Hello guys. Im on stock rooted .726 5.0.2. Unlocked bootloader. What are the ways or how can i increase background processes? Because it easily kills and restarts 3 opened apps even though i still have some spare memory left. I dont mind occassional stutter or hiccups as long as it doesnt kill apps that i want to keep opened.

After using my tab for 5-10min after a restart, my tab become very slow, to the point of it being unusable. I haven't installed any new apps, just updated some from marketplace, which I deleted. It started this morning. I'm running stock jjb Tmo usa. My tab is also rooted just to freeze some application with T. Backup.
Anyone else experience this? What could I try?

install advanced task killer and check what you have running. Kill some apps and see which helps.
once you have found the cause uninstall it and find alternative, If its a system app freeze it or uninstall it with systemapp remover.
I hardreset my tab yesterday, I kept some apps using titanium backup, only the important stuff and I have to say, it's way much faster.
I had several lags and crashes but now Im good
Ok I did a hard reset and my tab was working fine for a few days and now it's back doing the same, going really really slow after a few min of using it. I killed all apps and not even a spec faster... Is it my tab? Should I format internal SD card?

Sorry to say but don't use Task Killer. It won't help since it only lists what is residing in memory without any other useful info on what to kill.
The most you can do with it , is blindly killing them which doesn't help with the performance or might break something else. The best alternative is Active Apps or watchdog lite which monitors application's CPU usage.
A tip if you just start Android,
Try to use back button ( Close Application) rather than Home ( Put application on standby mode). If you forgot to close applications, try to use Active Apps / Samsung Task Manager to see if anything is left running and close them.
Hope this helps.
Nope, still getting random slow downs. Anyone using launcher pro? After reset, my tab slows down after a few hours. Slow to the point of not being able to do anything but restart.

Had my Tab for several months now using Launcher Pro and various roms without the problems you're having.
Are you using a custom kernel with overclocking and profiles? If so try reverting to stock speed (1000MHz) without profiles.
You could also try a full wipe and reinstall rom without any apps and see what happens. If ok install apps one at a time and test and see which app, if any, causes the problem
look in errlog
download error log from marked and see if u have continues errors.. close any 3d party apps and start the logger, then start any 3rd party 1by1 and see if it generates errors..
I'm running pure stock, us tmo jjb rom. I'm rooted but left rom alone. No overclocking either.
I downloaded log toast, anything special i should look out for? There's a lot of info, don't know what to make of it.
If It keeps happening, might just install new rom.

Ok so i installed log toast and i was monitoring all the errors on my tab. After a fresh restart, i was looking at this thing get errors for:
E BluetoothAudioGateway.cpp(2573)
Pollhup detected
It kept showing over and over and over, but no slow down...I think it was because i had bluetooth turned on.
So right when it started to slowdown really bad, keep in mind that i kept it on the home screen and wasn't using it, just connected to charger and that's it, i started getting a new error message:
E IMGSRV(2497)
PVRSRVEventObjectWait Timeout!
Anyone know what this means??

maybe the rom that you have now has defects which is quite common. if I were you I would flash to overcome version which runs better or return that to samsung for checking.

It's weird I have been experiencing the same type of things. I'm on defualt Verizon rom with superoneclick rooting. Everything else is stock. Started happening yesterday. Maybe it is linked to the update Verizon pushed out? I'm going to start looking into whether I received the update or not and work from there? Keep us posted nysoprano.

tried searching for both ure errors, came up blank, even if they would repeat endlessly it would not slow the system down that mutch. U tried a factory data reset right? guess u could flash a alternative kernel/rom and look for same trouble if so u would assume hw problems? sorry for no straight answer.
Is Advanced task killer rubbish?

Actually my experience with Advance Task Killer (ATK) is that there is never a remarkable improvement! When you kill apps listed as running sometimes freed memory report seem to be temperamental - reduced, no change, increase...
The shocking thing is that killed processes quickly reappears in the list again!
Is there a better app than ATK out there that truly terminates and frees memory?
Ta.

I am having the identical issue. I have a completely stock AT&T tab (no root, no overclocking, no custom ROM, etc.) I have turned off Bluetooth, and it seems to have fixed the issue. Possibly a Samsung Bluetooth bug?
I did a mass app update in the Play Store last night (c.18 apps but crucially, I don't remember which ones!) and am now stuck in the following loop:
1. Boot handset (S3 LTE)
2. Watch responsiveness get progressively worse over period of a few minutes while available RAM shrinks progressively to zero
3. Phone shuts down or soft reboots when it runs out of available RAM.
I can't see any obvious culprit but then am no real expert in what I'm looking for. Desperate to avoid factory reset, particularly as I can't even get the phone to stay on long enough to sort out my backups.
Any thoughts?
Install this then run it as soon as you have booted up, it will stop the apps and free up your ram.

