Allow me to take you Into the world of AT&T. Look at the previous just a little less than a month ago the galaxy S5 was the last one to get 5.0 it was also the last one to get the 4.x update. Look at the Note series it was one of the last ones to get the 5.0 update. Of course it will happen and of course we're impatient but rightfully so. We wait longer than anyone else.

I prefer a refined version with fewer bugs than getting it quickly. Heck, it seems they should have held off on lolipop till they got it right. As it stands they are now getting complaints from 2 sides rather than one.

Att isn't refining **** on the software, if anything they are bogging it down with bloatware and spyware. They just don't like pushing updates when they become available for some reason.

Given the known issues with 5.0 I feel carriers will push to get the patches out, hopefully 5.1.1 will roll out very quickly given the issues. I also think the Note 4 5.0 was put on hold, perhaps to go 5.1.1 instead to fix the known issues.

Umm.... Note 4 5.0 was rolled out on ATT quite some time ago. I've had my S6 since launch day, and my Note 4 probably had LP for around a month before I even switched. Aka 2 months ago.

You're right, they don't refine it. They test it, then make Samsung refine it. Then retest it again. Then release it after however many cycles it takes to approve the update refinements. Its not a matter of pushing updates when they become available, but about pushing them when they finally pass ATT quality control.

HAHAH, AT&T Quality Control is a complete joke. Go look at the posts on the S5 when they did the Upgrade to android 4.4.4. That was riddled with issues, mainly the home button always bringing up google now.

Don't need to go look at it..... I had the device. I did not experience those issues.
People take an extreme exaggeration on what they believe goes on behind the scenes and base it on their frustrations with a device or experience. Just because there was issues with a release does NOT mean they don't have a QC system in place. You're a fool if you think otherwise. That's like saying that because those Toyotas had the brake issue that Toyota doesn't implement a QC system... When Toyota basically invented the QC system.....

This really is nothing new..my job has AT&T and the S3 was months behind all the other carriers in the 4.x updates. The only time they were close was that big Samsung Christmas rush to make all phones Gear compatible...other than that OTAs are far and few between.

not sure if it can ruin a phone with awesome hardware out of the gate... if you are basing it solely on not receiving updates quickly then sure..
the locked bl is a pain but any phone person knows its best to wait and see if a device gets unlocked before purchasing it or its in turn partly your fault as well. You cant blame a carrier for making their devices to use on their network more secure for them.
i do agree it sucks, but its the way the cookie crumbles.. i am moving on from verizon s5 to another device that will b unlocked but its bcuz i like unlocked bl not bcuz of verizon as i cant blame them

Bootloader locked is fine, but we dont even have lollipop yet when all others do, which isnt a samsung issue, its directly an att issue. To me thats crap! All over the world its been out and we dont have a date announced yet.......never getting att again for sure. 5.1 is even out today lmao
We might get 5.1 on att somt me after 6.0 comes out

I've been through the variants of 5.x on my Nexus 7 and it's not been worth it. Maybe 5.1 will play out, too early to tell. I'd despise wasting the hardware resources of the GS5 to make up for bugs, just to pretty up the UI. I'd much rather have a stable base for something that I rely upon for *functionality* that while not life threatening is surely life inconveniencing when it's not working properly.
What disappoints me so much is that I had an s2 as well as an s3 on att and the dev communities there were amazing. I guess att locked the bl so that idiots don't brick the phone but they really killed off something great.

Cricket Wireless is even worse, though - they have no VoLTE/"HD voice", no Wi-Fi calling and no plans to enable these features on their network in any city any time soon.
Can anyone provide a point-by-point difference between the two other than "SM-N910T3 is just better"?
I've seen the question asked a few times in previous threads, reddit but I have not seen anything conclusive.
Also it seems the initial question becomes a quick after thought because it quickly delves into rooting questions, which I do not care about at this point.
I get that SM-N910T3 has 5.1.1. but what else? Heck even if its a best guess I'd love to hear it here.
For now this is what I got from Reddit:
pomidorable 2 points 14 days ago said:
Samsung likely changed suppliers for one or more of the key components (likely a cost reduction measure for a phone that's about to go out of production in a few months), and as such the ROM had to be altered to support it.

What was wrong with it that Samsung had to fix it? How did you get a newer phone and then your old phone back?
I ask because mine is starting throw fits like a stubborn mule and its really pissing me off. If it doesn't just lock up and freeze, its bt connections or dropped calls.
So the n910t3 is the developers edition?

