Yes but it doesn't really work well. Himalaya doesn't have resistive screen, so it's just a hack to detect double touch (not more!).
If you want to observe how it exactly works open Notes and put one finger on the left side and another on right. Now try to move those finders down. You will get one continous line at center of the screen.
Try it

Yeah i know. the hima does have a resistive screen, it doen't have a capacitive screen. Otherwise we would have multi touch.

Short Story:

Yesterday I bought Google Nexus from my local MacMall (Chicago), and I was pretty stoked. The first thing I noticed upon opening it was that the box had been re-sealed. Then I tried to turn it on and the battery was dead. I thought that was kind of unusual, but not unheard of. Then I charged it and turned it on...
Below are pictures describing what I saw. I am going to exchange the device this afternoon. I was wondering if anyone has ever seen something like this and would anyone be interested in playing around with this ROM. I would imagine it is a proprietary ASUS build, but they sold it to me so it's mine now. I would be happy to post a link to the ROM, but I don't know how to extract it. (I'm sure there is a post explaining that, please direct me to it).
Here are links to the pictures:

Do NOT return this! This is a very good find! Maybe if you could unlock the bootloader and make a Nandroid backup in CWM...
Perhaps stick it on ebay as a Buy It Now for the price it would cost you to order another one...
That way if it is truly interesting to someone, they have to opportunity of putting up (or shutting up).
No do not unlock it yet, it will erase everything. Do a system image dump. There is a toolkit in the developers section. Post it in there.
Also i noticed its running ICS
Don't send it back yet, let the devs get what they need

The devs don't need anything from this unless you actually want to DOWNGRADE your device.
We can build AOSP from source, we don't need this build for anything at all.

I thought someone here might want this, but I have to return it today (it is for my wife). I'm "good with puters" so I can follow instructions well, but I've never rooted or jailbroken anything in my life. I'm at work so I don't have lots of time to search forums for the proper instructions. If someone really wants this, you have about two hours to post instructions for me to backup or image or whatever it is called a copy of this ROM before I return it. I'll check back every five.
I am downloading the Root Toolkit now

I'm not really sure what you mean by "raise issues or faults". It's hard to show, but when I drag my finger accross the screen, it draws a line with many dots and H and V coordinate lines. That was a horrible description. Basically, it looks like it is mapping the touchscreen feedback and then rendering a line. The line quickly disappears. The white and red boxes at the top of the screen acually have numbers written on them and those numbers change as you touch the screen. There is also like a red Frame the flashes on the screen when I select an app. I will try to post some some pictures/maybe a video. My phone sucks though so the quality wont be that good.

It appears to have test apps not included in AOSP.
You should try to cold boot to recovery from the bootloader and see if it'll go without being hooked up to a computer. Maybe the bootloader is different than production.
Can't he try flashing the stock rom over this? If there are no hardware faults, why risk getting one that might be defective?
What would devs need from this ... This isn't a Samsung / HTC device

Please do a nandroid. Tests have shown ICS has better raw performance than JB. I would love to see an ICS ROM on these at least to just test it out.

Hello all
I have a problem. I've installed miniCM10 JB 4.1.1. Everything was fine. I got smooth scrolling and my favorite game fruit ninja was running well. But as I set min CPU level to 245 to avoid the black screen bug, when unlocking, somthing whent wrong I think. I stared to have, buttons highligts, as thay are not touched. Picture scrambles, for a second for time to time. And fruit ninja has a heavy, I mean heavy lag. The game itself is running smooth, but touches appear after 3 to 5 seconds later. And some times touches are even not detected. I've experemented with various of options, in performance and developer options menu, no success. The menus and the ui are running smooth.
After that, i've restored the stock rom, via flash tool and stock kernel. Updated the phone via PC Companion, the phone running well, but even with the stock rom, I am getting the touch problem. Way ligher then it was in JB but is there. I've deleted any ext partitions on the sd card. Then flashed the alfs 8 kernel and installed GingerDX as it running perfectly on my phone, and the lag is the same as JB in fruit ninja. Other runnig smooth. Screen view is moving, even in recovery. Like you are not fixed your tv antena, and the picture is not centered but is shifted to the middle of the screen. In the upper side I see the bottom of the screen, if you can understand what I mean. So I am feeling that I have some hardware issue I guess. Any ideas.
Thank you very much.
I think that its a h/w issue.
Take your phone to SE.
Yes, it is a hardware problem......I had the same problem - lag in touches, random touches etc. and now the touch is not working at all.:crying:
Your best option is sending it to Sony....:good:

