I see that I probably should have added the phrase "That is my opinion" to my post. :silly:
My logic is that the adaptive fast charger originally came with the GS6 and thus it's designed by the same OEM for that exact model. You could argue that the adaptive charger that came with the Note 4 should be the same one. It actually is not. The Note 4's is based on Qualcomm's Quick Charge 2.0 technology, while the GS6's is a different standard, mainly because it's not rocking a Qualcomm chip anymore.
My point is that it's definitely a safer bet to use accessories that came with the phone or claim compatibility with it. I'm not stopping anyone from doing what they want with their chargers, but I would just caution you to do a bit of research first to make sure what you're doing will not damage that $800 marvel we put our money in.
Just my opinion, of course. :good:

I disagree. Fast charge is fast charge, homie. Plug your N6 or S6 charger into your S6 and the same thing happens.

This is just my opinion if you have an s6 charger why would you use one from another phone?

Non removable battery

I'm surprised to see not much talk of this, as for me it's the biggest hang up with this awesome device (second is no sd slot). I find it extremely handy to have a removable battery because 1) I don't have to worry about being super careful about how I treat the battery as replacements are usually fairly cheap and 2) it opens up the possibility of larger 3rd party batteries. What's everyone's thoughts on this?
Sent from my 3VO
Oh there has been PLENTY of talk about this.
That's the trend, removal batteries are going bye bye. Whether it's removal or not, the important question is whether or not it is possible at all to get at the battery slot. Have to watch a few tear down videos.
The iPhone 4/4s didn't have a removable battery either per say... yet you could easily do it yourself.
doesnt bother me.. i think the phone pricing already gave us justice
this is a make or break issue for me aswell. Will the wireless charging orb hold a charge so I can put it in my bag when im travelling and connect it with n4 without the need for any sockets?
if not are there any third party softwares that can allow something small which can recharge battery without any connections?
thanks

No, the inductive charger must be plugged into the wall. The only benefit of an inductive charger is not having to make any physical connection to the phone every time you charge.

Apple boasts about new Lightning connector. Google took it to the next step - no.cable.
Hands down.
lighting port was just such a terrible idea. -_-
We will have to see what real life battery life is like.
2100mha battery does not last a full day now. I tend to swap if I'm using my phone during work and need to use it at night.
Nothing mentioned in all the fancy features about awesome battery life....
Although not being able to remove the battery is annoying, I say introducing inductive charging to the Nexus line makes up for some of it.
too bad you still have to plug it in to transfer info to a computer. For that, I like the lightning port. Micro usb is annoying and so so fragile.

I know what you mean, but for some files depending on the size of them I have started to use bluetooth file transferring.
This is a huge concern for me as well. Spare batteries are cheap and you never have to worry about your phone dying.
However, the price is too good to pass up considering how it looks and the amazing specs it has.
Not to mention, on jellybean, my phones battery life has been phenomenal.

Best solution for batteries that die out during the day's usage? Buy a second Nexus 4! You know, since they're so cheap and all.
No battery removable battery and no sd card tells me hmmm maybe but its still designed by LG. Thats what i really hate. But at that price. I may buy it and use it as an ipod touch lol

Magnetic charging strips

The S5 is a great looking phone, spec wise. Nothing is dramatically different over the S4, other than Waterproof, fingerprint and a couple other sensors. But everything is an upgrade in some way.
Except for ease of charging.
Yes, for those of us who like to get everything done with one click, one hand, one motion, one something.... the S5 has taken a step back in docking/charging capabilities.
While the USB 3.0 offers *faster* charging to some degree, we are now obstructed from ease of use by the very thing that makes this phone *really special* and unique. Waterproofing. Yep, those dang "doors" that seal up the USB port have added "one more" step. This time, one more step in the form of attaching a USB cable or docking our phones. I myself paid $75 for a killer dock that gave me one-handed, one motion docking that offers charging. I just plop my S4 phone down and it's secured and charging right away (Craigsdocks Dock).
Most of you probably don't care about this "one extra step". So those are the folks who will step into this thread and participate the most, because they don't care and think it's stupid that other people care. lol
But for you "one step" people out there like myself, who are avidly into Tasker automation, modifying the Quick Settings panel and want the fastest launcher with coolest widgets possible.... YOU will understand what I'm talking about when I say the S6 *NEEDS* to have Magnetic Docking Pins.
And I cannot believe Samsung has not only locked the bootloader on us USA citizens, but they have also not given this phone some semblance of ease of use when it comes to Car Docks and other types of docks, for everyone in the entire world.
Ugh, shame on you, Samsung. Your lack of foresight is amazing. Because we all know the S6 will have Magnetic Docking Pins and thus, every single one of us will pay to upgrade our phones once again, next year.
Oh, you might ask why Magnetic Pin charging is better than wireless charging?
Well that's because it charges twice as fast. Which is very important when your screen is set to 100% brightness, Pandora is streaming over Bluetooth and GPS is wildly trying to re-route me every few seconds. All while I'm on a 25% charge and have no plans to be anywhere near a charger for the next 24 hours after I get out of my car.
I only use the USB 3.0 port when I really need to charge my phone very fast. Otherwise, I always use wireless charging.
Maybe the phone isn't for you..... The beauty of Android is that you can get whatever manufacturer you like to sort your hardware needs.

