Hi All,
I installed the latest raspberrypi-ui-mods to get my pi install ready for a pi2. But one issue i'm seeing is conky will not start on boot. I double checked /etc/xdg/lxsession/LXDE/autostart for @Conky at the bottom and it is indeed there but i did notice that the update added another LDXE folder named LXDE-Pi. I did not find an autostart folder inside. I tried to create one using nano and added @Conky to the file but conky still does not start on boot.
Any ideas or information would be appreciated.

I need help I've tried some many things to fix this problem and searched also, to no avail, And I'm hoping that someone here could help. My tilt has been running fine, but recently when i restart i get a gx.dll message saying
"there is no application associated with "gx", run the application first......"
Ans this is on start-up , i even went and all my itemes out of the start up folder in windows, to no avail.
Thanks
hard reset.
I've noticed this same file popup in my start menu here and there on my Tilt. I think it is created by a program file. Maybe one running out of the start menu folder directly, unlike a shortcut. Maybe a program file put in your startup folder? I just hypothesize.
Here is how to fix the backlight on SenseMOD ROM from Floatshow.
I am posting the fix here as I do not have permission to post in the Developer section.
Step 1: Download the attachment, unzip the files and place it in /system/etc.
Step 2: SSH/ Use terminal on your phone and run the file /system/etc/bklights_init.sh
This should turn on the key backlights
You might notice a slight delay in turning on / off the key lights. Try to change the sleep value to 1 or 2 in bklights.sh file, kill the application and re-run the script.
I do not take any credits for this solution. Just took the Incredible 2 solution which was present in the same ROM itself and applied it to Incredible S.
I request Floatshow to kindly add these files for vivo as well and make sure the bklights_init.sh file is run during startup.
Hello, i have download a terminal, extract the files.
But in the terminal i don't know what to put in there. Can you tell me what to do please?
Sent from my HTC Incredible S using XDA
Put both the files in /system/etc.
Extract to SDCard first and then using a ROOT Explorer copy the files there.
Then run /system/etc/bklights_init.sh from the terminal.
If you want you can even change the paths in the files and run it again.
Requires a little shell script knowledge !
Ok, i just don't know how to run the file.
Sent from my HTC Incredible S using XDA
just managed to work it out...
Here you go:
Install a terminal emulator from the play store.
Next, copy the files where suggested in the first post (system\etc)
Now, go change the properties on both the files to include execute (in esfile explorer this is done via long press, properties, change then tick execute for all users).
Now launch your terminal app.
in here type:
cd system
cd etc
su
sh bklights_init.sh
That's it! My lights came straight on. Haven't rebooted yet to see if they're persistent... If it turns out they're not I'll go have a look at a way of making the script execute on boot but I'm kinda new at all this...
---------- Post added at 11:59 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:53 AM ----------
Found a small glitch. The lights don't turn straight off with the screen... They do go off a few mins later though. They appear to obey the screen timeout to turn off rather than shutting off with the screen if you hit the lock button. Not a show stopper. Maybe I'll have a look at the file later and see if I can work out a way around but I'm making no promises cos I'm quite new at this...
It won't persist after a reboot. You will need to run it again (or add it to autorun).
To reduce the delay of the light on/off, try changing the sleep value in the shell script. (I have kept a value of 2 and it works pretty ok).
Most ROMs have a feature where it runs all the scripts from a particular directory during startup. We should find out which one this ROM uses and put the bklights_init.sh file in that directory.
Cool, thanks for the info - I'll have a look.
I think me and zoeriva are on different roms... In fact I know we are cos I just ported the rom I'm using from another device myself! Once I have it ironed out (and have enough posts to post in the dev forum) I'll sling my rom up there... In the mean time do you think there is a clever way to identify the autorun folder you mentioned? Maybe a script that almost all roms have execute on startup?
By the way, thanks for the initial post too - it was a great starting point and the files are diamond!
I just started to work on making this an APK.
Just install the APK and you should have the backlight fixed ! And that too, without the lag
--- EDIT---
Check this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26463917&postcount=145
Fantastic! I'll go grab it and give it a try. If I can include that in a couple of ports I just done they'll be pretty much perfect and ready to roll...
I can't post in the dev forum so I hope you see my reply here... I can't install the apk. It says parsing error - there is a problem parsing the package. There is only an OK button and it doesn't install. Any ideas?
Are you installing it on gingerbread ? I built it for ics only . I shall give you a gingerbread build soon.

