Hi all! I'm a noob about MOTO X.. I come from HTC ..this is new..and it makes me crappy!
My friend half-bricked my moto x!
Now its stuck with Unlocked Bootloader warning screen...even when i go to fastboot and select recovery to reflash .. it comes back to warning message!
I referred all the threads.. but nothing is clear on my vision! I'll be grateful if you people direct me to the right path to restore my device!
Here is what he did...
Unlocked bootloader
installed recovery through TWRP via playstore
then installed CM Lollipop,Stuck on CM logo..bootloop
so flashed STOCK firmware for XT1052
finally stuck in warning bootloader
I have XT1052 model
Thanks in advance!
I hope no one will let your phone down!

Does the phone boot up normally other than the Unlocked Bootloader Warning Message? If so, you're just fine. Anytime the Bootloader is unlocked, that warning message just comes up every time you boot up your phone. There is a way to get it off but right now I can't think of where I found it. You can definitely Google it and you'll find your answer there.

That's the problem here! it doesnt bootup !!
Stuck at Warning Bootloader.. !!
And yeah already googled it..there is a way to remove the Bootscreen for warning message!
You can boot in recovery mode to restore your rom.
If you lose TWRP. You can flash recovery by fastboot mode.
You also can backup your phone's data to OTG usb drive by TWRP.
So, the main point is : Can you boot into fastboot mode?
Calm down!

I was just asking because it wasn't clear in your first message. No need to get all worked up over it. I got my phone all messed up a few days after I got it and thanks to some posts on this forum, I was able to get it all straightened out and it doesn't take too terribly long to do it either.
Try following this link to see if you can get your phone out of its funk. This is one that I found doing a quick search on this site. You said that your phone was a XT1052 model right? The URL is http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/general/stock-recovery-4-4-4-xt1052-t2945946.
Hope that this helps you out. There's another link that was a life saver for me. I'll post it once I find it.

I think this is nothing serious. This has happened to me a couple of times when I was testing my ROMs before for the Desire X and Desire Z. It's just, maybe there's just nothing to boot (correct me if I'm wrong). Just try following this dude's guide on how to return to stock maybe it would help you to get your phone back up and running. Good luck!
Thanks a lot mates!! very pleased for your time !!
Looks all the soutions are possible ones..will surely give it a try!
By the way, I think the phone needs to be charged to flash!
But being stuck on warning bootloader, the phone doesnt charge..always uses the power from the outlet to display the message..left for a hour ..still doesnt charge up!
really frustrated ...
would appreciate if there is any concerns for this!
thanks in advance

Now I have no idea about what you can do about getting your battery to charge up. Have you tried charging this up on different outlets to see if it may be the outlet that you're plugging it into? There are times that I've had charging issues with my phones because of the outlet I was using.
Too bad this phone has a non-removable battery or I would tell you to get a new battery and see if this helps solve some of your issues. To me, it looks like a call in to Motorola's tech support may be in order. Now one thing that they will ask you and you really need to make sure you've done this is "Are you using the charger that came with the phone?" That's the first thing that they'll have you do and if you've already done that, you can honestly tell them yes when they ask you about that. Also, how long have you had this phone? If it's been less than a year, it may be under warranty if your phone is a developer edition. If you have a developer edition phone, unlocking the bootloader does NOT void the warranty. It only voids the warranty on the non-developer edition phones.
Just some information that you may need when you call tech support. Hope that this helps you out.

Im using stock charger only!
now powering it in FASTBOOT... its been an hour again...still indicates battery low!
Thanks for your help all of you!
Twrp will charge the phone while you're in recovery and to flash cm 12.1 or 12 try booting cm11 then dirty flash cm12 and it should boot for you
the problem is when i select recovery it comes back to warning screen''
so to flash anyother recovery.. first i need to charge up..because it doesnt allow to flash in cmd...and in AP FASTBOOT it shows battery is low!

