scroll down till you find "Google Play Store"
Force stop
Clear data
Now try the play store
If that doesn't work
Try
Quick Toggle pull down
Settings
Scroll down to accounts
Tap Google
Tap your account
Tap the settings menu (three dots in the upper right)
Remove Account
Back out to the settings screen
Add Account
Google
Sign in with your Google account
Does anyone have any other possible solutions to this or know what the hell maybe going on?
Thank you!!

Have you removed/disabled/freezed any apps?

Thanks for the suggestions. I had a look in system apps and both of these are there and unfrozen.
I'm actually trying to run LP 5.0.2: Massive DEBLOATING/23.1.A.0.726 custom FW for Z3C -all working (xposed etc) by moly82. I've tried a full wipe and install via recovery and still i cant get any apps to actually fully download and install. They all get to 99%and then never install for some weird reason.

did you finally solved somehow your problem?
try to flash the latest ROM from moly82 (v4): http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/general/wip-debloat-lp-690-correct-functioning-t3076161

[Q] Can't install apps from android market

I have a Galaxy S I9000M, just came back from repair at the Montreal Repair Depot.
Had some trouble unlocking it to run on Fido network, but finally got that working using Helroz's unlock tool (so, phone is rooted) and unlocked).
Used it for a little while (about an hour) installed a couple of apps, and now, suddenly, I cannot install apps from the Android Market. When I try to install, the app goes through the process of downloading, but then it does nothing. I get no error message, no notice of install failing, the app download indicator disappears from my notification area, and the app is not installed.
Has anyone else run into this issue?
Any idea of a fix? I have powered off/on, no change. I would prefer to avoid having to factory reset, but will do so if absolutely necessary.
Thanks in advance for any input.
Having the same exact problem here...
same issue
Same thing is happening to me as well. It started after I rooted my phone using super one click root.
I also used super one click root on my phone, but the if that's the cause of the problem, then it doesn't cause it right away. I was able to install several apps after rooting, then suddenly I couldn't install anything.
I have read that for some people, unmounting the SD card will work. i had an external SD card installed, but i had that in before I downloaded apps that installed properly. For me, unmounting (and removing) the external SD card did not have any effect on my problem.
For what it's worth, I'm not running any special ROm or anything - just standard Froyo 2.2 (JL2) as released by Samsung for the Bell I9000M (I didn't upgrade, it shipped back from repair with JL2 installed).
Same here

Would anyone know if this is a sudden common problem or any ways to fix this?
Same thing happening to me on my Vibrant and Galaxy Spica 2.1 used the themed markets and still the same thing

let the market update the new version of maps and itll work. its workin now for me.
How can I force Maps to update?
Just some info guys: it seems to be a known issue. Checked the help in the main Market page: http://market.android.com/support/bin/static.py?page=known_issues.cs .
It's under download and installation issues. Please report it if you're having the same problem so they can fix it faster.
Ok the problem seems to be fixed by downloading/updating the Google Maps app. If it still doesn't work make sure to:
-clear data on the market app
-restart your phone
-update Google map and let it install fully

I am not really sure, mine showed that it needed an update. Maybe you can try to uninstall/install Google Map again and make sure to clear data on the market application FIRST.
After clearing my Market cache, and uninstalling market updates, market re-updated itself, and I can now install apps again (who knows fo how long, though). Hopefully, it will stay and i will stay happy.
Under Manage Applications I can't uninstall Market Updater for the above solution.
Any help?
im haviing the same issue guys, i have put a post up with same sort of problems

Sorry could I get some clarification on the suggestion jayisgod posted? Cos Im obviously missing something here.
I personally force stopped the market App, cleared the data in Manage Applications (btw the Cache button is grayed out) and then restarted the Market app (Agreed on the terms blah blah) and still get the same issue.
Btw in Manage Applications -> All I can see a Market Updater package but I can't delete it or force stop it (both options are grayed out).
Thanks
PS: I am using Darky's Rom V9.1 if that makes any difference

[Q] Galaxy Tab Market Not Working?

