Ho all,
after upgrading to the last 1.29 OTA I'm facing two main problems:
1. The device becames hot after a little usage, like browsing or whatever I do.
2. The battery performance is worst than before.
Did anybody incurred in to the same issues after OTA?
Suggestions?
Reset? Check your music, could be a wakelock.

I haven't experienced any noticeable difference heat or battery performance wise although i only updated yesterday. Will keep an eye on it.
No problems here. I think it got a little faster still. Or maybe placebo.

Yes, no noticeable issues here after update, seems a bit faster even, but could be my imagination. My phone heated up quite quickly already before update, and it's still the case.

While I received my One with the 1.29 update already on it, my device gets hot after only 10-30 minutes of use and my battery life is around 4 hours of screen on time; I'm not sure how that falls in line with other One's? I almost made my own thread earlier but decided to wait it how and observe a bit longer
No problems to report with mine after update. A little bit better than before i might add.

Same here mate, I follow the battery thread, seems most of people share the same battery life with you and me, if you want longer you will have to sort those wake locks out.

Part of the reason I wanted to make my own thread, or at least comment on one like this was about those wake locks. For example, in gsam google maps has around 4400 wake locks, Facebook has 800, Chrome around 300. Are those normal? I know in those various other threads they were talking about the media server wake locks, but when I check those I only had around 40-50 (having used the play music app only twice) so I'm not sure what is considered "normal" to each app/activity/service. If I may, does your One get warm/hot just as quickly as mine and the OP's? Perhaps the "perceivable" heat of the phone is higher due to it being made from metal, but is not actually something to be concerned about. System Monitor reports my battery as being in the 37C-40C range after the 30 minutes or so of usage.
I have had no problems with mine after the update. It did get warm in use before the update.
Zdbox usually reports an idle temp of 20c+ and when playing games it gets to about 37c.

A factory reset seems to have solved the problems. I will keep on testing to be sure about it.
Did any of the users find the phone lag at any point of time? Please help me out with this. I have heard that the phone to lags, is it true? Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

oh god no, mine is fast as lightening, I am still amazed (after having it for more than one month) at how fast it is. Switching between apps is instant, browsing the gallery the same.

I was reluctant to believe that it was laggy. Since it uses the same chipset as the nexus 4 or a better version. How is the heavy games performing? I know there plenty of videos regarding gaming reviews. But I just want a views from a user of xperia zr. Since its a little on the costly side for me and want to make sure it's worth it.
not so laggy . my zr is smooth when running apps . a little bit laggy when play heavy games ,but not so obvious . this is a great phone with a little cost :fingers-crossed:

You mean the Game lags are not much noticeable? I would be installing Asphalt 7, if I get this phone. How would xperia zr stand up to nexus 4 in performance section?
Mine is laggy, not all the time but if you keep screen on for about 10 minutes and launching apps after apps, it gets really laggy especially on Chrome. I even have display issues where black screen are displayed on certain apps for awhile before showing up. Not sure if it's because I have too many sync data and background apps going on but I don't understand how anyone can use a smartphone these days without a minimum of such things going on

That sounds quite bad, mine definitely does not do that. However, I have to say Chrome is laggy on any kind of phone, I would never use it, especially because of that. I use Dolphin these days.
It will drop frames in heavy gaming because of overheat. it works well in gaming as long as you can keep it cool.
there is not lag in daily uses.
even Asphalt 8 can run smoothly on XZR
Well the phone is kinda brand new so.. in this price range its expected to be smooth and fast no doubt about it. The 2 gigs and 1.5 quad boy do the job.Have the phone from more than a month and I can tell you if u have the money go for it. the heating is abit ****ty when you play heavy games more than 30 min but every smatphone heats so..its not a big deal

Other than in the lockscreen, any lag in other area too?
I have been using my zr for about two months. Lag is virtually non existent. I am happy with the performance. Dead trigger plays very well. Only problems are heating during heavy gameplay like deadtrigger or using chrome and those flaps covering headphone jack and usb port.

I think it's just some games that just resource hogging and seems to cause those delay and black screens.
Sony roms are the most laggy roms ever (Specially if you have many background app running!) So expect some lag when connecting to internet
Not laggy. try factory reset.
Hi Guys,

Please help me out guys. I have put the flip cover which Sony has given as free product along with the purchase of this mobile. Any kind of reply is very much appreciated. Thanks for the quick reply bro.. I have Updated with the latest firmware dude. Still my mobile is getting heated up. I have seen many reviews and videos before buying this mobile. But none of the reviews specified about this heating thing. If mobile started heating just for 5 mins of gaming, i am wondering how guys are playing high end games and completing it.

Its pretty much something you get used to after a while. Also this will help you getting through the harsh winter !!! The highest temperature that i got was 48 degrees C.Pretty hot i know but you have a powerfull processor and graphics that drain the battery thus increasing its temp.
Use CPU Z https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cpuid.cpu_z to monitor your battery temperature if you like.
So you mean to say this is not actually a big problem to worry about? Or do I need to take my mobile to the service centre for a quick check? Please suggest me.
Can't make any guarantees but it's generally not a problem unless it's getting hot when you're doing nothing. If the device cools to between 20 and 25 degrees once you've stopped activity there's nothing wrong.

ditto,
havent seen a single phone that doesn't get Hot when playing games, especially ones which use the GPU/CPU a lot
on the whole it stays pretty cool under normal use compared to other phones.