Hold down the power and down volume buttons for about 30 seconds. When you release both buttons this should bring you to a bootloader screen where you have choices like normal boot, boot recovery and the like. Hook the phone to a computer via usb and with adb on that computer flash twrp to the phone...
Fastboot flash recovery twrpfilename.img
Once that is flashed you should be able to go into recovery and get into twrp which will allow the phone to charge
It MIGHT even charge from that bootloader screen I never tried
thanks for that idea dude!
but it doesnt flash...it tells ..flash failure because of low battery
then i tried charging in fastboot!
doesnt work
In which android version was your phone when you started? When you tried to return to stock, which version of Android did you flash?
I guess maybe you downgraded your phone which causes hard bricks.

Yes, if you power off and THEN plug the charger in, it will power back on.
Power it off by pressing and holding the power button until the screen shuts off. Then press and hold volume down, then press and hold power and hold them both for about 4 seconds and then release both to get into bootloader mode.
In bootloader mode, you use volume down to scroll down and then you use volume up to select. You do NOT press the power button when in bootloader mode. Are you pressing the power button when in bootloader mode? Don't do that.
Use volume down to scroll down to recovery, then press volume up to select recovery to get into recovery. Can you get into recovery?

Are you pressing the power button to select recovery? You select recovery by pressing volume up, not power. If you are pressing the power button, that is why you are not getting into recovery.
You do NOT use the power button when in bootloader mode. You use volume down to scroll and volume up to select.

If battery is too low, buy a Motorola factory cable, adapter, or make your own. It will allow the phone to be powered while in fastboot to flash.

Hi all,
I have an issue with a Sprint HTC Hero CDMA phone which has been possibly bricked.
The phone is rooted, with bootloader S-OFF (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=759955). I was trying to flash an ENG-SPL through recovery when the battery died (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=765237).
After that whenever I try to turn on the phone the phone does not boot.
Pressing power key does nothing, pressing power+volume up should take into recovery mode but does nothing, pressing power+volume down should take into fastboot mode but I get three vibrates and nothing else. I have read it seems the three vibrates means it is going into Qualcomm diagnostic mode as the bootloader is S-OFF.
The screen remains turned off. I have tried connecting to PC, running factory ROM through RUU but PC does not recognize phone. ADB does not recognize the device.
As last resort I want to know if this can be repaired through JTAG JRT or similar. I am based in Bangalore India and would be very grateful if anyone can help me out. Willing to pay.
Thanks.

First, charge it powered off until FULL and seriously just leave it alone, let it recover - hopefully. I am pretty sure if you lost batt while flashing the bootloader, you are hosed forever. You could TRY booting into safe mode (hold menu press power) and then see if you can get recovery (hold home press power) or simply reboot after safe mode occurs (I think it's 5 vibrations). If none of that works, no adb, no RUU.exe, no HERCIMG.zip, no hboot, no fastboot commands = brick afiak I've never heard of jtag jrt, sorry.
Ya it does sound as if you sir are fubarred...
You were flashing bootloader and whatnot. Which in turn boots... so if it dies while trying to flash over it wont be recoverable.
Never.. and I mean never flash with a low battery.

The bootloader had flashed OK. It was when flashing the ENG-SPL that the battery died. Had tried charging to full and tried volume up+power, volume down+power, home+power, menu+power, home+power, nothing happens.
JTAG is a hardware repair as I know but no idea who/where can do it.
I tried menu + power and the phone vibrated five times and the green LED blinks. The screen does not turn on. Had to do battery pull then tried power on but nothing happens.

The ENG-SPL is the bootloader. The point of the ENG-SPL is that it overwrites your current bootloader with one that isn't locked down.
The nand unlock bootloader had flashed ok and it became S-OFF from the earlier S-ON when I had checked on fastboot, after this I tried flashing the ENG SPL because I was looking to flash a custom splash screen and it required an ENG SPL to work. Right after I flashed the ENG SPL the issue described began. Tried the safe mode but nothing except the five vibrates and the screen is off.

