The audio jack broke so I sent it for warranty repair to get replaced, which they did. I got the phone back yesterday, couldn't boot it up, completely dead. Stuck it in the charger, red led, low battery charging icon goes on. Few seconds later it goes all dark, then shows the red light and the battery icon again and repeats forever. It sat like that for the past 20 hours with no change. I tried the volume up power button combo, nothing. I pressed the yellow button next to SIM card and 3 vibrates (only worked when it was connected to the charger), then we're back to the same red light charging icon deal. This time I could take the charger off and the low battery icon would display afterwards too, though. After that the volume up power button combo worked and 3 vibrates but the same red light battery icon thing persists.
Tried connecting it to a PC as well, before the resetting business it did absolutely nothing. After, windows says the phone has been connected, the phone displays green light for a fraction of a second, then changes red and it's just dark after that. PC Companion does not recognize the phone.
Do I just send it right back for another repair or what?
What was the point of the repair? :|

Yes, I would say so. I had a "sudden death" problem with mine not long ago. Sent it to Sony and they replaced the battery.
Same thing happened to mine, change the battery would fix this?

Yes
Do we have a more comprehensive thread on this "sudden death" / wont boot / wont charge issue?
I've added some notes / questions on page 34 of the help thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/help/sony-xperia-z3-help-thread-t3164306/page34
NB will charge if you first remove and externally charge the battery
Then with Z3 on charge, connect the battery, will get orange or green led and charging led display. But still wont boot

It looks like my Tytn II might be bricked... I have searched and searched and can not find any info on this. The phone will not turn on. I know the battery is dead, but it should have the power to try to boot. In fact, I have not used it in a while and I just tryed to boot it, it got to the starting screen, then the windows loading screen, and then I walked away for a few minutes and came back it and it was a black screen. Tried to turn on again and it did not power up. Upon plugging it into the charger, I get a solid red light on the top. When I remove the battery from the phone as the charger is connected the LED immediately changes to solid orange, and the blue led next to it comes on as well. When I disconnect the charger all the LEDs go off (obviously because theres no battery) and when i put the battery back in the phone i get a dim red light.
is the phone bricked? im thinking it might have slight water damage but it has been like 2 weeks since then so it should have dryed up i assume. tried to reset a few times with the little reset button next to the charger port, nothing. is it possible the battery may just be done for? any help or suggestions would be great. thanks.
I had that isue but i just leaved the phone on charger and everything came back to normal It's still working very well. But, i cant remember how i get into that situation but i surely know that i saw red light on top .
thanks, now that its been on the charger for a while i now get an orange LED. i will let it charge for a while and see if it awakens after almost 3 weeks of utter deadness.
Try waking it while on charge itslef.

