I have been using a XT1097 for about 2 weeks now, and this problem started 2 days ago. First with google play music, on lollipop 5.0 and using the earphones from motorola that came in the package (not sure if relevant). The phone would pause the music I was listening to while in my pocket, I wasn't doing anything else with it. So I have to take it out and manually press play again.
I did a factory reset, but the problem persists. Now with spotify too. It's getting pretty annoying, taking my phone out of my pocket all the time and interrupting the music.
Any ideas on what might be causing this? Maybe lollipop 5.1 will fix it? I'm on Brazil and they started rolling the update, but I didn't get it yet.
Have you tried other headphones?

Not yet, I don't have another one around right now, but will do.
Today I turned off moto voice and the problem seems to be gone. I used spotify a lot today and it didn't pause a single time. Not sure if it's just a coincidence, tough.

Hey all,
Since I got the OTA for KK 4.4.2, my lockscreen music widget is acting a little bit weird. When I'm listening to music with google play music (and even from some other players like poweramp, rocket player, etc) and the screen goes off, if the track ends and another one begins, when I wake the phone, it shows the current's music art, but the title from the previous track.
With some players I get a bit of variation, some I get the previous album art, some I get both, name and art....
I can only get it working properly when I'm using NexMusic or Apollo, with those two, everything works like a charm, but I really wanted to use GPM.
I have recently factory reseted my phone, I didn't work. Tried to clear GPM's cache and data, nothing, tried to uninstall the update and stick to the original one that came with the phone and still nothing... So I was wondering if any of you can help me a little bit here.
I took a screenshot to try to explain it. It started playing Resistance by Muse, the screen went off and then Sunday Morning started playing, the album art is from sunday morning but the track name is still Resistance.
Yeah, same with me

I have noticed that also
well, I think I got it working right somehow now, after disabling it and trying almost all players on the market, I rebooted the phone a couple of times and now it seems to be doing everything right again
EDIT
well, nevermind, it started acting weird again
Same issue for me. Doesn't happen when I use Shuttle, just happens with Google Play Music. Rather annoying bug.

Has anyone else had an issue on the S6 Edge with the Pandora app not responding? Nothing I have tried has stopped the issue. Sometimes it will play for a while, but as soon as I turn my screen on it will freeze up, slow down my whole phone and then eventually just either stop running altogether or will display an ANR. It was doing this when I had the phone completely stock and still does it after I have rooted.
I have uninstalled, cleared application cache, cleared phone cache, changed settings with data and nothing will fix it.
Any insight would be great.
Thanks
I also wanted to report I have the same issue but I have the HTC M8. I don't think its specific to the S6.