Here is the sequence of steps:
1. Bootloader was S-ON.
2. Flashed nand unlock file from Regaw's thread.
3. Bootloader became S-OFF. The SPL version (not sure of exact field but the one with numbers of format nnnn.nnnn.nn00?) remained unchanged.
4. Tried flashing a custom splash screen got ADB error remote not allow.
5. Read that for flashing custom splash screen there should be ENG-SPL (version numbers were given in a video on unlockr.com).
6. Tried to flash Darch's ENG-SPL. Got the icon of arrow out of box. Then the screen died. I presume the battery died but not sure.
Current status:
1. Power does nothing.
2. Power + volume down does nothing.
3. Power + volume up three vibrates (plus if phone is on charge then the LED turns off, battery pull and reconnecting to charger LED turns on though).
4. Power + menu five vibrates (plus green LED blinks)
5. Power + home does nothing.
6. Battery LED works i.e. remains red then changes to green.
7. Screen does not turn on.
8. RUU does not work as PC does not detect phone.
9. ADB devices does not detect the phone.
I was on NFX stock .7 ROM and Amon_Ra recovery.
It would sound broken to me. The only thing I could really add is that the eng-spl is not needed for splash screens once you use regaws s-off. Many of us have flashed the eng-spl though on top of s-off so I'd think your battery died and the phone is done for.

Hi I found a guy with RIFF box in india but he is saying the CDMA Hero is not supported, and needs a working Hero to read some file so that it can then be added to RIFF box. This will then allow the box to read and repair the phone. Does your RIFF box support the CDMA Hero? Is there any way you could send this file to me? I have tried sending the phone to you but no indian courier service is willing to ship phones. Please help.

Sorry for late reply, I do not have insurance as it was bought from EBay. It is a dead end I am afraid.
Very sorry for bumping a dead thread but anyone has any idea to fix this or point me to someone who can repair, thanks. I currently have an unusable brick and even selling it would make no sense considering I am in India.
Hi all.
I have a Nexus one , rooted and unlocked. with broken power button
While i was going through an update using ROM MANAGER, the phone restarted then halted on the X screen, I can get in the fastboot screen (recovery) but without the power button i can't select any option and go further than that. and if the phone starts normally it stucks on the X screen.
I tried removing the sim card and SD , and tried the command "C:\android-sdk-windows\tools>fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-2.5.1.4-
passion.img" it succeeds flashing the file .. but what shall i do next???
the google driver (ADB) is installed on the device manager on my PC, and recognized while stuck on the X screen. BUT if connect the device while on the recovery it is recognized as "ANDROID BOOTLOADER INTERFACE"
I also tried using SUPERONECLICK v2.3.3. but didn't work as well.
PLEASE HELP ME

Were you having a backup already present (Backed up using an App?) . If yes, then you can restore. But i don't think the other way around is possible.

If you plug/unplug 4 or 5 times phone boot itself (with an USB plugged in). Repaired a neighbour's N1 last month this way.
When phone boots, restart to bootloader and flash Blackrose, it uses trackball and volume keys to navigate, then what you want. You doesn't need the power button with this configuration (trackball could unlock the screen and to lock you can install some app or widget).
Anyway, I unassembled N1 several times (to clean it and to reconect the upper chip that it's been disconnected in a fall to the ground), maybe with a little care and seeing some youtube videos you can repair your button!
Hi Everyone;
I unlocked my phone for flashing custom rom. After unlocking i reebooted it and was normal. Then i flashed cwm via htc one toolkit. It was successfull as well. Then i go to cwm and made factory reset + wipe cache + dalvik cache. Then i go to install zip from sd card but i could not find my rom file. Thought, it was deleted while unlocking device. Then decided to reboot phone again to copy rom file into the phone and reboot.
But, when i rebooted phone from cwm, it stuck on HTC Logo( Quietly Brilliant screen). Waited sometime, but nothing happened. Then i tried to power off it and boot into bootloader or recovery. I press and hold power button but it does not respond anyhow. When i am holding power button ,back and home buttons are blinking but nothing happens. Almost five minutes i waited as holding down power button but phone does not power off anyhow. i tried all methods like vol down + power, vol up + power and both volume keys + power. But really nothing happens, just blinking back and home buttons. That's all.
I can not simply power off device. :crying:
I also tried boot device via fastboot commands but it says "waiting for device" means computer does not recognize device.
Guys, i need an urgent help. Please...
just keep trying to reboot via holding power or power+vol down. if it doesnt reboot after 30 sec or so let go then try again. if that doesnt work you will have to wait for the battery to die. once you get to bootloader use all in one toolkit to erace cache. then boot to recovery and you rom should be there if not boot back to bootloader and sideload rom

