Hi guys 1st post here, Im having a problem with my X1 camera shutter button. Here it is, when im in the todays screen when i press the camera shutter ofcourse it will activate the camera application, and now here is my problem when I'm now in the camera application when I press the camera shutter nothing is happening, it's not focusing nor taking a shot but when I'm outside the camera application it is working. Any guys have an idea on how to solve the issue? Please give some advice, thanks!
You say that it does work when you're outside? If that is so, there's obviously nothing wrong with your X1, as the unit doesn't "detect" wheter it's indoors or outside
I'm thinking more along the lines of it's working, but it just takes a while. When inside with low light intensity, it might take time for the software to focus.

I mean outside is when i'm not in "camera application (taking picture mode application)". Not outside (outdoor) literally. The shutter button is not pressing.
That is very odd indeed.
1) Have you tried a hard-reset?
2) Have you installed any custom ROM's?
So far i did'nt hard reset nor install custom rom on my fone. I think that is my last choice if can't rid of this problem.
Does it work when pressing the joystick button instead of the camera button?

Have you tried soft resetting alone? Might be enough to fix it.
@on8a
yes, i used this button as an alternative shot at the cost of no automatic focus.
@THESpideyWVU
Yes i tried the soft reset.
Im not quite sure if this is the cause of the problem, the last time it was not working since I installed some softwares like Handango InHand and Resco Keyboard Pro, Im not satisfied with the software and then unistall them both.
I have the same problem - haven't found a solution.
The hardware camera button will launch the camer application (so yes, it is 'working') but it doesn't seem to be mapped to actually take a shot any more. It won't even auto-focus... it just does nothing once the camera program is open. The joystick button will take pics fine.
Seen several posts from multiple people about this problem (on several sites!) but none with an answer!!!
Hi,
Can't believe it - I was gonna post a question about this today as I have discovered my camera button doing the same - it will launch the camera app but not actually take a photo.
I had Resco Contact Manager installed too but have removed it. I also have AE Button Plus installed, so am not sure if this is messing about with the key mapping.
Shame no-one's got an idea!
Does anyone know anything about where this might be stored in the reg?
Cheers all
Sounds to me as if a (any) program messed this up. First you guys/gals need to find a common program or software developer to see if that is somehow a commonality.
The other, in my opinion faster way to find that out, the first one with that problem and having any such program installed, who restores/resets the phone and then the button works again.... that will in any case proof for that instance that it was any of such programs that messed it up in the first place.
Just a suggestion...

I'm having the same problem. Any news on this matter?
Just discovered recently I am having the same problem. The thing is tat even the volume buttons which is supposed to make it zoom doesnt work also.
The strange thing is tat the volume (zoom) button and the focus-take picture button will work when i slide out the keyboard. But it is just weird tat I have to slide out the keyboard to take a picture and the button is not so accesible either.
Indeed. I'm having this problem as well. Might be a program conflict but I have no idea which. Do any of you have GProfile/GAlarm/FingerKeyboard2 installed as well?

What is the Firmware you guys are using? How about flashing to the latest 'official' one and see/check PRIOR installation of those programs, if the issue is there. If so, call SE for warranty because then its probably a hardware issue.
Otherwise I guess very strongly that those 'keyboard mapping programs' mess up this button. It seems obvious to me at least! "Remapping Keyboard Button"... then camera button doesn't works... hm...
hi
anyone found any solution yet. i am facing the same problem as well. I cannot remember when it started not to work but i remember it is still working before i update to the official R3a firmware. I have also installed the auto-flash and disabled the shutter sound. Did any of these broke the key function?

I have GAlarm and Fingerkeyboard2 installed but i cannot remember if the button works before i installed these programs. I have also discovered that my camera button works, meaning i can do focus and take pictures if i slide out my keyboard, therefore i think it is more of a software issue rather than hardware defects

Out of those three, I have G-Alarm installed. No camera button mapping problem.

I have the problem on the latest FW..both on the official 6.1 and the cooked 6.5 roms. I have a feeling that it might be FingerKboard2 but I haven't uninstalled it to try yet. The only app that I had which remapped anything was GProfile but uninstalling that didn't change anything.
Shutter key DOES work when keyboard is slid out though.
I have this issue as well...
i only have the Rhoidum keyboard installed.

