Have you unlocked the bootloader of the phone? If so you need to restore the DRM keys and TA partition first before trying to use Sony PC companion to repair the phone.
If you have lost the keys and TA partition then its impossible to get it back because those are unique to each handset.
In that case you will need to flash custom kernel and any rom ( stock or CM AOSP based )
check the dev section for more
I can't flash a kernel because flash tool does not detect the phone after mistakenly flashing C6602 kernel

guys, if let's say i installed a custom rom, and without having the kernel which is needed for the rom and i cant get into recovery mod, is there anyway to repair this? and also i didn't unlock the bootloader.. any help?? please? one more thing, the debugging mode is off. so i can't transfer files through flashtool. That happens because the custom rom cannot be booted up and therefore i cant select debugging mode on~

My fellow Malaysian, just which ROM you are trying to install? many custom ROMs doesn't need custom kernel, so you don't have to install and unlock the bootloader!
Since you have installed the custom kernel( assuming it required the custom kernel), use flashtool to install the custom kernel for it to work!
Please remember for custom kernel like aNa, you need to unlock the bootloader, pls check the date of manufacturing first, Otherwise you may break your phone

Hey, I've got a problem with my SP and want to repair it with PC Companion which, you know, only works with phones with locked bootloader. My phone's bootloader is unlocked. I read the post from DooMLoRD: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2354721&highlight=relock+bootloader
I'm on the SP DoomKernel v3 and I know, that I have to flash back the stock kernel, if I want to relock my bootloader. I think the (or a) stock kernel is that one: http://d-h.st/fv8
But DooMLoRD mentioned in his post, not to take the FTF file but the kernel.sin and I don't know how to extract it or from where I can get it.
Please help!
Avoid PC Companion or Update Service. Just turn off your phone and use Flashtool to flash any .ftf you want. After flashing everything stock, turn on the phone for a few minutes, then turn it off and relock the bootloader.

Okay, but the link to the Download page of the .ftf is stock, isn't it? And why shall I avoid PC Companion and SUS? my Phone apk is broken I need to repair it. Or is there an other possibility even for unlocked bootloader? I mean I only want to lock it because I want to repair. Or should the problem go if I flash a custom ROM?
If you are having a problem with an specific .apk try to diagnose why it is force closing or not working properly. Try clearing the app's data and wipe cache and dalvik cache from recovery. If the problem persist try a factory reset...if nothing solves the problem you may need to reinstall that ROM
In case of a bootloop Use any .ftf from a C5303,02 or 06...It will resurrect your dead phone. I have the stock firmware for the C5303. Its o2 branded but it works great, It has File Comander pre-installed and all Sony bloatware you could ever want. I love it! Download it from here: http://www.mediafire.com/download/nm8c4nwb7sxdblt/C5303_12.0.A.2.254_o2.ftf
If you dont like the boot animation or shut down animation you will need to root. Shut down animation is located on system/vendor/overlay. Search for
com.sonyericsson.shutdownanim-res.apk and delete it.
UNLOCKED PHONES CAN'T USE PC COMPANION OR UPDATE SERVICE. And even trying an Update OTA it may brick the phone.
Hmm.. I tried all those things but reinstall rom. But how can I reinstall the rom? I haven't got any nandroid (or other) backup before the phone apk broke. And in development section there is only the deodexed stock rom 12.0.A.2.254 and the odexed stock ROM 12.0.A.2.245. Which one of them is the right one?
Okay. I already have had a bootloop, caused by restoring an system backup, and solved it myself.
Yes, I got the advice to relock bootloader and repair with PC Companion. But if there is a possibility to solve the problem without relocking bootloader this would be really really great!
Reinstall a recovery or use doomlord's kernel (custom kernels like doomlord's have a recovery)
Reinstall any ROM you want or use flashtool to repair your phone. This will erase everything but the external microSD card.
Flashool works with locked or unlocked bootloaders.
Thank you! That helped me I'll try it very soon

Hello i succesfuly flashed AOPK kitkat rom from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2577191
And before that i succesfuly again flashed this kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2581531
All that having and unlocked bootloader.
But now i want to go stock again (i dont want to lock the bootloader but i wont mind if it gets locked).
So when i tried SUS it said i have custom software installed in the device (duh) but i cant find a way to reset the phone to factory state.
Please help so i can run 4.1.2 rooted again.
If you made a nandroid backup before flashing the ROM, just restore it. I would always recommend doing this, when flashing anything. If not try repairing with FlashTool.
Good luck

Use flashtool to flash a stock .ftf. You can unlock and lock the bootloader with flashtool. If you are on a unlocked bootloader you wont be able to update via pc companion or update service

yes i did. it was successful. i just got problems when fast boot flashing boot.img, idk what happened -_- huhu really want my sp back
In recovery (if you can enter that) perform a wipe /system and flash again This should fix most bootup issues.

So im currently rooted running cm11. I really dont like it and want to go back to stock. When I unlocked my bootloader I saved my TA partition rar file which I have stored on my pc. I am quite familiar using flashtool but not that much.
In other words I want to:
1) Lock my bootloader
2) Go back to stock sony firmware
Please help me thanks
p.s if it's worth staying rooted what rom should I install? cm11 is kinda rubbish...
Flashtool will relock your boot loader and reset to stock
My flashtools not display the button "relock" after clicking "BLU", how to proceed?
Here's my solution:
Relock your TA with TA Backup from the previously saved zip file. It doesn't matter what system you use under the procedure, but remember. If you use CM11 (or any non-stock based system) do not try to power on your phone before you flash the stock firmware with Flashtool. Otherwise you can soft brick the device, or if you lucky, you will get only bootloop. And two more thing: Before you start, charge your phone's battery to minimum 50 percent, and before you really start the backup, test it with "Restore dry-run" option. If it sucsess, you can do the trick. But if it fail, re-flash a stock KitKat based ROM, root it, and try this again. If it fails again, maybe your backup file is corrupted.
This method worked on my old SL, and on my Z too, so I hope it will be help to you too.

You don't need to relock bootloader to flash a stock based custom ROM. You can flash rajeevs purexz rom via recovery after wiping system and data partitions.
Locked bootloader is only needed for some Sony stuff like Bravia engine and stock Sony screen mirroring.