I would probably say no. From my understanding, fast charging is there because the charger packaged with the phone supports a much higher output and the phone can take advantage of it. The only way to get that same speed through a wireless charger would be to find one that matches the output of the stock wall charger.

No. Many are only 1 amp output. It's already warm to the touch with 1amp, if it was to suck down 2+ amps it would probably blow up!!! ...Just kidding.
I think the fast charger is 2 amps
The fast charging is so amazing, it would be hard to go back to slower charging...with or without wires. [emoji6]
fast charging is 9v when below 50%. As far as i know all Qi chargers are 5v.
I doubt it supports fast charging or that you can find one that does.

I came across an old review that said it put out 1A.

I wouldn't skimp out on a cheap wireless charger. being that wireless charging puts a bit of wear & tear on the battery i would opt for a better one that at least give you piece of mind. the problem with the cheap chargers is they can create unnecessary wasted energy that will create more heat on your device/battery. more heat = degrade battery faster.
here is one i would recommended that doesn't break the bank:
RAVPower Wireless Charging Pad: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00PY1YBA0/
outputs at 5v @ 1A.
it's $19 and great reviews. protect your investment and spend a few bucks more for a more reliable charger.

yes, and it's discontinued which is why it's so cheap,. my local Radioshack had them for $8.
the Samsung will work with either charging technology, but Qi charging seems to be the winning "standard" for wireless charging, almost all newer phones are more likely to come with Qi compatibility rather than PMA. so while the PMA might work fine, chances are your $8.99 discontinued charger might not be compatible with your next phone. Nexus 6/5/4/7, Sony Xperia Z3V, Motorola, etc All use Qi. i would much rather spend $10 more and at least i know it will work with my future phones since i upgrade almost yearly..
IT WORKS!!! I'll test to see how long it takes to get to fully charged once I drop this bad boy down to 50%.

Well how well did it do? Does it get very hot after wirelessly charging for a while?
I bought two of these and just tested one out. Seems to work great and actually charged my phone faster than I thought it would. One huge drawback for me that I'm not sure is a problem with Qi is that it would not charge with my case on. I think PMA requires the magnet portion to catch in order to work and that's going to be difficult with any case.

Google Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P - Defective stock charger issues

Hey guys,
Did somebody else watched this? Apparently the Nexus 5x and 6P USB-C standard chargers are not safe!! I am really worried because I'm using mine in my daily basis to charge my N5X and my wife LG G5.
Can somebody corroborate this tests?

Yes, watch it even before xda portal post. Benson has mentioned Nathan K. and Gtrusted related works on G+ before.
Part 2 is here too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VBcjlGu4uLo
The chargers just being dumb and will provide power output whenever a circuit is completed.
Even the other side doesnt told it to, like a dog bite into the cable.
Or the other side is a usb power host too and doesnt told it to provide output [this is BAD], just don't try it.
What you need to know is don't connect it to others usb power host.
Then it should be fine. Meanwhile, we waited for Google's proper response or recall.
I have that charger... Is there a cheap way to check it for any faults?

That's the way it was designed, but it isn't the charger that is controlling that. The phone is the one controlling how much current it pulls, subject to what the charger conveys it can handle or some default rules if that information is not explicitly available.
