[Q] Charging with output 2.0A charger any faster? - Sprint HTC One (M7)

Guys my HTC one and probably every one else's is shipped with output 1.0 charger.
I was wondering if any one knows or has experience with 2.0a charger?
My Nexsus7 charger is 2.0A and I would like to use it to charge my HTC one but I am
want to make sure and ask around if that would damage my battery? and if that will
charge my phone any faster?
Thanks in advance!!

Not an electrician, but from my understanding, the phone will only draw the power it needs. So, it should be safe although it won't charge the phone faster.

I use my N7 charger on my m7 all the time.

Can you please tell me if you feel it charges any faster than the original HTC charger or about same?

Solar powered battery chargers?

I see this solar powered battery charger on dealextreme, but are there any other better options? Like waterproof or made more specifically for our IncS with micro-usb.

i dont use it as my daily driver.. just in case of emergency.. but it charges pretty fast and it charges till 40-50%... right now its kept in some corner... but i charge it through usb rarely use solar...
all the solar chargers i found so far only charge with an output of 80mAh, so once the battery pack is empty its actually useless.
i think its better to buy a batterypack without the solar charger because it wont be much help.
I think solar charger cannot give enough voltage for phone. I think it just an option to make your phone battery not drain out.
just buy one of those powerbanks, relatively cheap and charge as fast as a wall adapter.
i dont think the solar charger is necessery for common user

Voltage isn't the issue. You'd just use a boost converter to bump it up to 5V. Every battery pack like the powerbank and similar includes such a circuit, as they either use a 3.7V li-ion (or li-poly, or similar) or a pair of alkalines (1.5Vx2).
The issue is getting enough current to charge something meaningfully.

It doesn't matter which one that you buy... Sprint added a regulator to the HTC One that limits the amperage to like 600 MA (.6 A) so even if you get a 2A charger, the phone won't charge any faster. There was a thread on this, too late to go find it.
I noticed that I started with a full battery and drove for 8 hours straight that even on a car charger that I was actually using more battery than what the charger was putting out so by the end of the trip was at like 60%. But to be fair, was using GPS with the screen on...

using a mytouch wall plug to charge htc one

will this impact my battery in any negative way besides maybe slower charging? if thats the case its fine as i charge my phone over night anyways but i just want to make sure its not harming my battery as i cant find my original wall plug
on the wallplug it says
input 100-240V~200mA 50-60Hz
output 5V____1A
If anyone could maybe compare these numbers to their original wallplug maybe that would make me feel a little better
thanks guys
The simple answer is no. The slower the charge the longer the battery will last infact. That's why HTC didn't allow fastcharge, because our batteries aren't removable.

A 2 Amp charger mean its capable of giving max 2A to a load, the phone only needs 1A so will only use 1A even on a 2A charger

Original charger, always
But i have charged my phone with a samsung 2A charger a few times , and the charge speed was near twice , so the phone does not use just 1A

It was for my friend`s Galaxy Note 3 , he does not have the phone any more but I will find the charger and pm you for the model
The phone can handle it but the 1a is the suggested and anything more can damage the hardware. I have a rapid charger that will charge my battery to full in about 30 min from 0. It works on the stock kernel so it is not a custom kernel option. And the fast charge is a pc USB setting if you read the discripition.

Really? I've always heard that the phone knows only to pull 1A from the available amperage. I've always heard that using something less than 1a can damage the cord and possibly the charger itself.
Also: Using fast charge can seriously degrade your battery over time. Better to only use it when in a pinch.

That's why I said it can damage the device. Mine is a stand alone charger so no damage to the cord.
I only use it when I really need to. Like when I have kill the battery as well as the Mophie pack and am in the middle of nowhere and need to make a fast call.

I see what you are saying. I read it differently earlier for some reason. Actually: I know the reason. I've been severely sleep deprived the past several months and have been experiencing sleep paralysis the last several months two or three times per week. Thank God I'm getting a sleep study done soon! My level of alertness is way down from what it used to be... Sorry to get off topic with that stuff, but I felt the need to explain.

Yeah it's not good for battery life. If you want to get the most out of the battery I wouldn't do it

While I would tend to think HTC would be smarter then to skimp on the hardware. I will error on then side of caution and say no. You "could" mess up the port and the board.
My Htc one M7 is charging in about 3-4 hours, from 0% to 100% with original charger and cable, it's ok?