After having installed Overcome (Kratos) on my Galaxy Tab, I noticed that the Android Market was not working properly. When I try to open the application, it says "You must add an account to the device to continue. Do you want to add one now?", and exits the application, whether I choose Yes or No. My question is; is this a problem with Overcome or a problem with my Galaxy Tab? And how would I go about fixing this?
Anybody???
I also recently flashed overcome, kratos but my marketplace is working fine, do you have your gmail set up? I set my gmail up first thing and when I went into the marketplace for the first time all I had to do was accept the terms and it automatically logged me in. You could also try 1. Clearing market data and cache, 2. Uninstalling and reinstalling the market.apk.
Sent From Githrog's Tab
#1 doesn't seem to work for me; it still closes. when I try to uninstall the market, it gives me a warning, can this be ignored?
When I first got my tab, I flashed the euro firmware to enable the voice capability but once finished my market kept giving me an error message that my device was not compatible with the android marketplace, it obviously was so I went to manage applications in the settings menu and forced stop the market then I uninstalled it and downloaded the market.apk from here at xda and it installed fine, I never got the error message I was getting ever again.
Last resort, you could always try reflashing kratos, and just a question, did you restock your tab when you installed kratos? Or did you just install through cwm?
Sent From Githrog's Tab
Uninstalling it doesn't seem to work; it gives me the option to add an account and then closes...would restoring the tablet possibly fix it?
Is your gmail working as it sounds like you havent logged into your google account.

You could try factory reset, clear cache and data through recovery mode,
I just can not seem to find any answers online to fix your market problem.

Well, when I first restored the device, I added the wrong account, but never found an option to add the correct one (Under "Accounts" in Settings, there is no option to add accounts); I'm assuming this is part of the problem?
I did a factory reset and wiped things like the dalvik cache; now, instead of giving me an option to pick an account (Note that it was not on the device when I first restored it) it force closes. Any solutions?
I managed to solve the problem by replacing the market with the newest version...but now, when I click anything, the market force closes...
EDIT: The problem appears to have to do with the Tab downloading things; when I reboot the device, the Market works fine until I try to download something, and then it force closes.

I'm not sure if it's possible like that but if you try to push it some sec on the notification you have information about the application or something like that, select it then choose disable.
Yes, you can, on unrooted device go to Apps > All > Update Center and Clear Cache and Stop the Application. The notification will disappear but when you will Reboot your phone, it will be back and you will have to repeat the process.
or
Install Root Uninstaller, Root needed, and Disable the Application, it will be Frozen. No more notifications.
I use the Xposed module NotifyClean for this very purpose.

It's not possible to simply disable notifications instead disabling all the app in the app settings?
goto
settings/apps/all/update centre
then untick the option to show notifications
no root needed

Is not working, again. I did this 10 times before give up and I do this again to let you see that I already tried.
Wi-Fi on, I reboot my phone, the notification appear on notificatiuon Bar. I go to Apps > All > Update Center and I FORCE STOP, the notification disappear, the option Show Notifications still Hided. Then I clear Data and Cache too, nothing.
To be sure I disable Wi-Fi and reboot, the application running again but no notification (of curse wi-fi off) then I repeat the process, Apps > All > Update center, Force Stop, nothing, the option still hided.
This is what I talking about.
Maybe they changed that on 4.4, sorry I still on 4.3, but to me should not make any difference as the application have his own version.
Well, my update centre is version
2.2.0.A.0.8
Maybe you should update the update centre to that...

Same here, cannot untick it, it's grayed out, but I just cleared the data in Update Center app, and done. Notification gone, it comes back but after a long while (I've deleted data and it's been two weeks since the notification hasn't appeared) or in the case of a phone restart or if you refresh the app in the app drawer, forcing it to re-check for an update.

That's why on 4.3 with Update Center v2.1.1.A.0.10 is better to Disable the App, but to do that you have to be Rooted and have Root Uninstaller installed.

[Q] HTC One Automatically Reboots "Process com.htc.htcdialer isn't responding"

[Q] HTC One Automatically Reboots "Process com.htc.htcdialer isn't responding"
I managed to "successfully" flash the ViperOne 6.1.0 ROM onto my Sprint HTC One (S-On.) However, I get a message saying "Process com.htc.htcdialer isn't responding. Do you want to close it?" This causes my phone to automatically reboot every couple of minutes, making it useless. I also noticed some thins don't work such as the Play Store and the search bar on the home screen. It is apparent that something is wrong with the flash (even though I tried to flash it twice after I saw this behaviour the first time and I did wipe both times.)
What is going on? How can I fix it? What causes it (what I really want to know is if I were to fix it and then attempt to install the ROM again, would it cause the issue again?)

Does that mean flash the firmware? If so, that won't be possible. My phone is S-On, and from what I've read it needs to be S-Off. I tried to make it S-Off a few minutes ago using Rumrunner but it failed (because my phone automatically rebooted during the process I assume.)
Plus, I can't access my phone's storage via my computer; it doesn't seem to mount properly. Wouldn't matter if it did anyways, as it disconnects after a minutes anyways. I was hoping I could just install the stock ROM and leave this stuff alone for now.
I should mention that this is the first time I've ever tried to flash a custom ROM or really do anything "advanced" with an Android phone. I didn't expect to run into so many bloody problems. What a nightmare.