just tried and it got to the very first boot screen and then went black and the orange and blue LEDs stayed on. tried to reset, no luck. unplugged charger, still LEDs stayed on. so then I took the battery out, all LEDs went out, plugged it back in and now i get the same red LED again.
update: now i get a orange LED as its plugged into the charger, but when i try to turn it on it gives the first boot screen for like 3 or 4 seconds then turns off...
I am getting exactly the same problem?
I tried to install android - got it working, came on a few times - then just totally died - It showt he HTC boot logo, but then just turns off.
Does anyone have any ideas.
does your computer see it when plugged in via usb?
perhaps this will help? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=358136
oh and also you have tried to enter the bootloader mode right?
I've had this issue, millions of times. What I do when I have problems like this (and problems like when I turn it on, it says the battery is low when it isnt, and when you connect your charger/USB, it dies on you)
Try removing and putting the battery back on.
so in simple words
charge the battery first (dont bother trying to turn it on)
and then remove the charger (this plays a big role)
take out the battery, put it back in, hope it works.
The same thing just happened to me, I thought it was toast. I would get the red light when I plugged into the charger, and after a few minutes it would turn to orange. I tried to turn it on then, and it would start to boot up, then shut off a few seconds later. This happened a few times. I just left it plugged in overnight, and when I woke up it was on! Only problem I've noticed is the orange LED is always on, but I can live with that
Hi i have a sony xperia z that just doesn't want to power on when it's plugged into the charge the red led appears however that red led goes off after it's been in the charge in around half an hour of it charging it doesn't get recognised by the pc by flashtool or sus or pc companion not any hard reset or any of that work such as vol up + power and vol down + power or vol up + plugging usb in even if i hold the buttons for around 5 minute nothing happens, this phone isn't water damaged as all the indicators are white
Connect to pc's usb and leave it for some times.
And maybe you can explain more what you was doing before it happens like this.
i have connected to the pc and i also left it for more then an hour just when i first connect it to the pc it has a red led but later on that red led comes off and i honestly don't know i bought this phone in this state
I had the phone connected to the pc and that red led went off for a bit then it came back on
Are you using the original charger?
Sent from my C6603 using xda premium
yes i tried multiple chargers aswell
i heard about dead xperias without reasons(in most of cases they turned off the phone and it never turn on again) maybe is better if you take it to a centre
Could it be the battery by any chance
bump
Help?
hold down the volume up and power button for 10 seconds, it reboots the phone
let me no if it works
Try what Andy194 said. Falling that try speaking to Sony themselves. Mine did that and they offered me a warranty replacement. Luckily the problem solved itself. As I was about to put it back in its box and send it off, it suddenly booted up fine, on its own.

My Z refused to charge when it was on 1%, as if its conntact with usb cable is not working well, happened once already but it returned to normal. So I decided to turn it off as it would turn itself off anyway. Plugged it in, but it didn't work. Used my Arc's cable and the red led light came up. I waited a bit for the phone to boot up to get to the charging animation, but nothing happened so I plugged it out and to my surprise the red light didn't go off and I can't do anything to turn it on. The phone is just rooted to 4.2.2, BL is locked.

Edit: left it plugged in my laptop and after 15 minutes or so it powered up. Yay T-T

You might wanna try another usb cable or another charger. Just in case one of them is broken. I had that a while ago and discovered that it was my cable. Good luck,
I sometimes have the same issue. I wake up in the morning just to find out that my HTC one hasn't charged although the charger is connected and the led is red.
Try this:
Try resetting the charging mode like this:
1. Turn phone OFF
2. Let charge for AT LEAST 10mins even if it doesn't look like it's charging
3. Press and hold POWER + VOL UP + VOL DOWN for AT LEAST 2mins. Anything less will not reset the charge mode.
4. After 2mins release the buttons and the phone should boot as normal.
re
sry guzzz ....nothing is working ...only red blinking light and after sometime a fade light battery icon comes n light becomes solid but it don't turn on thn......and after sometime blinking start again.....
Actually you phone's battery went down to the lowest level. You need to charge it for more than 4hrs.
When my ph switches off due to low battery and stays off for long time, then when i plugs charger, red led starts blinking for some time. After that it goes solid

So, do 1 thing. Take a transparent plastic box and pour rice in it and put ur phone in that box in that way so that your phone is covered by rice from all sides. Close the box from the top tightly.
Stay the phone in it for overnight. Next morning, take out your phone and plug the charger and check.
Actually, i read on gsmarena that water damaged phone can easily restore with the help of rice because rice soaks the water from phone.

Or put Rice in a plastic bag with Phone and seal the bag works too

Here's how I fixed my phone with the same issue after I left mine outside in the rain. I tried this:
No luck here. So finally I did this.
1. Took back cover off very carefully.
2. Unscrew battery screws from motherboard. There's only 2
3.. cleaned all connectors from battery.
4. Screwed it back together.
Now my battery charges correctly.
Recalibrated battery. So far all is good.

