Was thinking about getting a white leather Dbrand skin for the back of my white Moto X phone. Does it really feel like leather? I have never used Dbrand before but they look pretty good from what I can tell....

They are vinyl and they feel like vinyl, not leather. I think the white leather ones look pretty fake based on pics I have seen online.
FYI - slickwraps makes similar skins and you get 20% if you sign up for their emails. The back only is $9 before the discount. They have a small shipping charge too.

I had the black leather one on my nexus 4 and it does not feel like leather at all. One of the reasons I went with the moto x so I could get real leather built in.

Just got my Moto X 2014 and the leather is so cheap and thin. Im so scared this is not going to last long. Why did Motorola use such a thin piece of leather? It also looks cheap.
Hey, I was wondering if the leather was thin or cheap?
Personally, I've had my black leather Moto X for a few weeks now, and I'm quite impressed at the quality of the leather. I guess my expectations were set when I had the wood back on the 2013 Moto X and took the back off to see the wood was probably around a millimeter thick. I guess I don't see them using more than 1-2mm for the back of the phone when it's 9.9 mm thick to begin with.
As for how well it will hold up over 2 years, that I can see a concern over... but I was willing to take the chance.
Did you want a big thick hunk of leather sticking out over the sides of the phone?
how do you know how thin it is? did you take the back off? This is horween leather, which is the same tannery that makes the leather for NFL official footballs. I really don't think this is cheap leather. Personally I am extremely pleased with the overall look of my leather back. If you want it to last 2 years, you just have to take really good care of it. Personally I am done letting people hold my phone because for some reason when I tell them it is leather they can't help but dig their nails into it. Also if you think the leather looks cheap, why did you order a leather back? there have been plenty of pictures floating around the web that clearly show how the leather looks.
Im just use to the old leather battery doors that Blackberry Bolds had. Its thin I can see it between the cam. I do love the phone. Just wish maybe I would of held off on the leather. Also the gold accents you cant see the color. I should of went with a brigter color.
What do you mean you can see it between the cam? Pretty sure there is a return policy if you are that unhappy with it

Have had mine for a couple weeks now and no issues here. It is holding up great and feels great. Personal preference I guess.
I have been loving my leather back. I seen reviewers say it scars easy and stuff like that. Mine seems to heal it's self of like creases when something is pressed against it. Though I am sure it would not fare well to scrapes from something rough like a stone or concrete...but then again I don't plan on hitting the back of my phone with those objects.
I was thinking about getting a Moto X 2014 and was wondering what the plastic back cover is like?
I do not want the leather since it quick gets used and not into wood so plastic is the default choice for me.
I could find any details as to the Moto X 2014 back plastic cover feels, looks like up close and is it sued like or is it a hard plastic feel like the 2013?
Did anyone order the back cover in plastic and how is it?
I have the black back and it has a soft touch coating. It has a mild rubbery feel too it almost. It's great.

Thanks Metalhead! Just what I wanted to know!
Do you find the phone quite slippery to hold?
Its nice to hold but it feels way to easy to drop. I was hoping the black back would have been a bit more grippy.

Exactly! I found it to be an ideal material for phone because it's very solid, not prone to scratches and far more durable than leather or wood.
And it's look good, not cheap. This is not plastic, like iPhone 3gs back but polycarbonate.

Thanks for seconding that it solid not cheap and well made. I thinking of going all "White" on the Moto X! Kind of had it with the all black models. LOL! I might be sorry and be clean it a lot but it suppose to be a trendy type phone anyways - fashion and all so I going go all out - fashion wise! Of course; when I order; I probably be conservative and go all black again! That the only two colors I know; so motomaker does not seem to change my mind any!

I went all black with mine, but I'm thinking about exchanging it for black leather with either green or blue accents. I'm kinda getting tired of all black phones too.
I went all black : because you cannot see sensors of the front side. White model looks ugly because of this.
Plastic is solid

Got mine today. White/white. Not slippery.
I'm coming from an S4, and this feels much more solid and permanent. Feels thicker, but of course I don't know that, because I can't take off the back. But it certainly does not feel cheap, compared to the S4. (Maybe not a fair comparison, as S4's back was made to come off, which I liked. So for me it's a trade off.)
Does anyone know if there are difference variants of the black leather backing? I see one Verizon version on ebay that is a pebbled leather (looks nice) and then theres the standard smooth leather that seems to come from ordering directly from Motorola.
I would prefer the pebbled look. Reminds me of the old Blackberry Bold.
All input in appreciated.
I think that was a special "football" leather edition just for Verizon. Of course that is more reddish than pure black.

It's not the football leather. It's a very subtle pebble leather. I messaged Motorola and they just told me there is no pebble leather available at this time. Wouldn't tell me if there was ever a PL available or not. If you search the Moto X Leather for VZW on ebay you will see. It's a nice leather and I really want one, but it's only a 16gb, i want 32. guess I might just settle.
I'm just hoping it;s not a variant or refurb.

There never was a pebbled leather in black. I seached ebay and don't see it either.
The black leather has texture to it but it is not pebbled.
I'd love to see some examples. I've always hated cases but have never used a skin.

Im waiting for my Black Leather DBrand skin to arrive whrn it does Ill update this post...
I have a matte ghost armor front and back.
It shows off the beauty of the phone, makes it less slippery and makes it WAY less of a fingerprint magnet and protects it just enough for me...
Cost 50$ installed but comes with lifetime reinstalls.
I have sandstone case on my OP3. It feels really good. I'm thinking to my self another one. Black apricot or Kevlar. Anyone have them both? Which do u like better an which one have better grip.
I really like the Apricot one but never got the chance to get it yet, if you do decide on it please post pictures and your thoughts!

I bought Kevlar one. I heard that black apricot is pretty slippery. We will see about Kevlar one.
I did take car charger also:good:
well i prefer kevlar...cause i love the pattern...
Black apricot is grippier than people say it is (nowhere close to sandstone tho), it looks great from far away but up close looks kinda cheap IMO. I still like it because I'm a sucker for wood phones (even when it's fake wood) but unless you're really into that type of thing I'd go with the kevlar.
Then I guess I did the right thing because I bought Kevlar. Will see how I will like it over sandstone.
I had the sandstone and Kevlar when I had my 3. I preferred Kevlar as it almost had a rubbery feel to it and felt a little thicker than the sandstone. Kevlar also looked really good on the phone. It would be nice if there was a good leather option.
I did see that Toastmade has a wood skin now available for the 3 as well for those that want a real wood skin cover.

I have the black apricot case and i say that it is very slippery indeed.. Beautiful cover, minimal to zero protection and very slippery!

Tbh I wouldn't get another one of those cases. I got the sandstone and kevlar and my phone has little scratches on the sides where the case doesn't protect and I have no idea how they got there.
For asthetics the cases are great but if you want protection then go for it and i'd say the black apricot I mean the kevlar is nice but uts a fingerprint oil magnet
I just got Dash Car Charger and Kevlar back case.
It really has some soft touch to it. It feels really nice. It has kinda rubber feeling and it not slippery. But of course don't have so much grip like sandstone.
So I think I did choose good. I'm happy with my choice.
Dash charger looks really nice to.
Definitely kevlar
I got sandstone and Kevlar, Kevlar is far better in my opinion
