Have quick charge 2.0 disabled?
I tried plugging it into a nexus 6 charger and a qc2.0 car charger and nothing.....just normal charge rate

Mine works great. Bought the Anker wall charger and works so far

Can you post a link?

I bought this bundle, and it's working great for me.

I'm also using my nexus 6 charger. I don't have a quick charge notification but it does seem to work.

theres a notification?

On the nexus isn't there? Or maybe the s6. How it tells you it's quick charging. And there isn't on the m9

I bought the HTC branded quick charger and definitely see a huge increase in speed with it. No notification but insanely fast charging

HTC device do not have a quick charge notification like a few others. You just have to make sure that the charger you got is Quick Charge 2.0 certified and you should be good to go. There are quite a few quick charge 2.0 charging accessories out there now. My favorite is the Aukey car charger which charges my phone about 5 times faster than the old car charger that I've owned for five years. Makes a huge difference, especially when you have only 15-20 minutes in the car.

2A Charger Please

I have read countless threads and looked at many chargers and I just can't seem to find a 2a car and a 2a home charger. I just ordered this charger and this cable and it just doesn't work above 700ma. When I use the stock cable I get to 1300mah for a sec and then about 900 steady. This is on both ports. Someone please help me before I lose it! The only one that works at 1500mah is the cable and charger that came with my phone.

Cable
Thanks in advance.
Well, I can say from repeated certainty that this 6' cable charges at the same rate as the stock cable but is actually nice.

Also, my Qmadix car charger with dual 2.1A ports does very near stock AC levels when charging 1 device. My results are in the mega 2A car charger thread, but that's a spendy charger.

I saw a cable at Best Buy which is pretty nice, it has El Wire that flashes quickly(battery at 0-65%), slow (battery at 66-99%) and turns off when the battery is full. Would that cable be okay to use to charge my phone?

I'm also looking for 2A replacement... How's the charging time compare to the stock Note 2 charger?
how do you measure the output while the device is charging? Is there an app to test how much juice is coming in real time?
I use a 2A HP Touchpad charger in my living room and a T-Mobile branded 3A dual USB charger in my bedroom (see links below). The T-Mobile charger charges my Note2 from 9% to 100% in less than 2 hours when I only use 1 of the USB ports. I'm not sure what the rate is when both ports are used. I've had this for a couple years and use it to charge (individually and simultaneously) my phones and tablets without any problem.

USB Fast Charger

Seeing as the M8 supports fast charging, but the charger in the box is the standard 5v/1amp charger, would anyone know if the new Google charger would work for fast charge?

It's 9w/1.8amp output. I have one and was thinking of getting an M8 so it's something I could keep to use if I do get one
(If this should be in Q&A please move it, but thought it might be handy for anyone looking for a fast charger from a reputable brand should it work)

My M8 was getting very warm using this charger, is yours?
Not that I have noticed but I'll keep an eye out when I get mine back. It does charge everything I own quick as hell though.
They're supposed to be releasing a quick charge 2.0 compatible charger for our device soon that's supposedly is pretty good. I find my phone charges much faster than my DNA as that thing had a slow charge mode that was brutal.
I have a few red band charge only cables that charge the phone fairly quickly.
The charger that came with my htc M8 says 1.5A on the back of it. It charges the phone pretty fast compared to others I have used. I did try to use my samsung charger that is 2.0A but I noticed the phone got warm. Definitely not hot to the touch but enough for me to not really want to ust again and stick to the stock charger.
The charger that came in my box was 1.5A.
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using xda app-developers app
The stock HTC charger is 1.5 amps, or at least the ones in the UK are.
While the phone can take 2 amp charge, by doing so you will heat the battery up much more on each charge, and this extra heat will reduce the charge cycles of the battery(life of the battery), not really the best thing to do on a phone that can't have it's battery replaced.
I've got a 2 amp charger for the car, as when I use that I tend to need power fast, but I have my phone mount on my aircon vent so the phone is kept very cool even if using google maps while fast charging at 2 amps.
How do you tell if a charger has Quick Charge or not?
Apparently the one that comes in the box with the HTC One M8 has Quick Charger 1.0 but I'm looking at the charger now and there is nothing on there to say that it has this feature
I would like to buy another one as a spare to put in a different location to charge without having to take my charger with it but I don't know how to tell if it has it or not before buying it without getting it and actually plugging it in and using it
M8 has quickcharge 2.0 but no 2.0 compliant chargers have been released, the stock charger uses quickcharge 1 technology, HTC is panning to release a qc 2.0 compiant charger later this year.

