No matter what keyboard I use, stock, swift key or Google keyboard I get really annoying lag. Not to the point where it's unusable but pretty close.
Rebooting my phone helps a little but then it gets bad again. Ideas?

I noticed this , i didnt think it was lag seemed like a combination of the curve and the fact the screen is so slick, but i found swyping very unaccurate

Interesting because swiping consistently works perfect for me it's when I try to tap type that I get random crazy lag.

Is it me, or did froyo fix the "crazy screen" bug? I also noticed that my phone doesn't get as hot when it's been charging on my car dock.
I'm running FRF50 since it was released. The screen issue is long gone. I use to have it a couple of times a day. I sometimes get it but that's once a week.

This, and I'm on FRF85B
Gotta be the best part of froyo for me, crazy screen bug fix, flash player, Jit compiler.
Which crazy thing happening are you guys screaming about? Are you talking about when the touchscreen would begin to register touches in the wrong place until the screen is turned off and on again?
Yeah that's what they are talking about. But the bad news is this problem still exists. I've had it happen many times on froyo. It's not gone at all.

Funny thing is that I had those issues on an AT&T-banded phone and they have gone way downhill since Froyo.
I find the granularity/preciseness of the screen better, and more responsive when, for example, you are dragging left-to-right and you start dragging up-down. However, I only do this in the browser so it could be down to better browser performance and/or JIT?
Still have screen uncalibration issues but seem to be better in 85 than 72
Does indeed seem to be a thing of the past, and on a similar note, it's improved the capacitive button accuracy as well.
Good that they've done it, but now I keep hitting them in the wrong place.
I'm using FRF91. Crazy screen bug happens with me twice a day. I don't know what I do to go away, but after a few minutes it stops by itself.
Ok I have been noticed a new problem for the past few days where the screen did not response at all when I turned on the phone. I cannot slide the unlock bar to unlock it. I had to turn it off and on again for one or two times to make the screen response again. Anyone else having this same problem?
Crazy screen occurrence definitely reduced.. however, it still happens when phone heats up significantly.. say, on a dash board while navigating. It's most definitely heat-related... so it must be hardware =(
I'm running Geo's FRG83 and I get it quite a bit when using Skype. I've seen this problem from the beginning and haven't seen a reduction in this issue with later versions of Android. It is the only problem I have with Android/N1.

I've had the N1 since day one and never had this bug. But I don't use Skype...
I just got my $199 Ebay NC last night, and loaded CM7's newest nightly #13 on it.
Everything seems to be in working order, including market and whatnot, but there is one problem: some areas of the screen would become unresponsive. I noticed it repeatedly in three scenarios:
1. When the notification bar is pulled down, the "clear" button can be unresponsive
2. In market, the "install" and the subsequent "ok" to give permission buttons in an app page can be unresponsive
3. the search button on the top right corner of the market (the magnifying class) can be unresponsive
The weird thing is that the rest of the screen is fine, i.e. I can scroll up and down in the market, and I can click on individual notifications fine, but just those buttons are unresponsive.
I am using the Kernel that came with CM7, and LCD density is at default 161.
Any suggestions are appreciated.
Sounds to me like it is just the bad responsiveness of the NC around the edges of the screen? Stock, with Froyo, and now with CM7 that's been the case for me.

I see. Good to know Im not the only one having this problem.
Did you ever get this resolved? or just live with it haha
To fix the touch screen issues try Dalgrin's OC kernel over in the development forum. He fixed some of the touch screen issues with it...maybe it would fix whatever problem you are having. You can run at stock speeds if you want of course, just go to Cyanogen settings>performance>cpu and set it to stock.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it and it "somewhat" helped. The problem inside the market is mostly gone, but the clear notification button is still buggy. Wondering if Nookie Froyo would make a difference.
Just saw this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=980222
and tried out the app and it seems to work.

If you notice the clear button also changes size. When it is big it's very easy to hit, but when it is small it has a very small area to hit. The upper left hand corner of the button seems to be the best location to hit.

Hello I'm having some keyboard lag on my brand new device. It only picks up about 80% of my keystrokes on keyboard pro.
Any advice? I did a restore from my sgs2 settings.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk
think its a firmware issue. post your current 'about phone' specs.
Hi, I am in the process of updating it for the second time. I had two updates!!!
The first update I had was:
PDA KK9, Phone KK5, and CSC KK9
Now I just updated to:
PDA KL7, Phone KL7, and CSC KL7
Let's see how this works. I'll update again!
EDIT: It seems to have been fixed!
Hey guys. I just wanted to ask if anyone here uses smart keyboard pro. It only seems to be happening with this keyboard but it seems to be missing the keys I hit. Its rather annoying. I've tried a lot of other keyboards and I don't have the issue with them. But this is my favorite keyboard. I wrote the programmer a week ago and I imagine because of the holidays he's busy.
Does anyone else have this issue of the keyboard not picking up all the keys you hit?
Thanks.
Kent.

