Shady

New version on Play store. I was able to download it today
Not blocked.

F***ing loser!

Yeah, it's publicly available on the play store. It is still very rough around the edges though and definitely is not as good officesuite pro and the like.

It's pretty good, but not nearly as great as the Android tablet version. Excel and Word on my Shield Tablet are above and beyond any other Android office suite.

There are 2. There's this one (or at least the one linked in post 2) which is a cloud based app.. Links to office 365 or live account, but there is a full office suite in beta that is not available to us.. There are threads in the android app a forum I believe.. Only the letter could be considered a rival to office suite pro really.. The any really the same kind of app.
That said, I don't think post 1 is about the latter anyway

Photoshop coming to Xoom?

I saw that Adobe released a version of Photoshop for the Xoom. Anyone heard about them releasing it for Xoom?
.........huh?
While there isn't a full fledged Photoshop (currently?) out for Android, you can download Adobe Photoshop Express for free, just search it in the market.
Also, I see from some of your other posts that you seem to be trying to use the Xoom for some office purposes. I hate to be this guy, but don't get your expectations too high.

I think it works quite well for office use. I use mine daily for this very reason. Evernote, Touchdown, QuickOffice HD, Office Talk (MS Communicator) and PrinterShare (Printing from the Xoom) all great apps. QuickOffice HD doesn't do everything I need it to at the moment but I am sure before long it will be updated with more functionality.
According to Engadget:
As we said, no one's even confirming that this has any hope of breaching reality, but we're going ahead and making the outlandish assumption that Adobe's not just wasting our (and its own) time by showcasing this in public.

Adobe showed it off at their latest event.
Adobe demonstrates legitimate Photoshop capabilities on iPad
IMHO, the Adobe Express available in the Market, is a piece of crap. Real Photoshop needs to make its way to reality ASAP.

Yeah, I really only want light use. For anything substantial I would be better off remoting into Windows.

Yes, I was referring to the Adobe recent demo. I had read an article that mistakenly indicated it had already been released. I would think it would make more sense to release a Lightroom version to support the update where we get access to camera profiles. I would be thrilled to learn that they include .Raw file support but I am not holding my breath.
I am actually hoping that my Xoom will become a Liveview via direct tether (photography) more than anything. the potential to use ti for timelapse and other tethered field shooting is enormous.

I agree, I use QuickOffice HD, Docs To Go and Touchdown daily but I wasn't even aware of PrinterShare, so thanks! :::EDITED:::A bit off topic, but has anyone here tried the RDP app from Xtralogic on their Xoom yet?

Yes, I've used Xtralogic's newest version of RDP that's optimized for tablet use and it's actually pretty good. Much better than any VNC alternative.

Plants vs. Zombies on Android

Found a video saying that it should be out by the end of this week and it is demoed on a Xoom so that means it will be tablet compatible.
Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F10D_qwQtZ0
Will be free on Amazon Appstore...
Will be free of charge on Amazon App store for a day some time end of this month.
From the web:-
PopCap is finally bringing its quirky, bright colored games to Android. The Seattle based company has signed an exclusive agreement with Amazon to bring its first Android games to the Amazon Appstore. Leading the launch will be the googly-eyed furballs game, Chuzzle. And at the end of the month, the fan-favorite Plants vs. Zombies will be made available. Both games will be featured as the "App of the Day" in the Amazon Appstore and will be free of charge those days. After that, the games will be priced at $2.99 each.
I hope everyone is right and this is coming tomorrow.
Yeah its free on amazon app store today, since its not for tablets its kind of pixelated, oh well!

hmm...thats weird, bc in the youtube video it is played on the Xoom.
Ok, this game made me take the leap and join the amazon app market; which so far seems to be cooler then the Android Market...for now...
Anyway, about the game: It is very very cool. On the Xoom you can def see the pixelation(hope they fix that), but it is more they playable on the Xoom.

You should have joined Amazon appstore already just for the reason it gives you a free app everyday. It is definitely playable on the xoom. The only downfalll is when you collect new plant, it slows down a bit and pixelated.

But nevertheless it is great first step!!!

