Why do you want to do that? The device will show locked status code 2 not locked status code 0 and it won't restore your warranty if you voided it by unlocking it.
Cant i go 100% back to stock?

You can get back to stock software. But relocking back to status 0 is not possible as was mentioned. Relocking the bootloader has no purpose anyway, so I would just forget about it if I were you.

With an unencrypted device, you could justify it for security reasons. The command is fastboot oem lock. You should've been able to find that without asking.
But otherwise, yeah it's pointless to relock.

You have to get that straightened out with Motorola. Call and ask to be transferred to the US call center, but this has to be done M-F during business hours.

That is a generic warning. The warranty for the pure edition is not voided by unlocking the bootloader. But you have to get it straightened out by speaking to someone in the US, not the foreigners.
Even though the message is there, Motorola still honors the warranty on the pure editions.

You will only need service if there is a hardware problem, like display breaks or speakers stop working or something like that..

The popular carriers like AT&T and VZW don't allow it - so that prevents a large group from doing it.
Cause most carrier phones don't have their option to unlock the boot loader. But yes if you do unluck the boot loader you can root. But you can also root without unlocking thanks to jcase's pwnmymoto root method.

Most people aren't talking about it because I guess they figure you know whether or not you bought a phone that could be unlocked. If you are bootloader unlocked then yes - you just flash su.zip in cwm or twrp and you are good to go.
So if you are on Sprint or T-mobile, US Cellular or international go for it.
Unlocking the bootloader voids warranties as well...doing it through the website makes that void permanent whereas if you did it without the website you can still have your phone go through the warranty process as long as you unroot and relock the bootloader. that's what i love about the nexus devices

There's no 'non Chinese' path for Verizon phones. Unless you have a developer edition

While this may be true for Nexus devices, it doesn't apply to the Moto X.
The Moto X bootloader has 3 states:
Locked, Unlocked, and Re-Locked
Once you have unlocked, if you subsequently re-lock, the status changes to "Re-Locked". You can NEVER get it back to "Locked". So regardless of whether you get your code from the official Moto Unlock site or the Middleman, they still know that you had unlocked previously. There is no way around this...

Exactly! I'm not sure what he is waiting for. An BL unlock exploit to come along? Dan Rosenburg (author of the Razr M Bootloader exploit) has said himself that it is extremely unlikely that a new Moto BL unlock exploit will EVER come along.
@Radio2006 : The "china" method could end tomorrow. It is 99.999% sure to be the ONLY way you will ever get unlocked. If being unlocked is important you, I would urge you not to wait.
Its China method quick, before it ends again....maybe for good....
Or it won't happen. The bootloader won't be "cracked". If it could be, it would be by now.
I'd get in on the China method, or accept a life of no proper root for your device. And no developer made updates after the X stops getting official updates.

Hey, gee thanks guys. I didn't know that. The China method has already shut down according to an XDA post that I read earlier. So I was hoping that something would occur later.

Nope. Lots of moto x variations can be unlocked. And they all can do anything a dev edition can do, except keep their warranty.
I was wandering if there is a way to relock the bootloader, so if my phone bricks, or presents any sort of problems in the future, i can still get the warranty support
If you request an unlock code from Motorola then no, even relocking won't help. If you unlock the bootloader on a non Developer Edition you void your warranty.

Even if you do/can relock the bootloader it has a separate flag to indicate the warranty is void in the phone.

You can relock your bootloader by running fastboot oem lock but this would not restore your warranty. The phone would still show as re-locked instead of locked, so they would still know that it has been unlocked and re-locked. Afaik, it would also still show the Bootloader Unlocked Warning Message even if u re-lock it.

Sorry. I am a VZW customer so when people talk about unlocked bootloaders I think dev edition.
I decided to return my phone. However, I unlocked the bootloader and have since updated to 4.4.2. I am little hesitant flashing 4.4 back, and the new firmware is not available on their website yet.
Ideally, I want to return the phone to the state I received it in, locked bootloader, stock recovery, etc.
What are my options?

I would just do a device reset and send it back how it is. Wrong software, bricked, whatever.

*EDIT* I did some reading. eFuse sounds pretty crappy.
This isn't a nexus guys. We have limits. Going backwards on an x can lead to a brick.

The dev edition works no differently than any other x with an unlocked bootloader. They are exactly the same. The dev keeps the warranty, the only difference.

Is this on Verizon? If so, just send it back. They don't care. They send them back to Motorola to be refurbished. Don't even think twice about it.

Thread title says DE... DE's don't return to Carrier, they go directly to Moto, so being on Verizon wouldn't make difference.

Why are you returning? Is it because you've changed your mind and don't want the X? or are you trying to do a warranty exchange?
Check your bootloader version. If its not 30.B4, then you should be able to flash to the 4.4 DE rom on Moto's site. If you do have 30.B4, you are stuck. If you used a 4.4.2 OTA from T-Mobile, then I wouldn't worry about being on 4.4.2.
As far as relocking your boot loader, I don't think its needed. The warranty is not voided on DE phones. But more importantly, once you click ACCEPT and request the code, they have record you have the code, and assume you unlocked. (per the wording, if you accept and request the code, non-DE phones have immediately voided their warranty.)

Actually they can tell if you used the code or not, once you use the code on your phone then it trips the eFuse and burns it up, there is no way to repair it either, rather smart on Qualcomm/Motos part
Hi guys i have the dev edition moto x. I rooted it and unlocked the bootlaoder, because i wanted to try out custom roms. i amtr now trying to put the phone back to stock. I followed the guide and i got the stock image back on the phone, but for some odd reason the bootloader wont get locked. I get sst lock failure in the command window. I need to send this phone back. any advice?
It's impossible to lock it again. If you have the pure edition you didn't lose your warranty anyway so don't worry.

Actually that does NOT put it back to locked. There are 3 bootloader states:
Locked
Unlocked
Relocked
Once you unlock it, it is impossible to go back to locked. He can only change it to "relocked" which anyone can see that it has been unlocked before. Try searching the forums more and you will see what I mean.

Relocked would be re-(LOCKED)
hence it is locked. Meaning that you can only flash signed images. You are right in the fact that people can see that it has be unlocked before. But when its relocked the bootloader is still locked.

For warranty purposes it does not matter when you have the pure edition. They have already said that its still covered under warranty.
In the first post he says he wants to lock it to send it back, but the point is that it does not matter and that they will know anyway.

Even if he never unlocked they would assume it has been unlocked anyway and if unlocking a Pure Edition would void the warranty (which it apparently doesn't) his warranty would already be void. When you put your ID string into the website to get the unlock code it very clearly tells you that once you click continue they update the device as unlocked in their records whether you actually unlock it or not because you asked them for the unlock code.
Well if he has dev edition moto x instead of pure edition then he probably needs to search OG moto x thread not the 2014 moto x
This is all irrelevant. Unlocking the bootloader on an XT1095 will not void the warranty per Motorola's website. Also per their website....requesting and have the unlock code for your device sent to you is the same as actually unlocking the device. In other words, they know what devices they sent out unlock codes for and as soon as they send that code they then assume that it was used and the device was unlocked. It does not matter if you decide not to use the code, if they sent it, then they consider it used on the device. They caution about that in the verbage that they want you to read before requesting the code. That of course does not apply to the Pure Edition (XT1095) since they consider that model a developers edition. So unless you have somehow damaged the device and it will no longer work properly, it really does not matter if the bootloader is unlocked or locked.