What do you mean by Samsung 3.0 :S
You're not talking about USB 3.0 are you?
Then yes the Samsung Galaxy S5 does have USB 3.0
USB 3.0 is just a faster way to transfer data and as far as I'm aware the charging speeds are still the same standard speed
You do need to have a USB 3.0 cable and a supporting device (USB 3.0 port) to utilise it the faster transfer speed
BUT in saying that the Galaxy S5 does have the same chip as the HTC One M8 as far as I'm aware so I would imagine it would have the Quick Charge 2.0 function as well but whether or not the phone has it enabled or comes with a Quick Charger I'm not sure
-EDIT
Just did some research
Turns out USB 3.0 standard port has a current of 900mA while USB 2.0 is 500mA so the power current on a USB 3.0 has also increased

any benefit using 2amp charger ?

Hi, im just wondering is there any benefit using a 2amp charger on the htc m8 , faster charging ? i know HTC are gonna release a faster charger which is 1.67amp , is it just the amp or it has some feature Quick Charge 2.0 built in you cant get with other chargers ?
the HTC One is rated to support Quick Charge 2.0 capable of accepting up to 60 watts of power – an increase of almost 100% compared to phones with Quick Charge 1.0. The 1.5amp charger bundled with the HTC One (M8), however, does not support Quick Charge 2.0. HTC is planning on releasing an optional 1.67amp charger accessory that will come with the technology later this year

I've used the 2.0A charger that came with my Galaxy S4 and didn't really notice the phone heating up to unusual temps.
You can use a 10A charger if you have one (and it works with your power outlet), the phone should never draw more than the maximum it draws.

I originally used the charger I got with my M8, but then switched to a 2.5amp charger. According to GSam, my time to charge from around 80% to full is around 15 mins, but with the original charger, it was around 30 mins.
So from my experience, it does charge faster. From what I have read about QC2, the technology is in the processor in the phone. The charger can be any type, as long as it is able to deliver up to 60 watts.
See here - http://www.zdnet.com/qualcomms-quick-charge-2-0-offers-75-percent-faster-charging-7000026519/
The tech is actually in both the phone AND the wall charger:
From http://www.qualcomm.com/chipsets/quick-charge
"While Quick Charge 1.0 rests in the devices only, Quick Charge 2.0 resides in both the device, offered as a standalone IC solution or as part of the PMIC (power management integrated circuit) of Snapdragon™ 800 processors, and in the AC/DC wall charger."
The one you link is worded a little ambiguously:
"Qualcomm hopes to take things further by integrating Quick Charge 2.0 technology into standard micro-USB AC/DC wall chargers. These chargers will look and work like standard chargers, but will be able to deliver Quick Charge to compatible devices."
I tripped on it a couple times when reading it too, but it's implying that the tech does not currently reside in standard chargers, since they're still working on integrating it.
guess i will get the HTC fast charger when out and i bet we should get compatible quick charge 2.0 chargers too
Thanks
The amperage of the charger makes no difference, the device will only ever draw the power it requires to charge, no more. so a 5a charger would be no different to a 2a charger if the phone only draws 1.5a for example. find out what the device needs to charge and get as close as you can to that size for protection reasons

Yes, it will charge it faster. I used my 2amp charger and it did charge it faster. The phone may have some protection built in to protect the phones hardware. But the battery can handle much higher charge rates and the battery shouldn't start heating up till 20-30 amps. Yes, that's right.
I use Li-poly to race electric RC's and we charge them up to 50 amps. This charger will --->http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__46368__iCharger_308DUO_1300W_Dual_Channel_8s_Balance_Charger.html
Most people only charge at 5-10 amps, but to get peak performance, you will need to create a bit of heat and that doesn't happen till 20-30 amps.

