[Q] Why is the i9305 not being updated to Lollipop? - Galaxy S III I9305 (4G LTE + 2GB RAM) Q&A, Help &

Hello, I have done some research and I have realised that the Note 2 is the same as the S3 LTE (Correct me if i'm wrong).
This Galaxy Note 2 is getting updated to Lollipop, if that is the case, then why is the i9305 not getting updated...
Samsung have already said the Original S3 cannot be updated to Lollipop as it only has 1GB, while the S3 LTE has 2GB RAM, the Note 2 with also 2GB RAM. What is suprising is that the S4 Mini and S5 Mini has 1.5GB RAM and they have both been confirmed to be updated to Lollipop.
Is this something that only I am seeing? If other phones with 1.5GB RAM get the update, surely the S3 LTE should as well.
Thanks.

Personally I like 4.4.4 much more than 5.1. Kudos to Samsung for bringing even 4.4.4 to an rather old device like S3 LTE.

even if it doesnt come to s3 lte, becuase the note 2 and s3 lte are basicly the same, the rom can be ported over

Yes, Samsung deserve recognition for even bothering to update the S3 LTE, but it does seem a bit stupid not to release Lollipop for the i9305 when the Note 2 is getting updated.

With Samsung tho there is not concrete proof that they will release something until they actually release it

I would be very surprised if either device was updated to lollipop. It doesn't make sense from a business point of view to invest in two old devices when their priority would have to be giving customers incentive to upgrade to newer ones

Samsung have confirmed that the Note 2 and the Note 2 LTE is going to get updated to 5.0.1, either way it is good as hopefully it can be ported over to our i9305.

[Q] Thinking of leaving verizon for the ATT gnote but I have some qs...

I want to get the note with ATT after I leave verizon (no point in staying if I can't keep unlimited when I upgrade). I want to know that if I install roms for the I7000 or whatever (international version, right?) will I run into any problems? Is there any differentiation between the att version of the note and the international one? And if so, how can I weed out the development for the att note?
Also curious, if I can install international roms on the ATT version, will I retain my lte?
Different phones. Use the AT&T Note thread for information.

Different hardware entirely. Either buy the ATT note and checkout the ATT note forum, or do what I did and buy the international note (unlocked) and use on AT&T network (in which case this is the correct forum). But you can't mix.

That's exactly what I did. I have the unlocked GT-N7000 (this forum model) on the ATT network. But yeah, totally different phones.

I have been doing a ton of research on the Note, so this is one of the few questions I can answer here. Not all of them...but most. Since I am still new here I am unable to add links.
The Samsung Galaxy Note N7000 (International) has a a dual-core 1.4 GHz Exynos processor. Externally, it has a physical "home" button and two touch-sensitive buttons. It also has a built in radio.
The Samsung Galaxy Note SGH-I717 (US & Canada) has a Qualcomm MSM8660 Snapdragon with a dual-core 1.5 GHz Scorpion CPU and an Adreno 220 GPU. It has four touch-sensitive buttons instead of two. It can do LTE.
Looking at that you might think that the I717 is just better all around. This -apparently - is incorrect. In the bench marked tests I saw with a Galaxy Note with Exynos VS. the Galaxy Note with Snapdragon, the Exynos based one beat Snapdragon performance wise.
Galaxy Note with Exynos
GLBenchmark 2.1 Egypt High: 2827 Frames (25.0 Fps)
GLBenchmark 2.1 Egypt Standard: 3012 Frames (26.7 Fps)
Galaxy Note with Snapdragon
GLBenchmark 2.1 Egypt High : 1014 Frames (9.0 Fps)
GLBenchmark 2.1 Egypt Standard : 2425 Frames (21.5 Fps)
The site I found this from is called "Galaxy Tabs" from a a Feb 6, 2012 post.
Which leaves the question - Why would Samsung use a less hefty chip in the US & Canada version. The reason I have found is that the Exynos processor can't do LTE. Then again - weather all this is good or not depend on preferences and pattern of use.
------------------
So there you have it. I should mention though that (I presume) you did a terrible job searching. Not only did I find a post here from 28th February 2012 Called i717 vs GT N7000, but I also found alot of information from -wait for it- Wikipedia. Just FYI.
On the upside though - most of the stuff I mentioned I did from memory.
YAY research!
The att i717 has lte. If u using internet alot and your area has lte. Its better to use the att gnote. U can always overclock tge i717gnote to make tge clock faster.. After overclock there's no lag issues and it runs super smooth. But if u want more custom roms abd faster offical update. Buy the international gnote. Either way u cant go wrong. I chose attgnote cos tge lte and i overclock my note. It runs super smooth and super fast downloads cos tge lte!!