The only cell phone service I can afford is Tracfone for my used HTC Hero, so I’d just like to use the HTC to run apk apps. I understand I need to get some kind of apk installer on the HTC. However, not having a phone-Internet connection, I have to install (including my first app (an apk installer) from my SD card or via USB. I’ve read I can do that with the Windows adb program, but to get at that program I have to install over two gigs of Eclipse (whatever that is), SDK, Java itself, and then the Java updates. Is there no other way I can accomplish this?
Would flashing my HTC with a different ROM give me a way to accomplish this? Would that easier than the Java/Eclipse/SDK route?
Would it work if I could find someone to install an apk installer on another MicroSD card for me? I would really appreciate ANY suggestions you may have.
Thank you
Trish
All you need is the drivers for the phone so it can see it and the SDK. Once you get that you can use the adb install command.
It is possible that one of the ROMs still active here might have a file manager already installed. If that's the case, you can install it through your SD card. Usually the cyanogen ROMs have one installed. Have you tried one yet?
Installing 1st app without adb
ALL YOU NEED IS THE DRIVERS FOR THE PHONE SO IT CAN SEE IT AND THE SDK.
ONCE YOU GET THAT YOU CAN USE THE ADB INSTALL COMMAND.
You mean I needed Windows drivers so the SD card is visible in Vista. It is visible now. I can see the files on the card.
IT IS POSSIBLE THAT ONE OF THE ROMS STILL ACTIVE HERE MIGHT HAVE A FILE MANAGER ALREADY INSTALLED.
This sounds very encouraging to me, but how can I tell? I’m not a developer, just an aspiring Android user. I see no Icons that appear to represent file managers, but when I go to Settings/Applications/Manage Apps – there are names that I can’t figure what all they entail like. For example:
com.android.providers.applications
com.google.android.syncadapters
com.htc
DCS.utility.component
DM command service
Download manager
EPST
And, if one were a file manager, how do I invoke it since it doesn’t appear in a menu?
IF THAT'S THE CASE, YOU CAN INSTALL IT THROUGH YOUR SD CARD.
USUALLY THE CYANOGEN ROMS HAVE ONE INSTALLED. HAVE YOU TRIED ONE YET?
Are you suggesting I flash a new ROM? I Googled Cyanogenmod and found this.
- flashing a radio
- f download the latest version of the radio (2.42.02.10.29).
- f place the radio file on the root of the sd card.
- power off the htc hero (cdma).
- boot into the clockworkmod recovery, by pressing the home button while powering on.
- once you enter clockworkmod recovery, use the side volume buttons to move around, and the trackball button to select.
- select install zip from sdcard.
- select choose zip from sdcard.
- select the radio update.zip.
- note: the htc hero (cdma) will reboot during this process.
- once the installation has finished, select reboot system. now the htc hero (cdma)'s baseband version should now be 2.42.02.10.29.
I’m not building a system so I don’t need Java, Eclipse, SDK? The last part sounds like file management to me. Selecting the file and magically installing it. Is that all I’d need to do? Cyanogenmod is compatible with most of the HTC Hero’s Android apps
Thank you so much for your help.

Houses the last Cyanogen release for the hero. It's 66mb (man, wish new ROMs could be that small again)
Within this ROM is a file manager that can browse your SD card. Check then box to allow unknown source for apks in settings, then just browse your SD card with the file manager to install.
GApps I can't seem to find. Hmmmm............let's see

I think I may have jump the gun here. Is your phone rooted?
No. I was just given this hand-me-down and I never imagined there was so much to installing new apps on a phone with no phone service. Now that I've "got the picture", I've just bought the XDA Android Hacks book to give me a quick and dirty education. Before this, it seems everywhere I've read, there was always a gotcha. Plus most involve Java which I have removed from my PC. My plan is to look into getting the SDK for Linux Mint (which I've just installed on a laptop) and then using adb. Otherwise,I'm afraid one of those gotchas will turn up after I've done something and I'll end up with a brick. So it will be rooted. But it may take me a little while. Thanks a lot for your help.

I have tried different solutions but none of them seem to work for me. I have installed the latest AS on my Windows 7. Everything downloaded fine(I'm not behind any proxy) However, when I try to create a new Project, after I set the name,Activity name(which I live as default) and finish the settings, a message pops up saying "Gradle Build"; It keeps building but I don't know what it's doing.
I've tried the following steps to fix it: -Deleted .gradle so that it creates a fresh one as the original might be corrupted -Downloaded gradle manually and pointed AS to this -Downloaded gradle zip manually and put it in .gradle>wrapper>dists>2.14.1>numbers>zip file here
Any idea how to fix this?
Thanks
Hello,
Apologies if that has been answered elsewhere but I have done some searching and haven't found much which is why I came here.
So, I had created an app using Android Studio and deployed it onto my phone which is fine; it works. However, recently, my PC crashed and some data was wiped completely including the files to my app. I want to be able to extract the app files from my phone and essentially redeploy those back into Android Studio. I tried using the Android Device Manager but the supposed "/data" folder is empty. I know the app is installed on the phone's internal storage as I can see it when viewing in Application Manager.
Is there a way to redownload/rebuild those app files back into Android Studio? I am also able to attach a debug process to the app once it's running on my phone but that's about it.
Any help is appreciated!
I had the same problem. After trying numerous methods that didn't work, I realized that I had accidentally changed an option in my "Run Configuration". Here's exactly what I did to fix the issue.
1.Run --> Edit Configurations
2.With your configuration selected on the left panel (mine says "app"), in the General tab on the right panel, 3.there is a section called "Before launch". This section should have an option added called "Gradle-aware 4.Make", but I had accidentally removed it.
5.I re-added it by pressing the "+", then clicking OK in the popup (leave the input box in the popup blank).
6.Click apply.
Thank you damponting44 for the reply.
Editing this configuration seems to be for projects that exists locally on the machine. I'm trying to build/extract from my device as those files no longer exist on my machine and I am trying to get those files from my phone to Android Studio. Also, my "Before launch" setting did already have "Gradle-aware Make".
Rebuilding of existing app
Building of existing app need to be executed with right strategy to over come the parent app. Creating an app like ola, uber and other famous app needs market strategy. Finding out the drawback of the app will help you in creating a clone app.