Learned something new.. I was just had a long text chat with samsung suppoprt... it looks like the n910t3 may be the developer edition? they checked a few IMEI numbers / serial numbers and confirmed my device was developer edition which may explain the model number difference and may explain the 5.1.1 while n910t is left at 5.0.1 for now. Samsung also confirmed that Tmo has 5.1.1 and it's up to them to decide when / if to deploy it.

That's what Samsung told me over chat too. I have the chat saved. The rep also said I could go into a store and specifically request one (though I don't think that's right). I wonder why they're selling them? Possibly a large shipment was ordered in error? I wonder what the difference is aside from having 5.1.1. I know on the ROM development side of things, everything is mostly compatible.
I had that suspicion though too; I asked if it was an internal developer edition meant for testing updates before they're released to the public, and the Samsung rep reassured me that's exactly what it was. I wonder why they're for sale though.

My phone completely died. Turn around was about a week and a day.
Ok so about the SM-N910T3 compared to my previous 910T and what I've accidentally...
Ok so a few things I've accidentally noticed about my T3.
First off, Had to get my Note 4 replaced by T-mobile 2 days ago, they said it was on backorder, so I get a brand new Note 4 direct from Samsung and then I realized the registration screens looked slightly different, so I went to the settings menu, I'm like "Something doesn't feel right" so then I found it, 5.1.1 which I tried updating my 910T 3 days ago, and wouldn't go beyond 5.0.1 THEN found out it was the N910T3 that i Had just gotten.
After careful review on my old NOTE 4 to still send back, the glass on the Note 4 curves down INTO the walls around the edge of the phone. about 0.5mm depth, on the SM-N910T3 it doesn't. It curves down, but almost PERFECTLY LEVEL to the edge walls., ALSO haven't gotten to try the GPS thing yet, but mine worked FAIRLY well always anyways.
The OTHER major thing I've noticed, and this is WITHOUT the battery, since a charged battery weighs slightly more than an uncharged one.
119g for the SM-N910T vs 123g for the SM-N910T3 == 4grams difference in weight? S-pen is the same, both with a sim card and microSD card, no battery. Hardware upgrade?
I said screw it in the end and ponied up to buy a new one. I swear to gawd every employee looked at me crossed eyed when I told them I didn't want to buy the Note 5.
I must have gotten the last normal note 4 then through warranty because that is what they sent me. I called Tmobile and tried to get it resolved but they told me to contact Samsung (I did) and they told me they were just going to fix my phone and I'd be without one for about 10 days.
As for differences I did notice the extra option at boot up too. My GPS seems to lock a lot faster. I will have to keep playing with it though to verify as I haven't had much time to go through it yet but I will say the Samsung Smart Switch was very nifty in getting my settings transferred over.

Google does the update and then sends it to Samsung for testing. IF Samsung decides the update is worthy and fits into their business plan for the life of the phone, they will test the update and correct things that are specific to the S6. IF that is completed then they send the update to Verizon, who in turn, decides if it fits in their business plan and the planned end of life for the product. If Verizon decides to pass it along then they update the code with their specifics and then they release it to the phones.
All of that has to go good before we knaves might see an update.
Unfortunately Android updates and timeline does not fit into the end of life plans for phones by the carriers. That is why we usually only get one or two updates.
Just saw this while searching online tonight.

Just wanted to see if devs are still going to be developing for this device with all the issues that are STILL happening apparently. It's such a shame because I absolutely love this phone. TEKs and OVERDRIVE roms looked real promising. I would just to keep a phone for 2 years if of developing is going to die off.
well considering a 2nd recall by samsung will most likely happen within the next few days according to t-mo. i would say the development for the n7 is done period. i got a feeling the n7 won't be back on the market after this either. samsung will probably scrap em all and move on to the s8 or even the note8 which will most likely need to be renamed as this whole thing has literally damaged the notes name.

The Note4 is my daily driver again, took back my replacement Note 7 yesterday.
It's basically got all the functionality where it really matters, the S-Pen.
The other features that were heavily marketed were of no consequence to me.
I definitely notice the difference between the two as for overall performance, but, it's not an awful experience by any stretch.
Throw your ROM of choice on the Note4 & ya got yourself a very comparable experience.

My phone before this was actually a note 4 and the only reason I went to a note 7 was because my phone was stolen. I was running abstrak rom (now discontinued). I'm probably going to see what mm roms they have for it now. Since I have to purchase another note 4, it will probably be on mm and I dont even know if it's rootable. My old note 3 and 4 were excellent phones, it just pisses me off that Samsung stops updates for older phones basically forcing you to upgrade phones. That being said, I'm sure the note 4 will never get a future update.
And, lights out.......

