[Q] Root Lollipop Without Downgrading? - Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I am wondering if it is possible for me to flash 4.4.4 kernel for my 5.0.2 firmware, root it with easy root, and then flash the 5.0.2 kernel back? Will it work? Or am I just gonna brick my device? If so, will it be a hard brick or soft brick?

[Q] After 4.3 Update new click sounds?

Hi everybody,
just updated to Android 4.3 on my Z1 and realised that the Sony click sounds seems to have changed?
Has anyone experienced the same problem?
I really liked the "Sony" click sound any idea how to get it back?
Thanks in advance for your replies
Yes, the click on 4.3 is different and many do not like it. The only one way to get that click back is to root your phone and replace with the old one from 4.2. The problem is you did not saved the wave file from 4.2 so somebody should post it for you and then you should replace it on your phone or you downgrade, root your phone, backup all what you need and update again. Anyway if you want root your .290 the only way is to downgrade with NUT method so you will do 2 things in 1.

Android 5.0.1

It showed up this morning for me on T-Mobile, Folsom, CA. but I didn't go for it yet.
No problems for me so far. Seems about the same as 5.0
Thanks!
Seems like only yesterday I re-rooted after going to 5.0.
My OTA failed. I have put stock recovery back but I am still rooted and have installed the custom LTE radios. Would one of the two be causing the problem?
Well, With 0 knowledge in the world of compiling and recompiling - can someone assist and build an flashable update to those who have closed bootloader but has TWRP recovery? (I've closed it in the past)..

One question why would you install TWRP and reclose the bootloader? That doesn't make scense.

Yes. Both will cause it to fail.
Flash the factory image manually (leave out the "-w" to keep your data), then re-root / flash radio if desired.

In the past I used to install custom roms. I've stopped but the TWRP was still on there.. and the locked bootloader is a mistake that iv'e made :/
well, got any clue what can I do without opening the bootloader once again?
you could root your phone and reopen the bootloader with an app called boot unlocker.
Long story short, I finally got the job done with Wugfresh Nexus Root Toolkit, what a breeze.
Any changelogs?
Is the upgrade worth?
Better than 5.0
rooting 5.0.1
Is the any difference in rooting 5.0.1 compared to 5.0?

5.0.2 is on the way.
OTA's should return to root if rooted.

This should be your device's matter.
Either reflash the same or try other radio.

[Q] Uninstall/Unroot Xperia Xposed EMERGENCY

I need to send my phone back to Sony because of severe battery issues.
I used Odin 3 to root, (just root nothing else, no unlocking, nothing)
But I did install Xperia Xposed/Xposed installer whatever, and I need it off!
How do I get rid of it so it looks like I'm running stock? Please help! My warranty expires in 2 weeks exactly!!!

You will need to reflash stock Rom with FlashTools.

Short answer, Yes.
Long answer, Yes but your phone will still be obviously rooted to those that would be handling your phone for warranty issues.
So best to just remove as stated above and then re-root when you get your phone back.
Really? Even if the bootloader was never unlocked? That's really odd.

Possible to go back to 4.4.4 from 6.0.1?

As the title says is that even possible for the Note 4 ? I know sounds crazy but I want to know if it is possible. If it is, how? Please help ::fingers-crossed:
With my 910F it was possible. Thank God! Marshmallow looks like ****.. Maybe it's smoother than kitkat but the look and battery time wasnt as good as with kitkat.
To your question : download a kitkat firmware and simply flash it with Odin. Done and easy.

I backuped (is that right or backed up? XD) my data and then I did a factory reset. Then I flashed the firmware via Odin.

Actually I just saved my whatsapp folder to ext. SD card. Then I did a reset via stock recovery. But now I use a custom recovery to perform full backups . But you can install this after you did your downgrade.
You can downgrade from android 6.0.1 to 4.4.4 just flash old bootloader for android 4.4.4 and modem then flash the rom.
here's a video but I don't know if it's for the quallcom cpu version of the note 4 (It's for the sm 910 t ) : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bRDSRKjGhUw
Tried flashing 4.4.4 yesterday .
My device is n910g .
First I flashed lollipop 5.0.1 , then left the device for booting up and it dint booted ,cause i hadn't factory resetted my device, so after a factory reset it did booted up.
Then i flashed 4.4.4 and factory reset the device and it booted up properly.
Battery life is really amazing .

Was told N910c can flash back to 5.1.1 via Odin.
Perhaps you can then flash back to 4.4.4 afterwards?

I have an N910G and have gone back and forth between MM and KK several times without any problems. No need to go through LP to downgrade. (No matter how often I try, I just can't get to like MM!) Anyway, all you need is right here:

Good luck! (I believe Exynos users are out of luck though...)

I used exactly the same firmware to downgrade from 6.0.1. And, of course a correct modem and bootloader. At first i flashed the modem and bootloader, using Odin 3.09, after reboot i pulled out the battery immediately. After putting back the battery, I switched the phone to download mode, and flashed the 4.4.4 firmware. Worked flawlessly. :good:

Back to stock with broken USB port

Hey there,
the USB port on my Note8 ist broken it doesnt recognize any sort of connection - with that working it wouldnt be a hassle for me to get back to stock
Someone recommended me to try flashfire, but im scared of bricking the device with this method since the latest version is from 2017
Is this really the only way it could work or is it possible to work with odin over wifi?
Greetings

Is your device rooted? Flash fire you have to be rooted. And haven’t messed with flashfire in years. So I would doubt it would work.
But yes your gonna need a working USB port to flash it back to stock there’s really no other way if flashfire is not an option.

I also posted in another forum (a german one) - and he said since I want to get back to stock bc of a warranty case I shouldnt bother me so much bc my hardware issues (broken usb / pixel errors) cannot be adressed to custom recovery / root
