Hello,
Just wondering if this is a known issue or if it is just me. But I am having problems with my backlight on my phone even though I do not have it on auto brightness the phone sometimes dims out and then the light will come back to full brightness sometimes but not all the time? is anybody else having these issues or know if this is a known issue?
There are some reports of a possible bug with auto brightness off.
I notice it dims when the screen is set to adaptive, but doesn't on basic.

Yes that's the exact bug I'm having... i dont like basic though looks crappy lol... hopefully they fix this soon
I guess my question is, is it a bug, or is that the design of the adaptive setting doing what it's supposed to, even with auto brightness off.

Before 2.2.1, there used to be a setting that would leave your screen always on while charging. Anyone know where that setting has gone, can't seem to find it anymore? I know there is a screen always on app on the market, but I'm hesitant to use it.

The screen changes - a cream tinit that goes on and off every few seconds. Most noticeable on white screens eg Google Reader. Does anyone else have this, and how do I fix it!!! It's so winding me up and lets down an otherwise amazing screen and device.
Try turning off automatic brightness (settings, screen) and test if issue is still there.

99% certain its the automatic brightness being set on...just untick the box in the display section of settings, that should also disable the tinting effect when your on Google and internet sites

Go to Settings>Display>and on the bottom you will see "Auto adjust screen power" turn that off and you wont get the cream tint
The power settings seem to be the culprit. So far, it seems much better. I'll report back if it reverts back to disco lights.
I'd recommend to update your phone if you havent done so yet. Check if same issues arise if they do, and you eally want the setting maybe send the unit back?

I'm using midnote 3.4, but it did the same on gingerbread too.
anybody know what app to use to light up the lower buttons when receiving a notification

There's an app called no led but as we've discovered, it prevents the fone from entering deep sleep and hammers the battery

It has been investigated here, but with limited success.
I use the linked one since it came out here without any problems. Works fine for me. It's a bit tricky to set up, but once done, it's great.
Is anybody else having this same issue. I can turn on auto brightness in the notification shade and minute or two later, if that long, it unchecks itself. Any ideas what is causing this?
I was having this issue, no idea what causes it. Factory reset solved it for me.

When it was Lollipop 5.0.1, It'd never happened before. As in the video (vimeo.com/135371515), after updating Lollipop 5.1, every time I turn on the screen, screen is dull for about 5 seconds then it becomes normal. I'm not sure if I describe it correctly or not, and I hope you guys can see the difference on the screen. It does not affect much in term of usage, but it's just annoying me. Does anyone know how to solve this problem?
Only way is to turn off adaptive brightness

Yeah, it works. Thanks
It'd never happened before when I turned on adaptive brightness on Lollipop 5.0.1.
Is it because of software or because my phone some how malfunction?

Yeah, its a Sony software issue. And you are not alone. A lot of users including myself are experiencing it.
I also have the same problem after the update but it only occurs from time to time. And interestingly, screen awakes very quickly sometimes after the update.