Final conclusion: CPU is dead...
That escalated rather quickly
Escalated for good. Now I am waiting my new XPERIA ACTIVE
Fist off, huge thanks to these people:
-Ryuinferno - His init.d on any device method
-Matt on code.google.com - Old touch driver and temp install method
Disclaimer:
-I am not responsible for any damage this may cause.... (You've seen this a billion times so I'll leave it at that)
NOTE: This mod causes touch to be unresponsive for about 30 seconds on boot up!
What this does:
-Enables init.d by adding a command into install-recovery.sh to run anything in /system/etc/init.d (method by Ryuinferno)
-Extracts the E015 driver to /system for safe keeping and script usage (E015 is a downgrade of the touch driver that senses touch better)
-Adds an init.d script that changes the touchscreen driver to E015 on every boot (driver supplied by Matt and so was the temp-replace method. It runs his method on every boot essentially.)
-Sends log to /data/Driver.log so user can check proper installation if desired
The advantage of using this over using a kernel with E015 in it is that it does not mess with custom recovery touch sensing.
Instructions:
-THIS WILL NOT WORK UNLESS BUSYBOX IS INSTALLED! You can install it with this app.
-Download the zip from here
-Flash it in a custom recovery. If you don't know how to flash a recovery / root / flash a zip, there are plenty of tutorials floating around.
If you want to undo this:
-Flash this zip through recovery.
Enjoy!
thanks.. works well but the disadvantage of this is that everytime you reboot your phone is not responsive for 5 - 10 seconds.
Touch is far more sensitive. I can no longer rest my finger on the home button without it triggering although PSR values are still the same with lowest I got being 0.36
also can you please provide a revert .zip to remove all changes? I don't want to have to reflash my ROM if I no longer want the mod. Thanks.

Thanks for this. I'll wait for a revert as this hasn't been much of a concern for me since I got used to it, but it's great to see this development today. I'm sure a number of folks are thrilled.
Just to confirm, this would qualify as an add-on to any kernel, correct? I noticed you mentioned the advantage of this over kernels with the new sensitivity but reading on your description it appears this will not replace your kernel?

It's not a kernel, it's essentially a script that runs on boot.
Revert going up in the next hour
Not only does e015 fix the touchscreen responsiveness, it also fixes the issue where if the phone is connected to an a/c powered usb port, the touchscreen responsiveness is even more degraded.
yea but I've noticed a few bugs with it already (touch being registered as pressed for about 4 seconds longer than my finger) as well as it is making my swiftkey lag behind so I'll probably revert until an official fix is in the works/made.

This made mine unresponsive for around 30 seconds, it's random also, and makes the touchscreen unresponsive in recovery for around a minute.
Doesn't really seem to make any difference to the sensitivity on my phone either so I guess different phones have different sensitivity? Or I don;t notice the difference.
Using the revert zip didnt do anything so I had to revert to a nandroid backup.
Definitely feels like its improved! Hopefully its not just placebo

I checked mine as well, still mostly in 5s but a few in the 3s. Even the 5 presses would've never registered in the past, huge difference.

This is awesome! It's absolutely more sensitive than stock. Taps are still in the .50's a lot, but I can get them in the .20's. However, ignoring the numbers, the absolute lightest taps are now registering so I'm thrilled with this
Thanks OP!
EDIT: Also, it's so sensitive that I can use my fingernail to tap and swipe (I'm a guy with short nails, so this wouldn't work for someone with longer nails). Even still, such a big difference because this wasn't possible with the original driver.
A few questions...
1) Does the "undo" zip work?
2) Okay to use with any ROM, correct (running stock 4.2.1 odexed)
3) OP: Any idea on the temporary freeze at each initial boot?
If im not reading this wrong, the "fix" uses an OLDER driver ? (i find it funny each time something is fixed by going back in time)
Hi,
1. So i was on xenon HD and started experiencing touch sensitivity issues where in lock screen did not respond or opened up google now instead of unlocking.
2. So I thought of switch over and flashed PAC and was really satisfied as I also got my GPS working. But the very next day it started to behave unusually and the home button of navbar kept on activating all by itself hence taking me out of any app or even app drawer.
Thought of it as ROM issue and decided would flash the latest version sometime later as my net was down.
3. Used liquidsmooth but the same problem of intermittent home button and back button too started and I had to switch off the phone within 5 minutes of flshing liquidsmooth.
4. Finally thought of getting 4.1.2 and hence flashed holoblur. By this time navbar went numb :crying:. Didn't respond to anything.
5. Restored to the stock ROM. But still navbar is not working.
Just hoping that this is not hardware related issue:fingers-crossed:. Would really hate to part away from this phone.
Please help out guys.
EDIT : So the navbar just started responding by itself. But still not perfect. Sometimes it does sometimes it doesn't.

Completely flash a stock fast boot. Issue could be kernel related. If the issue persists after a fully wiped stock flash this is a hardware issue. As is, issue sounds more like either bad settings from dirty flashing or kernel issues. The stock ROMs don't come with kernels, if your last 4.2.2 ROM had a bad kernel, same bad kernel is more than likely being used. I recommend flashing Mex Retail.

The navbar works fine sometimes before again going into madmode. So i really doubt it is a hardware issue.
@Aingaran : Holoblur has custom kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=43430196&postcount=131
@skeevydude : I need to follow the instructions mentioned here for stock JB ? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2226527 OR simply use myth tools to flash the mexican retail rom zip ?
facepalm: for asking this but is there anything else i need to do ?? )
So flashed the stock but same issue. Now the particular strip of the touchscreen where navbar rests has totally become unresponsive. Hence hardware is at fault here.
So flashed PAC ver 23 and using pie controls as of now as a temporary solution. Would try and get it repaired during weekend. @Aingaran : I guess I need to change screen and digitizer. Since you broke yours can you gimme rough idea how much it will cost ?