First thank you for your quick reply. Unfortunatelly, power+vol down does not work at all. Maybe i tried 50 times.
Anyhow, after battery die. How can i boot into bootloader. I mean, can phone be charged again in this situation? Also, even if i manage to boot into bootloader or recovery how can i put custom rom file into phone. Actually, i did not use sideload or whatever you mentioned before.
I am serouisly confused now and don't know what to do.
Anyhow, as you said, firlst i need wait to battery die i think. Then i will report back whats happen.
Thank you again btw.

yes your not the first person with this problem. hold power+vol down to get into bootloader. press power button in bootloader to get in fast boot mode. use all in one toolkit to erase cache and side load rom. i recommend all in one toolkit because it automates the process. just select the option then follow on screen steps
Good to hear that i am not the first person That means somehow there is a solution i beleive. Still waiting for battery die. even i had 50 percent battery at the begining but still it holds on I never say again htc battery is bad
I exeprienced that stucking on boot logo several times before with my other htc phones but holding power + vol down/up worked always. This is the first time for me that i faced with power button can not power off device.. Well, ,i hope i wish i can handle out this problem. Definetley with your help.
Regards,
I am having the same problem and don't know what to do :crying:
Today I just got my One. Unlocked bootloader, rooted, flashed Android Revolution rom. Everything worked fine for a while... I wanted to reinstall the rom because I wanted to change some options in the installer - I did not wipe because it was the same rom (big mistake I guess!!). After making the installation option changes, when it was done it proceeded to reboot but now I am stuck in a white HTC logo boot loop hell... (with the red text at the bottom that says "this build is for development purposes only" etc). Holy crap I never had a phone that I could not remove the battery. I cannot get this back into recovery or ANYTHING, it just keeps looping... computer recognizes it, no problem with drivers or anything it just doesn't stay connected long enough (because of the constant looping) to be able to use the toolkit.
PLEASE any advice?? Can't even shut it down omg. Do I have a $600 brick here? :crying::crying:

Did you read the other posts in this thread? The way you do a "battery pull" on this phone is to HOLD the PWR + VOL DOWN button for ~15seconds. Your capactivie buttons will blink, too. On my device, it took exactly 15seconds to reboot. There have been some reports of some phones that get so stuck that you just have to wait until the battery dies and charge it back up.
Alternatively, if the computer is recongizing it, try to adb reboot recovery to try and get into the recovery.

yes your not the first person with this problem. hold power+vol down to get into bootloader. press power button in bootloader to get in fast boot mode. use all in one toolkit to erase cache and side load rom. i recommend all in one toolkit because it automates the process. just select the option then follow on screen steps