chiming in from VZW G3, can confirm it is not limited to only the s6. I had freezing on both 5.1.1 AOSP and 5.0.2 stock rooted.
If you’re acquiring issues for the S6 Edge with the Pandora application certainly not replying, often times quitting your current application, re-opening that and also going back to http://www.pandora.com for your best suggestions.
I have had an issue when running my Pandora as well. It makes a crackling sound if I'm scrolling or touching the screen while it plays and then after a few of those crackles it just starts emitting this horrible high pitched squeal until I hit the back button enough times. Even then if any sound comes through the phone like a notification or incoming call, it starts again until I reboot it. I've had the phone for less than 24 hours...
S6 here and Pandora problems as well...just stops responding and I get the wait, report or OK prompt.
Thing is, it worked fine at first and my phone had not been updated, so I'm assuming at some point Pandora updated and fubard it.
Hope there's a fix soon!
I have this issue as well on a Nexus 6 pretty much every time I use Pandora. I've never had a problem in the past on any prior phone. I haven't seen many other people talking about this so I have kind of assumed it's related to Lollipop and having a lot of apps installed or something (worth noting even if I remove all apps from recents and reboot it still happens).
So frustrating. At least I'm not alone.
Hi all,
So I recently received a replacement S6 (because of a camera vibrating issue). Thankfully that issue is fixed, but what I've come to realize is that whenever I listen to podcasts, my phone would randomly rewind or fast-forward what I am currently listening to on its own. It took me a day to realize I wasn't crazy.
For example:
While listening to a podcast using Podcast Addict or PodBean, audio would randomly repeat the last 5 seconds, or skip forwards 5 seconds. I tried multiple stations, apps, and even kept the screen on to watch for it to happen. I thought it could possibly be my phone inputting commands on its own, so I watched and noticed Podbean only has a R/FF option for 30 seconds, yet it still does it in shorter increments.
Questions:
1. Has anyone experienced this before?
2. Is there any way to for the device to trigger a toast when a command is issued?
3. Would a keylogger work to find out what's happening? (I don't know..)
4. Should I get another device? Maybe this is why my current device was returned?
Currently on:
Galaxy S6 Replacement Device
Stock S6 MM 6.0.1
Having same issue.
I am having the same issue I started to notice it right after I updated to Marshmallow 6.0.1. Im using Pocket Casts as my podcast app. I have not found any fixes, I thought I was the only one with this kind of issue
Hello there, I have a frustration with my Nexus 6 running 6.0.1
While there is similar probs around, none seem to explain mine.
When using Google Music on Bluetooth/Headset I get normal operation and then randomly (sometimes immediately, sometimes up to about 5 minutes) the volume drops down. The Volume slider still shows 100% volume.
I thought at first it was the ear-saftey thing we used to have where it does this, but then allows you to change it back to full volume. But I didn't get any message around that or cannot find a way to override it.
Then I thought it was another system process stealing focus and the phone getting confused, eg dropping volume for a notification and then just not returning it.
Tried rotating phone to see if it was a portrait/landscape bug
Everytime. I restart the phone, it's fine again before the random volume drop occurs 1 sec-5 mins after playing a song. Once it does it, it gets stuck that way.
I've lived with it for a long time but it's doing my head in now so hopefully someone can help it advise?
Not even sure if a factory reset will fix.
Cheers

I've had the same problem, running N developer preview 1 listening with wired headphones. I've learned that I just kind of have to wait for it to pass, try force stopping play music, or restart the phone.
Are you streaming your music, or is it downloaded onto your device? I manually copy music onto my phone from my computer, and this is when I've got the issue, as I stream with Spotify fairly often and never have the problem. I've always thought it was just some bug reading all of these crazy 3rd party audio files in the storage.
Hasn't been much of a problem for me... Just jumped at the opportunity to share when I saw this thread. If it bothers you that much, try a full wipe of internal storage and reinstall everything. Cheers! Hope I helped.
Hello good people,
I hope someone finds time to read this and help me to find a solution.
I was using "throw" function on the default Music player app to play on my Denon AVR since my Z3c was on KitKat, later it upgraded to Lollipop (I think then it became "cast" instead of "throw") and later it upgraded to Marshmallow - all was good, one touch and I had music playing through my audio system. I recently replaced my phone with another Z3c and was happy until tried to cast my music - it plays intermittently (2 seconds of sound followed by 2 seconds of silence and this repeats non stop). I've tried installing 3rd party apps (AirAudio) but the issue remains. Today I had a chance to hold my old Z3c and to my big surprise - it also developed the same intermittent play issue when casting! The only thing which changed on my old Z3c since I owned it was that it was reset to factory default settings.
Any ideas would be very welcome, second day googling and still no music
Thank you!

Hi,
was the version of firmware on your replacement phone the same as your old phone?
The early versions of Marshmallow had a problem with Bluetooth, specifically throw and stuttering audio.
Have you tried to update your phone with PC Companion.
How far are you willing to go to fix your problem?
I am using the latest version of MM from a developer called Wajik that has no Bletooth issues. But obviously you'd need to root your phone and add recovery to get there. I know it sonds complicated, but there are several great guides and lots of friendly folk here to help you if you get stuck.
Edit: There is a music player called Poweramp, that has the ability to change the priority of the player, it also has a buffer that you can change yourself. With both of these features tuened up you might be able to defeat the stuttering without any major regime change. It also comes as a trial as well.
