anybody know what app to use to light up the lower buttons when receiving a notification

There's an app called no led but as we've discovered, it prevents the fone from entering deep sleep and hammers the battery

any others

It has been investigated here, but with limited success.
I use the linked one since it came out here without any problems. Works fine for me. It's a bit tricky to set up, but once done, it's great.

For some reason my nook running CM7 stable off of sdcard becomes unresponsive for what seems no reason. It still functions just fine I see the background moving and still receive email but all buttons and touch screen stop working.
Has anyone else experienced this or know of a fix or anything I can do?

Its called SoD. (Sleep of death) Common problem. Do a search and you will find many fixes. I use tasker to turn wifi on/off when screen is on/off.

I thought SOD was when the device wont wake up. Mine seems to "freeze" while i'm using it but everything continues to function just no button or touchscreen response.
Are you overclocked/undervolted? What are your settings?

Its just straight up CM7 have not changed anything.

The screen changes - a cream tinit that goes on and off every few seconds. Most noticeable on white screens eg Google Reader. Does anyone else have this, and how do I fix it!!! It's so winding me up and lets down an otherwise amazing screen and device.
Try turning off automatic brightness (settings, screen) and test if issue is still there.

99% certain its the automatic brightness being set on...just untick the box in the display section of settings, that should also disable the tinting effect when your on Google and internet sites

Go to Settings>Display>and on the bottom you will see "Auto adjust screen power" turn that off and you wont get the cream tint
The power settings seem to be the culprit. So far, it seems much better. I'll report back if it reverts back to disco lights.
I'd recommend to update your phone if you havent done so yet. Check if same issues arise if they do, and you eally want the setting maybe send the unit back?

I'm using midnote 3.4, but it did the same on gingerbread too.
Does anyone know what determines whether the softkeys vibrate on touch? Turning volume down to silent doesn't change anything but I've noticed that sometimes there is no vibration and I can't figure out the reason.
Sent from my Xperia Z using Tapatalk
There is an option to turn it off in the sound settings, vibrate on touch.

But there's been many times when I've not been near any settings for a while and I notice the soft keys not vibrating.
Sent from my Xperia Z using Tapatalk
I don't know if it's a software or hardware problem.can you try a factory reset?or repair the phone via pc companion.

Firstly I'll monitor exactly what I'm doing when it next happens. I'm not rooted or unlocked yet so I guess it's nothing I've done (unless it's an app, if that's possible)

Right, so it's been almost a week. Unfortunately, I'm still having problems with no obvious explanation.
I soft-bricked my phone a few days ago so I've completely reset it. I was under the impression that it was only softkeys and haptic feedback that was being lost but today I'm sure a couple of time I've received messages without vibration (phone was in my lap and I can see the screen turn on but felt nothing).
My friend on his One X told me he often loses softkey feedback and haptics but that a message always brings it back. So until today I was putting it down to Jellybean (there seems to be a lot of S3 users with same issues too). Some S3 user reported that turning battery saving off has brought back feedback but I've not used stamina or anything like that, might there be something enabled by default I want to get rid of?
I kinda want to install CM10.1 to test on 4.2 but I'd need unlocked bootloader and I'm not sure how Amazon feel about that.
The motor seems to be ok... It sounds like a Bee or some paper trapped but from what I read that's normal because it's a thin phone. It's loud too.
When using the Service Tests area it seems to work without fail, but I need to test that after it turns off.
I'm still having this issue and I'm almost certain it must be a hardware fault.
Am I right in thinking that if I run a vibration test in the service menu then no system or app settings should prevent it vibrating?
Sometimes it fails to vibrate even in that test.

When using the phone with 'Stamina Mode' switched on I got the message that the phone was kept awake because of 'Devices'. I went into my Pwer Management > Battery Usage, and to my surprise Devices is at the top of the list, it has used 19% of my battery. It has a red icon (round circle) with a 'Movies' pictogram in it. The information about Devices is the following:
Code:
CPU Total: 12m 58s
CPU Foreground: 0s
Keep awake: 2h 33m 48s
Data sent: 2.98MB
Data received: 9.30MB
When I open Settings > Apps > Running and look for 'Devices' I find three services: DlnaDmsService, PushDerviceImpl and UpnpServiceCp. I also find the com.sonyericsson.dlna service. Does anyone know why dlna is running on my phone, even when I'm not connected to WiFi? What could be causing the wake? I do not have dlna enabled, and I think 'Devices' is a strange name for an Android process, especially with the Movies icon.
TL;DR:
What is Devices, why iis it running when I'm not on WiFi, and Can I disable it permanently?
Did you use throw or media share?

I have used throw once on a Bravia TV, but I have turned media sharing off after that. This was about a week ago, and I have rebooted the phone at least two times since. My bluetooth headset has been connected for about an hour, and when it connects it is in the 'Throw' list. But is this a reason for the phone to use CPU wake time when WiFi AND Bluetooth aren't even connected?
Noticed mine was doing the same since yesterday over 45% battery useage for Devices.
I did work out how to use Throw yesterday, cant seem to get it to stop now
Just done a power volume+ reset and see if it clears up
If you refresh batter stats - the "Devices" changes to com.sonyericsson.dlna for a fraction of a second
Yup this is what kills Stamina Mode if you use throw you're phone will be like this for a while. Even when you turn all the auto stuff off it will happen again when you next throw. Hopefully it will be fixed, if not then it settles down again after a day or two.

But does using a Bluetooth Stereo Headset qualify as 'using Throw'? Because it shouldn't have anything to do with dlna, right?
It has happened to me once when I've used Walkman but I haven't managed to replicate it, but Throw it has done it to me repeatedly.

Hmm... interesting. Thanks for sharing your insights! Tomorrow I'll disable the 'Devices' application and see what it means in terms of battery usage and loss of functionality. I'll report back at the end of the day.
Today I disabled Devices. Bluetooth worked as it should, and my battery is at about 56%. I guess it's okay if you don't use DLNA. Of course this is all subjective, but I do think that my battery is lasting a little bit longer. If you're not using throw I recommend disabling Devices. You can disable it in Settings > Apps > All > Devices > Disable.
Stop Throw
So, anyone knows how to totally stop Throw???
No matter what I try, I keep getting the Throw symbol in my status bar.
No and I would like to know this. Seems like when you load it once, you're stuck with it (unless you disable).

Helow!
If i use LEDFlash on my phone as a flashlight, after minute and half LED is so hot that you can't put finger on it!!!
I've never noticed so hot LED on any phone. Is this normal for P880 or I must send it on service?
It's 'relatively' normal I guess. I had this with the flashlight app I used on stock too, but when I just tested my current one (the one embedded in NamelessROM) it didn't seem to get so hot. Might be due to the app assigning too much voltage to the LED. Try another app! It's by no means a reason to get your device serviced.
