Sadly, Google CEO Eric Schmidt has confirmed that there wont be a Nexus Two:
http://androinica.com/2010/07/05/go...oming-that-means-a-nexus-two-is-coming-right/
Im actually really disappointed, as I planned on selling my Nexus One to upgrade to the Nexus Two. Then it made me wonder....I wonder now if the resale price on the Nexus One will go higher, as this is the only phone Google had directly manufactured for them?
I managed to get 120 euros for my old G1 when I sold it, and it was a year old (I babied it and kept it in FLAWLESS condition). I paid 370 Euros for my Nexus One (contract free) from someone who had purchased it from Google directly and only had it for a week. I wonder now if when January comes around, if I can get more for it now?
Would you sell your Nexus One later this year if you knew you could get more for it than what you paid? And if you could, do you think its worth it to sell it or hold onto it? Do you think Nexus Ones that came directly from Google vs a carrier will be worth more?
Thoughts?

I paid $199 for my AT&T 3G Band Nexus One & Dock... I'm pretty sure I could get back what I paid now, even if they do make a N2
They should release a Nexus 2 but as a limited edition phone...just make like 200K of the handsets...high quality...make a flagship Android phone...it'd go great with the dev and geek community. A Nexus every year.

Brilliant idea! I really feel that Google needs to put out their own phone regularly, as a high Android powered device running stock Android is in my eyes badly needed. The thing is, I dont think Google is pulling our chains on this. I really dont think another phone will come directly in the same form that the Nexus One did.
Im sure alot of people including myself would scoop up 200,000 of these handsets in a relatively short amount of time.
I personally think thats a great idea, as I love the fact that I dont walk around seeing everyone and their mother having my phone
Then what will be the next phone to receive updates without carrier consent? Or the next developer phone entirely? Or the next phone with fastboot OEM unlock? There may not be a Nexus two, but there needs to be a equivalent.
My nexus is going in my permanent collection I think. It's too nice of a phone to sell when I'm done with it. Maybe I'll change my mind later, but It's almost like a collectors phone in a way.

yep...and then it's exclusive status will cause it to sell out faster...maybe the year after they can up it to 500K and soon the Nexus brand will be widely known as quality and exclusivity..."oh you have an iPhone 6? well **BAM** I have a Nexus 3, you were saying?"
You guys are forgetting that Google has never really been about content CREATION. The nexus was some kind of weird test for them and their production/marketing teams. They're much happier (as an organization) to either be a link from others' created content or to provide backend support for others. They don't want to be in the production, direct selling, QA, and support business. This is why you'll probably never see another google phone.
very disappointing, but a pretty cool way of backing off. not like apple where they give you the 3G then the 3GS, hate their upgrades.
i dunno what i'm supposed to get after the N1 grows old someday.
planning on getting another one before the online store closes.

Just bought mine. Don't think I will sell it until a see a dual core gsm phone. But even then the Nexus is just soo nice!

That's rumored for this winter: http://androidspin.com/2010/06/24/rumor-dual-core-800mhz-phone-hitting-t-mobile-before-holidays/
im gonna hang on to alexis, my nexus, for a bit and retire it as i did my adp1. i think the htc sidekick looks like a worthy replacement in the specs but if its got a ui over stock android im out. Nothing beats having a unbranded device.
i was really looking forward to nexus successors. As a TMobile customer it was my strongest hope of having high powered stock Android options
But what if gingerbread doesnt eliminate other skins like google hopes it will? These other stupid companies have worked hard to put their stupid skins (other than HTC's Sense obviously) on these otherwise great android phones, maybe they wont want to just drop their development.
Then maybe Google would release a phone to display their own UI like they put out the nexus to set the previous bar...

Honestly mate, that's what's happened to the iPhone, don't cha think? At least that's how it is in Singapore. Every other schmuck has an iPhone. To think that not too long ago, anything with an "i" as the first letter in its name was something to be proud of. Now it's a phone for the masses.
What I'm trying to say is, I suppose Schmidt had his heart in the right place when he decided to announce that Google's pulled the plug on the project..
However having said that, a "limited edition" every year (to the date, e.g. 5 Jan 2011 for N2) would be wicked

We're all aware of Google's "Do No Evil" motto aren't we? Taking that into consideration I'd say that a more likely route Google may take is to mandate that its partners (Moto, HTC, Acer, etc., ) must, to the best of their abilities, educate their customers on the choices they have (stock vs. something-meatier-on-top [e.g. Sense UI]), and to allow these customers to easily switch between UIs.
Remember how in the earlier builds of HTC's Desire, you could actually "force stop" the Sense UI like any other app? Something like that, just intentional this time

yea you could forcestop the sense homescreen, but that's about it...you couldn't do anything about the systemwide integration of sense.
If these OEMs made their skins like home replacements or something and simply disabled stock launcher that'd be great...that way regular joes would use their OS and the more tech savvy people would easily disable the OEM home replacement. Then updates would probably happen faster as well.

