folder - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge

Does anyone know what the hidden folder .metadata is in the DCIM folder and why it can't be deleted

I would assume that it holds the metadata for the images stored in the DCIM folder. Could also be where android stores the thumbnails for videos under teh DCIM folder.
The DCIM structure is a standard that most companies follow (but this article doesn't specifically mention a .metadata folder):

Try this re-naming experiment

Go into 'My Files' and try re-naming your Android, DCIM and sd folders.
When you 're-name' your Android and DCIM folders you are really creating new folders, not re-naming your old ones.
And when you try to re-name your sd folder, you will be told that you can't.
Get to know Android.
that is how the normal file system works in linux

Click to collapse
Well first, how do you know which folders can be renamed and which can't?
Will linux create a new folder (and all its contents) whenever you rename one or just when you rename certain ones?
TIA

[Q] Folder for Application Files

hi,
is there some way to make applications use a user defined folder for their (temporary) files?
I'm using cynanogen mod 7 and in my sdcard folder i have a lot folders created by applications i've installed. but since i never need these folders it would be great if they'd be in a subdirectory (like sdcard/appFiles/dropbox)
right now i have directories called gameloft, dropbox, ezPDFReader, tapatalkxda_download, etc.
they clutter my sdcard folder and make it less nice to look at.

[Q] How to access photos in JB, Android >4?

I believe I have a similar problem as this guy ( http://forums.androidcentral.com/verizon-galaxy-s-iii/195932-cant-transfer-pictures-my-s3.html ).
The pictures should be in the DCIM/Camera folder but aren't. I looked up the file path of the pics. Only one old picture is shown.
All pictures shot by me are missing. Could have something to do with permissions?
Edit: Come to think of it. The most likely explanation is that "DCIM/Camera" exists somewhere and is accessed via MTP or PTP in the PC's explorer. The cache file folder has a bunch of .tec and .arc files e.g. 20125440784004.tec
thumbnails is missing.
When accessing the DCIM/Camera folder via the Android file explorer, all pictures are there in storage/sdcard0 along with cache and thumbnail folders. There are no other DCIM/Camera folders or anything other than sdcard0.
What is going on?
Any help is much appreciated.
Well, right after I posted the "Edit", the most reasonable next step would have been to rename the folder and see what happens. Indeed DCIM -> DCIMx did the trick.
Ultimately the renaming brakes down to a bunch of Linux file system commands, probably even resetting permissions. So I figure another renaming step of DCIMx -> DCIM should solve the problem.
Update: It worked, but not after a reboot. I simply renamed the folder again, and let Android create a new DCIM folder. Everything is accessible within this one.
Report if you have similar problems.

Hide unhide image folder???!

Recently brought a z3 compact after years of samsungs
On my Samsung I used to be able rename a image folder with a full stop infront of it and this would hide the folder and pictures from the gallery and alsothe pictures wouldn't show up to send if you were trying send a photo on WhatsApp/Facebook. If I wanted send a picture from this folder I'd go in the file manager rename the folder and after a few moments the folder and pictures were viewable/sendable again.
Is there a way of doing this on the z3? apart from connecting to a pc? I know my folder is there on my SD card at the minute named .images but it can't be found on the phones file komander to be renamed without the . So it can be viewable. Thanks in advance
just create a file named ".nomedia" without the quotes and put it on the folder that you want to keep out you gallery.
The images be accesible via explorer.

Question How to manage the data of dualApp through any folder?

In 3.0, no Dual App folder.
I googled and saw in Android 11, Samsung created a folder named emulated/95 for the dual app ( the primary folder is emulated/0 ). and the "95" folder is a hidden folder and so far I tried a few FileManager Apps, none can even find that folder.
