I've just noticed there is no hi-res audio via USB after lollipop update. Is there anyway to flash/install it, or is it a matter of returning to kit kat again? I bought this phone for the hi-res as I'm using Sony's 1adac headphones. Very disappointed to say the least.

First test Repairing the firmware
connect to PC Companion app and select Repair Option to install fresh firmware on ur Xperia device
if nothing happen contact Service Center they will inform u if it s disabled (that s almost impossible) OR some software issue
maybe u should w8 for next firmware update
:good:
Thanks for your reply. It's definitely missing and hopefully it will be included again in the next update. For the meanwhile, I flashed an ftf and reverted back to kitkat. Sound quality is noticeably superior.

Hi Everyone,
I have a weird problem. I tried installing skype from play store yesterday and DSPPack for player Pro and ever since i am having this weird problem.
1) When i plug in a Headset/Earphones the phone does not recognize it. The Audio from the phone calls continues through the earpiece and Music is routed to the Speaker
2) When i restart the phone with the Headset/Earphones plugged in, all the audio is played only through the Headset/Earphones (removing them the audio is not routed back to the earpiece or Speakers)
3) I found this app called SoundAbout, using this app i am able to switch between the Earpiece/Speaker and Earphones/Headset.
Can someone guide me as to how to fix this problem. I have done factory reset twice already but of no use
Thanks and regards
Sanjay

I'm on stock JB retail.EU too. I tried the features that make you problems to find out whether I've got any issue. Both video and Skype through headphones work normal, sound is transmitted via headphones. I don't use any market video player I suppose that you use MX Video Player. Try with stock player, you'll have excellent and smooth video playing. If you want to use other player because of subtitles, I recommend BSPlayer.
But what is important for the beginning is to eliminitate possible cause of your troubles. I suggest you to try these:
1. Inspect how are headphones connected. Thin click is to be heard when connected right. They shall not be inserted less and not beyond this click.
2. If you have bluetooth headphones or you can borrow them (stereo not calling headset) try whether you have the same problem with them.
3. Remove video player and check if the problem still exist with Skype.

1) The problem is not related to Hardware, otherwise SoundAbout would not work
2) Same problem with blue tooth headphones
3) I have removed skype, Player Pro
I installed Player Pro and not MX Player
I even made a factory reset (Settings - Privacy - Factory data reset).
I again made a factory reset now and as i mentioned before... the phone does not detect anything plugged into the Audio Jack. If i restart the phone with something plugged in the audio jack, all volume is routed only through the audio jack (if remove the plug, there is no audio from the earpice or built in loudspeaker) and i have to restart the phone again

Then is it obviously that you have problem with the system (JB or kernel). As I mentioned I have the identical system and no issues with voice switching. You could try to flasIt the JB once more but I wouldn't recommend. Since you have practicaly new phone the most logical solution is to bring it to the service. Its better that the service take the risk of succesful flash and it is usually done really fast.

Could you please tell me how to flash JB again to the phone?
Hey Guys. I am a noob to the Xperia Z C6606. I have had several Samsung and HTC Android devices over the years and have rooted and modded them all thanks to xda-developers. This is my first Sony phone. I currently have two stereo bluetooth headsets; an LG HBS-730 and a Sony SBH-80. The play/pause, forward, reverse and phone answer/hang up buttons only seem to work sporadically with any music player I use and I am also running the stock phone app . Its a hit or miss issue. I have these issues no matter what music app I use including the Walkman app. I really love the Walkman app since I am a Music Unlimited subscriber with the way Music Unlimited is integrated into the Walkman app.
I am running a stock and unrooted Xperia Z. Is anyone else experiencing these issues and, if so, is there a work around? I am willing to root my phone if needed.
I read somewhere that it is related to 4.3. Try downgrading to 4.2.2 and report back

Thanks for your input. I may go ahead and try a reset. I hate having to pull out my phone every time I have to answer a call or want to change or pause my music. You would think that a Sony bluetooth headset would work with a Sony phone.

Okay, this gives me more reason the try a reset. I am guessing that you are running 4.3? I think that the C6606 is the only model that has not had the update.