You will get whatever amp the M8 can take. i assume its 2A
I have a 2amp charger and i use it for my M8. i only see about a 30 min different from using a 1amp charger.
Its not just Amps, quickcharge 2.0 Also bumps up voltage. I tested multiple combinations with my htc one M8, here are my findings:
Quickcharge 2.0 18W Aukey (with regular micro usb cable): 9v/1.1A (~10w)
Quickcharge 2.0 18W Aukey (with data cut off cable): 5v/1.52A (~7.5w)
Wall 5v 2.4A charger: 5v/1.52A (~7.5w)
Stock 5v 1A charger: 5v/0.99A (~5w)
Car 5v 2A charger: 5v/1.3A (~6.5w)
some old 5v 700mA charger: 5v/0.7A (~3.5w)
MacBook Air USB port (2013) (with regular micro usb cable): 5v/500mA (~2.5w)
MacBook Air USB port (2013)(with data cut off cable): 5v/1A (~5w)
Ipad charger rated 5.2V/2.3A : 5v/1A (~5w) (no clue why its so sucky)
Also I noticed m8 once connected to charger (non Quickcharge 2.0) slowly increases charge current. if voltage drops below 4.92v it drops it back to these fixed values, whichever is immediate lower: 3oomA, 500mA, 700mA, 1A, 1.3A, 1.42A. 1.52A
these values are as per multimeters.
my car charger is tricky, it sometimes just falls to 1A instead of 1.3 as it border lines V to 4.92 while at 1.3Amps. (it is rated for 2.4A)

Quickcharge 2.0 with Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet

I've been using my HTC Rapid Charger Quick Charge 2.0 with my new Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet and it charges in just under 3 hours for a 0 to 100% charge.
Not sure what the standard charge time is with the stock charger, since I haven't even taken it out of the box Just easier for me to use the same charge and cable to charge both my phone and tablet. Has anyone else measured that?
My HTC One M8 usually gets quite hot during quick charging, but didn't notice the same thing with the Z2. It only went up to around 35 degrees at the highest, for a short while.
I need 4.5 hours with stock charger (15% to 100%).

No, those 60% in 30 mins is claimed with a much smaller phone battery..not with our 6000 mAh tablet battery. On my HTC One M8, it gets to about 50% in 30 mins.

got official answer:
Thank you for contacting Sony Xperia Support.
To be able to utilise the Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 technology, the smartphone or tablet as well as the charger need to support Quick Charge 2.0. If you want to use a magnetic charging dock, this must also support Quick Charge 2.0.
Currently, there are no original Sony chargers that support the Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 technology. This means that, at present, you cannot charge Xperia™ devices using original Sony chargers utilising Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0.
However, some Xperia™ devices and magnetic charging docks are prepared for and support the Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 technology. Again, as there is currently no original Sony charger that supports Quick charge 2.0, these devices cannot utilise Quick Charge 2.0 using an original Sony charger.
Regarding the charge time, according to our environmental declaration a full charge takes 5.8 hours while the tablet is turned off.

Wow, a normal full charge takes 5.8 hours? Even with tablet off..that sounds a bit crazy. Then im definitely glad i'm using the Quickcharger and getting it done in half that time..even with the tablet powered on.
As for the magnetic charger, it has been confirmed in other Xperia forums that Sony's dock and magnet supports Quickcharging, but most 3rd party ones don't. I'm using some cheap magnetic connector from eBay, and it charges quite slow (and half the times the magnet doesn't even keep it connected and it keeps falling off )
from my experience tablet charges in 4 hours (even if it`s turned on, from original SOny charger 1.5A 5V), from 20-30% to full. So this estimation is correct.
Anyone can recommend a good ansd cheap charger that support QC 2.0 or there already some thread about this on XDA somewhere?

Aukey Quick Charge 2.0 Portable Fast Charger.... Fast Charging?

Hello,
Has anyone used a Quick Charge portable battery pack before? You know how when you plug it in to the wall or outlet it will say "fast charging", well I don't get that with quick charge.
Is this normal or should I be panicking?
Thanks
Which model do you have? I have the 15,000mah PB-T3 model & it fast charges my phone fine now. The battery pack itself even supports quick charge so the battery pack will charge at 9V with the Samsung adaptive fast charger or 12V with a certified QC 2.0 charger.
I say "now" cause the first one I received melted & died while charging it.
Have you tried another quality cable?

I got this one and it works great.

Also. You need to make sure your cable is plugged into the correct port. I am assuming you have one with two ports, either way if you do have the two ports only one of them is QC 2.0 enabled.
Mine doesn't say, but charges quick -

I was looking at the 10000mah one, the PB-T4 which is 6.5 x 0.6 x 2.9 inches in size.
I cant find anywhere the dimensions of the PB-T3, is there any way you could measure it?