Right my friend has a Huawei phone and it was steaming hot today after a game session. Mine top temp was 48.5 C
As said above if cold down afterwards your device is ok.

Thanks a lot guys for your replies! I was actually worried about this heating and thought of approaching the nearby service center. Now i am ok with this! Thanks once again..
Can anyone let me know the below temperatures for Xperia T CPU running stock rom is ok or not ok?
idle : upto 36C ish
on slight use : above 40C
on longer usage of basic apps such as whatsapp, viber, facebook: between 40 to 50C
browser: around 55C (browsing xda took it over 60C)
repost
CPU temperature is not so important, it will always be that "hot" while being on use. Battery temperature is the thing that should be important to you.
I think these values are ok, as long as your phone does not shutdown unexpectedely (with the aproppriate "Shutting down" mesaage box) - that usualy means that the temperature of both CPU and the battery is way too high and any other operations may result in their permanent damage. If you don't experience such situations then I think you shouldn't be worried about anything
Anyway I have to tell you that IMHO this phone has, in fact, some "problems" with overheating or at least with pretty high temperature than it should be normally. But I don't care, after two years of really heavy usage - it still works and it never disappointed me, I hope you won't be too
Thermal throttling will start at around 65-70C, at 80 the phone will shutdown.
These functions are hard coded in kernel, so dont worry.

Battery temperature hasn't gone beyond 40C if I remember. Only started to monitor recently. I've been using this just over two years too and never felt any heat when using it for normal usage on 4.0 and 4.1 stock roms.
Only felt it on 4.3 and downgrading after trying 4.3 uk rom 2nd time, even 4.1 now produces noticeable heat which is what's bugging me. Really regret for upgrading to 4.3 for a 2nd time :'(
The initial downgrade was done through SEUS as 4.3 wasn't released for UK then and had the blue triangle icon on some bootups but no other issue or heat.
Which rom do you use now on your device?
40C is really low value for the battery. Trust me, you really shouldn't be worried about the temperature
I was using the newest build of OmniROM until yesterday. I flashed the newest release of CM11 and I'm not disappointed.
ok, thanks. I am trying the Omega v2 rom since yesterday, but it seems to make it much warmer so might head back to 4.1

thanks, just installed the app. It seems to be 'ondemand' by default. :/
Just finished setting up 4.1 stock rom, and a little bit of usage heats it up very quickly. With the heat, battery level goes down very quickly too

Well it happens on my Xperia V too no matter what I do, but since I've been using a silicone case I don't notice it anymore and it doesn't burn my fingers like it used to. Maybe try changing governor to interactive...I'm using it now and the phone seems pretty cold

I've been using a TPU gel case since I bought the phone... and never felt any heat (apart from when trying out 4.3 but yet less than present level of heat). So seems it took 2 years for the phone to start this 'heating up' mode. I am trying to understand if it is a software issue or something to do with hardware.

I've read that almost all Sony phones heat up so it's probably a hardware issue...but since rooting and uninstalling all bloatware and disabling some of the google's services, I noticed my phone doesn't really heat up that much anymore.

Even I have rooted and disabled almost all the bloatware including some google apps (actually removed them from the system/app folder itself). This was how it was prior to 4.3 testing and had no issues. Only heated slightly for a YouTube video or so. Removed the same list of items this time around as well, but for even apps like whatsapp it heats..so something is definitely wrong... it remains cool on idle, hence not a background service that causes it.

that's exactly how mine was
wondering if there is some clash in the internal memory area.. (which happened when using flashtool to downgrade... from 4.3 this time). Before used SUS as 4.3 wasn't released for UK and it repaired to 4.1
When i play CoC with data mobile the temperature become very high...this can damage any hardware components?
Because i changed the battery two times for random reboots and i think that some components are broken

False. It´s even faster.
Same for me.
5.0.1 doubled my speed !
After a new flash it seems really faster
It's no different for me.
It now butters my toast.
My only problem is with battery. 60% in 3 hours without touch the smartphone.
its smooth as butter man here man, i would say even better reception with new radio
It seems like any update has a random chance of causing issues such as slow downs. Try a factory reset.

Feels faster for me too. I noticed it immediately.
5.0.1 seems to bring the micro stutters (music buzzing) that are more often now than on 5.0. I had before a Nexus 4 and the stuttering was really bad. Had flashed the factory image of 5.0.1 and the stuttering is worse than ever. Went back and forth between 5.0 and 5.0.1 just to test behavior, but regarding this issue, 5.0.1 is much worse. Reverted back to 5.0 as it is more stable. And kernel build date, 20 October, really? (as there seemed to be slight changes between 5.0 and 5.0.1)
This discussion is pretty useless TBH. It depends on the user mostly. Someone's got 50 apps installed and uses the phone just for phone calls, someone else may have 250 apps installed and uses the phone for all kind of things. Which means you can't really compare it.