hi again. this morning my battery finally out. Then i put my phone to the charger and started it in fastboot mode( that is a good new) Then i left it for 20-30 minutes to charge a little bit for flashing custom rom. Then i went to recovery and started adb sideload. Sideload was succesful and finally came to aroma installer of trickdroid. I chose my installation options and started to flash rom but process was frozen on 10 percent. It was saying unmount system, unmount cahce and both of them has notification as "already unmounted". But installation was not going on. Then again i tried to go back fasboot mode again by press and holding power+vol down but unfortunatelly lights are blinking but nothing happens again. I think i need to wait to battery die again.
Isn't it quite weird? Why power+vol down combination does not work for me anytime? So, do i need to wait for battery die in every frozen? Do you have any ideas or comments ?
Do i need to go back to stock first ?
EDIT : Battery was out again and i tried once more. This time installation (trick droid) was successful but it frozen at the end this time. And unfortunatelly i can not restart (power+vol down) it again again Holy crap, i am really pissed off with this problem.
O..K...Finally, i managed to start my phone and now it works... Especially thank you skinsfanbdh for your support.
But still i don't know how to solve button configuration problem. But anyhow i think i won't need quite sometim to use it I hope someone can find a solution for that later.
Guide me with steps please

What should I do if I can't even get to the boot screen? I tried holding down the power and volume up buttons, but it just restarts and goes back to the same HTC load screen, what do I do????
Hi,
I tried the regular fastboot method to load CWM recovery.
Whenever it got to the point of loading the recovering, it would just say "flashing recovery on the device...".
Then, when restarting bootloader and clicking on "recovery", it would just shut down the phone.
I decided to experiment to try fix the issue, and I came across this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1928551
I downloaded the ZIP file and I ran the root.bat
It flashed some boot images and now my phone wont start
It is stuck on the "warning bootloader unlocked screen" and will not go any further.
Please help . I'm so scared that I've bricked my phone. Is there ANYTHING I can do?
Thanks in advance for the help!
The methods u used can't brick your phone
Reboot in boot loader by pressing the power button and volume - button at the same time. Just at the moment the phone shuts-down/reboot release the power button. It will boot in boot loader. After this flash cwm or twrp again and with the volume down button go to recovery. Select recovery with the volume up key and u are done. Cwm/twrp is flashed and will boot in the recovery.
In recovery I would install the ROM from Omar. It will restore your system and boot.IMG so it will work. Don't forget to wipe data.
If this doesn't work flash the home made fast boot files somewhere in the development section

Thanks - I tried that. I do let go of the buttons as soon as it starts to reboot itself, but it doesn't start the bootloader - it still just shows the screen "warning bootloader unlocked". I can not get back into the bootloader
Do u reset the phone with the 4 buttons and just when it resets does your phone reboots immediately?

If I hold all 4 buttons, the screen goes blank, and the green light stays on. My PC then finds hardware called "MEDFIELD" but wont find drivers for it.
Does this help at all?

The above applies when connected with usb.
If I press all 4 buttons without USB connected, it just reboots and gets stuck on the "unlocked bootloader" message again

You should let go only of power button and hold vol.down button (at least for me)
If your PC finds hardware - can you do fastboot devices to check whether it is actually recognized properly?
And last thing - which method you used to load recovery (and were you on ICS\JB)? You were rooted and used automated methods or you unlocked bootloader and wanted to root afterwards (manually through fastboot)?

You are a GENIUS!!! A LIFE SAVER!!! I can't begin to tell you how grateful I am. BOTH of your points fixed the phone.
I could never get into recovery becuase I was pressing the power button. I could never get into fastboot becuase I was holding both the power and volume down button.
So, for anyone using a RAZR I... please note the following SIMPLE things:
1) In the bootloader menu, the power button does NOT select the option. The VOL UP button selects the option
2) To boot into BOOTLOADER : Hold both power and vol down buttons until the phone restarts, and then RELEASE the power button, while still HOLDING the volume down button! It will then load the bootloader.
Again, THANKS so so much for reviving my phone for me. I was going crazy without a phone!

I was going through everything you've faced yesterday. So yeah, glad I was of help to someone else as well)
This has never happened to me before but don't stress one bit because nothing ever permanently bad comes from this. You can forget about it being destroyed. These aren't iPhones, haha. You can get it going again pretty easy I hear. Just don't stress because there is no point and you WILL get help. Just listen to what these experienced dudes are saying and you should be back on track. Good luck!