The dimensions listed on Amazon & most other vendors is wrong. The dimensions you gave that's listed for the PB-T4 on Amazon is the size of my PB-T3. Before purchasing I was looking for dimensions also & in another thread someone measured the PB-T4 to be 6.25 x 2.5 x .75 which makes sense cause the PB-T4 looks narrower & thicker than the PB-T3.
I store mine in a Maxpedition TC-2 pouch.

Wow, so you are saying you can fully confirm the PB-T3 is exactly 6.5 x 0.6 x 2.9 inches?
If thats the case then I'm going to buy it tomorrow.
Thanks!

Perfect. That seems like the best all around battery pack.
Heck, it's thicker but the footprint isnt much bigger than the LG V10 (or the Note 5 for that matter) itself.
I can carry the phone and batterypack together in my front jeans pocket easy.
Thanks again!
No problem. Yup, that's what I was worried about, being too big but as you said it's not much bigger than my N5 or the V10.
I was unlucky & the first one I got melted during it's first charge (the battery pack, not while charging my phone) so just to be safe keep an eye out on how hot it gets on your first charge. I liked this one the most out of all the others I was looking at so I took a chance with a replacement. Haven't had one problem with the one I have now.
What I like about is the most is it also supports QC2.0 fast charging & at 12v (but you'll need a QC2.0 charger to charge it at 12v & not an OEM that's only 9v max) so it's not just the output that is fast charging.
EDIT: Oh looks like I already mentioned the fast charging input in this thread.

You helped me a lot on this, thanks.
Check it out, I've got my shopping cart loaded up. That Tronsmart 54W, 5 port charger does the QC2.0 12V so I'm hoping it will charge up the Batterypack nicely
BTW, for anyone interested this is another nice looking single port charger also that I want but am holding off on: http://amzn.to/21GlCBh
Thanks again :good:

Nice. That charger should do just fine. I like the Tronsmart stuff. I charge mine with the 3 port Tronsmart.

I also use their compact fast charger in the car.

Yeah, I was looking at that 3-port you have. Interesting that it is such high wattage, at 42W when the 5 port is only 54W. I'm wondering if the 3-Port has faster charging or something but all the QC2.0 port specs seem to be the same.
You might have seen, I'm planning to get this one for the car: http://amzn.to/1OOlcSp
Try this one. At least, you can use this in the near future because of type-c port. I'm definitely satisfied with this product.

Need help with the aukey power bank
Hey i read you've been using the aukey charger.
I an looking to buy yhe same but spectical about the performance.
Does the power bank itself charge using fast charging? If so which charger you use.
How long does it take for the power bank to charge completely using the output of your charger.
Thanks
I purchased the Aukey 3.0 do to the fact that it work with both micro USB 2.0 & USB Type-C 3.0 compatible. (I won't have to buy another one next year! Lol) I have to say it's quite remarkable. Small enough to put in my pocket with phone connected using a small cable. I got from 55% to full in about 17 min. while screen was off. Takes a while to charge the unit itself (which is to be expected with 10,000 mAh) The unit itself can not be fast charged. It also will not fast charge a phone while it is being charged itself. Simply put, with a $20 price tag (now $30), you can't go wrong. Next time I use it, I'll get some screenshots & add to thread.
AUKEY 16000 mah charge time
Hi all,
Thanks for a help-full post. i bought a aukey 16000mah power bank.
When i recharge the device using my Asus charger (5v 2A & 9V 2A ) from
my phone the device does not show full charge indication. The light on
the power button flashes (Breathing effect) RED, GREEN and then
WHITE. It never goes to SOLID WHITE which would indicate 100% charge
even after plugging it in for 9-12 hours.
I have also used a Aukey 10000mah power bank and in 5-6 hours its
light status goes to SOLID WHITE.
Is this issue only with me or has anyone else faced the same? How long
should the device take to recharge itself with 5V 2A rated charger
which is also mentioned on the device's INPUT rating.
Also would like to know if the light ever goes to SOLID WHITE with other users.
Thanks
Wish one of these codes worked on the 20000mah.

You should avoid Fast Charge or anything like that. It's extremely bad for lithium polymer to be "Fast Charged" the technical behind it is look at your power brick. Anything over 5v charging is to much and will shorten the battery life. I've seen 5.3 and 9.0. I use a 4.8v 2A charger on all my devices. The lithium polymer gets forced above it's operating voltage of 3.7 to 4.1v.
