Ok, so from the beginning, I installed the OC4 pre-rooted lollipop and had no problems with it. Then, I decided I wanted to change the system font. I tried to use ROM toolbox but I was too lazy to buy or download an apk file, so I decided to modify the files themselves. I downloaded some lollipop fonts and copy and pasted them into the system font folder and wrote over the original system fonts. When i noticed the font looked a little weird, like google now wasn't displaying information correctly if it did at all i decided i messed up. I downloaded some stock s5 fonts and decided that i would just add them to the system font folder and that would fix it. It made it worse. Now, my phone does not even boot up past the logo splash screen. I have used odin and kies but nothing works. Am I SOoL?

I downloaded a bootanimation from the Android themes forum, placed it in my /system/media folder (correctly named, too), reboot my phone, and somehow managed to get a bootanimation that I had never seen before. It's the the text Android logo. Since that's not the Cog boot animation I had before, the default samsung one, or the one I downloaded, I'm wondering how the heck did this happen, and how to get the one I want.
Any ideas?
EDIT: After a softbrick, then Odin, then back to Cog, it worked. MIRACLES!
//Oh, and this can be closed, if possible.
The android txt is the true default that will run if you fubar the install.
Also need to make sure the zip has no compression our it won't work either.
And last but not least make sure your putting the zip in the correct location /system/media
On Cognitions latest and greatest. Don't ask what version DG pumps em' out to fast!
I went ahead and used the international stock animation in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2502550
I have since created my own boot animation, but I can't seem to get ANY animations to work.
I've tried several in the boot animations thread in the themes section. I just get a black screen at boot.
I deleted the files that i placed under system for the stock animation, and I have added the bootanimation bin file to enable the zip folders.
I made sure all the permissions were correct, too.
I have no idea why the bootanimations won't work. Please help.
I also tried the "enable samsung boot animation" zips from around XDA. No luck
Anyone?
They work for me. Which .ogg are you replacing
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I figured it was the bootanimation file and permissions, I also tried the permissions for the bootanimation.zip.
My phone started to get laggy and take forever to load up. Then the stock animations wouldn't even work. I restored all the original files (had them saved as .bak) and nothing went back to normal (even put the default bootanimation file in system/bin)
Soooo, I just reflashed the stock rom and rerooted and called it a jelly donut. The SAME exact bootanimation and bootanimation.zip files are working perfect now. No freaking clue what messed up. :silly:
Ok so im stuck.
I've tried everything to install a different boot animation on my T-Mobile Note 4.
I tried downloading a file that was titled "CWM_CustomBootanimation_44_Enable.zip"
then going into an XDA thread that had a bunch of "bootanimation.zip"'s and choosing the one I liked.
Downloaded and placed it in my system/media/ folder.
Gave it the right permisions.
But nothing happened... I rebooted the phone and now all i had was just the stock samsung note 4 boot-up, but oddly i was now missing the T-mobile one that would show up right after, although the T-Mo jingle remained.
I kept searching and then found the strategy of just replacing the "bootsamsung.qmg" and "bootsamsungloop.qmg" files.
I found another boot animation i liked with .qmg format.
It came in zip folder and i extracted the 2 files, copied them over and named them like the original files (also adding an "_old" to the titles of the originals incase i ever needed them again)
Gave them the right permissions
Rebooted
And same thing again... just the stock black note 4 screen
At this point i decided to try another .qmg file, but this time for the shutdown animation...
Did pretty much the same run around...
and it worked! so the shut down animation was changed without a hitch.
I went back to the media folder and realized there were other boot files such as "bootsamsungmini.qmg", "bootsamsungminiloop.qmg", "bootsamsungmini2.qmg" and "bootsamsungmini2loop.qmg"
so i tried switching all of them to the 2 .qmg files i originally downloaded, with the right permissions, but nothing... still same stock black boot up.
So now, like i said, I'm stuck...
Should i have just put the whole zip file in the media folder? there were two folders in that zip. One was system/media with the two new boot animations and the other was META-INF/com/google/android/ with two files "update-binary" and "updater-script". Not sure if i have to do anything with these files.
Ive also heard theres an app on the market called Boot Animation but it has lots of mixed reviews, dont feel like going through the hassle of possibly bricking my device now.
And ive never been a custom rom kinda guy so i dont want to switch roms just for a boot animaion.
Any help would be appreciated thanks.
Anyone?
Most system/media files contain a bootanimation.zip folder. Make sure you delete it or when you put in the new qmg the system will boot from the zip file before the extracted qmgs
Hello here is an edited version of the easyonehand.apk for the Galaxy S5. Only difference from the stock one is that now the border is black so that it saves power due to the OMLED being darker, and it makes it easier to use it at night when that white border can get distracting. This effort was inspired by this thread in the GNote III forum, so I cross-posted here: POST
1. First I used a titanium backup of the stock app to get at the APK.
2. Then I messed with the images in the apk\res\drawable-xxhdpi\ by extracting the pngs that make up the white border from the stock app.
3. I also reversed the colors on the icons and handles so they would be visible on the new black background.
4 Then I took a fresh copy of the stock APK, appended ".zip" to the apk name and opened it in winrar, I dragged and dropped the new pngs into the "\res\drawable-xxhdpi" folder
5. Then I removed the ".zip" from the modified apk name and put the new APK on my SD card
6. Then I used "X-plore File Manager" to copy the new apk (with a different name) into root/sys/app/
7. Then again I used X-Plore File Manager to change the name of the new package to the name of the stock file, in my case it was "easyonehand2.apk"
8. This replaces the old one with the new one and now when you switch to one hand mode you should get this:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lonelycatgames.Xplore&hl=en
I think any root file manager should work for this. If we are lucky, you might be able to just install the apk over the existing one directly, but the first few times I tried that it wouldn't install. Something about a signature. So, let me know if that works. too.
This is my first attempt at such a thing, so I dunno how well it works, but on my phone, everything seems fine.
Sorry about the lack of inline images and links, This is my first post so it wont let me do that.

Okay so I was messing around with my bootanimation on my s4 before I realized I couldn't use zip files. So what happened was... When I copied the stock bootanimation to move it to a different file I'm guessing it didn't work because it's not there.. I'm using root browser for this. Now when I go into system>media the bootanimation is the custom one I put in. So when I reboot my phone I do not have a bootanimation at all. Just black screen. I guess my question is, how do I fix this or how do I replace this with the stock animation?