You guys believe a Note 7 V3 will ship with rootable firmware?
I seriously doubt it, we caught a lucky break on this one & some on V2 were left out in the cold w/a phone dead for development.
It's a nice phone without root, Package Disabler apps help a lot, along with a decent Ad Blocker, but, not enough for Round 3 on the exact same phone.
I'll check in on the next iteration, the Note 8,or whatever they'll call it.....

I've got a T-Mobile Note4, a perfectly decent daily driver.
However, I'm a recovering phone ho', the LG V20 is next on my list (returned my Note7 V2 for a refund two days ago)

Wow, not sure what phone to move on to if I was to move on. Been rocking notes since they came out. Got a note 4 but the screen needs to be fixed
I wish T-mobile will get the new Google phone. I will definitely get the pixel.

When Samsung has a major fiasco they recall all the product gather all the staff in the court house and destroy the product in front of them and the manager of that department is then banned from the company for life. Korean custom. Not only did the guy lose his job he disgraced his Family for generation to come. Going back to Note 7 the product is being discontinued it was announced in German newspapers today
GREAT!! *sarcasm*
My Note 5 was messing up and I got the 7 for the upgrade.
I'll have to debate this, as mine was one of the ones that wasn't a replacement or recalled. But with no rooting ability, or way to drop back a version to gain root...might have to go back to the Note 5.
I never even attempted to try the software update. I didn't like the stupid green battery icons or grouped notifications. I still have my v2 on original release firmware with updates blocked. I like the phone uprooted but I do not like the current software for it. It's a shame because I love phone otherwise, but without future root to make those small tweaks on the v3, I think I'll wait until I find something I really like. I've always been a Samsung guy that being said I'm not a real Fan of pure Google type phones. For some reason I really like touchwiz (ya I know).
As I said this will be my second time returning this phone. And right now there's no phone in the market that comes near this phone. I don't know if to return it or what. I'm at a lost here. Sdcard, spen slick and so many more feature.
I feel your pain. Always on display, water resistance, spen. I dont know what else to get.
I feel the same way! but we have not been given allot of choices

I can't give it up even if I wanted too bought off Craigslist and no on will help me so f it I'm keep the beast wish me luck
V20 is the only option but good thing I'll hold on to my baby till it releases.
This whole fiasco almost looks to me like a sabotage or complete incompetence among engineers. Do they actually know what the problem is? Because apparently it is not what they said it was. So what happens if the phone gets stolen or lost?
Ya this phone is just premium in every way. I dont even think a v20 will be as badass as this phone. I'm holding on to mine until some more info is released
Anyone heard about Asus zenfone3 deluxe? Can it be close to V20

There isn't a phone out the van hold an Spen to the Note 7. Anything LG makes is crap. The other iphoney is not anything special. I'm holding on to mine. Samsung hasn't released a statement about halting the note 7. I'll hold on to this phone until I wanna give it up. If it blows up, so be it. That's my choice.

Seems to me this issue started soon after pulling the battery process to their internal plants instead of outsourcing to reputable manufacturers. Looks like it was a corner cutting, cost saving routine. But look how much it's costing them now. Seems they took this process for granted instead of making a quality product they screwed themselves so hard, the note line could be cursed. The upcoming S8, I won't be an adopter, watch everyone else get burned just like we are now.
Yea I plan on holding on to mine too. I been thinking all day what phone could I replace it with and I literally came up with nothing. I got a few cases on the way, 256 gb sd card is on the way, gear vr on the way ????

Just read occulus abandon the note 7 vr...so if you receive that pretty lil thing make sure auto update is not check
yah and remember this phone is not compatible with tmobile 256QAM network yet. tmobile has to push that update. if they stop support, note 7 owners will not be getting updates. i returned both my rooted v2s today. didn't have a choice.

Nothing..
I originally had my note 4 on ebay for sale and had maybe 10 offers. Pulled off the listing and decided to keep it.

Yea I still have my note 4 but the screen and the digitizer is broken.
Yea, I took mine back today, never thought it could be so hard to part with phone, like others have said, I went back to my note 4, lg v20 is an option, but after having the 7, not sure if I can convince myself to be happy with any other phone.

This touchscreen is failing constantly. I've never had a phone with so much defects. I'm gonna call them tomorrow and ask for a replacement. This is ridiculous.
