Hi
I have a question about lollipop update. Since i updated my phone im experiencing wifi issues because connection drops a lot. Especially while using tethering and sharing connection with laptop. Anyone has issues too? What can i do? I know some people suggested changing frequency but i cant no longer find those advanced wifi settings.
Update: So it seems that issue with wifi was mostly connected to tethering. I tried to figure out what's the problem but no idea..... Finally I tried to install Pda app and now it's running quite well and with reasonable speed again. Two things are still bothering me though. When I connected usb in the past I got a choice to connect phone to laptop either to import/export medias, tether or whatever else.... Now it doesn't give me this option and I didn't find it anywhere. So how do I connect phone to laptop so I can copy pictures, music etc? Also alarm seems to be off when I have 'silent' profile active. It used to wake me up just normally even with silent profile but now it says I have to set priority to alarm clock but I have no idea how.
Lg L90 serious problems with memory

So many quentions, so little time to answer them all...
Back from trying to be funny. Yes, LP in 5.0.2 has problems with memory (although I didn't know it still occured on stock since nobody else had reported it).
You won't solve this by unistalling apps. Those heavier ones will cause some problems in usage. You can go back to KK by flashing kdz file (a guide for it is to be found in general section) or wait for another update

LP does not have problems with memory is the ART runtime that is making the apps big
I solved the problem
I installed the app Fix lollipop memory leak and it fixed the problem
So no one knows about connecting via usb menu? In KitKat it always popped up automatically but I could also find it in the menu and choose to connect USB for media transfer (MTP mode) or tethering or whatever else. Now not only these options don't pop up automatically but I can't find it in settings. Anyone knows where can I find it?

Hey peeps, ti me for my first post.
Well i upgraded tO stock germanICS a couple of days back. Everything was working fine until yesterday. WiFi is behaving weird, i can connect with no probs at home but i've noticed that the download arrow from the WiFi icon on status bar is on and off all the time, draining the battery faster than expected(e.g. rom 100% to 65% 3 hours almost no use). So i spoke with a friend of mine, kind of a geek, he told me it could be so me kind of compatibility issue between ICS and old router's firmware. So i went to a bar nearby to check if i could reproduce the same behaviour and everything was working normal.
Did Anyone here had anything similar? I've been surfing to do so me research, but all i've found is so me peoples probs with WiFi not connecting at all and some sII users withe their WiFi module broken.
Thanks in advance!
Also...
I´ve read somewhere that a factory wipe solved some wifi´s peoples probs. As i´m under german ICS LPY i know i´ll be likely bricking the note if i wipe, what leads to teh next question...is it possible to flash a kernell(without the bug) without being root?
Cheers,
VR
edit
So i´ve been reading quite some info about franco´s and speedmod´s kernels, and it´s so confusing for starters. My last question remains , is it possible to flash those for a non rooted device? Anyone that is running it tried wiping? Results?
Thx again
Edit 2
After some research i now know i need to root for any new kernel flash, as i read my post i´m starting to feel i´ve lost my head somewhere, so bear with me, hehehe. Also found out some people tried wiping with franco´s kernel with no probs, so i almost have the info i was looking for. So, in case i go root and get franco´s kernel up and running, do you think my WIFI issues might dissapear after wiping?
I have the same bug...with wifi also the os android buy draining ny battery so bad...im on stick rom gb 2.3.6 with the ssme oroblem....any solution?
we could not get wifi on ics so i called virgin my provider and got a replacement router now all is working fine

Hello guys
Recently I noticed WiFi disconnects when turning Bluetooth on. Whn I opened the WiFi menu all acces points were not available. But when Bluetooth is off there is no problem. Any solutions?
I have the same problem. I'm running CM11 M11 but had the issue also with M10. It is really annoying since I also have a Sony SmartBand and therefore i can't use wifi at all.

same problem here. Seems that bluetooth low enegy device and wifi does not work well together.
I have a xiaomi mi band and it kills wifi as soon as I connect it. The only way around is to disable sync and manually sync. After sync you can go to bluetooth settings and search for devices. After that wifi connects normally until I sync the band to the phone again.
I tried the fix described by @MrSteve555 in the FXP CM11 development thread but it did not help, the issue still remains.

