I am about to re-partition my SD card. I currently have Fat32 and Ext3, and according to some posts in the development section, having a swap partition on your SD will speed up your phone, especially when u r using Hero ROM. Is that correct ? If I do so, do I have to reflash the FW ?
Thanks in advance. Hope you guys won't get annoyed with those noob's questions of mine
I don't know how people can run Hero without swap, it does help a lot. 64mb is a good size, anything bigger is too big imo.
No, you shouldn't have to reflash.
i asked a similar question not too long ago. all you have to do is backup your ext3 partition if your running apps 2 sd and want to keep your apps without having to install them all again. then you just repartition your card with the swap partition included and then restore your ext3 partition. hope this helps
I want to install RunnymedeMod and it requires that I have a 1GB Ext4 partition. I have an 8GB SD Card...
I use Minitool Partition to create a 1GB Ext4. I apply the changes... I take the ROM zip file and put it on my SD card. When I go to the Recovery to install it, I go to chose the Zip file and it isn't there...
I boot my phone back up and open my SD card's file on my PC. When I look, the partition is no longer there and the ROM zip isn't on my SD anymore... it is getting frustrating.
Any helpful ideas?
The reason you can't see the 1GB partition is because Windows cannot read ext partitions. I suggest you install 4ext recovery, then create an ext2 partition and then upgrade it to ext3 and the lastly ext4. This is your best bet to make sure it's partitioned correctly and smoothly.

So I have touch 4Ext Recovery... when I want to create partitions it says First Ext and Second Ext and then Swap size.
I have an 8GB SD and I need a 1GB Ext4 partition.

First ext: 1gb, skip second ext and skip swap. Then upgrade to ext3 and lastly ext4.

you can use any good partition manager and delete the partition you have created. And re-create the one with smaller size
I have the same problem.....deleting the partition with minitool partition didn't work .......I lost the partition space altogether ....had to struggle to restore the space

Simplest way is to use "MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition"
With this app you can create/resize partition.
Hope this helps
Thank You Guys
Thank You All
i just formated using phone internal feature and again formated using CWM.
then made a smaller partition. Its working good fast then before
Hi
I recently formated and partioned my external SD Card. I made 2 partitions one FAT32 and a Linux Swap.
As soon as I insert the Card my phone gets a bootloop.
Does anybody know why?
If I format the whole Card with FAT32 it works
Why does the Linux Swap Partition occur a Bootloop?
Cause the Semaphore kernel doesn't support Swap by default
Sorry didn't update my Signature...
I'm on Hellybean 19.09.2013 and Hellybean should support Swap I thought?
Do I have to set my Linux Swap Partition to Primary?
In the tutorial I watched it wasn't set as primary...
Edit:
Solved it
My Guide was wrong you really have to set both partitions as primary