This is a great question as I ran into the same exact problem. My issue started after I downloaded the "de Blob" game which allows you to "calibrate" the sensor based on the orientation of how you want to hold the phone during accelerometer based play. After doing so my auto rotate would turn at awkward times and I found that other games didn't respond appropriately. I tried going back and "re-calibrating" by laying the phone flat but that didn't work. What ended up working for me (as I could not find for the LIFE of me where the "calibrate" feature was in the settings) the "Bubble" app which is basically a level app that tells you if a surface is level. Once I calibrated in the Bubble app, I no longer had the issue. Needles to say I no longer use the accelerometer to play "de Blob" and have emailed him to let him know of the issue. (I haven't gotten a response) Hope this helps. I will be looking forward to other ideas on how to re-calbrate the sensor in case this happens again. I'm sure there is a easier way.
yea i tried the bubble app out and now my gsensor is not working at all no matter what direction i put it in the gsensor does not respond
Really? Sorry man. Worked for me. You may need to start from scratch by wiping your phone and reflashing your ROM
The same problem
Hi are you have some solution. My G-sensor didn't respond too.

They recommend you to mahe "8" signs with your phone in hand (twist it in all direction) because the sensor recalibrates that way. This is othe official advice.
Calibrating with the bubble app should work too. If not - alt+w
I have got the G-Sensor.
From Recovery
backup
Alt+W - delete all
and update to CM last stable
No joke, try shaking your g1 around kind of hard, it might be stuck. Reset it again after that and see what happens, worth a shot.
may sound daft, but have you tried this solution?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4424396&#post4424396
it is a quick fix for auto rotate issues, not a permanent solution, but it may help as auto rotate is accellerometer based, as are all the apps you're trying to use
if it works, thanks go to MikeTaylor00, not me, i'm merely a messenger

hey senaia, is this a proven method? Thanks =)
Hi to everyone,
First of all, i have to apologyze for my english, and just in case if there is another thread about this, but i haven't been able to fnd a solution or anyone with a similar problem.
I have a problem with the g-sensor of my OB, but i think it's a sw issue, as i can calibrate it with apps like gps settings (or something like that) putting the phone on a flat surface, and then i can see that it behaves normally IN THE APP. But then i go to the gallery and it automatically rotates to landscape mode, no matter how i put the phone. It detects that it is always sideways.
So i would like to know it f there is a way of calibrating the system accelerometer (not using 3rd party apps, which works for the app) and fix this problem.
Note: I have tried stock rom 2.2, 2.3 and cyanogenmod and the result is the same, so i have to disable screen rotation at least for reading properly the menus.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
Hi!
I am facing problems with the orientation sensors (accelerometer and/or gyroscope), because installing several applications to test them (or use games), it is clearly observable, that they are a bit off (with enough to be disturbing when required). For example, games or tests that simulate a ball, and my phone is laying on a horizontal table, the ball rolls quickly to the edge of screen. This happens as well with the built-in tests in the "service menu" of the phone, for accelerometer and gyroscope also.
Do you have any suggestions how could I calibrate these sensors globally (for every app)?
Thanks.

factory Reset ur phone and then use PC companion app to Repair Firmware...
this can wipe current data and install fresh firmware on ur device

