Dropped my s5 with the otter box on and it cracked the screen. Now at random the screen flashes especially when charging. Anyone with the same issue ?

My first 2 Nook Colors experienced ghosts touching the screen while doing nothing. My 3rd had a flake of dust(metal?) under the glass when I took it out of the box. 4th time is the charm? Just got home and I'm seriously not sure if I can handle a 5th time back to BN to replace this thing.
Anyone else with ghosts tapping on the screen?
Are you plugged in? The nook has a bit of a grounding issue and it causes ghost taps while plugged in.
It would do it either way. I don't really use it while plugged in though. Got it to store manuals for equipment I work on(lab coolers, freezers, incubators, hvac, etc)
So basically its used onsite or while I'm sitting in my work van.
One more thing... might be related. I had it usually in the case(not always) and the case I had was the Sullivan Easel. Which, like most, has the plastic clip in retainer thingy majjig.
http://gifts.barnesandnoble.com/Sullivan-Easel-Cover/e/9781616837181/?cds2Pid=3617
I swear that plastic retainer part on the left side is what would pop up the bezel and then you could see light come through. And just maybe, maybe, that was also causing the ghost touches. I don't really know....
So I returned the case and just picked up a black silicone case and screen protector.

The guy at the B&N store said you can get ghosting if you crank the brightness up.
i was getting a ton of phantom taps when i first got my NC, to the point where it was almost unusable. I would wipe the screen of any moisture or prints and it would go away for about 5 minutes until fingerprints and moisture from my hands started to make the screen freak out again.
I put a screen protector on about a week ago, and it's like a whole new device. The screen still isn't very sensitive around the edges, buttons often dont work on the edge of the screen (especially at the top) but I haven't had a phantom tap yet. Seriously, try putting on a screen protector - it turned my NC from useless to awesome for like 5 bucks.
Update: Seems to be working great so far with the screen protector and silicone case.
BTW screen brightness was usually at ~50%.

The cause is normally from your fingerprints that's left on the screen since the screen is so sensitive. Does the screen protector takes care of the problem real good? And is it easy to install?

I use a screen protector also. Without one, i get phantom taps all the time.
Screen protector was bought from BN and was pricey. Came with 2. Can't remember who suggested it but, turn shower on in bathroom and let it run for 10 minutes with door closed. The moisture in the air will 'drop out' all the lint/dust. Shut off shower for 5 minutes and then apply protector.
This is what I do and it works great for all my devices.
Its been 24 hours with the screen protector and silicone case. No ghosts yet.

When holding the Nexus 7 (portrait mode) and applying slight pressure on each side, the screen turns off and only returns when I remove the pressure. Am I the only one experiencing this?
I've uploaded a quick video demonstrating this:

P.S. it's not the screen issue that everyone else is talking about, is it?
Take off the back and try reseating any loose cables.

What would be the best tool to open it with? I don't have a flat screwdriver thin enough to open it up.

The first time I opened my Nexus, I used an insurance card. The second and subsequent times, I actually used a NYC metrocard.

I reported this problem to Google and they sent me a replacement which worked perfectly - however when I put it in my wallet it had the same problem. The original Nexus also worked perfectly out of the wallet. I determined that the problem was the autosleep sensor which is triggered by the magnet in the wallet cover when it is closed. However if the wallet cover is opened and folded flat behind the Nexus the magnet is close to the sensor but at the back of the Nexus; since the magnet is still pretty close to the sensor it is triggered when the lower left of the screen is pressed (where the sensor is).
The solution for my wallet was to fold the cover into a triangle using the folds - this also makes the wallet easier to hold.
I still very occasionally get the problem when I move the magnet so I think that the sensor is a bit too sensitive.

You're exactly right!
I noticed just minutes ago the screen turning off immediately after I put down the device. It did this several times w/o a "problem", so I became worried and looked for the answer to this problem online. When I saw your post and read the word "magnet" a little light went on in my head -- I was placing the device on the loudspeaker! Apparently, the sensor in the back was picking the magnetism from within the loudspeaker enclosure (i.e. from the tweeter driver magnet)
Phew! First screen glass going loose, now this with screen going off -- I was getting real worried these Nexuses were cursed
Heh same thing started happening to me, thought the onboard graphics was faulty until I found this thread. Turns out it was the magnet on my case causing it, and getting a bit worn in that it's touching the back of my nexus now!
Same happens to me, I'm just about to exchange it, not sure if i should anymore.

Same happens to me this evening for the first time in 3 days
Happened when I got a new case, I just fold it so its not close to the sensor. I will exchanged my first nexus because of dead pixels and my new one does the same thing. I'm using the Hip street rotating case.

put your phone in an oven and go in with it. heat it up to 100 degrees for 30 min. see what happens. might work lol
First things first, I freaking love this phone!
However, I've had this phone since it came out and I already have like 2 small scratches on the screen. I had my iPhone 5 for almost a year and didn't ever scratch the screen. Has anyone else had issue with the screen easily scratching? It's pretty disappointing but 100% my fault I guess. I haven't dropped it or anything.
I put a screen protector on it the same day I got it so I didn't get any scratches at all.

I can tell my 6 month old X screen is getting dull. It was more yellow than before. Is there a way or an app that can restore the screen to its original color? Please speak with your experience and thanks!

From what I read, omoled screens will disintegrated over time. Just the nature of it. But if you got the phone with a dull screen from the get go, screen probably was not calibrated correctly from assembly. In that case, I don't know of a calibration app. Don't know if exists. Best to do a warranty exchange.

If you used a wet application screen protector, replace it. Gets yellow over time. Dry application ones don't really have this issue in my experience. Prob went through 45-50 screen protectors in the past 3 years. I used to change phones way too often =P
