Hey guys, was hoping you could help me with this. I have the I537 and tried updating OTA through AT&T, but when I started to install it got to 27% and told me it failed to install before rebooting. This happened twice. I have also attempted to update via Kies, but it keeps saying my software is up to date when it obviously is not. I have erased all data and wiped the phone, and have still gotten the same problem. I was rooted via TowelRoot, but lost the root after an OTA update, and root checker, as well as SuperSU, both say I do not have root access. I should also mention that I have NH3 in my baseband. Can anybody help me please? My mother's phone updated without issue, and she was never rooted. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
I think you had some thing wrong in your system because of rooted this why got faided update..do fuctry reset and Use Odin flash Ne3 and check the update again...

As said before, I have already factory reset the device. However, could you inform me on how I would flash Ne3 with odin? Will it brick my phone?
I flashed my phone last week with safetrap form Ne3 to nH3 I had something wrong then Im back to ne3 again with Odin successful

I'm unsure how to proceed from here; the post you referenced implies I am still rooted; which in this case, I am not, my phone just thinks I am. Also, I do not know how to use Odin or what I flash on it.

Download this. Extract all four files and load them with Odin 3.09 (attached to this post). Connect your phone to your PC in download mode (power it off, then turn it back on while holding the volume down button). Flash NE3 (should look like below):

Then root with towelroot (one click root app, couldn't be easier) and follow this thread's instructions to get onto lollipop. Point being, skip over NH3, don't use Kies, Odin is your best friend (fixes all my mistakes both intentional and accidental) and read this thread for more detailed instructions on using Odin to flash firmware
Thank you so much, you are the best. I will try this later this afternoon and report back to you. One question though, this won't affect my sim card or data or anything, will it?

Since he just factory reset a stock rom, it isnt set to debugging mode, so adb isnt an option...
Good point...hmmmmmm

Because you cant push a launcher or get into any settings menu, my only suggestion would be to flash a new rom. And assuming that the rom you just flashed (being completely stock), you wont have the 3 button combo although I suggest you try it. (Im not sure about the combos for 2.2 roms).
If you cant get into recovery/download through any method, my next suggestion is to buy/build a JIG and force your device into download mode, by which you can use ODIN to flash a rom.
You can make a jig for about a dollar or buy one for about 10. (Best purchase i made). Just take a look around the forums for more info on this.
yes i can get into where it says reboot system now, reinstall packages delete data ya know. not much experiance
and i can still get the usb modes when i plug in usb. kies media player mass storage.just an amature
Not sure if it would work...but odin3 v1.0 had a option for enable debug .could he just do that? Then adb push /system/app/launcher.apk? See pic

Be careful when flashing ROMS, be certain to read the instructions carefully and read the thread too, usually you will find all the information you need, any problems to expect and how to recover from these problems. Good Luck and happy flashing!

Question & Answer
"Root de la Vega" What kind of name is that?
It's named after Ralph de la Vega, CEO of AT&T Mobility.
Can you help me with the drivers?
No, but you can head over here for help with drivers.
How do I get into download mode?
Method 1: adb reboot download
Method 2: Pull the battery out, unplug the usb cable, reinsert the battery. Hold Volume Down + Home + Power. Follow the instructions on the screen.
How was this root method accomplished?
By hex editing the system image to call a script on the sdcard as root.
Will rooting or downgrading or flashing stock trip the Knox flags?
No, KNOX flags will not be tripped!
Will root survive a factory reset?
Yes, it does.
Do I need have to fully wipe my phone when rooting?
Yes. If you don't you will get lots of nasty force closes. I have yet to find a way around it.
Does Xposed Framework work on a rooted Note 3?
Yes, it has been updated to work fully with the Note 3.
Will rooting report system as custom and display an unlocked lock on the initial boot screen?
Yes. It can be removed by installing Xposed Framework with Wanam Xposed and enabling Security hacks > Fake system status.
Titanium Backup is giving me problems, how can I fix it?
Check out this thread. If you are still having issues, please take your concerns to the dev, they are not related to rooting.
How do I open a 7z file?
With 7zip!
Can I do this on OS X/Linux?
No, not until heimdall is updated to support the Note 3.
Can I unroot?
Yes, use SuperSU full unroot option or flash stock.
How do I flash stock?
Check out this thread.
I am getting a "Prevention Information" popup after running a root app, how do I disable it?
From terminal emulator or adb shell as root, run; pm disable com.sec.knox.seandroid
Or freeze the Knox apps with Titanium Backup.
Downloading now. Thanks for all your hard work
Thanks for the efforts

I think so but you have to be bone stock to do it...hence no traces of prior root. Otherwise it fails to update.

I'm bone stock and don't care for root. It took 4-5 hours to download and install the update. I had to clear room first too, before it would actually install.
However, my Active is much zipper than it ever was, and that's including the ****ty 4.4.4 update which brought it to a slow crawl.

As Sam said, you're going to have to either do a full wipe and Odin back to stock or wait and update through flashing fire. Also root may not work after the update so you may want to hold off if you want to keep it, unless you're cool with being a guinnie pig [emoji4]
Good luck with root also if this is 5.1.1 update you know they probably patched the exploit.
Pull the downloaded file and upload a link so everyone has it please.
How is this being pushed out by AT&T? No release news or info from them yet from what I've been able to determine. Would be great if you could grab the files and share so DEV's could pull it apart for us.
What software version are you on now? I doubt that it's 5.1.1.

I believe the OTA files are stored on /Cache section in the phone. You will need root access and something like File Explorer to access /Cache partition. You should be able to copy and move it to SD card so you can plug in a USB and download to a computer, then to dropbox or fileshare.
I dont know if it told you the file name, but you are looking for the 235.96MB file in that folder.

Users who have the Samsung Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 edge on Verizon may have already noticed an update hitting their device, but unfortunately it is not Android 5.1.1. The update, which is rolling out now, brings two small fixes to both devices. First off, it updates the Samsung Reactivation Lock in the device, and the second part is the addition of support for roaming wireless service in Puerto Rico.

I installed the OF1 update after reflashing stock OE2 with Odin. I wanted to go back to OE2 again after the update but Odin keeps giving me an error and won't flash. It looks like Odin states a version error.

I installed the OF1 update after reflashing stock OE2 with Odin. I wanted to go back to OE2 again after the update but Odin keeps giving me an error and won't flash. It looks like Odin states a version error.
Has anyone installed the OTA and then reflash OE2?

Looks like the updates breaks root AND prevents you from rolling back so you CAN get root. Awesome...
That's no surprise to me, and really shouldn't be for anyone else either. Verizon will keep plugging those holes as quickly as they can, and they have finally caught on to making the updates so you can't roll back.
Get used to it, get a Nexus, or a new carrier I guess.

It just highlights the fact that you shouldn't take OTA's from Verizon willy nilly. Root, freeze the updater and wait to see if the OTA breaks root or gets root. The wife's S6 Edge is sitting on the first update, rooted and the updater frozen and it will stay that way.

Do you know what the updater is called in Titanium?
System updates 1.0. Just freeze it.
