[Q] pocket dialing 911? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S6

So this past week I've realized that my pocket has been pressing the emergency button on my lock screen. Is there anyway to prevent this from happning? Thank you.

I use fingerprint unlock and this has never happened to me.

Pocket Dialing again :(

Just got the diamond2 and am loving it. Came from the touch pro. Problem is I have been pocket dialing while its in my leather case. This is not good, as I am a real estate salesperson and it is calling some important people. Does anyone have a solution? BTW, I was using touch lock pro on the touch pro.
Thanks!
hi lorettaboy
you should lock the kets by holding the end call button for a few seconds and that should sort your problem out
I forget what it's called but there is this locking software that will completely lock the phone if you rotate it around the long axis one way and unlock if you do the same the other way.
I have been using throttle lock though. It is like the Android unlock screen where you draw patterns.
If u press the power on/off button for a second, the screen goes off.....isnt it ok to avoid your problem?

I think what may be happening is that the power button is being pressed while in the case unlocking the phone and keys. I had this happen before and still does sometimes when in my pocket.
4 characters: S2U2
Hoping wm6.5 features a lock that's as functional as S2U2.
I personally use http://pocketshield.netserver01.com/ It locks your phone when its closed, and you have different ways to 'wake' it. the 3 that I set it currently is:
1. if the phone is in the case (aka dark) it will not unlock even if phone is ringing, but once you remove it from the sleeve/pouch it will be unlocked.
2. If its night time and the above prevents you from unlocking in the night, shaking phone left to right once will unlock it
3. lastly if I take out stylus it will unlock.

Googled it, light sensor lock sounded interesting, tested it. Never got the light sensor unlock to work. Had to keep tapping the lock button for a varying number of times to unlock. But worse: got catch-22-ed twice within ten minutes.
The first time I got caught with the screen on, the 'turn off' dialog active, and Touch lock Pro active but not clickable because of the turn off dialog. No way to unlock the device and the power button was hijacked by Touch Lock Pro. Removed back cover, took out battery and restarted.
The second time the device locked with the screen off, and the power button couldn't turn the screen on again. No way to find out what happened this time. Removed back cover, took out battery and restarted.
This tool is possibly the least compatible tool with the TD2 you will ever find

Pocket dialing

Whats the best way you have found to prevent pocket dialing? Ive turned ambient display off and have to use a patern to unlock now. It the only way Ive been able to stop it. It works but I dont like not being able to use ambient display and I also dont like how long it take to open the phone with the pattern.
Any ideas?

Well, other than the obvious, don't put it in your pocket pattern, pin, password is the answer. Ambient display can be turned back on with a screen lock set. Or set screen lock to swipe. That might be a help. Or possibly a flip case.
Enable the Smart Lock feature under Settings->Security. Then set up a trusted Bluetooth device (wearable, etc.) paired with the phone to bypass the screen lock when in range. I use a Motorola Keylink on the key chain in my pocket.
Then, before putting the phone in your pocket, touch the Power button to turn off the screen. To turn it on again, while connected to your trusted Smart Lock device, you merely have to swipe the screen after touching the Power key.
even with a pin on my phone i sometimes pocket dial... only happened like 2 or 3 times in the 4 months ive had the phone. somehow it pulled up the emergency dialer.

I never add emergency contacts because this kept happening. No emergency contacts + some kind of lock is the best solution. I just write an emergency phone number to contact in the "Owner Info" in settings, so an emergency phone number shows up on the lock screen in case I ever lose my phone, and someone finds it and plans to return it.

i dont have emergency contacts either. what im saying is on my lock screen it brings up the dial pad and half the time its selected the emergency dialer at the bottom of the pin screen.

I'm guessing you have a pattern as your unlock method, so the emergency dialer is always at the bottom as soon as the screen turns on.
Try changing it to a PIN, so you have swipe up first, and then the emergency dialer/PIN screen come up.

no like i said i have a pin as my lock screen challenge. somehow the phone manages to swipe up the dialer or the unlock button and then pulls up the emergency dialer and start tapping numbers.
Same issue here, whether i have pattern or pin its still managed to unlock phone and pocket dial from the emergency dialler. I did have my pebble watch in smart unlock, this did all manner of things from video call the missus to change settings and force me to restore rom as i couldnt work out the issues.
I have a flip case that i really do not want to use as phone is big enough, ambient display on or off it still does it!