Wrong So Wrong
Fact with stock kernel htc one m7 charges nearly 20 mins quicker
there are pro's and cons to this unless used at the right time in the right situation
sick of people saying it will harm it or that it is there to use only 1a
first of all the stock charger allows 500ma of charging and 500ma for the phones consumption whilst charging
when turned off it should only charge at 700ma
a flaw that was left on purpose by htc for monetary gain
holding fast charge and even full charge capabilities back widens the gap between the m7 and the m8
making people want to buy the m8 charger or better the m8
here's why and how they hold it back on it's full speed charging with !!!!!!!the stock HTC charger
Here is the explanation
The best way I have ever heard it put is like this
Where current is water
Imagine a water barrel that is being filled up at a rate of 1 liter an hour
The barrel has a over flow pipe aka battery if this pipe is only wide enough for half a liter an hour and you turn the tap filling the barrel to 10 liter an hour how much is the over flow receiving still half a liter.
So here is the big if and but
If you are using a 2.1a 5.1v ipad charger
Whilst gaming you have the CPU GPU and battery making heat and thus degrading Battery life and performance
If you turn the m7 off or have all apps closed and phone idle then this is far better than gaming with the stock m7 charger
as heat is the NO1. killer for battery depletion
As for comments about voltage of other chargers are irrelevant as the circuit in the phone limits voltage with a simple I/0 circuit if voltage is either under or over pre set parameters it will do nothing as it won't allow any flow of current at all
Unless lots bigger (BANG)
How is the current limited
Self explanatory as the charger states what it is built to supply
Conclusion is simple amps are limited by the charger plug or USB port
Voltage is not limited but safe gaurded by the phone so if your phone registers a charge with a 5.3v plug then it is fine as long as you use it sensibly
Apps are highly unreliable as they are a close prediction at best
And don't correctly include what is used by the phone
Also some current will be being stored all the time in capacitors
Fact the m7 charges quicker with higher ampage application measuring ampage will not be accurate.
The only accurate way is to time it from empty turned off
And blind people who say HTC know best do not understand the workings of any multinational corporation
By holding the fast charge back widens the gap between the m7 and m8 meaning more people will go and buy the m8 fast charger or even better the m8

What's the fastest way to charge the M7 ?

Dear all, As you can see from the title I want to know what's currently the fastest way to charge the HTC One M7, The supplied HTC charger which comes when you purchase the phone charges the phone way too slow, takes almost 3 full hours to charge from 0 - 100% and when you are using your phone at the same time it tends to charge even slower hence extending the 3 hour time required for a full charge. I know that HTC has released some sort of new charger that is meant to charge up the device a lot more quickly but I am not sure whether that one is compatible with the M7 or only with the newer HTC devices.
Also, if that charger is not compatible then are there any other 3rd party chargers compared to the HTC's own charger that will charge up the device more quickly ? The HTC's own charger is 1A whereas some on the market are 2.4A etc
Please any suggestions as to what charger is faster and more effective also please send links where I can purchase it.
Thanks.
You want a 2.0amp charger and a 24/28awg USB cable. That will shorten the time to about less two hours . you won't get quick charging ability but it will be an improvement.
Dear @eosman
Many thanks for your reply, can I kindly ask you to provide me with any links that you may have about the 2amp chargers which are good in your viewpoint for the M7. Also im not quite sure what cable you are talking about so if you can send me a link to for example eBay or Amazon where sellers may be selling these cables. As I might want to buy.
Thank you!
HTC Rapid Charger for M7. U can find em on HTC.com or Amazon. It states that it will charge this phone up to 40% faster than stock oem charger.. and it actually does..
@ bdizzle 1686,
Thanks for your reply.
Yes I have heard about the HTC Rapid Charger 2.0 however, I have seen some other chargers also that are much higher in Amp than this one so question is will that charge the device even faster?
This HTC Rapid Charger is only 1.65A/ 1.25A in output whereas there are some chargers that go up to 2.4A so are those an even better choice or should you avoid them because there is a chance they can harm the device ?
Please let me know.

The rapid charger will be a big improvement compared to the 1.0amp stock charger. Going from 1.65amps to 2.0 amps will get you a 'little' bit more but the HTC M7 will only charge so quickly. Anything over 2.0 is useless for the M7. HTC only allows the M7 to be charged at a certain amperage to prevent the battery from being damaged/ overheating.
@eosman,
Can I please ask you to send me links to Amazon or eBay website whereby I can get this rapid charger 2.0. I have found many but they aren't HTC original product they are just third party chargers.
So if you find any decent priced and its original htc product then please send me a link.
Thanks for the information regarding the charging, I also kinda realized that anything over 2A would be useless as i tried a charger which was 2.4A and there wasn't much improvement in charge time as compared to 2.1A maybe. Also the rapid charges supports Qualcomm Quick Charge which is again a plus point to use with smartphones which use in-built Qualcomm processor chips.