Hi,
I have the same problem. Only the x axis of the accelerometer seems to be affected : it show a value around 1 instead of 0 while the phone is sitting flat. Y and Z display normal values.
All the software solutions I have tried have had no effect at all... It seems the built-in test reads raw data from the accelerometer. It is hard to imagine how this can be a hardware problem though...
Anyway, in my case I believe a software fix (x=x-1) would do the trick but I have no idea how to do such a thing ! Any help ?
@vekto : Have you solved the issue by any chance ?
Would anyone care to try the accelerometer tests and post their results ?
Typing *#*#7378423#*#* will get you on the service menu. The two significant tests are "accelerometer" and "gyroscope".
I'd post some screenshots myself but I'm not allowed yet...
I'm having the same problem now. It seems one axis is affected. Haven't found a way around so far. This is sad because it affects the images taken with Google Camera Sphere mode. The images are badly aligned together with glitches in between. My phone wasn't like this before.
Either a SW fault - might be able to calibrate with GPS Status & Toolbox app, for example - or a FW fault - and reflashing ROM might help (highly unlikely) - or HW fault - the sensor has moved on the board (which is a bad sign anyway, might be on the way to disconnecting itself).
I sent mine to Xperia Care and got it back with the accelerator fixed. Still unclear if it's a HW problem...
It came back with a white spot on the screen (near the power button) though... so I sent it back again
I'm also having issues with the gyroscope. Installed Bubble app to calibrate the gyro. It showed the gyro was of a couple of degrees. Unfortunately the bubble app calibration doesn't work in a game like Need for Speed. It's very difiicult to achieve good times in the game right now since I have to hold it tilted to the left to go straight ahead.
So if anyone has a fix or workaround... Please do post.
Same problem, Seems after factory reset whith wipe dalvik cache.
any solution?
02nd March 2017, my autorotate has completely stopped working, restart, safe-deposit and reset do not fix. Diagnostics show Gyroscope Light Sensor and accelerometer failed testing, 3 years of same issue, surely there must be a fix that works by now?? ( please note, " turning it off and on again " does not fix it )
Helps Please
I have the same issue. Since last week, gyro, accelerometer, light and proximity sensors stop working. I've tried reflashing stock ROM without success. I have not warranty (almost 3 years old), so I even try to disassemble , disconnect an reconnect every flex (I don't know exactly were the sensors are located on the board). After that I get almost 8 hours of fully functionally sensors and then, they stop working again, so I'm almost sure it's a hardware issue.
Same problem for 3 years
I'm just now getting around to doing something about this. As my power button stopped working I can't post requested screenshot without going to the pc. I have been shopping new (fall 2018) phones after having the Z3+ since release. In my research I'm finding the phone still is better than Samsung, LG, and the pixel3 for me because the 3.5mm phone jack is mandatory for me using my device with an i-rig midi requiring both that port and the USB at the same time. I'm going to do everything I can to keep using this phone till it falls to dust. It's one of 4 Sony I've bought since the day Z1 came out of t-mo. I look forward to testing solutions. :good:
Some time after my post, I bought a new jack/proximity sensor flex and replace it. This solved the issue, but weeks later, the bottom portion of the touch screen becomes unresponsive. May be I have done something wrong... may be programmed obsolescence...
Hi I'm facing a problem of my gyroscope I don't know which one is not working a gyroscope or accelerometer. My gyroscope is so delay when I play pubg mobile and I can't also calibrate my Gsensor it always says FAIL but I put in a perfect flat surface please please please help me with this problems
I am using xperia z3 compact since about 1 year. Now i suddenly got a serious issue that atonce my soft navigation keys(Back+Home+Recent Apps Buttons) has stopped working. First there was some trouble upon touching keys but after next day they stopped working at all and were just like dead. I made a factory restore but no use. Then i flashed a fresh copy of new downloaded firmware but problem still persisted.
But strange thing is that if its hardware problem then why these keys are working in "Gloves Mode".
I was on Android version 6.0.1 build: 23.5.a.0.575 at the time of problem occurred. Then i flashed build: 23.5.a.0.570 but no use. Please help.........
I solved this by going to back to kitkat
Same as same problem with you @libra857 . Really it solve the problem going back to kitkat? Thanks a lot @sparkys I'll try to do that. Thanks Thanks Thanks. BTW what firmware do you use?
the same problem suddenly i was Android version 6.0.1 build: 23.5.a.0.575 at never halted i put my phone on charger next morning found the problem i tried factory reset then downgrade to 23.4.A.1.264 but no thing solved it until i activated glove mode it helped me to use my phone but not solve the problem

Really? Then you upgrade or leave it at KK?
I've had the same issue for 2 months now, the nav bar doesn't work and also a small section of the upper screen doesn't as well. Download a screen test app and see for yourself.
If possible, take the issue to Sony Care and see if you can make them fix it. I've haven't had such luck and taking into consideration the rather expensive (around 150 bucks) and possibly pointless attempt at getting it fixed, I'm stuck with a partially ruined screen. I use LMT Launcher to sort the the issue partially.
Hi guys, I have the same problem on my Z3C. I just flashed it back to KitKat and it didn't work at all, in fact now I'm stuck at the first screen unable to chose between the languages because the soft keys screen part doesn't work. So I wouldn't recommend doing that.
had this problem too since 16 months old. to overcome I had activated assistive touch, auto-rotate and downloaded smarttouch (its free from play store). It was a hw prob and screen needs to be replaced.
another "fix": change the resolution from 720x1280 to 600x1000 (230 DPI). Looks crappy like my old sola, but at least I can use my phone. I use Window Manipulator.
found it here
http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperi...home-screen/m-p/1165534/highlight/true#M24637
can someone explain to me why this fix works?
I was playing around with my brother's z3c with same problem. To check if theres a hardware problem, I enabled "show touches" in developer options. I found out that the lower part of the screen (where the navigation buttons are) doesn't work. It missed the buttons by a few pixels. The "fix" SHP5 suggested works because it makes the navigation buttons bigger does getting inside the working part of the screen. The other work around (glove mode) works because it makes the touches bigger to compensate for the gloves does making the touches go inside the navigation bar area even when its detecting the touches a bit above.. This give me the idea of my workaround.
WORKAROUND:
-root
-install xposed
-install Xperia/AOSP NavBar module (z3c is not in the compatible devices but I tested and it works)
-enable module
-change navbar height to what works for you (mine is 120%)
-reboot
NOTE: might overlap other apps if nav bar is too high.
The phone is on 23.5.a.1.291 firmware. Root, Recovery and xposed are available in this firmware.
Please leave thanks if helpful....
It's not hardware! In recovery mode the keys are working without a problem! It just happened like this, I'm desperate...
