A friend of mine has purchased an iphone and has tried to unlock it, i am not sure what has gone wrong but he cant reload the software after unlocking. does any one have any clue to this
regards,
prash
One of the most important parts of unlocking the iPhone is reading and understanding the instructions.
Much like reading and understanding the forum titles and purposes of the forums There's a thread for iPhone support which has some useful links.
Can't put the firmware back on could be so many, many different things that it's impossible to help without more information.
what firmware does he have.. 1.1.2 or earlier.
if he has an iphone with otb 1.1.1 or lower it could be unlocked easily. pm me. if newer than for now turbosim from bladox is the way to go....

To keep the forum cleaner, and to point you to the relevant information sources, so you know a good place to start digging (and there is LOTS of info). What will you do from there is up to you.
The Wiki, section "root", will answer most if not all of your questions.

If you are planning on using it on AT&T, you will never get anything better than edge speeds due to carrier specific hardware. If you are going to buy an N1, I would suggest you buy the one that has the AT&T 3G bands.

anyway, just do one thing to it: fastboot oem unlock.
Hey guys.
At the moment I'm trying to unlock a Samsung Galaxy S5830i for all networks. So I came across this thread and fought with some minor problems, which I solved after looking through the forum. Now I can't find anything similar to the Hex-String in the bml5.img, which should show me the code to unlock the phone.
Now my question: Is it still possible to unlock the S5830i by myself?
After reading the comments, where people with different phones were successfull, I want to ask, because nobody wrote about the "i"-version of the phone. And before I spend hours in searching for an way to unlock it again I want to know, if it is worth the effort.
If you need any more information, feel free to ask.
Greetings, Matt
any idea and suggestions?

sorry about that, i mean "unlocking the phone to use on other carriers"
I dont have bell..but option could be you calling them and asking...
Or cheap off eBay
Or idk
1. Call Bell and pay $40 for an unlock code (official)
2. Browse eBay for unlock code for about $10-20 (unofficial)
3. Wait for dev community to figure out the unlock procedure (unofficial)
Also, being a new member here, please use the search function or Google. It cuts down on redundant posts/threads as well as bringing up existing threads where issues are being discussed, solved or addressed.
Quick question. I know there is a roundabout root method for Snapdragon with SamFAIL, but I am curious if anyone is still working to acquire an unlocked bootloader for Snapdragon, for the full root/recovery experience?

Nice canned answer. Don't you think anyone with a brain tries that first? I'm looking for today's updates. Not updates from Oct. 5th. SMH.

It's simple, take a look at what has been done for current & past Galaxy S Snapdragons. Note phones follow just like the SamFAIL method. There's a reason why people go through the trouble of getting Exynos.
If a method happens to be found/released you will easily find it in a search or quickly in the development section cause it will be big news. Search does work well, if you don't find a method, it's cause it doesnxt exist yet. I personally doubt it will ever happen. The Note 8 is the first time I ever went with an international model for the very same reason.

Wasn't asking if it existed yet, already knew that. As mentioned, anyone with a brain does a search prior to asking to see if it exists first. I was asking if it was still being worked on. Is there any possible way to get Exynos version to work on Verizon?

Lol. I'll be sure to. You could have typed less words answering my question, than getting your panties in another wad over the forum search again. SMH.
For anyone without a brain.

I'll post a real answer being that all the jerks seem to be chiming in. There has not been an unlocked bootloader on a Snapdragon Samsung device since the Note 4. That was kind of a unique situation because there were Developer's devices floating around at the time. It's never impossible for it to happen, but it is super unlikely for any exploits to allow an unlock at this point. I would even go as far to say that it is almost impossible being that most developers opt out of even owning Snapdragon Samsung devices now and there is likely only maybe a handful of people working on it at best.
To all the "use the search button" people, why not just ignore the post if you don't want to answer it? There is nothing to be gained by being a jerk.
The REAL answer is like @jal3223 says. There are a couple of us working on it. I think like 3...
Is there an Exynos variant that works on Verizon?

It's cause of inability of people like you who do not seem to understand the simple fact that us versions of recent galaxy series have not had any unlocked bootloaders. But unlike any one, you choose to ignore the fact to do some basic search in xda or any other forums. If you feel you are technically sound and smart you should have bought yourself a non snapdragon variant and live happily. Also the dev forum section for note8 has the same q answered multiple times over and over again. Try to keep your pants on before being a sissy to others and ask meaningfully. Peace.

Never
Your so disgruntled. This is not a big deal. It's really not. Dude didn't even ask if it was unlocked, but if it was still being worked on. Which is a legitimate question, even after using the search bar. C'mon guy, stop getting upset, and let's all have some pizza!!!
I appreciate all the REAL answers from those that responded! Glad to hear somebody is still trying, and understand it's a very long shot, but figured since there was a quick root method, maybe there a better chance of unlocking with this Note model.
myechophone may not have found a way to unlock the BL on the Note 8, but he has discovered a way to give himself a period every month, and he is on it right now. Best to ignore him while he has a hormonal meltdown about the forum search.

Well the "quick root method" took advantage of the fact that the s8 and s8+ are very similar firmware and hardware wise. Therefore we were actually looking for exploits for 3 devices at once. It was first found to be working on s8. Then we tested on N8. Sure enough it worked. At that point I had been working on root for N8 for almost a month straight(got my phone early)
Sorry new here.. So am I to believe there is a root method for Carrier unlocked version snapdragon Note 8? If so what is it and does it trip Knox? Sorry for the dumb questions.

Hey guys, I'm an experienced developer and I just bought the note 8. I'm not sure who the main developers are around here or how Samsung devices work but I'd love to be some help. I'd love to bootloader unlock my phone.

Welcome! Not 100% sure myself, but suggest checking the SamFail thread and maybe try getting in touch with partycyborg and me2151.