Thanks for the suggestion but the task killer shows no tasks running (and therefore nothing to kill), which fits with what the native task manager is saying. I don't know whether it's some background process but whatever it is, it seems quite hard to identify!
Very confused. From what (admittedly little) I understand, it should be impossible for Android to "run out of" RAM, which is exactly what's happening to me. Which begs the question, why isn't the system doing what it is supposed to? Which in turn makes me think this may not actually be app-related.
Sorry, bit stream of consciousness but if anyone else has any ideas they'd be gratefully received.
maybe some apps don't play well togheter and triger this issue, is your phone rooted?

Possibly, I guess the question is which apps? Yes, I am rooted.
Starting to wonder whether this is related to the problems with SuperSU that seem to have arisen in the last update.

In case this is of use to anyone else, having now unrooted and removed SuperSU, problem seems to have disappeared! Chainfire is working on a fix.
Hello everybody.
I just got myself an P880 a few days ago. All in all, I am rather content, but there is something that bothers me sorely: the lock screen lag. There is a delay of about 3 seconds between pressing the power button and the screen coming to life. I've had this on stock ICS, stock JB and now on CM 10.1.2. I tried different lock screen and also no lock screens - all to no avail. I even checked another P880 (it was running stock ICS) and it was the same story there. Yet I can't really find anyone else reporting this problem, so maybe I'm doing something wrong? I don't know!
I took a video of my old SGS and the P880 next to each other: youtu.be/RyrgdiLGhoU
All hints and suggestions are appreciated!

There is no real answer to this question, my 4x is fine, perhaps half a second delay from pressing the lock button to seeing my lockscreen.
However there are many contributing factors to what could cause this, for example the phone may be locking to a certain frequency too low and it's finding it hard to come back from, if you lock the screen whilst on a RAM hogging app it will also lag, background processes will also slow it down, for example, always clear your recent apps (Long hold Home button) and clear them, if you have root access (jb only i think) Then try using greenify and freezing background apps you dont want either running/receiving notifications from.
If you are still on stock you may want to remove bloatware (apps you don't use) Which will also be churning away in the background slowing down your phone, make sure in your settings you will also have that there is no delay and that lock button INSTANTLY locks the phone and then try again and post back if it's helped or not, if not then we should start looking at other factors it could be, perhaps a week tegra variant and we should look into a custom kernel and raising the minimum frequency a tad and seeing whether or not that will help.

What was the point of this post? Contribute to troubleshooting the problem if you can, but simply posting a "Me too" is no use anyone.

I maybe should have mentioned that it isn't every time that there is this delay, maybe every second time on average - sometimes more often, sometimes not at all.
Having had this problem with different firmwares and also with a cleanly wiped phone, even with a fresh install of CM when I hadn't even flashed the Gapps package, makes me think that this very likely isn'ta bloatware issue.
Changing the CPU governor to performance had no effect either.

I don't have this problem or I would assist in trying to troubleshoot it. You may not have noticed but I don't tend to ask questions because I am very good at reading and most things have been discussed and answered.

Go into application manager and scroll to running. How much memory is system using and how much is free?

Wowzers. Thats definetely a memory leak there. Restart the device and that should get rid of it. What was the uptime of the device at that time?

Mine is now doing the same thing. It has slowly gotten worse And is now extremely laggy and battery life has dropped down to the point I have to use power save mode to get through 7.5 hours of work. I haven't installed any new apps and tried factory reset but it hasn't helped at all.

Have you tried doing a reboot? That will usually reset things.
I'll have a new deodexed rom posted tomorrow. Finally got all the issues ironed out with root and stuff. It'll include the memory leak fix.
I don't know if it's because pie update but this phone can't keep 6 apps open in the background, it feels like a 1 GB of RAM type of phone, anyone facing the same problem?
yeah it's correct it closes everything even simple apps like message, phone dialer ! after a while you left your device. very poor management.
yeah it sucks
And if the phone keeps multiple apps running on background, you will cry for poor battery. Yay
This is seriously bad, even my friend's Mi A2 can keep PUBG in background after 3 hours. I switch to WhatsApp to reply for one chat then I had to reload it. Wtf