The one in amazon is not tablet optimized but if u search for it on google pvz lepad u should find the tablet optimized. The i've been playing it on my zoom for a week now. I its for tegra devices only. It's weird though the tablet optimized is 47mb only and the one in amazon is 70mb

Thank you thank you! The lepad version is MUCH better than the Amazon market version by a mile. Guys, you will have to delete the Amazon version before installing the optimized version or it will not work. If you get a black screen when trying to load the new version, just quit the app and start again..great graphics!
works like a charm. thanks for the hint

Its also v1.0.0 and the market version is like v1.1
I suspect they will put another version out. Something has to be missing in the v1.0.0 build.
I suppose this explains why I see two different versions of PvZ out there, but to be honest I will just stick with the Amazons versons...No, offence to plants vs zombies levono, but I usually like games like this that are still fully supported and can be updated with a click of a button like with android market and amazon appstore.
But ty for clearing up my confusion as to why their are two different looking versions of PvZ.
thanks for posting the tablet ver it looks so much better than the one on amazon... i still got the amazon anyways so when they do fix it i can just redownload it
Bah no love for Non-US users. I'll try the lenovo one.

Its a much better program than the crap polaris office HTC has been giving us. Thank goodness.
<Removed>
Grrr....crappy, I missed it...and I need a decent Office app...coming from Wm I was so use to having it.
Any way to get this from someone?
yeah... polaris sucks...can't even find an option to delete a Doc...
QuickOffice is OK, except, it has issues. I paid for the pro version and it wouldn't open half my word docs. They couldn't fix it, so I got a refund.
OfficeSuite5 works better so far IMO.
I'm Using "Kingsoft Office," which I ran across in the app store, it's actually really good.
Looks a lot like Microsoft Word 2007+.
Plus, it's Free. ;P

best office apps?

Can anyone recommend me a office app that works smoothly?
I have quickoffice hd in my xoom but it lags like hell

I have bought a lot of 'em during those Android Market sales in December or so, and I think the best office app is OfficeSuite which I bought -back then- for .49 €
For PDF files ezpdf is the best.
Beware though, Google has acquired QuickOffice recently so I might become a bit better and I guess there might also come tighter integration with Drive.

+1 for ezpdf and Officesuit. Both are my choices.
Kingsoft Office and CloudOn
Check out Kingsoft Office and CloudOn, both are free and definitely worth a try. I bought Office Pro but I think those may be better

App stores I use

Google Play of course
One time $25 sign up fee Payouts once a month no matter the amount you have earned.
Synapsy <--Scam!
App brain is ok. You will get more recognition with them if you pay to promote your app verses just adding it to their library. Also your app must be live on Google play for it to be included on appbrain.
I thought this Synapsy company was a spam:

I'm trying with GetJar. Anyone has experience with it?
Aptoide Market.. the best?

In my opinion it's too difficult to trust any market that you have to upload your apk to. Appbrain though is perfect, has anyone got any other markets you can submit your apps (from google play) to?
Im still primarily using the play store. Doesnt app brain charge a per download fee or something like that even on free apps?
Note 2 ftw
I use Google Play, BlackBerry World and Amazon Appstore. Blackberry World has worked better than expected for us.
Use google play... Its the best.... Also check out amazon and appbrain for some additional profits......

getjar was worse than amazon for me. It used to be much better but i didn't have any luck with my current game.
Additionally to Google play I use AppBrain, RoboMobo and Opera.
They're OK. With minimal effort I get 20-30% extra downloades.

Try GiveMeApps. They don't have any developer fees AT ALL and you have the option of keeping 100% of all of your earnings. You also get to withdraw your money whenever you want using your control panel, not just once a month, once every two weeks, etc. You can also track your downloads and get analytics.
They also have a Tech Blog, YouTube channel, etc. :good:

Play Store
Sent from my LG-LS970 using xda app-developers app
I use Play Store, Samsung App store, GetJar, Softonic, Opera, BlackBerry, Applandic and Apptoide.
Well by amount of downloads I have next list:
Play Store
BlackBerry
Samsung
Softonic
almost on the same position are GetJar, Opera, Applandic and Apptoide.
By the way, Softonic doesn't ask to submit an app, Play Store link will be enough.
GetJar was good for me when I've tried to promote an app with their promotional service but it's not so good as Appbrain. After I've finished the campaign number of downloads returned to the previous level.
I like SlideMe. I'll add to Play Store too, but right now i don't have a mean to pay those 25$.
That is one time fee and they will charge you nothing from that day? Not even when you withdraw your eranings?