I don't think you need to go looking for a phone as such, I think they find you in a way.....
I went to the shop for my upgrade and saw the G1 for the first time, bang! that was it! that was the handset I wanted.
I then wanted the Hero and I'm now on the Nexus.
Of all the phones out now there is truly not one I want, I'd love a mash up of a couple though! (Samsung S Amoled screen, Desire radio, 8mb camera with Dual flash, HD video, hard buttons...etc).
Basically, until a new hadset comes out, makes me want I don't go looking.
Hallo,
so i am one of the people who could not get a nexus 4 from the funny Store because of unknown erros in the ordering system! (after a call they say u have one, next day call the told me that there is no transaction)!
I personally (like many other) do not believe that the Nexus 4 is out of stock! unless they hat only 1000 pieces!
I believe there it is one of the following:
either
- It is a markting game! we do not have any information about how many pieces were sold! .... not really sure
or
- Google do not trust this LG nexus really and did offered only limited pieces to be sold, to see how does the Nexus 4 do in the every day use! a kind of real life test!, so they can (maybe/maybe not) prevent the failures in the next shipment of nexus 4. And that is why google did not set a pre-order option on the funny Store!
As i can see it is really better that many of us could not get a nexus 4 first shipment (may be last shipment too!). I also do not like to buy a phone which i did not hold in my hand! or a phone which is not really tested yet!
So be happy like me because u did not buy the nexus 4 yet!

No i am not, i can still get one for 60$ above the price of the funny Store, that is not the Problem.
Then plz can u explain to me why was that not really professional from the Master Google?
Funny how none of those reasons could actually make someone "happy" they didn't get one... its not like you just broke the news that the device is a nuclear time bomb at T - 6:66
Well, everything has its good side. Those who weren't able to get a Nexus 4 can wait and see people's impression about this device, more reviews (besides the wide anandtech review), possible device issues, etc.
I admit I will buy a Nexus 4 as soon as it becomes avaliable again, but I'm also worried about the non-AOSP thing. So let's see hot it goes now on.
That's exactly what I told myself on my way to work after my attempts to place an order failed - until an hour later when my wallet showed an accepted order along with confirmation email-and I changed my mind:laugh:
OP that sounds really stupid. period.
I personally think that it's better to wait, since I want to see how durable the device is. And for the most part, I will be buying my Nexus 4 when either Ballistic Cases/Otterbox/Trident release a case for this phone, idk something about that back glass gets me a little worried about how sturdy this phone is...
I don't know how you can say that...I had to cry myself to sleep

Why not go with an official bumper case? That is the lightest thing that will protect fully against falls (unless you drop it on an uneven surface where the glass touches first.. unlikely)

Are you serious? You really think that there is enough time between the first batch arriving and being used and shipping the second batch of phones they're going to have enough information to make serious hardware changes? A little far-fetched methinks.
How about something positive like Google set a limit on the devices to ensure that each one was sent out in a timely manner and the orders could be processed swiftly before relisting the device that was hugely popular?

I don't think that the glass makes the phone not 'sturdy'. I would guess that the phone is well made, solid and also looks really nice because of the tough Gorilla Glass 2 backing. Obviously, this is purely speculative but I can imagine that with a bumper and - more importantly - a little care, this device will last a while and be great to have.

u cry because a phone? A phone that u can/may buy?!
All my phones up until now have been on contract, and each upgrade has never coincided with a launch. Part of the appeal with the N4 (along with the price of course) was to get a phone at launch for the 1st time. I'm happy to put up with teething problems -as a long standing Android dabbler, that is part of the masochistic fun. It is just nice to be in at the very beginning for a change.

I'm due an upgrade now...have 2weeks left on my 3 contract... I'm happy with 3 had a pretty uneventful 2years with them and get great speeds on my nexus4 of about 15-19meg, I don't get any sign at my new place of work....to be honest no1 really gets signal due to the building construction.... 3 have offered me a free home signal box to counter this, so I'm more than happy to stay, my next headache is what phone to get... I've kinda settled on the HTC one, the s4 is too wide as I like to use my phone one handed most of the time....also seen the s4 lag loads....my n4 is too wide...the one fits my hand far better, I have a massive reservation.... The ones been out for a while now...should I upgrade straight away, or wait? Do HTC have something new round the corner? I know there's always something new so you can end up waiting indefinitely, but I've seen the butterfly S is around the corner... Is there a one S peeping its head round there too? Just dont want to get a one only for a month later for a new 1 to come out.... BTW I'm set if I get one to get the black...not bothered about it attracting finger prints as I'll have a case on it...I've seen a few silver ones where the white has slightly got mucky...and kinda of gone yellowish....so if i do opt for the One, its guna be black.... guys your the ones who own it, whats your advice
Thanks