My z3 compact will not boot up. Trying to hold the power button will not start up the phone, I then plugged in the charger for it to charge and it is constantly blinking a red light. I left it to charge for a while (about 1-2 hours) without any disruption and when I tried to hold the power button to boot it up again with the charger still on it I get this picture of a low battery.
I have tried the method of taping the power button down while having it charge to try to boot up the phone, but that does not seem to work? Any suggestions on what I should do? also I do not have warranty on the phone.
Check the indicator located in the bottom flap (where your sim card is). If its not white then water came in your device. If the indicator is white then try connecting your phone to pc and if the pc recognized it than you may be able to repair your phone with pc companion

It looks like sudden death.
Take a look at this thread at the sony forum.

Dear, with the Companion tool you can recover it.
Flashing Red Light ONLY when charging, phone will also not boot up
I i had the same issue these past few days, and i searched almost every part of the internet to find a solution for this problem. Some solutions are so complicated that only technicians only understands, did all the steps on hard reset and etc. I also tried using xperia companion but it didn't work for me at first. my batt died when it was 40% more or less so i assumed that it has battery when it died, as i said earlier i tried using xperia companion but it failed for me. fortunately for me i had an extra xperia z3 so i decided to use the batt of the functioning xperia to my broken xperia z3 that has 100% battery, then i tried using the same method softwre repair on my phone, after a few hours it WORKED FOR ME. I tried opening it and its back to normal.
I hope it worked for you guys, i just wanted to share this because i didn't find any working solutions on the internet.
i had same problem with my z1c is the battery very low (during boot the battery also when plugged isn't in charge) i've solved this with orrible manual charging the battery with 5V directly on battery pins but now it works!
Hi,
After many years of enjoying this magnificent phone the disaster came.
The phone discharged overnight and switched off. In the morning I had to send some texts, so plugged the wall charger into USB socked (a weak one ~500mA), after few moments a charging icon appeared and stated that battery has 1%. Ok, I really had to send those messages: I've pressed the power button and phone started to boot.
Sony logo: OK, purple wave, OK...
After 10-20 seconds it suddenly switched of, red LED started to blink.
I thought: OK, system startup needs a lot of power, maybe a charger is too week to keep up.
So I left phone for few more minutes to charge, but without success.
That was the last time I saw screen was on.
Phone is a C6903, running on a stock, rooted 14.6.A.1.236 with the recent XZRecovery.
Bootloader has been unlocked.
For the moment I've tried everything but opening back and doing the testport-trick.
When I connect the power only red led blinks (I left the phone charging overnight, no change).
When I try to enter flash mode: nothing happens but red blinking light.
When I try to start phone nothing happens at all.
But there is still hope:
I connected the phone to 2A charger using a magnetic cable.
Then I've connected normal USB cable to my PC, strange thing started to happen:
When I pressed volume Up (even after few minutes of connecting power+usb) the phone suddenly jumped to fastboot mode (blue led, it was discovered by PC, fastboot terminal was functional)
When I press power button, phone vibrates for a second, then the led pattern changes to: 1s red followed by 0.1s green, then long red, then it repeats...
I'm still unable to enter any recovery nor flashmode...
I'd really appreciate any help, have you got any ideas left how can I revive my phone?

Hi, this just happened to me, my phone has been dead for over 4 weeks with just the red led blinking. i tried the test point thing with no success at that point I gave up but last week i decided to get a new genuine battery and it worked it booted up. Your battery is just completely dead thats why it won't boot up!

Yup! That was it (at least I think so, I don't have new battery yet)
The Al part of positive battery terminal was broken: I have no idea why, maybe because of age, oxidation and high currents that were drained from this LiPo cell...
Anyway I've managed to temporarily join two broken Al parts, kernel and recovery booted successfully.
Now I need to wait for a replacement battery.
Phone is alive again, thanks tilakpatel for help!
But the magnetic cable trick might be useful in other hardbrick cases: just connect magnetic charger, connect normal USB cable to PC and hold volUp. Phone should be able to enter fastboot even with completely drained battery...