Remove Emergency Call from Lock Screen

Is there anyway to remove the Emergency Call button from the lock screen for the Z3 Compact?
The buttons keep getting pressed while the phone is in my pocket...
I don't believe that can be removed. I think phones are required to have the ability to made an emergency call from the lock screen.

I wish they could use proximity sensor to detect this pocket dialing...
Yes... this sucks.... somehow the "Tap to wake up" is much more sensitive than my LG G2....
My phone would constantly be waken up while in my pocket and the emergency dialer would get pressed all the time...
I wish there is a solution for this...
Agreed. I cannot use the double tap to wake either. When walking and listening to podcasts or music I hear a series of tones. When I take my phone out if my pocket I see it has dialed a bunch of numbers.

Same problem. It sucks.
I always use tap to wake but what i do is, i put my phone into my pocket such that the screen does not face the thigh. As in, the screen will face outwards so that there can never be any touch inputs.

Sorry but i don't speak English, anyway...
You can use gravity box with Xposed
In lockscreen tweaks, enable / disable emergency call.

need help to disable Emergency call on Lock screen or change Emergency call number!

This easy access emergency call feature on LOCK SCREEN is so annoying. My 2 and half years old is able to figure out how to dial 911 because LG make it so easy to dial by just selecting it instead of entering the number. I've tried a couple 3rd party lock screens, they would do the trick but not able to use the finger print to unlock.
Always on feature won't help either, he can get to regular lock screen by pressing the power button.
I wan't able to persuade him not to play around with my phone at this moment. I might get into trouble if he keep doing this.
Since i am staying home 24/7 with him there is always a moment he has his hand on my phone without me noticing it.
I am currently using AT&T G8 with android 10. Can I root it and remove 911 or change it to other number?
is there any ADB command would do the trick?

Question Phone unlocking in pocket

I often find that my phone is unlocked or pocket dialed in my pocket, occasionally feeling a little vibration when I guess it is trying to unlock.
I unlock with fingerprint usually. My trouser pockets clearly don't have my fingerprints pressing against the sensor.
I've turned on the "pocket mode" option in advanced settings but it still does it.
Is there any way I can fix this? I am not rooted and have locked bootloader.
Thanks

At least they are consistent
I'm using Pocket Lock from Play Store, I set it to lock my phone when it's upside down and the screen is getting turned on.
It's not perfect, but solves the above problem which annoyed me as well as you.
Edit: I've turned off the phone's own pocket mode, Pocket Lock alone is sufficient enough.

Big problem also for me, I've made like a thousand call or multiple WhatsApp forward...
I solved turning off face unlock. Just using the fingerprint or sequence
The most confusing thing here is how on earth does the phone accept the unlock while in pocket? When using my finger it rejects it often enough.. in my pocket my thigh has a higher success rate? I doubt it randomly would draw the right pattern so often.
So all a thief would have to do is put the phone in their pocket and it unlocks eventually!
Use a case/care when placing in pocket and place the back the phone against your skin, not the display.
What's really disturbing is when you find it has opened setup pages you don't even recognize
Has anybody tried Pocket Lock? ASUS' built-in pocket mode is very buggy, it would be more than enough to check the gyroscope if the phone is in mostly vertical position (upside down or vice versa), and when the proximity sensor shows almost 0 distance to something, the screen should stay off and the phone locked. That's what Pocket Lock provides a working solution for - I'm not the developer, so I'm not advertising it, but as somebody who had the same problem as you have in this subtopic, I bought the pro version and the "ghost unlocking" is now gone.

Thanks. And also to the previous poster about this app.
Once installed do you lose access to fingerprint unlock etc?

There's an alternative locking method to keep fingerprint unlocking, but seemingly it doesn't work under A12 - still, you can keep using the fingerprint reader until Pocket Lock has locked your device, which is better than call anybody from your pocket.
BTW, your pocket won't unlock your phone as stated in one of the previous posts, but an incoming call will turn your screen on, and if you're unlucky, on the virtual dial pad your pocket will enter numbers.