I have other issue. During phonecall with headphones by BT person who i speaking to doesnt here me well (not loud enough) i have the same problem with Xperia E but not with P. Is it kernel or soft problem? Z P is rooted E docent. All tested with tracer headphones nad nokia headset.
A week ago I updated my Xperia Z (6603) to lollipop from android 4.2.2. After this update every seemed to work well except for the speaker that all of a sudden didn't work anymore. At first I feared a hardware fault but then i noticed a notification from Smart Connect saying that the headphones where connected except they weren't. This explained a lot since the phone was indeed acting as is there were headphones connected. After this discovery I tried a lot of solutions I found on the internet.
I tried to plug in and plug out my headphones.
I rebooted the device.
I downloaded the app Sound About, it worked but it would mean that I will forever need to change the setting in the app if I wanted to listen to music on my headphones or over the speakers.
I fiddled in the headphone jack with a toothpick (??)
I reflashed the Lollipop firmware and tried different regions.
After that I tried reflashing every Sony Firmware that I found on the internet. I found out that when I reflashed to the first Android 4.1 Firmware that my speakers started working again. Giving me hope that this was indeed a Software problem and not a Hardware failure (since my warranty has ran out this March). After that I flashed Android 4.2.2 and everything was still all right. But then when I flashed to android 4.3 and it resulted in my original problem. And the same with Android 4.4.4 and ofcourse 5.0.
After I week I'm getting quite desperate since I now need to carry my headphones around for if someone calls me. Another problem is that I can't downgrade to 4.2.2 since last week I also bought an Android Wear device and I need at least 4.3 to be able to use it. So I was hoping that maybe some of you guys know if this is a commonly known problem. So if you are familiar with this problem and are able to help please post your solution below. I'd be extremely greatfull!
edit: To be more precise, it all goes goes wrong with Firmware 10.4.1.B.0.101.
I have updated my firmware to 5.0.2 about 5 days ago. It all goes fine until now, not experiencing any of your problem eventhough with KitKat Firmware 10.5.1.A.0.230 or Jellybean 10.4.1.B.0.101.
FYI because I've unlocked my bootloader and can't received OTA or PC companion update, so I download and flash the FTF using Sony Flash Tools.
Have you tried C6603_10.6.1.A.0.454_HK.ftf version? It works just fine for me.
And let me know whether your bootloader unlocked or locked.
==================================================================
Device = Xperia Z C6602
Firmware = Lolipop 10.6.A.0.454
Bootloader = Unlocked
Rooted = Yes
Thanks for the reply, I did try that firmware but sadly it didn't work for me. And my bootloader is still locked. Does that matter? It also tried updating OTA or Sony's PC Companion but both with similar results.

Since your bootloader still locked, unlocking it will lost your TA partition (can't use bravia engine on album). I've lost it because I don't backup the TA. So, if you plan for unlocking it, be sure backup your TA.
Don't know what to say, because Mine work just fine. But I believe that was Software fault because you've said that just fine on earlier Firmware and THE MOST IMPORTANT it's work with Sound About. Glad you still can use your Speaker although kinda annoying for keep changing the setting to swap between speaker and headset. I'll try to work around to find any way out for your problem.

A headset contains microphone but a headphone doesnt.
just insert the headset but dont pust it hard leave a little space. If you see headphone icon and not headset icon play any music. When music is currently playing and you hear sound on the headset just push the jack hard to lock. The headphone icon must still be a headphone icon. If it change to headset(thats the icon with microphone) icon repeat the process....if you insert jack on phone directly and push hard to lock , you will see a headset icon, in this setting you can never hear music.
this is a mystery bug in xperia z NEVER been fixed. i also have this problem yet i gave up already .. im running custom rom Lineage OS 14.1 nighties still have this issue.
There is no solution am afraid its been 2 years am facing this problem and use sound about to change to speaker or headphone
my friend had this problem before but he fixed it by changing that thing where you plug the headphones .
Audio used to work just fine until almost a year ago.
Now if I plug in headphones, headset with mic, or bluetooth device the phone will not switch to the other audio device - the audio continues to come from the phone.
I installed SoundAbout (PlayStore id=com.woodslink.android.wiredheadphoneroutingfix) and I can *manually* switch to other audio out/in and confirm that all my other devices do work. It's just really annoying to have to manually switch like that.

Thanks! This test showed that my phone is not recognizing when a headset is plugged in or out. None of the events fired.
PC Companion is the Sony software for their phones right? I had tried this before and it's not recognizing the Verizon version of the phone. I did call Sony and they told me that I have to take it up with Verizon. (I sure that Verizon will punt back to Sony,)
Ok guys, let me explain you my problem:
Recently I bought used Xperia T from online store, and seller told me that phone have problem with software. I have flashed a lot of ftf files, and some custom ROMs using TWRP, and in ALL cases my microphone doesn't work, no matter how i want to use it (camera, calling, voice recording (it records noisy sound without detecting any other tones) etc.). When I try to make call other people can't hear me, even when earphones with microphone is plugged in (I suppose that calling should work well because of headphone mic). Only ROM that can make my Xperia works as it should is CM10, 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. So the problem is in software related, not hardware. So I wanted to ask you guys for some piece of advice- what should I do to make newer version of android works on my Xperia. Is there any "microphone drivers", "audio routing", or something similar, just to get some clue about where to start exploring. I cannot use PC Companion since my device is prototype unit. If you have any suggestion, please help me.

Try CM12.1 Neo for your phone. There is faux sound support which has microphone and earphone values. Try it maybe it will work.
That's exactly the first ROM I tried to install, and it have the same problem as other ROMs, even stock ones has that problem (that's really weird). Anyway, thank you for answering my question, I really appreciate that!
Little update- my Xperia T works with all variants of Xperia TX stock and custom ROMs, except camera which is totally inverted and not focusing at all. When I flash stock Xperia T kernel over stock Xperia TX firmare, problem is back, but camera works, so I think that is kernel related problem. So if anyone have some idea what I possibly can do to switch camera drivers (to put Xperia T camera driver in Xperia TX kernel). Any suggestion is more than welcome. Thank you in advance!