I have the same issue.
The ONLY major lag/slowdown I get with my Note is when I'm using the keyboard, ANY keyboard that is...
I've tried smart keyboard, swiftkey & even ice cream sandwich keyboard, all are slow and when typing the keyboard is slow, cannot keep up resulting in mistakes...
I'm running on 2.3.6 and stock rom/firmware...
Hopefully ICS will fix this issue.
Bump!
Strange why some users have this lag issue with the keyboard whilst others do not....
At the end of the day it's the SAME phone having the same hardware...
I'm on stock rom/firmware & I for one am experiencing lag with the keyboard which results in me having to type slowly otherwise mistakes occur.
If I try to type fast the keyboard is slow & cannot keep up.
I've read others having the same problem as well as others not having this at all.
Having said this, I've tried 4 different keyboards and all gave me lag, none were any better or worse than each other...
Same problem. I have compared it with desire hd - desire hd keyboard is WAY FASTER than Note keyboard.
Tried different STOCK rom's KL7, KL8, tried different kernels (abyss, 2.5, 2.6),
nothing helps. It's just slow - letters is not appearing at the moment you press, it's like a 0.1sec lag or smth, but it feels, it's hard to type without mistakes when keyboard is not working at the realtime )
BTW I had this issue and on Nexus S...
Any solution to fix this?
Try switching haptic feedback off.... it mit help... or try thumb keyboard.. lots of customizations and no lag on it

Same issue, Im facing this since a month now.. Its become very irritating to use the phone itself.. I used Sgs2 for 5 months and did not face a single keyboard lag and a better hardware mobile is making it a big glitch.. I chat a lot on whatsapp and this issue is very irritating now! I have tried several stock n custom roms, but after say half an hour of continuous usage, this keeps happening.
I also noticed that this issue increases when the phone is on charge. The touch just does not wanna take any inputs.. Need a solution for this ASAP!!

I have just solved the lag issue! It may or may not work for you but it's certainly worth a try.
Try ''Perfect Keyboard''
For me this was the ONLY keyboard out of EVERY other popular keyboard app that was smooth and responsive. On top of this it's very customizable, give it a try!
Other keyboards I've tried which were laggy include:
- Stock Samsung Note Keyboard
- Ice Cream Sandwich Keyboard
- SwiftKey Tablet X Keyboard
- Better Keyboard
So to those who find most keyboard replacement apps laggy, try Perfect Keyboard!!
Thanks man.. Ill give it a try for sure.. This has become very frustrating now, so Im game to try any smallest of the solutions to resolve this issue!!
None of market keyboards does not fix this issue. Had some similar problems with Nexus S and it was solved by tuning thresholds and noise cancellations for touch screen controller (in kernel).
Let's hope ICS will solve that.
I know.. I tried perfect keyboard as well.. After same issue in this also.. After a bit this is also becoming laggy..
Another weird thing Im facing is that my touch sensitivity specially when on the keyboard isnt working at all when I start charging my phone..
I was about to post a thread on Q & A regarding this and saw this this thread. I too have the lag issue and few people above me has described it quite well.
Im on XXLA6 Deodexed Stock, and I too have the same issue. Samsung Keypad, and the Go Keyboard both are the same.
Any solutions ?
Only thing I have found till now it to Calibrate and then use the keyboard again.. Helps most of the times or else reboot thw handset. No solution yet..

Lol same thing happened to me too. My keyboard lag as hell. Tried swift, swipe, stock and better keyboard. All of them seems cannot keep up. I disabled heptic, tone and still lag.

You know what, I am using Hangouts and that could be why things are stuttering a little bit. That and Instagram. We'll see what happens after a bootloader unlock and root :good:

Go into application manager and scroll to running. How much memory is system using and how much is free?

Wowzers. Thats definetely a memory leak there. Restart the device and that should get rid of it. What was the uptime of the device at that time?

Mine is now doing the same thing. It has slowly gotten worse And is now extremely laggy and battery life has dropped down to the point I have to use power save mode to get through 7.5 hours of work. I haven't installed any new apps and tried factory reset but it hasn't helped at all.

Have you tried doing a reboot? That will usually reset things.
I'll have a new deodexed rom posted tomorrow. Finally got all the issues ironed out with root and stuff. It'll include the memory leak fix.