Same thing here. I'm running CM11 M11, Williams v4. A bit annoying if you rely on Bluetooth for the SmartBand. I've taken to having BT on all the time when I'm not at home (not using WiFi) and switching to WiFi with only occasionally turning on BT when I'm home. Not really a solution, but as a workaround it's okay.
I really hope someone can work this out. I think I will just create a tasker profile or something. But then again, not an elegant solution.
I have the same problem, I have it on stock 4.3 rom and now i just installed CM11 and there is still problem. Anyone found a solution? Do I really need to go back to android 4.1 to fix this?

Well I suggest flashing the stock ROM again on your phone. That may solve the problem..
Hi,
I have an xperia z1 C9603 on android 4.4, recently something happened, I keep getting a message(the time between messages varying from 5 second to approx. 2 mins) in the lower region of the screen saying "Internet Connection is Enabled", I'm constantly connected through wifi at home and via data services otherwise, I'm curious what started to trigger this and feel concerned that it maybe some sort of malware or spyware working in the background which is causing this, also it seems switching off wifi seems to decrease the frequency of the messages. I have not made any change to network settings, my phone is on the stock rom and is not rooted as well. I have scanned it using dr. web anti-virus and kaspersky(which is currently installed) and have not found anything yet.
Any help on this would be highly appreciated.
Thanks! :good:

Can you please explain what you meant by phone is bugged? Did you mean to say a glitch or bugging in the sense of spying?

I really don't know but reflash ftf may solve the problem
I've got an annoying problem with my phone where the Wifi turns off when my phone is idle or asleep. This means my WhatsApp for Web disconnects and also my Moto Connect plays up too.
I've got the same problem at home, work and parents house so can't be an issue with all 3 networks. The keep wifi on during sleep option is set to Always before anyone mentions this to me.
Phone is running Lollipop 5.0 in the UK and is NOT rooted.
I noticed it doesn't happen when the phone is charging though.
Any ideas?
Right I've now tried changing the Sleep setting to Never but get the same problem.
Also tried connecting to the router via WPS but no luck.
Router is a Superhub 2. I've ruled out that it's the Superhub as I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini that is running fine without a single drop out.
Definitely something Moto X related.
I've also tried on both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands with same results!
Try looking within the WiFi settings on the phone. Mine has this
. Added photo
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Free mobile app
Mine is identical to yours other than the fact that I don't have the wifi optimization option.
Right I've just cleared the cache as instructed by Motorola support.
Still have the same problem even after clearing cache.
Ok I can confirm that the issue goes away when in safe mode.
This is starting to piss me off as I don't have any way of checking if it's an app affecting my wifi disconnections!!!
I've finally found and fixed the problem myself!!
I decided to turn my bluetooth on (even though it wasn't connected to any bluetooth devices). This seems to stop the phone from causing the wifi to go to sleep!
It seems like it's a bug in the Moto X Lollipop firmware. How do I report bugs to Motorola??
It's funny how most say it's apps that cause strange behaviour but for me it's been the actual Android firmware each time I've ever had an issue!
I hope it gets fixed soon.