UPDATE: Nice! Glad to see you got the help you needed and everything's back on track!
Nice that it is solved. I gave u the solution on my first post, but nice that someone els did a better job in explaining it
There is almost no possibilities to brick your device if u only flash things like the boot, system, recovery or data partition. They can he solved very easy. If u flash the other partitions like the radio u can get a problem.

Is it stuck at the white HTC splash screen that says quietly brilliant or the boot up animation screen that has the beats logo on it?
If stuck at the splash screen just hold power and both volume keys to force a reboot and see if it boots up then. If it is stuck during the boot animation you may have to try a factory reset.
You may still be able to do a factory reset depending on where the update failed.
Hold power and Vol down for until it boots into the bootloader. Then press the power button again to select bootloader. In the bootloader list you should see factory rest, use volume keys to highlight it and power to select it.
This will wipe all your data you had saved on the internal storage, but that would be better than a non booting phone.
Best of luck.

Yes, a proper RUU should be able to reset you to 100% stock if your weren't rooted or S-Off.

Crushalot I have a similar issue with my HTC one like xiang5377. Except my phone is stock no root nothing, actually it was given to me to root. It has been a long time since I have rooted a phone and im lost here. My friend got the phone online which might have been his first mistake, second I believe it was from China. In any case lt me explain what has gone on, I have been looking for instructions in unlocking bootloader in fastboot mode which is not an issue, I found it but I am unable to get to the bootloader by pressing power key and VOL down.....strange so I looked under settings to turn off fastboot and the option wasn't there at all. When I press VOl down and power key it goes to some strange looking menue in Chinese REALY! OK so I searched Google and fopund a post that suggested it might be a fake. So I tried VOL up and power key and it took me another strange looking screen. I actually had the option for "normal" "fastboot" and something else:fingers-crossed: Nothin stayed at that same screen for ever....so I pressed VOl down and power and it reset. I went back to that screen gain picked the one option should not have and now im stuck at htc quietly brilliant sceen:crying: I have tried all kinds of key options and still nothing NED HELP!! I am unsure if the phone is internal sprint T-Mobile etc... 100% stock.

Might need some screen shots. It sounds like it may be a fake HTC One. Can you look at the bootloader screen on this fake and see if yours is similar:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2362301
Or look here:
http://www.engadget.com/2013/07/14/fake-htc-one-plastic-mt6589/
If it is one the fakes then I'm not sure what to advise other than trying to return it and get a genuine unit.
If it is real then we might be able to do something. Are you able to reboot it by holding both volumes (up and down) plus the power buttons for 15+ seconds? It should cause it to reboot.

NO joy on reboot. I looked at that video and it seems to be the fake one, might explain why I wasn't able to get to the bootloader normally. This sucks now I will have to explain to my lieutenant that he got a fake one and I might have bricked it lol! What would you try next if it were real, or will I have to wait till it dies and still run the risk of it not booting up normally again. I was never able to get to normal bootloader.
---------- Post added at 04:51 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:45 PM ----------
Also looking at the video, it had the same black menu not the white menu I have seen in other videos, indicating a newer OS. It also did not show fastboot option under settings/power option
http://imageupload.co.uk/files/36ha7p8hdv926l90b0l6.jpg
On the pic above I actually clicked on: [UART Boot] option and im stuck
If it was real, it would respond to the normal reboot commands and allow us to reboot the OS if working or boot to fastboot so we can use fastboot commands to see exactly what we were working with and decide the next move.
In you case, you may just have to wait until the battery dies and then perhaps it will boot normally, as it seems the clones don't have the same button commands to perform operations. You could try different combinations of button holding to see if it will reboot.
There may also be some more information on the Chinese forums, but could be hard for a English speaker to navigate and fin the info needed.
If the seller sold the device as a genuine HTC One then, obviously that is illegal and you could try to use that angle to force them to return it.
Best of luck.