[Q] Galaxy Note N7000 or I717

I am getting a Note I now
I am getting confused with mixed reviews of N7000 and I717
Hardware seems good with N717(N.America ATT Version) but there seems lack of software dev on it!
I dont need LTE at all!
Can someone suggest which one to go with?
I already own a iPhone i am just getting note for an productivity!
If you need the device NOW.. Why don't you get a note II (there's a note II per carrier in USA) if you are not from USA get the N7100.. If you can't afford note II and you are from USA and your carrier it's AT&T get the I717, but anything else just get the N7000 because it has better hardware..
Price difference between note I and note II its not much.. Check on Amazon
Cheers

New 4.22 S4 Active update supports gear.

Just got an OTA update for my active. Im on an unlocked s4 active in the uk.
Thought it was 4.3. The description said it was for Galaxy Gear support.
So still on 4.2.2. with a working gear. Im on the latest null rom too.
I wonder if other s4 variants or galaxy devices are getting this.
My gear just started working

Yes I just got a 56 Mb update and suddenly my gear is working - Bottler beaut mate!!!! Its only because my phone came with a build from Yemen (Ebay grey) and half the apps were not in English, because the Oz version of the rom I downloaded did not cook properly I decided to download the SE Asia version and within minutes I had an update from 4.22 to 4.22 which I thought was strange but I decided to try and set up my gear again, call it a hunch but bingo I have a working gear that I can upload clocks and apps etc, talk about perfect timing I have just sold my Note 3 and though the gear would be stored for a few month because we in OZ are the bottom of the food chain for Samsung, and then with controlling telcos like Telstra it would be 6 months or more before we would have had an update .
I use S4 mini dual sim i9192 and I got the compatibility in December last year...

$949 its very expensive than note 3. I remember i bought note 3 for $740
Sent from my SM-N9005
No, it's cheaper than the RRP of the Note 3 which was $999AUD. That means stores could potentially sell it even less at launch than what we paid for the Note 3 if you look around and find the best deal. And no offence but I doubt you got the Note 3 on launch for $740 without a trade-in or staff discount at a store, maybe a month later when the price dropped perhaps.
guys you were right, Australian site is selling it for $969.99 and has in stock while samsung is planning to release in Australia on 17th October.

Not anymore, the latest big little set up from Samsung now supports lte cat-4 and yes it will support all AUS lte frequencies.
EDIT: So what will everybody choose, Snapdragon is the default Aussie device and supports the upcoming cat6 4G?
On the other hand it is speculated that the Octa version may be able to utilize 64bit processing which may be usefull for Android L.
4G. (LTE Cat.4 150/50Mbps) Octa or 4G (LTE Cat.6 300/50Mbps) Quad Core.
My contact says Intellichoice will stock for RRP of $999.00
but also said will go on sale on the 22nd...

thanks for providing such useful information, i am shocked if 64 bit is coming in note 4 then it would be increasing speed than snapdragon one and its going to be a big deal
note: Price drop on provided link now its $929 lol if price drop remains in the current ratio i bet, note 4 would be around $650 in near future lol just kidding
Samsung have pulled a UK on us.
Note 4 Delayed.

Telco plans are finally up! (Have updated second post in this thread)
Grey import is around $900 to $930 from kogan, shoppingsquare. There is not any major price difference between official and grey import

Sent from my SM-N9005
No its the 910G as are all australian releases
Got mine on release (via Optus - too poor to pay for one outright).
No complaints with it. Just hanging out for Lollipop though (or CM12, whichever comes first).
Ive got exynos model not 64bit enabled yet but can/will be soon hopefully

Advice on rooting 4.4.4 AT&T Note 3?

We'll currently I'm in the market to buy a phone I really want the note 3, plus I can afford it :/ wish I could afford note 4 but oh well, have more important stuff to buy, anyways if I bought a note 3 from AT&T would it come with 4.3 an I can root ? Or update to where I want like 4.4.2 an root? Or will the AT&T have to phone updated to latest 4.4.4? If it came with 4.4.4 could I root or would that matter on what kernal it's on?
I'm new to android world an wanting to learn been doin a lot research on note 3 but there not much info about 4.4.4 with a root for AT&T/ Verizon models, mostly every thing is 4.3 or 4.4.2 or other models (Such as T-mobile, Sprint, International models), but also what r the chances for a future root? Maybe 6month from now or a root with lollipop 5.0? Is it likely or not so much cause don't seem like no dev. Is working on 4.4.4 root for AT&T/ Verizon Model cause we know the bootloader is locked
With all that said would you still recommend Samsung Galaxy Note 3 or should I buy a different phone? Like iPhone 5S something within these two devices price range? :/
Anyways please message your thought or what do you think the best idea is?
all good
The Note 3 is so good anyway it ships I believe you will be very happy as is. I would root what ever you get and then put 5.0 on when it is out.