There's no point waiting for what may come next, there are a couple of HTC phones in the pipeline but no telling when they'll be available and in which markets..... buy for today and not wait for tomorrow.
The HTC One is a great phone and I personally can't see myself wanting anything else for a while.... it would have to be a truly exceptional device to make my One feel inadequate.
I have the black one, kept it in a case and after several weeks it still looks like it's just come out of the box.
And besides HTC would probably ride on this devices succes for a bit, perhaps they will launch a new windows 8.1 device, or a refreshed HTC One, but for the time being, this device is simply amazing, recomend it alot!
is not the butterfly 2 or something "2" coming from HTC, which gonna be very similar to the one but with a sd slot, or maybe the s4 with snapdragon 800 and the adamantium shell?
theres the Butterfly S, but then you should choose desing wise and SD if thats youre concern..
Apart from the smaller HTC One (M4) which probably will come later, there is no other One coming soon.
Maybe a phablet or a new Butterfly.
The companies now replace their phones much faster (and with this many times the people feel "cheated"), but there is nothing coming very soon so if you like the One just go and get it.
If the past is anything to go by even if they do bring out some new phones they will be slight upgrades compared to the one it will be a while I think before there's another big step forward

Butterfly S is mainly for Asia market , so i wouldn't wait for it even if it's coming to the U.S. it's not metal >.> tho i do like the 5inch screen
So, I have had my Nexus 6 it came out... I have always boasted about how ungodly huge it was for a phone, and how amazing it was for literally everything.
I installed ROM after ROM after ROM after ROM and on and on and on...
I showed everyone I met how having stereo speakers facing front with a huge screen put any new flagship to shame.
I loved making the comment that this was the only phone i knew that the speakers could actually get waaaaay TOO LOUD.
This was even the only phone I didnt run at full audio.
If someone was showing a youtube video, or even looking at images I'd scoff while pushing away their phone and whip my Nexus 6 out for viewing or research pleasure.
I found satisfaction and relaxation in rubbing the dimple in the back.
This phone was even the original fidget spinner. I constantly found myself spinning it on a table while talking, listening, concentrating. I'd make designs on the screen with the smudges of my finger.
And now, its dead. One flawed "waterproof phone bag" and its dead. I feel like I am in mourning. Nothing new is any good. They're sleeker, faster, all fancy - but they aren't the Nexus 6.
Maybe the Pixel 2 will be the new puppy I get - or maybe i just get another Nexus 6. It's sooooo ironic that after 2 years, there is NOTHING as satisfying as this phone.
What do you think i should do?
R.I.P n6 T_T . I hope nothing bad happens to my nexus.

how long was it wet? fresh or salt water? perhaps the battery shorted? mine took a dunk in the lake with no ill effects. Perhaps a new battery? could do a good cleaning while apart too. Who knows....

furore? you buy op6? will 6t get better? or should we ask the crystal ball when the 7 comes?
I hope a mod will see this and close it ASAP.
This will be my first and last 1+ yes it is cool and had great battery with superb performance.
But a five month period passed and my phone became obsolete, no OIS.
Two things which killed it for me.
Shame.
Anyone who buys a phone that One Plus releases in Spring is an idiot at this point. One Plus will release their inferior phone in Spring and then the version they should have released in the first place in Fall. Why would anyone fall for that again and buy an OP6?
Well, that's your opinion. I don't find OP5 inferior to OP5T. Actually, it's the other way around for me.
Sorry, but no capacitive buttons and finger print sensor on the back it's not an upgrade for me. And the rest, well, they have exactly the same OS, same software and same hardware.
And if you don't buy the 6 because the 6T will be 6 months way... you should probably don't buy the T because the 7 it's 6 months way again.
FWIW, OP6, or any other phone in 2018, will not be a worthy jump in performance compared to OP5. No matter what.
I have no intentions to buy any phone for a couple years, but who knows. I might get the itch and buy a new one anyway.
My phone didn't become less capable because there is a newer phone.
Exactly! But the urge to get the latest model is to much for some people.
And let's face it, phone brand known that all to well.
Yes, marketing works great with phones. My computer is 4yo and has maybe a few years to go with small upgrades, but I change phone every year :silly:
I hope this time I can keep my OnePlus 5 a long time (I'm very careful with it and it is always inside a silicon case).

That's not OnePlus's fault, that's today's consumer society's fault. "I just gotta have the latest thing, that will make me happy, that will make me better than everyone else"
If it ain't broke, don't "fix" it.
Yeh, definitely.
Im guilty of it myself sometimes. But this time around I manage to keep my last phone for 4 years before I moved on. I'm proud of myself. Lol
Let's see what happens this time, when the new phones start popping up in a few months.
I hope 6 will be edge to edge screen. No up & down bands/buttons.
I'm still not convinced about no bezels and weird screen ratio thingy.
Let's see what the future brings.
Lol wait for the T you know all those people that complained about the 5t when it came out.