You can flash the radio from recovery.
Since you can't connect to PC while booted to rom boot to recovery and type
Code:
adb push filename.zip /sdcard/
When it's on your phone just choose it and flash once it's done flashing wipe cache and dalvik cache and you should be good

Okay, I flashed the latest radio. So far it hasn't said anything about the dialer crashing and when I open it, it actually works. However, the play store and search bar (and probably other things) still don't work. Something is still wrong.
For now I just want to make my phone work and I will try to go back to the stock ROM, though I still want to get the custom ROM working.

I flashed it doesn't seem like it's helping. The only problem that I am experiencing right now is that the play store doesn't work. It just shows a blank, white screen and seems to re-open over itself. I get a notification saying "An application requires installation of Google Play Services. Requested by com.google.android.gsf.login" When I click on the notification, it takes me to the play store and nothing happens (though one time the phone rebooted after I pressed it.) I found that I do have Google Play Services installed and that the notification is supposed to take me to the store page for the app, but it doesn't work.

Connected via Wi-Fi. My phone says I am also connected to the network, but I believe that this is false because I have not activated my phone (unless activating it on the stock ROM transfers over to this one?) and in the rare occasion that I get ANY service in this part of my home, it'd be only one bar, not four.

I posted earlier stating that I saw Google Play Services listed under my apps, and it was up-to-date as far as I know. It does ask me if I want to install it but then takes me to the Google account sign-in (which I can't sign into.) Clearing the data on every Google app I saw and rebooting did not resolve the sign-in issue.
I'm going to try to re-flash the ROM, fix, and radio because I managed to sign in during the set-up. I'll see if that clears up all of my problems.
EDIT: WORKED! Few minutes in and not a single problem so far. Signed into Google and the Play Store works. I may be speaking too soon though.
Thanks for the help!
Side question: How can I remove some apps such as HTC Apps and HTC Backup? I click on them and it says the apps are not installed but they still show up in the list of apps.

[TIP] How to disable the Google OTA updates completely

PROCEDURE to disable the Google Official OTA updates completely:
*. You need to be rooted for this.
1. Install this app: Disable Services and open it.
2. Select the 'System' tab.
3. Select the "Google Services Framework" app and uncheck (disable) the following service: SystemUpdateService
4. Come back and select the "Google Play Services" and uncheck this service: SystemUpdateService
Tested and working on Android One devices & Google Nexus.
That's it! You'll never get the update notification and neither will you be able to check it manually.
If you, by chance, feel you want the update, you can re-enable these services again to receive updates.

Well, if you tried Lollipop and returned back to KitKat, or
If you're one among those who like the KitKat 4.4.4 better than the new Lollipop 5.1 due to your own reasons, this thread is really going to help you.
Reasons why you might not like the 5.1 OTA update:
1. It is too materialistic!!
2. It doesn't support Xposed as of now.
3. You're too used to KitKat and abundant Mods available for it.
PROCEDURE to disable the OTA updates completely:
*. You need to be rooted for this.
1. Install this app: Disable Services and open it.
2. Select the 'System' tab.
3. Select the "Google Services Framework" app and uncheck (disable) the following services:
a. CheckinService
b. SystemUpdateService
4. Come back and select the "Google Play Services" and uncheck this option: 'SystemUpdateService'
That's it! You'll never get the update notification and neither will you be able to check it manually.
If you, by chance, feel you want the update, you can try re-enabling these services again, but this will help only till Google is giving the batch updates. Otherwise, there are many download links for it, so just download and flash it via recovery if required.
P.S. This thread may seem weird, but there are people who would really need it. And it's just for them

Well, if you tried Lollipop and returned back to KitKat, and
If you're one among those who like the KitKat 4.4.4 better than the new Lollipop 5.1 for now due to your own reasons, this thread is really going to help you.
Reasons why you might not like the 5.1 OTA update NOW:
3. Select the "Google Services Framework" app and uncheck (disable) the following service: SystemUpdateService
4. Come back and select the "Google Play Services" and uncheck these option: SystemUpdateService
That's it! You'll never get the update notification and neither will you be able to check it manually.
If you, by chance, feel you want the update, you can try re-enabling these services again, but this will help only till Google is giving the batch updates. Otherwise, there are many download links for it, so just download and flash it via recovery if required.

Yes it will. But you can just disable play services notification to don't receive update notification. That will do the job too, instead of this procedure.
thanks a lot dude... play services was auto downloading andoid one updates without a notice thereby hogging my data and battery. I'm on custom rom and I can't see the point of that.. Anyway I think this tweak fixed the issue.. thanks again.

Confirm, It does not work on 6.0.1. How to prevent update from 6.0.1 to 7.0? (Nexus 6)