It's a known bug of 5.0, and already fixed for 5.1. Source, at the "Bug fixes section".
Great that you found a workarround.
Cheers!
Manuel.
Hey glad to know it's a well known bug. The work around still doesn't work. It still keeps disconnecting all the time! Driving me mad!! If the 5.1 update doesn't fix it for me, I'll need to try and get a refund and go for something else. Shame as I really like the Moto X but I can't live with an issue as stupid as this!
I'm not sure Motorola are aware of this issue at all. See their comment below from one of their support staff I'm speaking to now:
Santhosh: We have not received any reports regarding Wi-FI issue after the Android Lollipop update but please give me a moment I will provide the solution for this issue.
His solution for the issue was to get me to do a factory reset lol. I already did this when I first got updated to Lollipop!!
Going to try doing another one now to see if it actually makes any difference. Then will install a few apps at a time or something.
I am connected to WiFi just about all of time, and I have never experienced this.
Right I've done a factory reset and started completely afresh with none of my data or apps restored. WiFi has been solid; I've not had a single drop out!
I'm going to install just a couple of apps at a time and keep an eye out if the issue comes back until I find the culprit.
Hi
My phone was perfect (until now) with the WIFI since november 2014 even after I upgraded it to 5.0
But today, it suddenly starts with this problem by itself. so I restored it to factory defaults with no luck, I installed a new firmware, and still has the bug.
So, why it shows up until now by itself without any mod, app or update?
Sorry for my English.
Today I upgraded it to 5.1 and the issue persists
I had to back to stock 4.4.4. and now my wifi has been fixed so far, working good without interruption until now.
I hope this has fix the problem from sourse, and I'll wait a few days to upgrade it again.
EDIT: Has been a month since my downgrade to 4.4.4. and my WIFI still rocks.
Just want to say that I'm having the same issue since the update to 5.1. Wifi is set to be always on during sleep, but I regularly wake up my phone only to find it connected to 4G, and switching to wifi a few seconds after waking up.
I'm on a locked bootloader (unrooted of course). I did a full reset after the update...
I'm sorry to say that I've seen more little glitches since 5.1 than anything I noticed on 5.0.
EDIT: another issue I'm having is the stock mail client not syncing saying that there is no network connection. My exchange account (push) works fine however...
Just to say the issue has started for me too since the update to 5.1.
I've done 2 factory resets but no luck trying to fix this very annoying problem.
Motorola have asked me to send my phone in for repair so I'll try that and see what happens.
I bought the Nexus 6 (blue, 64gb) the day one, in November and since that day I noticed random reboots in a particular situation. When I switch to a WiFi network to another it shuts down and so I have to turn it on. When it turns on I have lost all my WiFi networks configurations, so passwords, dhcp settings, etc.
Random reboots rarely happen also in camera/gallery apps.
I tried to send it back to google and I received a new nexus. The first one was produced in June 2014, the new one in December 2014. The issue is still there. [emoji17] I've also tried to update to 5.1 but no resolution.
I have rooted, installed twrp, decrypted both my nexus 6 with toolkit.
How can I solve the problem? I was very happy with this phone.
Try using it completely stock and see what happens. I'd say chances are that if you set both up the same, it's something you're doing and not the hardware on 2 different phones.
But other people have made the same basic mods on their nexus and their phone has not this kind of issue.
Is it every network? Maybe try a stable custom ROM to see if it happens there too. Could be a problem with specific networks or even apps. Troubleshooting is the key. First try full wipe, no restored Apps.
I could be as simple as an app the developer has not updated since gingerbread or something stupid like that.
Is there a way to find the malicious app?
There definitely *was* a bug causing loss of wifi networks, and I think there may also have been a reboot involved there (not sure if we rebooted it manually, or if it just did it on its own as a response to a wpa_supplicant crash...). It was across the board for Android 5.0 though, not limited to Nexus 6. I saw my wife's Nexus 5 do it once. Never actually had it happen on my 6.
I'm not sure if this bug was fixed or not, since it wasn't something we tried to reproduce, and only happened once. The bug is definitely related to wpa_supplicant, since that is the only program that actually interacts with its configuration file (which is where the wifi configurations are actually stored).
As far as galleries go, you're not giving much to guess by. I certainly haven't seen galleries cause reboots like that. Maybe you are using a bad one?
Try this gallery; https://github.com/lbdroid/Android-Binaries/blob/master/Gallery2.apk
That is the actual AOSP gallery, modified to install as a standalone application. The source code is in another repository on my github.
*note: it will not do you any good at all to swap out your phone, since there is no indication that you are experiencing a hardware issue.
But why other people doesn't experience this problem that is related to WiFi? All people use WiFi and every time. Is there a way to fix the WPA_supplicant issue? Maybe a custom ROM?
My first n6 had also an hw issue, I think, because before it rebooted it gave me some little "buzz" from the top speaker.

all people use WiFi is an incorrect statement. you can say most ppl use wifi, but all would never happen. I hate using WiFi and NEVER use it except when its absolutely necessary. ive probably used WiFi 2 times on my n6 since getting my n6 in November, and there's no WiFi issues here.

Yes, start with stock and install a few apps at a time until you get the problem. Given the fact that you have 2 different phones experiencing the same problem, it is much more likely that it is something software related rather than hardware (though I suppose it could be possible if you're really unlucky ).

You said that it happens when you change from one wifi network to another. Most people don't do that. Most people have one wifi network at a time and don't change it.
There is also a huge difference between wifi network configurations... A/B/N/AC, frequency, bandwidth, multiple-bands, encryptions, etc.
My first n6 had also an hw issue, I think, because before it rebooted it gave me some little "buzz" from the top speaker.
